AIm:To investigate whether butyrate or glutamine enemas could diminish inflam.a.ion in experimental diversion ***:Wistar specific pathogen-free rats were submitted to a Hartmann's end colostomy and treated with enemas containing glutamine,butyrate,or *** were administered twice a week in the excluded segment of the colon from 4 to 12 wk after the surgical ***-up colonoscopy was performed every 4 wk for 12 *** effect of treatment was evaluated using video-endoscopic and histologic scores and m.a.uring interleukin-1β,tumor necrosis factor-alpha,and transforming growth factor beta production in organ cultures by enzyme linked immunosorbent ***:Colonoscopies of the diverted segment showed mucosa with hyperem.a.increased number of vessels,bleeding and mucus *** with either glutamine or butyrate induced significant reductions in both colonoscopic(P mber of goblet cells(P = 0.021;P = 0.029),and the rate of apoptosis within the epithelium(P = 0.043;P = 0.011) to normal *** high levels of cytokines in colon explants from rats with diversion colitis significantly decreased to normal values after treatment with butyrate or ***:The improvement of experimental diversion colitis following glutamine or butyrate enemas highlights the importance of specific luminal nutrients in the homeostasis of the colonic mucosa and supports their utilization for the treatment of human diversion colitis.

The liver has a vital role in many metabolic and regulatory processes in the *** biliary cholangitis(PBC),previously known as primary biliary cirrhosis,is a chronic cholestatic autoimmune disease of the intrahepatic bile ducts associated with loss of tolerance to mitochondrial *** this time there is no definitive cure for PBC;however,ursodeoxycholic acid(UDCA)has been shown to reduce injury when administered as the first line of *** therapeutics can be given concurrently or as an alternative to UDCA to manage the symptoms and further curb disease ***,a liver transplant is the only potentially curative option when the patient has developed end-stage liver disease or intractable *** review aims to delineate the pathogenesis of primary biliary cholangitis and shed light on current therapeutic strategies in the treatment of PBC.

A new configuration of a resonant full-bridge flying capacitor multicell inverter has been designed and constructed with the aim of achieving an extended output voltage frequency range with low harmonic distortion and reduced semiconductor commutation losses. This configuration was tested as a power supply for two different coaxial dielectric barrier discharge reactors, one of them employed for electric characterization and the other one for inorganic compound elimination in an aqueous solution. Two different gas mixtures, 90% Ar-10% 02 and 80% Ar-20% 02, were individually supplied during the experiments; the results showed a high- efficiency removal of meta-cresol （m-cresol） to the order of 98%, which was obtained by adding more oxygen to the plasma gas mixture.

In this paper an evaluation of the influence of luminance L* at the L*a*b* color space during color segmentation is presented. A com.a.ative study is made between the behavior of segmentation in color images using only the Euclidean metric of a* and b* and an adaptive color similarity function defined as a product of Gaussian functions in a modified HSI color space. For the evaluation synthetic images were particularly designed to accurately assess the performance of the color segmentation. The testing system can be used either to explore the behavior of a similarity function (or metric) in different color spaces or to explore different metrics (or similarity functions) in the same color space. From the results is obtained that the color parameters a* and b* are not independent of the luminance parameter L* as one might initially assume.

AIm: To establish the role of enteric glial cells during infection with mycobacterium.a.ium subspecies paratuberculosis (mAP) in Crohn's disease. mETHODS: In order to establish the role of enteric glial cells during infection with m. avium subspecies paratuberculosis (mAP) in Crohn's disease, map adhesion experiments on enteric glial cells were performed as well as expression analysis of map sigma factors during infection. RESULTS: In this study, for the first time, we found a high affinity of mAP to enteric glial cells and we analyzed the expression of mAP sigma factors under different conditions of growth. CONCLUSION: The fact that map showed a high affinity to the glial cells raises concerns about the complicated etiology of the Crohn's disease. Elucidation of the mechanisms whereby inflam.a.ion alters enteric neural control of gut functions may lead to novel treatments for Crohn's disease.

In this work we introduced a new proposal to study the gravitational lensing theory by spherical lenses, starting from its surface mass density ∑(x) written in terms of a decreasing function f of a dimensionless coordinate x on the lens plane. The main result is the use of the function f(x) to find directly the lens properties, at the same time that the lens problem is described by a first order differential equation which encodes all information about the lens. SIS and NIS profiles are used as examples to find their functions f(x). Using the Poisson equation we find that the deflection angle is directly proportional to f(x), and therefore the lens equation can be written in terms of the function and the parameters of the lens. The critical and caustic curves, as well as image formation and magnification generated by the lens are analyzed. As an example of this method, the properties of a lens modeled by a NFW profile are determined. Although the puntual mass is spherically symmetric, its mass density is not continuous so that its f(x) function is discussed in Appendix 1.

Protein phosphorylation is a well-established post-translational mechanism that regulates protein functions and metabolic *** is known that several plant mitochondrial proteins are phosphorylated in a reversible ***,the identities of the protein kinases/phosphatases involved in this mech-anism.a.d their roles in the regulation of the tricarboxylic acid(TCA)cycle remain *** this study,we isolated and characterized plants lacking two mitochondrially targeted phosphatases(Sal2 and PP2c63)along with pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase(PDK),Protein-protein interaction analysis,quantitative phos-phoproteomics,and enzymatic analyses revealed that PDK specifically regulates pyruvate dehydrogenase complex(PDC),while PP2c63 nonspecifically regulates *** recombinant PP2c63 and Sal2 proteins were added to mitochondria isolated from mutant plants,protein-protein interaction and enzymatic analyses showed that PP2c63 directly phosphorylates and modulates the activity of PDC,while Sal2 only indirectly affects TCA cycle *** of steady-state metabolite levels and fluxes in the mutant lines further revealed that these phosphatases regulate flux through the TCA cycle,and that altered metabolism in the sa/2 pp2c63 double mutant compromises plant *** results are discussed in the context of current models of the control of respiration in plants.

BACKGROUND Identifying a potential single monogenetic disorder in healthy couples is costly due to the Assisted Reproduction facilities'current methodology for screening,which focuses on the detecting multiple genetic disorders at ***,we report the successful application of a low-cost and fast preimplantation genetic testing for monogenic/single gene defects(PGT-m.a.proach for detecting propionic acidem.a.PA)in embryos obtained from.a.confirmed heterozygous propionyl-CoA carboxylase alpha subunit(PCCA)*** SUm.a.Y A fertile 32-years old mexican couple with denied consanguinity sought antenatal genetic *** were suspected obligate PA carriers due to a previous deceased PA male newborn with an unknown PCCA/propionyl-CoA carboxylase beta subunit(PCCB)***-Generation Sequencing revealed a heterozygous genotype for a pathogenic PCCA variant(c.2041-1G>T,ClinVar:RCV-000802701.1;dbSNP:rs1367867218)in both *** couple requested in vitro fertilization(IVF)and PGT-m for *** IVF,12 oocytes were collected and fertilized,of which two resulted in high-quality *** biopsies and Whole Genome Amplification by a fragmentation/amplification-based method were performed and revealed that the two embryos were *** polymerase chain reaction and further Sanger sequencing of the exon-intron borders revealed a wild-type PCCA male embryo and a heterozygous c.2041-1G>T female *** embryos were transferred,resulting in a clinical pregnancy and the delivery of a healthy male newborn(38 wk,weight:4080 g,length:49 cm.a.GAR 9/9).The absence of PA was confirmed by expanded newborn *** We show that using PGT-m with Whole Genome Amplification templates,coupled with IVF,can reduce the transmission of a pathogenic variant of the PCCA gene.

To highlight the importance of small earthquakes in seismic hazard, a study of the 11 may 2016, mw 4.9, Tesistan, mexico earthquake is presented. Due to the close proximity of the event to the city, accelerations were considerably higher than those caused by historical severe earthquakes (6.0 mw mate the focal mechanism solution in order to place the event in the context of the tectonic environment of this area. The second is focused on a vulnerability evaluation of buildings that suff ered resonance. Several building′s typologies with variations in construction system.a.d height are assessed in terms of resonance with the structural and soil periods. The results show that around the Zapopan station, strong damage is expected in intermediate to high-rise buildings (12-30 m) with moment resistant frame systems and in reinforced concrete shear walls. masonry structures around this station may not present resonance. In contrast, in the surroundings of the Guadalajara station, all intermediate height buildings from 9 to 21 m may present resonance.
