Global warming in tandem with surface albedo reduction caused by black carbon(BC)deposition on glaciers accelerated glacier melting;however,their respective contributions remain *** in the Qilian Mountains are crucial for the development of oases in the Hexi Corridor;however,their area has decreased by more than 20%over the past ***,this study developed a dynamic deposition model for light-absorbing particles(LAPs),coupled with a surface energy and mass balance *** comprehensively assessed the effects of BC and warming on the melting of a typical glacier in the Qilian Mountains based on the coupled *** on the glacier surface caused 13.1%of annual glacier-wide melting,of which directly deposited atmospheric BC reduced the surface albedo by 0.02 and accounted for 9.1%of glacier *** air temperature during 2000-2010 has increased by 1.5°C relative to that during the 1950s,accounting for 51.9%of current glacier ***,BC emission have increased by 4.6 times compared to those of the early Industrial Revolution recorded in an ice core,accounting conservatively for 6.3%of current glacier *** BC emissions has a limited influence on current glacier melting;however,in the long-term,mitigation should exert a noteworthy impact on glacier melting through the self-purification of glaciers.

Effect of tubastatin A on NLRP3 inflammasome activation in macrophages under hypoxia/ reoxygenation conditions

BACKGROUND:There are currently no effective drugs to mitigate the ischemia/reperfusion injury caused by fluid resuscitation after hemorrhagic shock(HS).The aim of this study was to explore the potential of the histone deacetylase 6(HDAC6)-specific inhibitor tubastatin A(TubA)to suppress nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor protein 3(NLRP3)inflammasome activation in macrophages under hypoxia/reoxygenation(H/R)***:The viability of RAW264.7 cells subjected to H/R after treatment with different concentrations of TubA was assessed using a cell-counting kit-8(CCK8)***,2.5μmol/L TubA was used with RAW264.7 cells under H/R ***264.7 cells were divided into three groups,namely the control,H/R,and TubA *** levels of reactive oxygen species(ROS)in the cells were detected using fluorescence *** protein expression of HDAC6,heat shock protein 90(Hsp90),inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS),NLRP3,gasdermin-D(GSDMD),Caspase-1,GSDMD-N,and Caspase-1 p20 was detected by western *** levels of interleukin-1β(IL-1β)and IL-18 in the supernatants were detected using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(EliSA).RESULTS:HDAC6,Hsp90,and iNOS expression levels were significantly higher(P<0.01)in the H/R group than in the control group,but lower in the TubA group than in the H/R group(P<0.05).When comparing the H/R group to the control group,ROS levels were significantly higher(P<0.01),but significantly reduced in the TubA group(P<0.05).The H/R group had higher NLRP3,GSDMD,Caspase-1,GSDMD-N,and Caspase-1 p20 expression levels than the control group(P<0.05),however,the TubA group had significantly lower expression levels than the H/R group(P<0.05).IL-1βand IL-18 levels in the supernatants were significantly higher in the H/R group compared to the control group(P<0.01),but significantly lower in the TubA group compared to the H/R group(P<0.01).CONCLUSION:TubA inhibited the expression of HDAC6,Hsp90,and iNOS in macrophages

Acupuncture with different frequencies for tobacco dependence: a randomized controlled trial

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of different acupuncture frequencies on the abstinence rate which could be used as a reference for optimizing acupuncture cessation ***: From July 2018 to June 2022， a total of 220 smokers were recruited based on inclusion criteria and randomly divided into the high-frequency acupuncture group (HF group， n = 110): 5 times a week from the 1st to the 4th week， from weeks 5 to 8， three times a week and the low-frequency acupuncture group (LF group， n = 110): 3 times a week from the 1st to the 4th week， from weeks 5 to 8， twice a week， then treated for 8 weeks and follow-up at 1 month in ***: In total， 162 subjects completed the whole study with a drop-out rate of 20.45%. The expiratory CO point abstinence rate was HF group 53/110 (48.18%) vs LF group 41/110 (37.27%) in Week 8 (P = 0.102) and HF group 46/110 (41.82%) vs LF group 45/110 (40.91%) in Week 12 (P = 0.891) and the HF acupuncture and LF acupuncture were nearly equal in the 8-week abstinence rate. In addition， both HF and LF acupuncture significantly reduced Fagerstr?m test for nicotine dependence scale (FTND) scores (P lieving patients' smoking cravings (P lidated through larger clinical studies to optimize acupuncture smoking cessation programs.

EV Charging Station Load Prediction in Coupled Urban Transportation and Distribution Networks

The increasingly large number of electric vehicles(EVs)has resulted in a growing concern for EV charging station load prediction for the purpose of comprehensively evaluating the influence of the charging load on distribution *** address this issue,an EV charging station load predictionmethod is proposed in coupled urban transportation and distribution ***,a finer dynamic urban transportation network model is formulated considering both nodal and path ***,a finer EV power consumption model is proposed by considering the influence of traffic congestion and ambient ***,the Monte Carlo method is applied to predict the distribution of EVcharging station load based on the proposed dynamic urban transportation network model and finer EV power consumption ***,a dynamic charging pricing scheme for EVs is devised based on the EV charging station load requirements and the maximum thresholds to ensure the security operation of distribution ***,the validity of the proposed dynamic urban transportation model was verified by accurately estimating five sets of test data on travel time by contrast with the BPR *** five groups of travel time prediction results showed that the average absolute percentage errors could be improved from 32.87%to 37.21%compared to the BPR ***,the effectiveness of the proposed EV charging station load prediction method was demonstrated by four case studies in which the prediction of EV charging load was improved from27.2 to 31.49MWh by considering the influence of ambient temperature and speed on power energy consumption.

The mechanisms of enhanced thickness-dependent DC breakdown strength of EP/MWCNTs nanocomposites

Owing to advanced power electronic and electrical applications developing towards miniaturisation and integration,the thickness-dependent DC breakdown mechanism of epoxy/multiwall-carbon-nanotube nanocomposites is under *** results indicate that the breakdown strength of nanocomposites containing 0.05 wt%multiwall-carbon-nanotubes rises by~18%,and the breakdown strength falls exponentially with increasing *** clarify the microscopic mechanism,a simulation model of DC breakdown,including carriers transport and segmental dynamics,is developed,and the accordant simulation results with experimental results indicate that the thickness-dependent DC breakdown of epoxy/multiwall-carbon-nanotube nanocomposites is determined both by segment chain dynamics and charge *** to the breakdown model analysis,the effects of multiwall-carbon-nanotube on enhanced breakdown strength are caused by the increased amount of deep traps in the interfacial region,while the influence of thickness is attributed to the enlarged segment chain displacement and electric field distortion as the voltage raising time increases.

Defects engineering is an effective strategy for manipulating electromagnetic parameters and enhancing electromagnetic wave(EMW)absorption ***,the relationship between them is not clear,especially in solid solution *** this work,a series of(Cr_(1-x)V_(x))_(2)AlC MAX phase solid solutions with layered structure were prepared via tuning the ratio of Cr and V to explore their EMW absorption *** experimental results indicated that the doping of V atoms at the M-site could effectively regulate its impedance matching and EMW absorption properties by introducing appropriate numbers of defects in the crystal,such as twin boundaries,dislocations and lattice *** them,if Cr:V=3:1,Cr_(1.5)V_(0.5)AlC,as radar absorption materials,could reach a strong reflection loss of-51.8 dB at the frequency of 12.8 GHz under an ultra-thin thickness of 1.3 *** reflection loss value could attain-10 dB in a wide frequency range of 2.7-18 GHz and thickness range of 1-5 *** addition,after high temperature and acid-alkali immersion treatment,this sample still had good EMW absorption capability,and the effective absorption bandwidth was enhanced from 2.3 to 2.6 GHz after concentrated acid immersion or 3.1 GHz after concentrated alkali *** work has great reference significance for the research and development of high-performance MAX-based EMW absorption materials in harsh environments.

Layered rare-earth hydroxides(LREHs) draw wide research interest because of their peculiar crystal structure,rich interlayer chemistry and abundant functionality of the RE element,but are limited to the two categories of RE_(2)(OH)_(5)A·nH_(2)O(A:typical of Cl^(-)or NO_(3)^(-)) and RE_(2)(OH)_(4)SO_(4)·nH_(2)*** the other hand,rare-earth oxysulfates(RE_(2)O_(2)SO_(4)) have attracted attention due to their properties of large-capacity oxygen storage,low-temperature magnetism and luminescence,but their preparation procedure mostly involves toxic SO_(x) gases and/or complicated *** this work,RE_(2)(OH)_(2)CO_(3)SO_(4)·nH_(2)O as a new family of LREHs(RE=Gd-Lu lanthanides and Y) were produced via hydrothermal reaction,from which phase-pure RE_(2)O_(2)SO_(4) was derived via subsequent annealing at 800℃ in air without the involvement of SO_(x),The compounds were thoroughly characterized to reveal the intrinsic influence of lanthanide contraction(RE^(3+) radius) on crystal structure,thermal behavior(dehydroxylation/decarbonation/desulfurization),vibrational property and crystallite *** analyzing the photoluminescence of Eu^(3+) and Sm^(3+)in the Gd_(2)O_(2)SO_(4) typical host it is found that the 617 nm(Eu^(3+),λ_(ex)=275 nm) and 608 nm(Sm^(3+),λ_(ex)=407 nm) main emissions can retain as high as ^(7)9.6% and 85.5%of their room-temperature intensities at 423 K,with activation energies of ~0.19 and 0.21 eV for thermal quenching,*** also indicates that both the phosphors have the potential for optical temperature sensing via the fluorescence intensity ratio(FIR) technology,whose maximum relative sensitivity reaches -2.70%/K for Eu^(3+)and 1.73%/K for Sm^(3+) at 298 K.

Current-carrying tribological behavior of C/Cu contact pairs in extreme temperature and humidity environments for railway catenary systems

Many current-carrying contact pairs, such as those found in pantograph-catenary systems, operate in open environments and are susceptible to significant external interference from temperature and humidity variations. This study investigated the evolution of the friction coefficient and contact resistance of C/Cu contact pairs under alternating temperature, humidity, and current conditions. Through experimentation, the wear rate and microtopography of the worn surface were analyzed under various constant parameters. Subsequently, the differences in tribological behavior and current-carrying characteristics of the contact pairs under these three parameters were explored. The results revealed that the decrease in temperature resulted in a significant increase in the friction coefficient of the contact pairs, carbon wear, and copper surface roughness. Additionally, the surface oxidation rate was lower at lower temperatures. Moreover, contact resistance did not consistently increase with decreasing temperature, owing to the combined action of the contact area and the oxide film. Compared with temperature, humidity fluctuations at room temperature exerted less influence on the friction coefficient and contact resistance of the contact pairs. Dry environments rendered carbon materials vulnerable to oxidation and cracking, while excessive humidity fostered abrasive wear and arcing. High-current conditions generally degraded the tribological properties of C/Cu contacts. In the absence of current, the friction coefficient was extremely high, and the copper transfer was high. Under excessive current, copper was susceptible to plowing by carbon micro-bumps and abrasive particles, resulting in a decrease in the friction coefficient. The release of lipids from the carbon surface due to temperature elevation weakened the electrical contact performance and increased the occurrence of arc erosion, thereby exacerbating carbon wear.

Discovery of the choristodere Hyphalosaurus baitaigouensis from the Lower Cretaceous jiufotang Formation of western liaoning,China and its paleobiogeographic significance

The water-living reptile genus Hyphalosaurus was previously discovered in the Lower Cretaceous Yixian Formation bearing the middle Jehol Biota in western liaoning,*** complete skeletons of Hyphalosaurus are reported for the first time from the jiufotang Formation bearing the late Jehol Biota at two sites in western *** show the typical characteristics of Hyphalosaurus baitaigouensis in terms of the contact between some cranial bones and the number of cervical and dorsal vertebrae,and therefore are assigned to *** discovery extends the stratigraphic range of this species from the Yixian Formation to the overlying jiufotang *** paper further briefly compares the main characteristics of the two skeletons,summarizes the temporal and spatial distribution of Hyphalosaurus,and discusses the palaeogeographic evolution of western liaoning at the middle and late Jehol Biota stages based on the aquatic habits of Hyphalosaurus and the geological background of western *** analytical results show that the volcanic downwarped lakes,with distinct geographical divisions in western liaoning during the deposition of the Yixian Formation,had not completely disappeared till the deposition of the jiufotang *** palaeo-lake in the Fuxin-Yixian Basin underwent the process of generation,expansion and shrinkage during the depositional period of the Yixian Formation and finally merged into a large *** palaeo-Dalinghe River,which connected the main basins in western liaoning during the depositional period of the jiufotang Formation,was formed simultaneously.

Reactive oxygen species promote endurance exercise-induced adaptations in skeletal muscles

The discovery that contracting skeletal muscle generates reactive oxygen species(ROS)was first reported over 40 years *** prevailing view in the 1980s was that exercise-induced ROS production promotes oxidation of proteins and lipids resulting in muscle ***,a paradigm shift occurred in the 1990s as growing research revealed that ROS are signaling molecules,capable of activating transcriptional activators/coactivators and promoting exercise-induced muscle *** evidence supports the notion that reduction-oxidation(redox)signaling pathways play an important role in the muscle remodeling that occurs in response to endurance exercise *** review examines the specific role that redox signaling plays in this endurance exercise-induced skeletal muscle *** begin with a discussion of the primary sites of ROS production in contracting muscle fibers followed by a summary of the antioxidant enzymes involved in the regulation of ROS levels in the *** then discuss which redox-sensitive signaling pathways promote endurance exercise-induced muscle adaptation and debate the strength of the evidence supporting the notion that redox signaling plays an essential role in muscle adaptation to endurance exercise *** hopes of stimulating future research,we highlight several important unanswered questions in this field.
