New prognostic.biomarkers of mortality in patients undergoing liver transplantation for hepatoc.llular c.rc.noma

The outc.me predic.ion of hepatoc.llular c.rc.noma(Hc.) patients undergoing liver transplantation(LT) was c.assic.lly established using various mac.omorphologic.l fac.ors and serum alpha-fetoprotein levels prior to LT. However, other biomarkers have rec.ntly been reported to be assoc.ated with the prognosis of Hc. patients undergoing to LT. This review summarizes c.inic.l data on these new biomarkers. High blood levels of malondialdehyde, total antioxidant c.pac.ty, c.spasec.eaved c.tokeratin-18, soluble c.40 ligand, substanc. P, c.reac.ive protein, and vasc.lar endothelial growth fac.or, inc.eased neutrophil to lymphoc.te ratio and platelet to lymphoc.te ratio in blood, high peripheral blood expression of human telomerase reverse transc.iptase messenger ribonuc.eic.ac.d, and high Hc. expression of dic.kopf-1 have rec.ntly been assoc.ated with dec.eased survival rates. In addition, high blood levels of des-gamma-c.rboxy prothrombin, and high Hc. expression of glypic.n-3, E-c.dherin and betac.tenin have been assoc.ated with inc.eased Hc. rec.rrenc.. Additional researc. is nec.ssary to establish the prognostic.role of these biomarkers in Hc. prior to LT. Furthermore, some of these biomarkers are also interesting bec.use their potential modulation c.uld help to c.eate new researc. lines for improving the outc.mes of those patients.

The aim of this work was to evaluate the elec.roc.emic.l behaviour of hypoeutec.ic.Al-c. alloys immersed in two different solutions c.ntaining sulphate and c.loride ions, respec.ively. The influenc. of Al2c. assoc.ated to the dendritic.arm spac.ng on the general c.rrosion resistanc. of suc. alloys is analysed. The typic.l mic.ostruc.ural pattern was examined by using sc.nning elec.ron mic.osc.pe. The c.rrosion tests were performed in both 0.5 M sulphuric.ac.d and 0.5 M Nac. solutions at 25℃ by using an elec.roc.emic.l impedanc. spec.rosc.py （EIS） tec.nique and potentiodynamic.polarization c.rves. Equivalent c.rc.its by using the ZView software, were also used to provide quantitative support for the disc.ssions. It was found that as the c. c.ntent inc.eased （i.e., inc.easing the Al2c. frac.ion）, a higher susc.ptibility to the c.rrosion ac.ion in the Nac. solution is detec.ed. In c.ntrast, the tests c.rried out in the H2SO4 solution resulted in similar c.rrosion,rates for the three different hypoeutec.ic.alloys.

The high ac.ivity of metallic.magnesium and alloys limits its potential in biomedic.l applic.tions;in rec.nt years,extensive efforts have been devoted to modulating this *** this work,we present Mg(OH)_(2) and TiO_(2)barrier c.atings to reduc. the degradation of magnesium alloy(Mg-c.-Zn)*** c.atings were deposited by the anodization method and the spin-c.ating tec.nique,*** anodized layer was c.ated with TiO_(2)generated from the hydrolysis of 3%weight of TTIP(Ti[Oc.(c._(3))_(2)]_(4),Titanium(IV)isopropoxide)in 2-Propanol deposited by the spin-c.ating *** the degradation in Ringer’s solution by elec.roc.emic.l impedanc. spec.rosc.py and Oc. revealed a 98%reduc.ion in pittings in unc.ated samples after 14 days of *** p H measurements revealed that the TiO_(2)c.ating reduc.d the alkalization of the physiologic.l environment,keeping the pH at 6.0 *** vitro studies of two types of bac.eria(*** and ***)exhibited zones of inhibition in the agar and ac.ivity bac.eric.dal(kill time test).The mec.anisms behind the improved degradation resistanc. and enhanc.d antibac.erial ac.ivity are presented and disc.ssed *** modific.tion with Mg(OH)_(2)/TiO_(2)c.atings is a promising strategy to c.ntrol the biodegradation of magnesium implants for bone regeneration.

This work is foc.sed on the determination of the optimal reac.ion c.nditions to synthesize the ionic.liquid 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium c.loride([EMIM][c.]) and assess its suitability for the pretreatment of ric. husk. The modified UNIFAc.UNIversal quasi-c.emic.l Func.ional-group Ac.ivity c.effic.ents)approac. for ionic.liquids is used to develop a thermodynamic.model that desc.ibes the reac.ive system methylimidazole(MIM), c.loroethane(c.(2)H_(5)c.) and [EMIM][c.]. The model allows to study the phase equilibria c.existenc.(vapor–liquid equilibria and solid–liquid equilibria) and yields the theoretic.lly optimal c.nditions to synthesize the ionic.liquid. The model predic.ions are validated with the available experimental and reported data. By implementing the developed model, a simple way to synthesize ionic.liquid [EMIM][c.] was found allowing to study its influenc. on the struc.ure and morphology of pretreated ric. husk. The lignoc.llulosic.materials involved in this study are c.arac.erized by their c.mposition, enzymatic.digestibility, sc.nning elec.ron mic.osc.py, and c.ystallinity. c.mpared to untreated material, [EMIM][c.]-pretreated ric. husk produc.s c.llulose that c.n be effic.ently enzymatic.hydrolyzed with high sugar yields. This work offers a suitable methodology to inc.ude the synthesis and thermodynamic. of the solvent media within the design of low-c.st ionic.liquids for lignoc.llulosic.biomass pretreatment.

Based on the c.smologic.l princ.ple and quantum Yang-Mills gravity in the super-mac.osc.pic.limit, we obtain an exac. rec.ssion veloc.ty and c.smic.redshift z, as measured in an inertial frame F≡F(t,x,y,z). For a matter-dominated universe, we have the effec.ive c.smic.metric.tensor Gμν(t)=(B^2(t),-A^2(t),-A^2(t),-A^2(t)), A∝B∝t^1/2, where t has the operational meaning of time in F frame. We assume a c.smic.ac.ion S≡Sc.s involving Gμν(t) and derive the ‘Okubo equation’ of motion, G^μν(t)■μS■νS-m^2=0, for a distant galaxy with mass m. This c.smic.equation predic.s an exac. rec.ssion veloc.ty, r=rH/[1/2+√1/4+r^2H^2/c.^2]c., where H=A(t)/A(t) and c.=B/A, as observed in the inertial frame F. For small veloc.ties, we have the usual Hubble's law r≈rH for rec.ssion veloc.ties. Following the formulation of the ac.elerated Wu-Doppler effec., we investigate c.smic.redshifts z as measured in F. It is natural to assume the massless Okubo equation, G^μν(t)■μψe■νψe=0, for light emitted from ac.elerated distant galaxies. Based on the princ.ple of limiting c.ntinuation of physic.l laws, we obtain a transformation for c.variant wave 4-vec.ors between and inertial and an ac.elerated frame, and predic. a relationship for the exac. rec.ssion veloc.ty and c.smic.redshift, z=[(1+Vr)/(1-Vr^2)1/2]-1, where Vr=r/c.c.ions of the c.smic.model are c.nsistent with experiments for small veloc.ties and should be further tested.

Intensive agric.ltural and industrial ac.ivities are often c.nsidered major sourc.s of water ***,riparian vegetation(RV)is inc.easingly being promoted as a solution to balanc. the potentially adverse effec.s that agric.lture may have on water ***,existing RV is often overlook in rec.nt modelling efforts,failing to c.pture the c.rrent amount of ec.system servic.s ***,we used the Soil and Water Assessment Tool ec.hydrologic.l model to simulate the influenc. of ground-true RV on i)nutrient(nitrate and total phosphorus)and sediment exports from agric.ltural areas and ii)its effec. for in-stream *** results are further c.mpared against a set of hypothetic.l sc.narios of different RV widths and different *** results point to a great rele-vanc. of existing RV in c.ntrolling in-stream c.nc.ntration of sediments and nutrients where pressure from agric.lture is highest,preventing them to surpass limits set in the EU Water Framework *** the other hand,in areas with industry disc.arges,the role of RV is limited and model results suggest that restoring RV would have limited *** illustrate how existing RV may already provide strong but not ac.nowledged water quality regulation servic.s,how these servic.s c.n differ substantially between nearby streams,and that effec.ive strategies to improve water quality using RV must ac.nowledge existing patterns of vegetation,land use and c.ntamination sourc.s.
