Serum tumor markers expression(CA199,CA242,and CEA)and its clinical implications in type 2 diabetes mellitus

bACKGROUND Glucose and lipid metabolic disorder in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)is associated with the levels of serum tumor markers of the digestive tract,such as cancer antigen(CA)***,tumor markers in T2DM are *** To evaluate the expression of serum tumor markers[CA199,CA242,and carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)]and the clinical implications of the expression in *** For this observational study conducted at hefei bOE hospital,China,we enrolled 82 patients with first-onset T2DM and 51 controls between April 2019 and December *** of fasting blood glucose(FbG),tumor markers(CA199,CEA,and CA242),glycosylated hemoglobin(hbA1c),*** measured and group index levels were ***,FbG and hbA1c levels were correlated with tumor marker *** markers were tested for diagnostic accuracy in patients with>9%hbA1c using the receiver operating curve(ROC)*** The T2DM group had high serum FbG,hbA1c,CA199,and CEA levels(Phe two groups based on hbA1c levels(Group A:hbA1c≤9%;Group b:hbA1c>9%)revealed significant differences in CEA and CA199 levels(Phe areas under the ROC curve for CEA and CA199 were 0.853 and 0.809,***199,CEA,and CA242 levels positively correlated with hbA1c(r=0.308,0.426,and 0.551,respectively)and FbG levels(r=0.236,0.231,and 0.298,respectively).CONCLUSION As compared to controls,serum CEA and CA199 levels were higher in patients with ***1c and FbG levels correlated with CA199,CEA,and CA242 *** with poorly controlled blood sugar must be screened for tumor markers.

Quantum speedup and limitations on matroid property problems

Matroid theory has been developed to be a mature branch of mathematics and has extensive applications in combinatorial optimization,algorithm design and so *** the other hand,quantum computing has attracted much attention and has been shown to surpass classical computing on solving some computational ***,crossover studies of the two fields seem to be missing in the *** paper initiates the study of quantum algorithms for matroid property *** is shown that quadratic quantum speedup is possible for the calculation problem of finding the girth or the number of circuits(bases,flats,hyperplanes)of a matroid,and for the decision problem of deciding whether a matroid is uniform or Eulerian,by giving a uniform lower boundΩ■on the query complexity of all these *** the other hand,for the uniform matroid decision problem,an asymptotically optimal quantum algorithm is proposed which achieves the lower bound,and for the girth problem,an almost optimal quantum algorithm is given with query complexityO■.In addition,for the paving matroid decision problem,a lower boundΩ■on the query complexity is obtained,and an O■ quantum algorithm is presented.

Multiscale feature learning and attention mechanism for infrared and visible image fusion

Current fusion methods for infrared and visible images tend to extract features at a single scale,which results in insufficient detail and incomplete feature *** address these issues,we propose an infrared and visible image fusion network based on a multiscale feature learning and attention mechanism(MsAFusion).A multiscale dilation convolution framework is employed to capture image features across various scales and broaden the perceptual ***,an attention network is introduced to enhance the focus on salient targets in infrared images and detailed textures in visible *** compensate for information loss during convolution,jump connections are utilized during the image reconstruction *** fusion process utilizes a combined loss function consisting of pixel loss and gradient loss for unsupervised fusion of infrared and visible *** experiments on the dataset of electricity facilities demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms nine state-of-theart methods in terms of visual perception and four objective evaluation metrics.

Monolithic textured perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells(TSCs)are expected to achieve maximum light capture at the lowest cost,potentially exh.b.ting the best power conversion ***,it is challenging to fabricate high-quality perovskite films and preferred crystal orientation on commercially textured silicon substrates with micrometersize ***,we introduced a bulky organic molecule(4-fluorobenzylamine hydroiodide(F-PMAI))as a perovskite *** is found that F-PMAI can retard the crystallization process of perovskite film through hydrogen bond interaction between F^(−)and FA^(+)and reduce(111)facet surface energy due to enhanced adsorption energy of F-PMAI on the(111)***,the bulky molecular is extruded to the bottom and top of perovskite film after crystal growth,which can passivate interface defects through strong interaction between F-PMA+and undercoordinated Pb^(2+)/I^(−).As a result,the additive facilitates the formation of large perovskite grains and(111)preferred orientation with a reduced trap-state density,thereby promoting charge carrier transportation,and enhancing device performance and *** perovskite/silicon TSCs achieved a champion efficiency of 30.05%based on a silicon thin film tunneling *** addition,the devices exh.b.t excellent longterm thermal and light stability without *** work provides an effective strategy for achieving efficient and stable TSCs.

Pentatricopeptide repeat(PPR)proteins represent one of the largest protein families in plants and typically localize to organelles like mitochondria and *** contrast,CYTOPLASMLOCAliZED PPR1(OsCPPR1)is a cytoplasm-localized PPR protein that can degrade OsGOLDENliKE1(OsGLK1)mRNA in the tapetum of rice ***,the mechanism,by which OsCPPR1 recognizes and binds to OsGLK1 transcripts,remains *** protein structure prediction and macromolecular docking experiments,we observed that distinct PPR motif structures of OsCPPR1 exh.b.ted varying binding efficiencies to OsGLK1 ***,RNA-electrophoretic mobility shift assay experiment demonstrated that the recombinant OsCPPR1 can directly recognize and bind to OsGLK1 mRNA in *** further confirmed that the mutations in the conserved amino acids in each PPR motif resulted in loss of activity,while truncation of OsCPPR1 decreased its binding *** findings collectively suggest that it may require some co-factors to assist in cleavage,a facet that warrants further exploration in subsequent studies.

Somatostatin,a naturally produced neuroprotective peptide,depresses excitatory neurotransmission and exerts anti-proliferative and anti-inflammatory effects on the *** this review,we summarize the progress of somatostatin treatment of diabetic retinopathy through analysis of relevant studies published from February 2019 to February 2023 extracted from the PubMed and Google Scholar *** neuroprotection,which occurs as a consequence of declined expression or dysregulation of retinal somatostatin in the very early stages of diabetic retinopathy,triggers retinal neurovascular unit impairment and microvascular *** replacement is a promising treatment for retinal neurodegeneration in diabetic *** pre-clinical and clinical trials of somatostatin analog treatment for early diabetic retinopathy have been *** one such trial(EUROCONDOR),topical administration of somatostatin was found to exert neuroprotective effects in patients with pre-existing retinal neurodysfunction,but had no impact on the onset of diabetic ***,we concluded that somatostatin restoration may be especially beneficial for the growing population of patients with early-stage *** order to achieve early prevention of diabetic retinopathy initiation,and thereby salvage visual function before the appearance of moderate non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy,several issues need to be *** include the needs to:a)update and standardize the retinal screening scheme to incorporate the detection of early neurodegeneration,b)identify patient subgroups who would benefit from somatostatin analog supplementation,c)elucidate the interactions of somatostatin,particularly exogenously-delivered somatostatin analogs,with other retinal peptides in the context of hyperglycemia,and d)design safe,feasible,low cost,and effective administration routes.

Polaron interfacial entropy as a route to high thermoelectric performance in DAE-doped PEDOT:PSS films

Enhancing the thermoelectric transport properties of conductive polymer materials has been a long-term challenge, in spite of the success seen with molecular doping strategies. however, the strong coupling between the thermopower and the electrical conductivity limits thermoelectric performance. here, we use polaron interfacial occupied entropy engineering to break through this intercoupling for a PEDOT:PSS(poly（3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene）-poly（4-styrenesulfonate）) thin film by using photochromic diarylethene（DAE） dopants coupled with UV-light modulation. With a 10-fold enhancement of the thermopower from 13.5 μV K-1to 135.4 μV K-1and almost unchanged electrical conductivity, the DAE-doped PEDOT:PSS thin film achieved an extremely high power factor of 521.28 μW m-1K-2from an original value of 6.78 μW m-1K-2. The thermopower was positively correlated with the UV-light intensity but decreased with increasing temperature, indicating resonant coupling between the planar closed DAE molecule and PEDOT. both the experiments and theoretical calculations consistently confirmed the formation of an interface state due to this resonant coupling. Interfacial entropy engineering of polarons could play a critical role in enhancing the thermoelectric performance of the organic film.

The interventional effect of Polygonatum cyrtonema hua polysaccharide on atherosclerosis in mice of different sexes

In the present study,we investigated the intervention effects of a purified Polygonatum cyrtonema polysaccharide(PCP)on high-fat diet(hFD)-induced atherosclerosis in male and female LDLr-/-*** showed that hFD caused severe dyslipidemia,atherosclerotic lesions,oxidative damages and inflammation in male and female mice,and these effects seemed to be more pronounced in males than in ***,the above variations could be dose-dependently reversed by PCP treatment,and the intervention effects on males were greater than those on *** factor kappa-b(NF-κb),mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPKs)and protein kinase b(Akt)are 3 pivotal signaling pathways mediating the development of ***,PCP was also found to significantly decrease the phosphorylation of p65,p38,extracellular-regulated kinase 1/2(ERK1/2)and Akt,and increase the protein expression of inh.b.tor of NF-κb(Iκb)in the aortas of male and female mice induced by *** together,these findings indicated that PCP could be effective for the prevention of atherosclerosis,and the intervention effect of PCP on male mice was more obvious than that of female mice.
