In vivo monitoring of animal physiological information plays a crucial role in promptly alerting humans to potential diseases in animals and aiding in the exploration of mechanisms underlying human diseases.Currently,implantable electrochemical microsensors have emerged as a prominent area of research.These microsensors not only fulfill the technical requirements for monitoring animal physiological information but also offer an ideal platform for integration.They have been extensively studied for their ability to monitor animal physiological information in a minimally invasive manner,characterized by their bloodless,painless features,and exceptional performance.The development of implantable electrochemical microsensors for in vivo monitoring of animal physiological information has witnessed significant scientific and technological advancements through dedicated efforts.This review commenced with a comprehensive discussion of the construction of microsensors,including the materials utilized and the methods employed for fabrication.Following this,we proceeded to explore the various implantation technologies employed for electrochemical microsensors.In addition,a comprehensive overview was provided of the various applications of implantable electrochemical microsensors,specifically in the monitoring of diseases and the investigation of disease mechanisms.Lastly,a concise conclusion was conducted on the recent advancements and significant obstacles pertaining to the practical implementation of implantable electrochemical microsensors.

Towards accurate mapping of loess waterworn gully by integrating google earth imagery and DEM using deep learning

Accurate mapping of loess waterworn gully(LWG)is essential to further study gully erosion and geomorphological evolution for the Chinese Loess Plateau(CLP).Due to the vertical joint and collapsibility of loess,LWGs have the characteristics of zigzag and unique slope abruptness under synthetic action of hydraulic force and gravity.This forces existing LWG mapping methods to either focus on the improvement of mapping accuracy or center on the increase of mapping efficiency.However,simultaneously achieving accurate and efficient mapping of LWG is still in its infancy under complex topographic conditions.Here,we proposed a method that innovatively integrates the loess slope abruptness feature into an improved deep learning semantic segmentation framework for LWG mapping using 0.6 m Google imagery and 5 m DEM data.We selected four study areas representing typical loess landforms to test the performance of our method.The proposed method can achieve satisfactory mapping results,with the F1 score,mean Intersection-over-Union(mIoU),and overall accuracy of 90.5%,85.3%,and 92.3%,respectively.In addition,the proposed model also showed significant accuracy improvement by inputting additional topographic information(especially the slope of slope).Compared with existing algorithms(Random forests,original DeepLabV3+,and Unet),the proposed approach in this study achieved a better accuracy-efficiency trade-off.Overall,the method can ensure high accuracy and efficiency of the LWG mapping for different loess landform types and can be extended to study various loess gully mapping and water and soil conservation.

Objective:To investigate whether electroacupuncture(EA) at sensitized acupoints could reduce sympathetic-sensory coupling(SSC) and neurogenic inflammatory response by interfering with 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT)ergic neural pathways to relieve colitis and somatic referred pain,and explore the underlying mechanisms.Methods:Rats were treated with 5% dextran sodium sulfate(DSS) solution for 7 days to establish a colitis model.Twelve rats were randomly divided into the control and model groups according to a random number table(n=6).According to the Research on Rat Acupoint Atlas",sensitized acupoints and non-sensitized acupoints were determined.Rats were randomly divided into the control,model,Zusanli-EA(ST 36),Dachangshu-EA(BL 25),and Xinshu(BL 15) groups(n=6),as well as the control,model,EA,and EA+GR113808(a 5-HT inhibitor)groups(n=6).The rats in the control group received no treatment.Acupuncture was administered on 2 days after modeling using the stimulation pavameters:1 mA,2 Hz,for 30 min,with sparse and dense waves,for 14 consecutive days.GR113808 was injected into the tail vein at 5 mg/kg before EA for 10 min for 7 consecutive days.Mechanical sensitivity was assessed with von Frey filaments.Body weight and disease activity index(DAI) scores of rats were determined.Hematoxylin and eosin staining was performed to observe colon histopathology.SSC was analyzed by immunofluorescence staining.Immunohistochemical staining was performed to detect 5-HT and substance P(SP) expressions.The calcitonin gene-related peptide(CGRP) in skin tissue and tyrosine hydroxylase(TH) protein levels in DRG were detected by Western blot.The levels of hyaluronic acid(HA),bradykinin(BK),prostaglandin I2(PGI2) in skin tissue,5-HT,tryptophan hydroxylase 1(TPH1),serotonin transporters(SERT),5-HT 3 receptor(5-HT3R),and 5-HT 4 receptor(5-HT4R) in colon tissue were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(EliSA).Results:BL 25 and ST 36 acupoints were determined as sensitized acupoints,and BL 15 acupoint was used as a non-sensitized acupoint

Models to Simulate Effective Coverage of Fire Station Based on Real-Time Travel Times

In recent years,frequent fire disasters have led to enormous damage in China.Effective firefighting rescues can minimize the losses caused by fires.During the rescue processes,the travel time of fire trucks can be severely affected by traffic conditions,changing the effective coverage of fire stations.However,it is still challenging to determine the effective coverage of fire stations considering dynamic traffic conditions.This paper addresses this issue by combining the traveling time calculationmodelwith the effective coverage simulationmodel.In addition,it proposes a new index of total effective coverage area(TECA)based on the time-weighted average of the effective coverage area(ECA)to evaluate the urban fire services.It also selects China as the case study to validate the feasibility of the models,a fire station(FS-JX)in Changsha.FS-JX station and its surrounding 9,117 fire risk points are selected as the fire service supply and demand points,respectively.A total of 196 simulation scenarios throughout a consecutiveweek are analyzed.Eventually,1,933,815 sets of valid sample data are obtained.The results showed that the TECA of FS-JX is 3.27 km^(2),which is far below the standard requirement of 7.00 km^(2) due to the traffic conditions.The visualization results showed that three rivers around FS-JX interrupt the continuity of its effective coverage.The proposed method can provide data support to optimize the locations of fire stations by accurately and dynamically determining the effective coverage of fire stations.

Ketogenic diet therapy in children with epilepsy caused by SLC2A1 mutations:a single-center single-arm retrospective study

Background This retrospective study assessed the efficacy and safety of ketogenic diet therapies in children with epilepsy caused by SLC2A1 genetic mutations and glucose transporter type 1 deficiency syndrome.Methods Pediatric patients with epilepsy symptoms admitted to our medical center between January 2017 and October 2021 were included if they presented with an SLC2A1 genetic mutation on whole-exome sequencing.We analyzed the patients’convulsions and treatment with antiepileptic drugs.The patients were followed up at different time periods after ketogenic diet therapies.Results Six patients with SLC2A1 mutations were included in this study.The patients had seizures of different types and frequencies,and they took antiepileptic drugs to relieve their symptoms.They were then treated with a ketogenic diet for at least four months.We analyzed epilepsy control rates at 1,2,3,6,and 12 months after ketogenic diet treatment.All patients were seizure-free within a month of receiving the diet therapy.All patients were followed up for six months,three were followed up for 12 months after the treatment,and there was no recurrence of epilepsy during this period.After antiepileptic drug withdrawal,none of the patients experienced seizure relapse when receiving ketogenic diet treatment alone.No severe adverse events occurred during the therapy.Conclusions Ketogenic diet therapy is very effective and safe for the treatment of epilepsy caused by SLC2A1 mutations.Therefore,patients with glucose transporter type 1 deficiency syndrome caused by SLC2A1 mutations should begin ketogenic diet treatment as soon as possible.

Structural Engineering of Hierarchical Magnetic/Carbon Nanocomposites via In Situ Growth for High-Efficient Electromagnetic Wave Absorption

Materials exhibiting high-performance electromagnetic wave absorption have garnered considerable scientific and technological attention,yet encounter significant challenges.Developing new materials and innovative structural design concepts is crucial for expanding the application field of electromagnetic wave absorption.Particularly,hierarchical structure engineering has emerged as a promising approach to enhance the physical and chemical properties of materials,providing immense potential for creating versatile electromagnetic wave absorption materials.Herein,an exceptional multi-dimensional hierarchical structure was meticulously devised,unleashing the full microwave attenuation capabilities through in situ growth,selfreduction,and multi-heterogeneous interface integration.The hierarchical structure features a three-dimensional carbon framework,where magnetic nanoparticles grow in situ on the carbon skeleton,creating a necklace-like structure.Furthermore,magnetic nanosheets assemble within this framework.Enhanced impedance matching was achieved by precisely adjusting component proportions,and intelligent integration of diverse interfaces bolstered dielectric polarization.The obtain Fe_(3)O_(4)-Fe nanoparticles/carbon nanofibers/Al-Fe_(3)O_(4)-Fe nanosheets composites demonstrated outstanding performance with a minimum reflection loss(RLmin)value of−59.3 dB and an effective absorption bandwidth(RL≤−10 dB)extending up to 5.6 GHz at 2.2 mm.These notable accomplishments offer fresh insights into the precision design of high-efficient electromagnetic wave absorption materials.

Lung cancer is the second most common and the deadliest type of cancer worldwide.Clinically,non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)is the most com-mon pathological type of lung cancer;approximately one-third of affected patients have locally advanced NSCLC(LA-NSCLC,stage III NSCLC)at diag-nosis.Because of its heterogeneity,LA-NSCLC often requires multidisciplinary assessment.Moreover,the prognosis of affected patients is much below satisfac-tion,and the efficacy of traditional therapeutic strategies has reached a plateau.With the emergence of targeted therapies and immunotherapies,as well as the continuous development of novel radiotherapies,we have entered an era of novel treatment paradigm for LA-NSCLC.Here,we reviewed the landscape of relevant therapeutic modalities,including adjuvant,neoadjuvant,and periop-erative targeted and immune strategies in patients with resectable LA-NSCLC with/without oncogenic alterations;as well as novel combinations of chemora-diation and immunotherapy/targeted therapy in unresectable LA-NSCLC.We addressed the unresolved challenges that remain in the field,and examined future directions to optimize clinical management and increase the cure rate of LA-NSCLC.

Supermassive black holes triggered by QCD axion bubbles

Supermassive black holes(SMBHs)are ubiquitous in the center of galaxies,although the origin of their massive seeds is still unknown.In this paper,we investigate the formation of SMBHs from the quantum chromodynamics(QCD)axion bubbles.In this case,primordial black holes(PBHs)are considered as the seeds of SMBHs,which are generated from the QCD axion bubbles due to an explicit Peccei–Quinn(PQ)symmetry breaking after inflation.The QCD axion bubbles are formed when the QCD axion starts to oscillate during the QCD phase transition.We consider a general case in which the axion bubbles are formed with the bubble effective angleθeff∈(0,π],leading to the minimum PBH mass∼O(10^(4)−10^(7))M⊙for the axion decay constant f_(a)∼O(10^(16))GeV.The PBHs at this mass region may account for the seeds of SMBHs.

Fast,simple,efficient Agrobacterium rhizogenes-mediated transformation system to non-heading Chinese cabbage with transgenic roots

Non-heading Chinese cabbage, a variety of Brassica campestris, is an important vegetable crop in the Yangtze River Basin of China. However,the immaturity of its stable transformation system and its low transformation efficiency limit gene function research on non-heading Chinese cabbage. Agrobacterium rhizogenes-mediated(ARM) transgenic technology is a rapid and effective transformation method that has not yet been established for non-heading Chinese cabbage plants. Here, we optimized conventional ARM approaches(one-step and two-step transformation methods) suitable for living non-heading Chinese cabbage plants in nonsterile environments. Transgenic roots in composite non-heading Chinese cabbage plants were identified using phenotypic detection, fluorescence observation, and PCR analysis. The transformation efficiency of a two-step method on four five-day-old non-heading Chinese cabbage seedlings(Suzhouqing, Huangmeigui, Wuyueman, and Sijiu Caixin) was 43.33%-51.09%, whereas using the stout hypocotyl resulted in a transformation efficiency of 54.88% for the 30-day-old Sijiu Caixin.The one-step method outperformed the two-step method;the transformation efficiency of different varieties was above 60%, and both methods can be used to obtain transgenic roots for functional studies within one month. Finally, optimized ARM transformation methods can easily,quickly, and effectively produce composite non-heading Chinese cabbage plants with transgenic roots, providing a reliable foundation for gene function research and non-heading Chinese cabbage genetic improvement breeding.

As positioning sensors,edge computation power,and communication technologies continue to develop,a moving agent can now sense its surroundings and communicate with other agents.By receiving spatial information from both its environment and other agents,an agent can use various methods and sensor types to localize itself.With its high flexibility and robustness,collaborative positioning has become a widely used method in both military and civilian applications.This paper introduces the basic fundamental concepts and applications of collaborative positioning,and reviews recent progress in the field based on camera,liDAR(light Detection and Ranging),wireless sensor,and their integration.The paper compares the current methods with respect to their sensor type,summarizes their main paradigms,and analyzes their evaluation experiments.Finally,the paper discusses the main challenges and open issues that require further research.
