Driven by the rapid development of the Internet of Things,cloud computing and other emerging technologies,the connotation of cyberspace is constantly expanding and becoming the fifth dimension of human activities.However,security problems in cyberspace are becoming serious,and traditional defense measures(e.g.,firewall,intrusion detection systems,and security audits)often fall into a passive situation of being prone to attacks and difficult to take effect when responding to new types of network attacks with a higher and higher degree of coordination and intelligence.By constructing and implementing the diverse strategy of dynamic transformation,the configuration characteristics of systems are constantly changing,and the probability of vulnerability exposure is increasing.Therefore,the difficulty and cost of attack are increasing,which provides new ideas for reversing the asymmetric situation of defense and attack in cyberspace.Nonetheless,few related works systematically introduce dynamic defense mechanisms for cyber security.The related concepts and development strategies of dynamic defense are rarely analyzed and summarized.To bridge this gap,we conduct a comprehensive and concrete survey of recent research efforts on dynamic defense in cyber security.Specifically,we firstly introduce basic concepts and define dynamic defense in cyber security.Next,we review the architectures,enabling techniques and methods for moving target defense and mimic defense.This is followed by taxonomically summarizing the implementation and evaluation of dynamic defense.Finally,we discuss some open challenges and opportunities for dynamic defense in cyber security.

CEOs’political ideologies and innovation:Evidence from US public firms

Using both the number of patents and the number of citations that the patents receive as the measures of innovation and using political donations as an indicator of the chief executive officer(CEO)’s political preferences,we find that(1)firms led by CEOs with and without political partisanship show no differences in terms of innovation outputs;and(2)there are no differences between firms led by Republican and Democratic CEOs when it comes to innov-ation.The results are robust to a propensity-score-matching regres-sion,a firm fixed effect regression,and alternate measures of innovation.Overall,the results suggest that CEOs’personal political ideologies do not significantly affect their innovation decisions.

Transfer film effects induced by 3D-printed polyether-ether-ketone with excellent tribological properties for joint prosthesis

Based on the building principle of additive manufacturing,printing orientation mainly determines the tribological properties of joint prostheses.In this study,we created a polyether-ether-ketone(PEEK)joint prosthesis using fused filament fabrication and investigated the effects of printing orientation on its tribological properties using a pin-on-plate tribometer in 25% newborn calf serum.An ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene transfer film is formed on the surface of PEEK due to the mechanical capture of wear debris by the 3D-printed groove morphology,which is significantly impacted by the printing orientation of PEEK.When the printing orientation was parallel to the sliding direction of friction,the number and size of the transfer film increased due to higher steady stress.This transfer film protected the matrix and reduced the friction coefficient and wear rate of friction pairs by 39.13%and 74.33%,respectively.Furthermore,our findings provide a novel perspective regarding the role of printing orientation in designing knee prostheses,facilitating its practical applications.

Circadian clock and temporal meal pattern

The central circadian clock in the brain controls the time-of-the-day variations in acute meal responses,with a low glycemic response but a high satiety/thermo-genic response to meals consumed at waking compared to other time points.Consistently,studies show that consuming a significant proportion of calories,particularly carbohydrates,in breakfast is beneficial for the chronic management of obesity and its associated metabolic syndrome,compared to consuming identical meals at dinner.Conversely,breakfast skipping or/and late dinner can have unfavorable metabolic outcomes.It remains controversial how meal frequency affects metabolic health.In contrast,irregular meals,especially irregular breakfasts,show consistent adverse metabolic consequences.Time-restricted feeding(TRF),with all calories consumed within less than 12-h per day,can improve metabolism and extend lifespan.A major component of TRF in humans is caloric restriction,which contributes significantly to the beneficial effects of TRF in humans.By comparison,TRF effects in rodents can be independent of caloric restriction and show day/night phase specificity.TRF could alleviate metabolic abnormalities due to circadian disruption,but its effects appear independent of the circadian clock in rodents.Understanding neuroendocrine mechanisms underlying clock-mediated metabolic regulation will shed light on the metabolic effects of temporal meal patterns.

Sulfolane-Graphite Incompatibility and Its Mitigation in li-ion Batteries

The non-flammability and high oxidation stability of sulfolane(SL)make it an excellent electrolyte candidate for lithium-ion batteries(liBs).However,its incompatibility with graphitic anode prevents the realization of these advantages.To understand how this incompatibility arises on molecular level so that it can be suppressed,we combined theoretical calculation and experimental characterization and reveal that the primary li^(+) solvation sheath in SL is depleted of fluorine source.Upon reduction,SL in such fluorine-poor solvation sheath generates insoluble dimer with poor electronic insulation,hence leading to slow but sustained parasitic reactions.When fluorine content in li^(+)-SL solvation sheath is increased via salt concentration,a high stability liF-rich interphase on graphite can be formed.This new understanding of the failure mechanism of graphite in SL-based electrolyte is of great significance in unlocking many possible electrolyte solvent candidates for the high-voltage cathode materials for next-generation liBs.

Compression loading of osteoclasts attenuated micro RNA-146a-5p expression,which promotes angiogenesis by targeting adiponectin

Osteoclastogenesis in alveolar bone induced by compression stress triggers orthodontic tooth movement.Compression stress also stimulates angiogenesis,which is essential for osteoclastogenesis.However,the effects of osteoclastogenesis induced by compression on angiogenesis are poorly understood.In vivo,we found the markers of angiogenesis increased during orthodontic bone remodeling.In vitro,osteoclast-derived exosomes increased proliferation,migration,and tube formation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs),as well as expression of vascular endothelial growth factor and CD31.The promotive effects of exosomes derived from compressed osteoclasts were greater than those derived from osteoclasts without compression.Next,we analyzed changes in the micro RNA transcriptome after compression stress and focused on micro RNA146 a-5 p(mi R-146 a),which was significantly decreased by compression.Transfection of an inhibitor of mi R-146 a stimulated angiogenesis of HUVECs while mi R-146 a mimics repressed angiogenesis.Adiponectin(ADP)was confirmed to be a target of mi R-146 a by dual luciferase reporter assay.In HUVECs treated with exosomes,we detected increased ADP which promoted angiogenesis.Knockdown of ADP in HUVECs reduced the promotive effects of exosomes.Our results demonstrate that the decreased mi R-146 a observed in osteoclasts after compression promotes angiogenesis by targeting ADP,suggesting a novel method to interfere with bone remodeling induced by compression stress.

Salinity elevates Cd bioaccumulation of sea rice cultured under co-exposure of cadmium and salt

Salt-tolerant rice (sea rice) is a key cultivar for increasing rice yields in salinity soil.The co-existence of salinity and cadmium (Cd) toxicities in the plant-soil system has become a great challenge for sustainable agriculture,especially in some estuaries and coastal areas.However,little information is available on the Cd accumulating features of sea rice under the co-stress of Cd and salinity.In this work,a hydroponic experiment with combined Cd(0,0.2,0.8 mg/L Cd^(2+)) and saline (0,0.6%,and 1.2%NaCl,W/V) levels and a pot experiment were set to evaluate the Cd toxic risks of sea rice.The hydroponic results showed that more Cd accumulated in sea rice than that in the reported high-Cd-accumulating rice,Chang Xianggu.It indicated an interesting synergistic effect between Cd and Na levels in sea rice,and the Cd level rose significantly with a concomitant increase in Na level in both shoot(r=0.54,plity against oxidative stress.The pot experiment indicated that the coexistent Cd and salinity stress further inhibited the rice growth and rice yield,and the Cd concentration in rice grain was below 0.2 mg/kg.Collectively,this work provides a general understanding of the co-stress of Cd and salinity on the growth and Cd accumulation of sea rice.Additional work is required to precisely identify the phytoremediation potential of sea rice in Cd-polluted saline soil.

Reliability criterion of film capacitor based on moisture diffusion in encapsulation

The current reliability criterion(RC)of the film capacitor(FC)is usually a fixed value,which does not consider the staged capacitance loss caused by moisture diffusion under high temperature and/or high humidity.The expected lifetime of capacitors would deviate far from the actual one.The moisture diffusion process of the encapsulated FC is ana-lysed based on Fick's second law.In order to investigate the capacitance loss and moisture diffusion characteristics,4 types of film capacitors are stressed with AC voltage under different temperatures and humidities.Based on the staged analysis of the capacitance and weight gain curves,the effect of moisture diffusion on capacitance loss is revealed.Results indicate that the linear stage of capacitance loss corresponds to the Fickian moisture diffusion stage of weight gain.The effect of voltage on FC aging is the most significant.The capacitance loss rate increases by 301%when the voltage rises by 30%.An RC calculation method of the FC is further proposed,which could also screen the encap-sulation quality and shorten the aging test duration by at least 80%.

Penetration into a granular bed in the presence of upward gas flows

We present a numerical study on the penetration of spherical projectiles into a granular bed in the presence of upward gas flows.Due to the presence of interstitial fluid,the force chains between particles in the granular bed are weakened significantly,and this distinguishes the penetration behavior from that in the absence of fluid.An interesting phenomenon,namely granular jet,is observed during the penetration,and the mechanism for its formation and growth is attributed to the merging of granular vortices generated by the interaction between the intruder and primary particles.Moreover,both the final penetration depth and the maximum diameter of the crater are found to follow a power-law dependence with the impact velocity,and the maximum height reached by the granular jet tends to increase linearly as the impact velocity increases,agreeing well with the experimental results reported in the literature.

The mutation-mediated overexpression of epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase(EGFR TK)and its activation play an important role in the cellular proliferation and epithelial tumorigenesis.A series of inhibitors targeting the intracellular tyrosine kinase(TK)domain of EGFR have been developed and applied to clinical practice.Although these inhibitors safely and effectively restrain tumor cell proliferation and prolong survival in some patients,acquired resistance ultimately arises.DNA mutations contribute to druginduced cancer-cell resistance.
