In underwater applications of contactless power transmission(CLPT) systems,high pressure and noncoaxial operations will change the parameters of electromagnetic(EM) *** a result,the system will divert from its optimum *** a reluctance modeling method,we investigated the gap effects on the EM coupler in deep-sea *** and measurements were performed to analyze the influence of high pressure and noncoaxial alignments on the *** was shown that it is useful to set a relatively large gap between cores to reduce the influence of *** were carried out to verify the transferring capacity of the designed coupler and system for a fixed *** results showed that an EM coupler with a large gap can serve a stable and efficient power transmission for the CLPT *** designed system can transfer more than 400 W electrical power with a 2-mm gap in the EM coupler,and the efficiency was up to 90% coaxially and 87% non-coaxially in 40 MPa salt ***,a mechanical layout of a 400 W EM coupler for the underwater application in 4000-m deep sea was proposed.

Relationship between alanine aminotransferase levels and metabolic syndrome in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease

Objective： To investigate the relationship between alanine aminotransferase （ALT） levels and metabolic syndrome （MS） in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease （NAFLD）. Methods： A total of 26527 subjects who received medical health checkup in our hospital from January 2005 to July 2007 were enrolled in the study. The diagnosis of fatty liver was based on ultrasound imaging. MS was defined according to the criteria of the Adult Treatment Panel III. ALT, triglyceride （TG）, high density lipoprotein cholesterol （HDL-c）, fasting plasma glucose （FPG）, height, weight, waist circumference （WC）, systolic blood pressure （SBP） and diastolic blood pressure （DBP） were measured in each subject to analyze the relationship between MS and ALT activity Results：（1） The prevalence of NAFLD in men （30.94%） was significantly higher than that in women （15.65%）; （2） The incidence of MS in NAFLD （33.83%） was significantly greater than that in non-NAFLD （10.62%）; （3） Of the 6470 subjects with NAFLD, in the age-adjusted partial correlation analysis, there were statistically significant correlations between the ALT levels and most metabolic risk factors in each sex （P〈0.01）, except that ALT levels multiple stepwise regression analysis, SBP lost its significance, and had no correlation with HDL-c in women. Moreover, in the WC, body mass index （BMI）, age, DBP, TG and FPG were independently associated with ALT levels in both sexes （P〈0.05）. HDL-c remained significant and was independently related to ALT levels in men; （4） ALT levels were significantly higher in subjects with MS compared to those without MS （P〈0.001）. Mean ALT levels increased with the number of MS components in each sex （P〈0.05 for trend）. Conclusion： We found a strong relationship between ALT levels and MS in NAFLD and revealed that the cluster of MS components might be the predictor for ALT elevations.

Objective: To compare the efficacy of a short messaging service (SMS) text messaging and phone reminder to im-prove attendance rates at a health promotion center. Methods: A total of 1 859 participants who had scheduled appointments in the health promotion center of our hospital from April 2007 to May 2007 were enrolled in the study and randomly assigned into 3 groups: control (no reminder) group,SMS text messaging reminder group and telephone reminder group. Attendance rates and costs of interventions were collected. Results: A total of 1848 participants were eligible for analysis. Attendance rates of control,SMS and telephone groups were 80.5%,87.5% and 88.3%,respectively. The attendance rates were significantly higher in SMS and telephone groups than that in the control group,with odds ratio 1.698,95% confidence interval 1.224 to 2.316,P=0.001 in the SMS group,and odds ratio 1.829,95% confidence interval 1.333 to 2.509,P<0.001 in the telephone group. However,there was no difference between the SMS group and the telephone group (P=0.670). The cost effectiveness analysis showed that the cost per attendance for the SMS group (0.31 Yuan) was significantly lower than that for the telephone group (0.48 Yuan). Conclusion: SMS and telephone are effective reminders for improving attendance rate at a health promotion center. SMS reminder may be more cost-effective compared with the telephone reminder.

A rapid and sensitive HPLC-DAD method is developed for simultaneous determination of nicorandil and its degradation products, N-（2-hydroxyethyl） nicotinamide, nitrate ion and nicotinic acid, using nicotinamide （NT） as internal standard, at wavelength 204 nm. Nicotinic acid is identified by HPLC and GC/MS. The method can also be applied to study kinetic of degradation processes of nicorandil in storage.

AIM： To investigate the association between metabolic syndrome （NetS） and the development of gallstone disease （GSD）. METHODS： A cross-sectional study was conducted in 7570 subjects （4978 men aged 45.0：1：8.8 years, and 2592 women aged 45.3：1：9.5 years） enrolled from the physical check-up center of the hospital. The subjects included 918 patients with gallstones （653 men and 265 women） and 6652 healthy controls （4325 men and 2327 women） without gallstones. Body mass index （BII）, waist circumference, blood pressure, fasting plasma glucose （FPG） and serum lipids and lipoproteins levels were measured. Colorimetric method was used to measure cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cho- lesterol （HDL-C） and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol （LDL-C）. Dextrose oxidizing enzyme method was used to measure FPG. Subjects were asked to complete a questionnaire that enquired about the information on demographic data, age, gender, histories of diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and chronic liver disease and so on. Metabolic syndrome was diagnosed according to the Adult Treatment Panel HI （ATP ]3） criteria. Gall- stones were defined by the presence of strong intralu- minal echoes that were gravity-dependent or attenu- ated ultrasound transmission. RESULTS： Among the 7570 subjects, the prevalence of the gallstone disease was 12.1% （13.1% in men and 10.2% in women）. BMI, waist circumference, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, fasting blood glucose and serum triglyceride （TG） in cases group were higher than in controls, while serum high-density lipid was lower than in controls. There were significant differences in the waist circumference, blood pressure, FPG and TG between cases and controls. In an age- adjusted logistic regression model, metabolic syndrome was associated with gallstone disease. The age-adjust- ed odds ratio of MetS for GSD in men was 1.29 [95% confidence interval （CI）, 1.09-1.52; P = 0.0030], and 1.68 （95% CI, 1.26-2.25; P = 0.0004） in women; the overa

This article studies the effects of air content on propeller cavitation and pressure fluctuations. The cavitation is observed while the pressure fluctuations on the hull are measured. When adjusting the air content, the sheet cavitation range does not change distinctly, but the pressure fluctuations see obvious differences. The amplitudes of the pressure fluctuations increase with the decrease of the air content. The results indicate that the air content has little effect on the sheet cavitation range but has an important effect on the bubble cavitation and the tip vortex cavitation. When the air content decreases, the water tensile force increases, which results in the instability of the bubble cavitation and the tip vortex cavitation and the increase of the pressure fluctuations. To minimize the scale effects, the experiments should be run at a high Reynolds number with a high nuclei content. The high Reynolds number is often realized by increasing the flow velocity and the propeller rotation speed, and the high nuclei content is often made by increasing the dissolved air content.

When a body navigates with cavity in shallow water, both flexible free surface and rigid bottom wall will produce great influences on the cavity shape and hydrodynamic performances, and further affect the motion attitude and stability of the body. In the present work, characteristics of the natural cavitating flow around a 2-D symmetrical wedge in shallow water were investigated and the influences of two type boundaries on the flow pattern were analyzed. The Volume Of Fluid （VOF） multiphase flow method which is suitable for free surface problems was utilized, coupled with a natural cavitation model to deal with the mass-transfer process between liquid and vapor phases. Within the range of the cavitation number for computation （0.07-1.81）, the cavity configurations would be divided into three types, viz., stable type, transition type and wake-vortex type. In this article, the shapes of the free surface and the cavity surface, and the hydrodynamic performance of the wedge were discussed under the conditions of relatively small cavitation number （〈0.256）. The present numerical cavity lengths generally accord with experimental data. When the cavitation number was decreased, the cavity was found to become longer and thicker, and the scope of the deformation of the free surface also gradually extends. The free surface and the upper cavity surface correspond fairly to their shapes. However, the lower side of the cavity surface was rather leveled due to the influence of wall boundary. The lift and drag coefficients of this 2-D wedge basically keep linear relations with the natural cavitation number smaller than 0.157, whereas direct proportion for drag and inverse proportion for lift.

Objective To explore the ability of interictal diffusion-weighted imaging(DWI)to localize the temporal lobe of seizure origin and to predict postoperative seizure control in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy(TLE).Methods Twenty-seven patients with intractable TLE considered for surgery and 19 healthy volunteers were studied with conventional magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)and *** diffusion coefficients(ADCs)of bilateral hippocampi in both TLE patients and control subjects were *** to either temporal lobe with hippocampal ADC was based on the threshold values derived from ±1SD of right/left ratios in normal *** the postoperative pathology was *** Hippocampal ADCs were higher on the side of surgery compared with those on the contralateral side as well as the ipsilateral side in control subjects [resected side(109.8±7.3)×10-5 cm2/s,contralateral side(91.7±4.7)×10-5 cm2/s,control subjects(81.6±5.2)×10-5 cm2/s,all Plized to the operated temporal lobe in 21 of 27(77.8%)and in 18 of 27(66.7%)*** to the surgical side was not associated with postoperative seizure control with right/left hippocampal ADC ratio(P>0.05).Conclusions Conventional MRI is a sensitive method to detect hippocampal *** of the right/left hippocampal ADC ratio for lateralizing to the side of surgery is very high,but it isn't a better predictor of surgical outcome.
