Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome（HPS） is a recessive disorder with bleeding diathesis, which has been linked to platelet granule defects. Both platelet granules and endothelial Weibel-Palade bodies（WPBs）are members of lysosome-related organelles（LROs） whose formation is regulated by HPS protein associated complexes such as BLOC（biogenesis of lysosome-related organelles complex）-1,-2,-3, AP-3（adaptor protein complex-3） and HOPS（homotypic fusion and protein sorting complex）. Von Willebrand factor（VWf） is critical to hemostasis, which is stored in a highly-multimerized form as tubules in the WPBs. In this study, we found the defective, but varying, release of VWf into plasma after desmopressin（DDAVP） stimulation in HPS1（BLOC-3 subunit）, HPS6（BLOC-2 subunit）, and HPS9（BLOC-1 subunit）deficient mice. In particular, VWf tubulation, a critical step in VWf maturation, was impaired in HPS6 deficient WPBs. This likely reflects a defective endothelium, contributing to the bleeding tendency in HPS mice or patients. The differentially defective regulated release of VWf in these HPS mouse models suggests the need for precise HPS genotyping before DDAVP administration to HPS patients.

yttria-stabilized zirconia(ySZ,ZrO_(2)-8%y2O_(3))films were deposited onto lanthanum strontium manganite(LSM,La_(0.7)Sr_(0.3)MnO_(3))substrates using dip-coating process aiming for the application in solid oxide fuel cells(SOfCs).ySZ precursor was prepared by sol-gel method;three values of the organic/inorganic concentration ratio(1,3 and 5)were utilized and the sol viscosity was adjusted(60 mPa·s and 100 mPa·s)before deposition on the *** influence of these synthesis parameters on the structure and morphology of the deposited films was examined by X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The films showed characteristic peaks of LSM,ySZ(with cubic structure)and secondary phases of SrZrO_(3) and La_(2)O_(3).Depending on the synthesis conditions,crack-free,homogeneous and well adhered films were obtained,with thickness of 11-24μm.

Architecting fault Tolerance with Exception Handling: Verification and Validation

When building dependable systems by integrating untrusted software components that were not originally designed to interact with each other, it is likely the occurrence of architectural mismatches related to assumptions in their failure behaviour. These mismatches, if not prevented during system design, have to be tolerated during runtime. This paper presents an architectural abstraction based on exception handling for structuring fault-tolerant software systems. This abstraction comprises several components and connectors that promote an existing untrusted software element into an idealised fault-tolerant architectural element. Moreover, it is considered in the context of a rigorous software development approach based on formal methods for representing the structure and behaviour of the software architecture. The proposed approach relies on a formal specification and verification for analysing exception propagation, and verifying important dependability properties, such as deadlock freedom, and scenarios of architectural reconfiguration. The formal models are automatically generated using model transformation from UML diagrams： component diagram representing the system structure, and sequence diagrams representing the system behaviour. finally, the formal models are also used for generating unit and integration test cases that are used for assessing the correctness of the source code. The feasibility of the proposed architectural approach was evaluated on an embedded critical case study.

Kinetic approach to the study of froth flotation applied to a lepidolite ore

The number of published studies related to the optimization of lithium extraction from low-grade ores has increased as the demand for lithium has grown. However, no study related to the kinetics of the concentration stage of lithium-containing minerals by.f.oth flotation has yet been reported. To establish a factorial design of batch flotation experiments, we conducted a set of kinetic tests to determine the most selective alternative collector, define a range of pulp p H values, and estimate a near-optimum flotation time. Both collectors（Aeromine 3000 C and Armeen 12D） provided the required flotation selectivity, although this selectivity was lost in the case of pulp p H values outside the range between 2 and 4. Cumulative mineral recovery curves were used to adjust a classical kinetic model that was modified with a non-negative parameter representing a delay time. The computation of the near-optimum flotation time as the maximizer of a separation efficiency（SE） function must be performed with caution. We instead propose to define the near-optimum flotation time as the time interval required to achieve 95%–99% of the maximum value of the SE function.

In recent years,hard carbon materials have gained significant interest as anode materials for Na-ion *** waste is considered one of the most interesting,renewable,available,and cost-effective precursor to obtain hard carbon(HC);however,HC properties must be finely tuned to achieve performance comparable to those provided by Li-ion *** this work,three biomass wastes(coconut shells,walnut shells,and corn silk) were evaluated as potential precursors for HC preparation involving a pyrolysis process and subsequent acid washing to remove the inorganic *** obtained materials exhibited low and similar specific surface areas(g^(-1)), but they presented different structures and surface *** walnut shell HC possessed a lower amount of inorganic impurities and oxygen-based functional groups compared to the coconut shell and corn silk HCs,leading to higher initial coulombic efficiency(iCE).The structural organization was higher in the case of the walnut shell HC,while the corn silk HC revealed a heterogeneous structure combining both highly disordered carbon and localized graphitized *** HCs delivered high initial reversible capacities between 293 and 315 mAh g^(-1) at 50 mA g^(-1) current rate,which remained rather stable during long-term *** best capacity(293 mAh g^(-1) after 100 charge/discharge cycles) and highest capacity retention(93%) was achieved in walnut HCs in half-cells,which could be associated with its higher sp2 C content,better organized structure,and fewer *** "adsorption-insertion" Na storage mechanism is suggested based on several *** walnut HCs exhibited an attractive energy density of 279 Wh/kg when tested in full cells.

Modeling of unidirectional blood flow in microvessels with effects of shear-induced dispersion and particle migration

Analgesic effect of inhaled lavender essential oil for frenotomy in healthy neonates:a randomized clinical trial

Waste glass(Wgs)and Coir fiber(Cf)are not widely utilized,even though their silica and cellulose content can be used to create construction *** study aimed to optimize mortar compressive strength using Response Surface Methodology(RSM).The Central Composite Design(CCD)was applied to determine the optimization of Wgs and Cf addition to the mortar compressive *** strength and microstructure testing with Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM),fourier-transform Infrared Spectroscopy.f.-IR),and X-Ray Diffraction(XRD)were conducted to specify the mechanical ability and bonding between the matrix,Cf,and *** results showed that the chemical treatment of Cf produced 49.15%cellulose,with an average particle size of 1521μ*** regression of a second-order polynomial model yielded an optimum composition consisting of 12.776%Wgs and 2.344%Cf with a predicted compressive strength of 19.1023 MPa.C-S-H gels were identified in the mortars due to the dissolving of SiO_(2) in Wgs and *** silica from Wgs increased the C-S-H *** plays a role in preventing,bridging,and branching micro-cracks before reaching maximum *** aggregates and chemically treated Cf are suitable to be composited in mortar to increase compressive strength.
