Esophageal adenocarcinoma is the most rapidly growing cancer in *** the prognosis after diagnosis is unfavorable,the chance of a successful outcome increases tremendously if detected early while the lesion is still ***,the present standard-of-care,endoscopic surveillance,has major limitations,since dysplasia is invisible,often focal,and systematic biopsies typically sample less than one percent of the esophageal lining and therefore easily miss *** solve this problem we developed a multispectral light scattering endoscopic imaging *** surveys the entire esophageal lining and accurately detects subcellular dysplastic *** system combines light scattering spectroscopy,which detects and identifies invisible dysplastic sites by analyzing light scattered from epithelial cells,with rapid scanning of the entire esophageal lining using a collimated broadband light beam delivered by an endoscopically compatible fiber optic *** we report the results of the first comprehensive multispectral imaging study,conducted as part of routine endoscopic procedures performed on patients with suspected *** a double-blind study that characterized the system’s ability to serve as a screening tool,55 out of 57 patients were diagnosed *** addition,a smaller double-blind comparison of the multispectral data in 24 patients with subsequent pathology at locations where 411 biopsies were collected yielded an accuracy of 90%in detecting individual locations of dysplasia,demonstrating the capability of this method to serve as a guide for biopsy.

the Poetry Hoax

this article is concerned with didactic hoaxes that are con structed to discredit their targets; the underlying question is whether a poetry hoax can do this. I compare the Sokal hoax with the Ern Malley hoax: in the first case (USA, 1996), an NYU physicist, Alan Sokal, wrote a bogus article claiming that the laws of physics should be seen as social constru cts; in the second case (Australia, 1943) two poets, James McAuley and Harold Stewart, concocted th e poems of an imaginary modernist, Ern Malley. In both cases the hoaxers realized their aim: Social text, the magazine that published Sokal’s article, and Angry Penquins, the magazine th at celebrated the poems of Ern Malley, looked foolish. However, while the physics that Sokal used was bogus, what McAuley and Stewart had intentionally tried to write as bad poetry now reads as lively, comic and inventive. the poetry of ″Ern Malley″ now generates more interest than th e genuine poetry of McAuley and Stewart. thus, while Malley is a hoax-poet, it doesn’t seem that th e hoaxers succeeded in writing hoax-poetry.

Impact damage testing based on high-speed continuous water jet aircraft coatings

When an aircraft passes through a rainy area at high speed,the coating on the front edge of the fuselage will be continuously eroded by raindrops,causing the coating to wear,crack or even peel *** paper uses carbon fiber t300 material as the base material,and at the different impact speeds and impact numbers,water cutting equipment was used to simulate the erosion of the coating caused by the continuous impact of water *** damage morphology of samples at different damage stages was observed by digital microscope and Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM),and the damage evolution curve was established to analyze and reveal the damage behavior and damage mechanism of rain *** results show that the degree of damage experienced an increasing trend with the increase of impact numbers and speed,until circular peel damage was formed;no damage occurred during the incubation period,and the curvature of the damage evolution curve increased significantly after the expansion period and eventually showed a stable expansion *** mechanical properties of the coating material were the main influencing factors of its rain corrosion ***,the axially symmetric unsteady contact problem of droplets impacting the surface of a solid deformable body was *** the contact area was determined based on the iterative algorithm boundary positioning method.A mathematical model and closed mathematical formula describing the unsteady interaction between a droplet and a solid deformable obstacle were proposed.

Critical Equatorial trajectories of Massless Particles in a Kerr Spacetime

In the presented work a closed analytical expression is obtained that describes the critical photon orbits in the equatorial plane of a spinning Kerr black hole (BH). A significant difference in the behavior of photons with prograde and retrograde directions of rotation is shown. the photons with prograde rotation exhibit an exponential increase in the deflection angle together with the number of rotations around the BH as its spin parameter increases. the number of rotations exceeds 103 when spin parameter of the BH reaches 0.999. At the same time this value decreases insignificantly for reverse rotating photons and is less than that for the non-spinning Schwarzschild BH. the transition to a zero spin limit made it possible to determine the number of photon rotations along the critical trajectory for such BHs.

the electroslag remelting(ESR)process is widely used to produce high-quality ingots and billets for high-alloyed steels and *** the single-phase and three-phase alternating current diagram with bifilar and monofilar connection are in use for heavy ingot *** numerical simulation of the three-phase bifilar circuit for the 120 t three-phase bifilar six-electrode ESR furnace at different variants of electric connection was presented and *** the bifilar diagram of power supply,the geometrical location of electrodes in a mould holds critical importance for performances:the close location of bifilar pair electrodes provides the highest heat productivity,but the equidistant location of electrodes gives a much more uniform heat *** monofilar mulit-electrode diagram of three-phase connection without phase shift shows the most uniform distribution of potential and heat generation as well as a favorable magnetic field that makes this kind the most promising for providing a high quality of heavy ingots.

Semantic Keys are elements (word-parts) of written language that give an iconic,general representation of the whole word’s meaning. In written Sino-Japanese the “radical”or semantic components play this role. For example, the character meaning 'woman,female’ is the Semantic Key of the character for Ma 'Mama’ (alongside the phonetic component Ma, which means 'horse’ as a separate character). the theory of semantic Keys in both graphic and phonemic aspects is called qtheory or *** most innovative aspect of the present article is the hypothesis that, in languages using alphabetic writing systems, the role of Semantic Key is played by consonants, more specifically the first consonant. thus, L meaning 'Lif t ’ is the Semantic Key of English L f,Ladle, Lofty, aLps，elevator，oLympus; Spanish leva, Lecantarse，aLto，Lengua; Arabic aLLah, and Hebrew? aeL-0aL ‘upto-above’ （the Israeli airline), Polish Lot ‘flight’ （the Polish airline); Hebrew aeL, aeLohim ‘God’， and haLLeluyah ‘praise-ye God’ （using Parallels, 'Lift up God’). Evidence for the universality of the theory is shown by many examples drawn from various languages, including Indo-European Semitic, Chinese and Japanese. the theory reveals hundreds of relationships within and between languages,related and unrelated, that have been “Hiding in Plain Sight”, to mention just one example:the Parallel between Spanish Pan 'bread’ and Mandarin Fan 'rice’.

目的探讨瞬时受体电位M8离子通道（tRPM8）在冷刺激诱导气道上皮细胞产生炎性因子过程中发挥的作用及相关信号转导机制。方法用冷空气（18℃）刺激人气道上皮16HBE细胞，以tRPM8通道特异性拮抗剂BCtC、tRPM8shRNA及蛋白激酶C（PKC）特异性抑制剂钙磷酸蛋白C为干预手段，将细胞分为对照组（37℃培养）、冷刺激组、冷刺激＋BCtC组、冷刺激＋转染tRPM8 shRNA组、冷刺激＋转染对照shRNA组、冷刺激＋钙磷酸蛋白C组。Western blot法检测tRPM8 shRNA转染对16HBE细胞合成tRPM8蛋白的干扰效率；钙离子成像技术测量前5组细胞内每10s间隔的相对Ca^2＋浓度动态变化；ELISA法检测各组细胞分泌的白细胞介素（IL）-6、IL-8、肿瘤坏死因子（tNF）-α蛋白含量；实时荧光定量PCR检测各组细胞中IL-6、IL．8、tNF-α mRNA表达水平。结果冷刺激组细胞内相对Ca^2＋浓度最高值为2．36±0．24，显著高于对照组的1．01±0．02（t=12．52，P〈0．01），冷刺激＋BCtC组、冷刺激＋转染tRPM8 shRNA组细胞内相对Ca^2＋浓度降为1．47±0．17和1．26±0．12，显著低于冷刺激组（t值分别为6．69、9．12，均P〈0．01）；冷刺激组的IL-6、IL-8、tNF-α的mRNA和蛋白含量分别为0．66±0．16、0．77±0．15、0．73±0．09、（92±13）ng／L、（125±22）ng／L、（88±12）ng／L，较对照组[0．37±0．08、0．32±0．07、0．48±0．10、（52±8）ng／L、（50±9）ng／L、（61±8）ng/L]显著升高（t值分别为3．20、5．36、3．36、5．24、6．26、3．74，均P〈0．05），冷刺激＋BCtC组[分别为0．42±0．09、0．52±0．13、0．52±0．12、（72±8）ng／L、（92±14）ng／L、（68±11）ng／L]、冷刺激＋转染tRPM8 shRNA组[分别为0．41±0．10、0．49±0．08、0．50±0．08、（60±12）ng／L、（89±14）ng／L、（68±11）ng/L]、冷刺激＋钙磷酸蛋白C组[分别为0．40±0．07、0．44±0．09、0．47±0．08、（69±9）ng／L、（86±15）ng／L、（61±10）ng／L]较冷刺激组显著降低（均P〈0．05）；冷刺激＋转染对照shRNA组[分别为0．61±0．10、0．69±0．11、0．64±0．13、（89±13）ng/L、（118±20）ng／L、（79±13）ng／L]与冷刺激组比较差异无统计学意义（t值分别为0．48、0．79、1．12、0．35、0．43、1．00，均P〉0．05）。结论冷空气可通过激活气道上皮细胞上的tRPM8离子通道而诱导Ca^2＋内流进而激活下游PKC信号通路，进而导致代表性炎性因子的表达及生成增多。

Development of sorghum mutants with improved in vitro protein digestibility by CRISPR/Cas9 editing of kafirin genes

Sorghum(Sorghum bicolor(L.) Moench) is a major world crop that is a reliable source of fodder and food grain in arid regions. However, unlike other cereals, sorghum grain has low nutritional value, owing mainly to the resistance of its storage proteins(kafirins) to protease digestion. Changing the composition of kafirins or their primary structure may address this problem. to induce mutations in kafirin-encoding genes that were expected to disturb their accumulation in endosperm cells, we used a genome-editing approach. By Agrobacterium-mediated genetic transformation of immature embryos of cv. Avans, we obtained 14 transgenic plants with genetic constructs for site-directed mutagenesis of the k1C5 and g KAF1 genes encoding 22 k Da a-and 28 kDa γ-kafirins, respectively. Sequencing of 5 regenerants obtained by using k1C5-addressing vector revealed two plants with mutations. t_1 progeny of these mutants had higher in vitro digestibility of endosperm proteins(86%–92%), in comparison with the donor Avans(63%–67%). the kernels of these plants had a thick vitreous endosperm. A mutant with increased in vitro protein digestibility and vitreous endosperm, carrying a mutation in the target sequence, was also obtained by use of the gKAF1-addressing vector. thus, using genome editing technology, we have obtained mutants with improved kafirin digestibility that can be used in sorghum breeding.

目的探讨内生多肽Elafin调节气道黏液高分泌的分子机制.方法构建人 Elafin 重组质粒,原代培养正常人支气管上皮细胞 HBE16,分为对照组、香烟抽提物（CSE）刺激组、CSE 刺激＋转染重组质粒、CSE 刺激＋空质粒组、单纯转染重组质粒以及空质粒组6组.四甲基偶氮唑盐法检测各组细胞活力,Western blot法检测p-JNK、p-ERK、p-P38和IκBα蛋白含量,荧光素酶报告基因系统测定激活蛋白-1（AP-1）及核转录因子-κB（NF-κB）活性,Rt-PCR检测各组黏蛋白（MUC）5AC mRNA 表达水平,ELISA 法分析各组细胞 MUC5AC 蛋白的相对含量.结果 CSE刺激组的p-JNK、p-ERK、p-c-Jun、IκBα、AP-1、NF-κB、MUC5AC和MUC5AC mRNA 含量分别为（0.55±0.03）μg/mg、（0.64±0.06）μg/mg、（0.60±0.07）μg/mg、（0.27±0.03）μg/mg、7.49±0.31、4.42±0.22、（0.71±0.04）mg/L和0.81±0.04,与对照组的（0.26±0.02）μg/mg、（0.30±0.05）μg/mg、（0.19±0.04）μg/mg（0.61±0.04）μg/mg、2.54±0.22、2.37±0.16、（0.23±0.02）mg/L和0.32±0.03比较差异有统计学意义（均P＜0.05）.转染重组Elafin后再给予CSE刺激,p-JNK、p-ERK、p-c-Jun、IκBα、AP-1、NF-κB、MUC5AC和MUC5AC mRNA含量分别为（0.38±0.04）μg/mg、（0.31±0.04）μg/mg、（0.14±0.03）μg/mg、（0.54±0.03）μg/mg、2.60±0.19、2.55±0.21、（0.28±0.03）mg/L、0.35±0.05,与CSE组相比差异有统计学意义（均P＜0.05）;p-P38蛋白含量在CSE刺激及转染Elafin前后无明显变化.结论内生多肽Elafin可降低JNK和ERK磷酸化水平并抑制IκBα蛋白降解,从而降低转录激活蛋白-1和核因子-κB的活性,下调黏蛋白5AC的高表达,而p38MAPK在其中的作用并不明显.

Bronchial inflammatory profile in interferon-gamma-mediated immune response in asthma patients during airway response to cold stimulus

Objective:to evaluate the inflammatory pattern and the interferon(IFN)-γin the bronchial secretion of asthma patients in response to acute cold *** and methods:We enrolled 42 patients with *** assessed asthma by Asthma Control test,the lung function by spirometry before and after the bronchodilator test,followed by collecting induced *** next day,we collected exhaled breath condensate(EBC)and conducted a 3-minute isocapnic hyperventilation with cold air(IHCA),followed by collecting spontaneously produced ***:Group 1 included 20 patients with cold airway hyperresponsiveness(CAHR),and group 2 included 22 patients without *** both groups,a high level of neutrophils in bronchial secretion was observed before and after *** response to IHCA,the number of epitheliocytes in the sputum decreased to a greater extent in patients of group *** baseline epitheliocytes and the concentration of IFN-γafter IHCA had an inverse relationship(r=-0.60;P=0.017).the baseline IFN-γin EBC before and after IHCA was lower in group *** response to cold exposure directly correlated with IFN-γlevels after IHCA(Rs=0.42;P=0.014).Conclusion:In asthma patients with CAHR,there is a relationship between the persistence of mixed inflammation and the level of IFN-γin the ***-γin response to IHCA is decreased with increased cytokine utilization during cold bronchospasm,which is accompanied by the mobilization of neutrophils and the shift in the cytokine spectrum of the respiratory tract towards the t helper cells(th)1 immune response.
