The formation of a heterogeneous oxidized layer,also called scale,on metallic surfaces is widely recognized as a rapid manufacturing event for metals and their *** or total removal of the scale represents a mandatory integrated step for the industrial fabrication processes of medical *** biodegradable metals,acid pickling has already been reported as a preliminary surface preparation given further processes,such as ***,biodegradable medical prototypes presented discrepancies concerning acid pickling studies based on samples with less complex geometry(e.g.,non-uniform scale removal and rougher surface).Indeed,this translational knowledge lacks a detailed investigation on this process,deep characterization of treated surfaces properties,as well as a comprehensive discussion of the involved *** this study,the effects of different acidic media(HCl,HNO_(3),H_(3)PO_(4),CH_(3)COOH,H_(2)SO_(4) and HF),maintained at different temperatures(21 and 60℃)for various exposition time(15-240 s),on the chemical composition and surface properties of a Fe-13Mn-1.2C biodegradable alloy were *** in mass loss,morphology and wettability evidenced the combined effect of temperature and time for all *** in HCl and HF solutions favor mass loss(0.03-0.1 g/cm^(2))and effectively remove the initial scale.

Gastric cancer usually is diagnosed in advanced stages and thus current medical practice affords limited therapeutic ***,recent studies established the role of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER2)in clinical ***,an antiHER2 monoclonal antibody,acquired a main role in advanced gastric cancer harboring HER2 overexpression and/or amplification improving survival to 17.1 mo according to trastuzumab for gastric cancer phaseⅢtrial ***,new promising drugs,such as c-Met inhibitors,are in development and assessment for this ***,novel drugs will emerge in the next feel years for help oncologists improve clinical management of advanced gastric cancer providing higher survival and quality of *** this mini-review we will discuss some issues in this regard and provide an actual overview of this setting.

Colorectal cancer(CRC)has high incidence and mortality *** 2012,CRC was the second most prevalent cancer among males(9%)and the third among females(8%).In recent decades,standard chemotherapies protocols combining 5-fluorouracil,leucovorin,irinotecan and oxaliplatin were important for improve survival in this set of ***,biological drugs throughout epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)pathways showed interesting results in metastatic disease(mCRC)control when in association to standard chemotherapy *** and panitumumab are two cornerstones for mCRC treatment and are both approved in Europe and United States based on previous results phaseⅢ*** paper will briefly summarize those anti-EGFR therapies framework in mCRC and discusses some issues in this regard.

Bridges are important elements in road system and can influence the entire economy of cities and region. Usually, these structures have high financial investments for their constructions, in this way, maintenance and conservation become so important. Inspection is a technical activity that covers several operations, including performance analysis; examination; final performance report, other operations may be necessary, such as maintenance work, recovery, strengthening and rehabilitation. Technical examination together with some test methods allows a critical and parametric judgment of the bridge performance by minimizing the subjectivity of visual evaluations, and permits a more detailed diagnosis. This paper discusses the methodology to perform tests to complement the assessment recommended by DNIT （Brazilian National department of Transport Infrastructure）, which consists only on a visual judgment. This approach provides technical basis to classify the bridges as its need and urgency of maintenance.

This study investigated the protective effects of secondary bacterial metabolites, produced by Pseudomonas sp. (bacterium strain LN), on citrus canker disease caused by Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. citri (Xac 306). The LN bacteria strain was cultured in liquid medium and the supernatant free-cells was treated with methanol (AMF) and ethyl acetate (AEF), respectively, and then the extract was concentrated, filtrated, lyophilized and fractionated by vacuum liquid chromatography (VLC). After VLC, eight fractions were obtained. All fractions’ activity against Xac 306 by agar well diffusion assay and minimum inhibitory concentration but in different concentrationswere tested. Cytotoxicity effects were observed in all fractions in 50 μg·mL-1 concentration. The comet assay demonstrated that the fractions EAF, VLC2 and VLC3 presented no genotoxic effects at tested concentrations. In plants only VLC3 showed significant results (pdence of citrus canker lesions.

Electromagnetic Stimulation Combined with Aloe vera Increases Collagen Reorganization in Burn Repair

Objectives： Burns are shown as a clinical problem for their severity and multiple complications due to the time required to heal. Therapies that improve their healing are of great importance, especially for being minimally invasive, of low cost and best performance, all related to the speed and quality of healing. This study investigated the effects of the magnetic electro stimulator Haihuá CD9 isolated or in association with Aloe vera in rats skin burns. Methods： Experimental groups （n = 30/group） were：（C） Carbopol gel; （F） A. vera/Carbopol gel; （H） Haihuá＋Carbopol gel; （H＋F） Haihuá＋A. vera/Carbopol gel. Samples were collected on the 7th, 14th, and 21st experimental days for structural and morphometric analysis, hydroxyproline and glycosaminoglycans quantification, zymography for MMP-2 and MMP-9 and Western Blotting for TGF-β1, VEGF, Collagen I and III. Key findings： The expression of TGF-β1 in H＋F was increased on the 7th day and of MMP-9 on the 7th and 14th days. The expression of VEGF increased in the first experimental periods and decreased in the last for the treated groups. There was an increase in the fibroblasts and birefringent collagen fibers in groups treated with Haihuá isolated or in association with A. vera in all periods. The quantification of collagen I increased, while collagen III decreased in H＋F. The higher amount of GAGs and MMP-2 active isoform was detected in H and H＋F during all periods. Conclusions： Considering the results of the present study, electromagnetic stimulation in association with the A. vera extract promoted an increase in the number of fibroblasts, GAGs content, MMP-2 activity, the deposition and organization of collagen fibers, favoring the repair of injuries to second degree burns, and may also present therapeutic potential in this injury type.

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.
