Enhanced electrochemical performance of li_(1.3)Al_(0.3)Ti_(1.7)(PO_(4))_(3) solid electrolyte by anion doping

Nowadays,the majority of the studies on the substitution are focused on cations(such as Y^(3+),Ti^(4+),P^(5+),etc.)in li_(1.3)Al_(0.3)Ti_(1.7)(PO_(4))_(3)(LATP),while there are few studies on the substitution of anion O^(2-).In this work,the modified LATP with a series of liCl(LATPClx,x=0.1,0.2,0.3,0.4)additives is prepared to enhance ionic conductivity.The successful introduction of Cl-makes the length of the c axis decrease from 20.822(2)to 20.792(1)Å,and the bulk conductivity of 2.13×10^(-3) S·cm^(-1) is achieved in LATPCl_(0.3).Moreover,the Al/Ti-O1/Cl1 and Al/Ti-O_(2)/Cl_(2) distance decrease,while the li1-O_(2)/Cl_(2) distance increases.lithium ions migrate more easily in the nanochannel of M3-M1-M3.In addition,the liCl additive increases the relative density and the grain boundary conductivity of LATPClx compounds.Naturally,a higher ionic conductivity of 2.12×10^(–4) S·cm^(-1) and a low activation energy of 0.30 eV are obtained in LATPCl_(0.3).Correspondingly,the symmetric cell exhibits a low overpotential of±50 mV for over 200 h in LATPCl_(0.3).The solid-state li|LATPCl_(0.3)|NCM811(NCM811=liNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O_(2))battery exhibits high initial capacity 185.1 mAh·g^(-1) with a capacity retention rate of 95.4%after 100 cycles at 0.5 C.This result suggests that liCl additive is an effective strategy to promote electrochemical properties of LATP solid electrolyte and can be considered for reference to other inorganic solid electrolytes systems.

Superior piezoelectric performance with high operating temperature in bismuth ferrite-based ternary ceramics

Due to the thermal depolarization effect,adequate piezoelectric performance with high operating temperature is regarded to be challenging to accomplish concurrently in piezoceramics for applications in specific piezoelectric devices.In this work,we synthesized(0.8−x)BiFeO_(3)-x PbTi_(3)-0.2Ba(Zr_(0.25)Ti_(0.75))O_(3)(abbreviated as BFO-x PT-BZT)ternary solid solutions with 0.15≤x≤0.30 by conventional solid-state reaction method.The MPB composition with a coexisting state of rhombohedral-tetragonal phases exhibits enhanced electromechanical properties,including Curie temperature of 380℃,large-signal equivalent piezoelectric coefficient d^(∗)_(33)of 395 pm V^(-1),small-signal piezoelectric coefficient d_(33)of 302 pC N^(-1),and electromechanical coupling factor k_(p)of 50.2%,which is comparable to commercial PZT-5A ceramics,indicating potential in high-temperature applications.Furthermore,in-situ X-ray diffraction(XRD)and piezoelectric force microscopic(PFM)techniques demonstrate that multiphase coexistence and complex nanodomains promote piezoelectric response via synergism.The x=0.24 composition exhibits the highest in-situ d_(33)of 577 pC N^(-1)and good temperature stability in 30−280℃,indicating that BZT-modified BFO-PT ceramics are promising candidates for high-temperature piezoelectric devices.

A Review on Particle Reinforced Mg Matrix Composites Fabricated by Powder Metallurgy

This paper provides a comprehensive review of research progress in particle-reinforced Mg matrix composites prepared via powder metallurgy.The article discusses different strategies,such as micro-sized,nano-sized particles,and multi-particle hybridization,which has been employed to enhance the performance of the composites.In addition,a range of preparation techniques that optimize the dispersion of the reinforcing particles are summarized.The paper also highlights how the different configurations between the reinforcements and matrix alloy impact the composites’performance.Finally,the article outlines the prospects of particles reinforced Mg matrix composites fabricated via powder metallurgy and recommends modification methods that could be explored to further develop these materials for various applications.

The increasing awareness of environmental concerns has prompted a surge in the exploration of leadfree,high-power ceramic capacitors.Ongoing efforts to develop leadfree dielectric ceramics with exceptional energystorage performance(ESP)have predominantly relied on multicomponent composite strategies,often accomplished under ultrahigh electric fields.However,this approach poses challenges in insulation and system downsizing due to the necessary working voltage under such conditions.Despite extensive study,bulk ceramics of(Bi_(0.5)Na_(0.5))TiO_(3)(BNT),a prominent lead-free dielectric ceramic family,have seldom achieved a recoverable energy-storage(ES)density(Wrec)exceeding 7 J cm^(−3).This study introduces a novel approach to attain ceramic capacitors with high ESP under moderate electric fields by regulating permittivity based on a linear dielectric model,enhancing insulation quality,and engineering domain structures through chemical formula optimization.The incorporation of SrTiO_(3)(ST)into the BNT matrix is revealed to reduce the dielectric constant,while the addition of Bi(Mg_(2/3)Nb_(1/3))O_(3)(BMN)aids in maintaining polarization.Additionally,the study elucidates the methodology to achieve high ESP at moderate electric fields ranging from 300 to 500 kV cm^(−1).In our optimized composition,0.5(Bi_(0.5)Na_(0.4)K_(0.1))TiO_(3)–0.5(2/3ST-1/3BMN)(B-0.5SB)ceramics,we achieved a Wrec of 7.19 J cm^(−3) with an efficiency of 93.8%at 460 kV cm^(−1).Impressively,the B-0.5SB ceramics exhibit remarkable thermal stability between 30 and 140℃ under 365 kV cm^(−1),maintaining a Wrec exceeding 5 J cm^(−3).This study not only establishes the B-0.5SB ceramics as promising candidates for ES materials but also demonstrates the feasibility of optimizing ESP by modifying the dielectric constant under specific electric field conditions.Simultaneously,it provides valuable insights for the future design of ceramic capacitors with high ESP under constraints of limited electric field.

Premature ovarian insufficiency(POI)is a heterogeneous female disorder characterized by the loss of ovarian function before the age of 40.It represents a significant detriment to female fertility.However,the known POI-causative genes currently account for only a fraction of cases.To elucidate the genetic factors underlying POI,we conducted whole-exome sequencing on a family with three fertile POI patients and identified a deleterious missense variant in RNF111.In a subsequent replication study involving 1,030 POI patients,this variant was not only confirmed but also accompanied by the discovery of three additional predicted deleterious RNF111 variants.These variants collectively account for eight cases,representing 0.78%of the study cohort.A further study involving 500 patients with diminished ovarian reserve also identified two additional RNF111 variants.Notably,RNF111 encodes an E3 ubiquitin ligase with a regulatory role in the TGF-β/BMP signaling pathway.Our analysis revealed that RNF111/RNF111 is predominantly expressed in the oocytes of mice,monkeys,and humans.To further investigate the functional implications of RNF111 variants,we generated two mouse models:one with a heterozygous missense mutation(Rnf111+/M)and another with a heterozygous null mutation(Rnf111^(+/-)).Both mouse models exhibited impaired female fertility,characterized by reduced litter sizes and small ovarian reserve.Additionally,RNA-seq and quantitative proteomics analysis unveiled that Rnf111 haploinsufficiency led to dysregulation in female gonad development and negative regulation of the BMP signaling pathway within mouse ovaries.In conclusion,our findings strongly suggest that monoallelic deleterious variants in RNF111 can impair female fertility and induce POI in both humans and mice.

Comparative Experimental Study on Heat Transfer Characteristics of Building Exterior Surface at High and Low Altitudes

The external surface heat transfer coefficient of building envelope is one of the important parameters necessary for building energy saving design,but the basic data in high-altitude area are scarce.Therefore,the authors propose a modified measurement method based on the heat balance of a model building,and use the same model building to measure its external surface heat transfer coefficient under outdoor conditions in Chengdu city,China at an altitude of 520 m and Daocheng city at an altitude of 3750 m respectively.The results show that the total heat transfer coefficient(h_(t))of building surface in high-altitude area is reduced by 34.48%.The influence of outdoor wind speed on the convective heat transfer coefficient(h_(c))in high-altitude area is not as significant as that in low-altitude area.The fitting relation between convection heat transfer coefficient and outdoor wind speed is also obtained.Under the same heating power,the average temperature rise of indoor and outdoor air at highaltitude is 41.9%higher than that at low altitude,and the average temperature rise of inner wall is 25.8%higher than that at low altitude.It shows that high-altitude area can create a more comfortable indoor thermal environment than low-altitude area under the same energy consumption condition.It is not appropriate to use the heat transfer characteristics of the exterior surface of buildings in low-altitude area for building energy saving design and related heating equipment selection and system terminal matching design in high-altitude area.

De Novo Dissecting the Three‑Dimensional Facial Morphology of 2379 Han Chinese Individuals

Phenotypic diversity,especially that of facial morphology,has not been fully investigated in the Han Chinese,which is the largest ethnic group in the world.In this study,we systematically analyzed a total of 14,838 facial traits representing 15 categories with both a large-scale three-dimensional(3D)manual landmarking database and computer-aided facial segmented phenotyping in 2379 Han Chinese individuals.Our results illustrate that homogeneous and heterogeneous facial morphological traits exist among Han Chinese populations across the three geographical regions:Zhengzhou,Taizhou,and Nanning.We identifed 1560 shared features from extracted phenotypes,which characterized well the basic facial morphology of the Han Chinese.In particular,heterogeneous phenotypes showing population structures corresponded to geographical subpopulations.The greatest facial variation among these geographical populations was the angle of glabella,left subalare,and right cheilion(p=3.4×10^(−161)).Interestingly,we found that Han Chinese populations could be classifed into northern Han,central Han,and southern Han at the phenotypic level,and the facial morphological variation pattern of central Han Chinese was between the typical diferentiation of northern and southern Han Chinese.This result was highly consistent with the results revealed by the genetic data.These fndings provide new insights into the analysis of multidimensional phenotypes as well as a valuable resource for further facial phenotype-genotype association studies in Han Chinese and East Asian populations.

T-box transcription factor T(TBXT;T)is required for mesodermal formation and axial skeletal development.Although it has been extensively studied in various model organisms,human congenital vertebral malformations(CVMs)involving T are not well established.Here,we report a family with 15 CVM patients distributed across 4 generations.All affected individuals carry a heterozygous mutation,T c.596A>G(p.Q199R),which is not found in unaffected family members,indicating co-segregation of the genotype and phenotype.In vitro assays show that T p.Q199R increases the nucleocytoplasmic ratio and enhances its DNA-binding affinity,but reduces its transcriptional activity compared to the wild-type.To determine the pathogenicity of this mutation in vivo,we generated a Q199R knock-in mouse model that recapitulates the human CVM phenotype.Most heterozygous Q199R mice show subtle kinked or shortened tails,while homozygous mice exhibit tail filaments and severe vertebral deformities.Overall,we show that the Q199R mutation in T causes CVM in humans and mice,providing previously unreported evidence supporting the function of T in the genetic etiology of human CVM.

Cardiovascular health metrics are now widely recognized as modifable risk factors for cognitive decline and dementia.Metabolic perturbations might play roles in the linkage of cardiovascular diseases and dementia.Circulating metabolites profling by metabolomics may improve understanding of the potential mechanism by which cardiovascular risk factors contribute to cognitive decline.In a prospective community-based cohort in China(n=725),312 serum metabolic phenotypes were quantifed,and cardiovascular health score was calculated including smoking,exercise,sleep,diet,body mass index,blood pressure,and blood glucose.Cognitive function assessments were conducted in baseline and follow-up visits to identify longitudinal cognitive decline.A better cardiovascular health was signifcantly associated with lower risk of concentration decline and orientation decline(hazard ratio(HR):0.84–0.90;plipoprotein-A1,high-density lipoprotein(HDL)cholesterol,cholesterol ester,and phospholipid concentrations were signifcantly associated with a lower risk of longitudinal memory and orientation decline(pline was partly mediated by cholesterol ester and total lipids in HDL-2 and-3(proportion of mediation:7.68–8.21%,both pline,which were found to be mediated by circulating lipoproteins,particularly the medium-size HDL components.These fndings underscore the potential of utilizing lipoproteins as targets for early stage dementia screening and intervention.
