An energy approach is proposed to describe electromigration induced void nucleation based on phase transformation *** chemical potential for an individual migrated atom is predicted by diffusion induced back stress equivalent *** determining the chemical potential for the dilfusing atoms,the Gibbs free energy controlling the void nucleation can be determined and the mass diffusion process is *** critical void radius and nucleation time are determined analytically when the Gibbs free energy approaches the extreme *** theoretical predictions are compared with the experimental results from literatures and show good *** proposed model can also be applied to other diffusion induced damage processes such as thermomigration and stress migration.

As the installation of solar roofs increases,so has the concern over *** from a solar roof fire could spread into a building through roof openings and presents a challenge for existing fire protection *** date,there have been insufficient studies on solar roof fire-induced smoke *** this study,we conducted computational fluid dynamics(CDF)simulations using Fire Dynamics Simulator(FDS)to better understand the mechanisms of solar roof fire-induced smoke spread and help with solar roof ***,the photovoltaic(PV)combustion model was created in FDS and validated by experimental data.A parametric study was then simulated to investigate the impacts of roof slopes and vent sizes on the smoke spread of the solar *** was found that the roof slope has a significant effect on the fire smoke *** the roof slope increases,the region of separation,where the smoke and air are mixed,can extend from the leeward side of the building to the roof *** a result,smoke could fill the attic and room more slowly,leading to a lower soot density and lower indoor *** design a solar roof,both fire smoke protection and PV energy performance should be considered,especially for the low latitude regions where the PV optimal title angle regarding energy performance is small and leads to a higher risk of smoke infiltration.

Delegated blockchain governance is the frontier of blockchain design issues that is to improve the scalability of blockchain *** proof of stake(DPoS)blockchains such as EOS must select a few super nodes for transaction *** particular,the blockchain community has debated recently on whether dividend should be allowed when electing super nodes,which might be considered as unethical or unfair,leading to an open research topic and a new research gap that has theoretical value for both academia and *** this paper,we build a theoretical framework to study how dividend affects user decisions and welfare in a DPoS *** on game theory,we propose a three-player Hotelling model with two policies to study the behaviors of voters and *** first use a static game analysis to show that the benefits of dividend for voters and for candidates vary with the size of reward and there exists an interval,in which the zero dividend policy would be good for the welfare of both candidates and ***,we use an evolutionary game analysis to examine the process dynamics of super node selection,we find that the campaign strategy of candidates has to do with the size of platform reward given to the candidates by the blockchain *** in the asymmetric case,we find that higher level of platform reward turns to benefit candidates with large number of votes even *** findings are instrumental for designing dividend policies in DPoS blockchains and can stimulate more potential research in blockchain governance.

GeoPyTool is an open source application developed for geological calculations and plots,such as geochemical classification,parameter calculation,basic statistical analysis and diagrams for structural *** than acting as a link from raw data stored in Microsoft Excel■(MS Excel)files to vector graphic files,GeoPyTool includes recently developed routines that have not been included in previous software,such as the calculation of the Ce(Ⅳ)/Ce(Ⅲ)ratio for zircons as a method to examine the temporal evolution of oxygen fugacity in the magmatic source for igneous rocks,and the temperature calculator with titanium in zircon and zirconium in *** these routines,GeoPyTool also allows users to load any figure from articles or books as a base *** a Python-based crossplatform program,GeoPyTool works on Windows?,MacOS X?and GNU/*** can do the whole process from data to results without the dependence of Microsoft Excel?,CorelDraw?and other similar *** takes Excel?XLSX and CSV(Comma Separated Value)as the formats of both the input data source files and the output calculation results *** figures generated by GeoPyTool can be saved as portable network graphics(PNG),scalable vector graphics(SVG)or portable document format(PDF).Another highlight of GeoPyTool is the multilingual support,the official versio n of GeoPyTool supports both Chinese and English,and additional languages can be loaded through interface *** is still in the development stage and will be expanded with further geochemical and structural geology *** an open source project,all source code of GeoPyTool are accessible on Github(https://***/GeoPyTool/GeoPyTool).Users with Python experience can join in the development team and build more complex functions expanding the capabilities of GeoPyTool.

Road tunnels consume a large amount of energy,especially in the Canadian cold climate,where the roads are heated electrically or deicing during the *** a more sustainable and resilient road tunnel energy system,we conducted an exploratory study on installing a semi-transparent photovoltaic(STPV)canopy at the entrances and exits of a tunnel under a *** proposed system generates solar-powered electricity,improves thermal and visual conditions,and reduces energy *** this study,field measurements of road surface temperature and air temperature were conducted,and numerical simulations with and without STPV were performed to study air and road surface temperatures under different traffic *** field measurements show the road surface temperatures are higher than the air temperature on *** interior air and road surface temperature were measured to be above 0°C,even though the outdoor temperature is far below 0°C,thus significantly reducing the need for deicing in winter using *** simulations show that the air and surface temperatures elevate due to the solar transmission heat through the STPV canopy,thus reducing deicing energy consumption *** fire safety analysis also showed that the proposed system's top opening should be located near the tunnel entrance instead of the canopy entrance for better smoke exhaust during a fire.

On acid soils,the trivalent aluminium ion(Al3+)predominates and is very rhizotoxic to most plant *** some native plant species adapted to acid soils including tea(Camellia sinensis),Al3+has been regarded as a beneficial mineral *** this study,we discovered that Al3+is actually essential for tea root growth and development in all the tested *** ion promoted new root growth in five representative tea varieties with dose-dependent responses to Al3+*** the absence of Al3+,the tea plants failed to generate new roots,and the root tips were damaged within 1 d of Al ***-tural analysis of root tips demonstrated that Al was required for root meristem development and *** situ morin@staining of Al3+in roots revealed that Al mainly localized to nuclei in root meristem cells,but then gradually moved to the cytosol when Al3+was subsequently *** movement of Al3+from nuclei to cytosols was accompanied by exacerbated DNA damage,which suggests that the nuclear-targeted Al primarily acts to maintain DNA *** together,these results provide novel evidence that Al3+is essential for root growth in tea plants through maintenance of DNA integrity in meristematic cells.

A study was conducted in four compartments of a polycarbonate greenhouse at Gainesville,FL, USA to investigate how a soybean(Glycine max L. Merr.) cultivar, Maverick(maturity group III, indeterminate), responded to three elevated temperatures, ELT,(day/night of 34/26 °C, 38/30 °C, and 42/34 °C) in comparison to a control growth temperature(30/22 °C).Carbon dioxide(CO_2) concentration was maintained at 700 μmol mol^(-1) in each compartment by a processor controlled air-sampling and CO_2-injection system. Three sequential experiments were conducted at different times of year(summer, autumn, and early spring)to investigate the effect of intensity, timing, and duration of ELT on soybean node number,internode elongation, mainstem length, and number of pods set per plant. At the control temperature, the soybean plants grown in the polycarbonate greenhouse were taller than field-grown plants. When plants were grown under continuous ELT applied soon after sowing or at initial flowering, the number of nodes increased with increasing ELT intensity,whereas the length of individual internodes decreased. When ELT treatment was applied during the beginning of flowering stage(R1–R2) or earlier, more nodes were produced and the length of affected internodes was decreased. When the ELT was imposed later at reproductive stage R5+ just before the beginning of seed filling, effects on node numbers and internode lengths were negligible. Short-term(10-day) duration of ELT applied at four stages from V3 to R5+ did not significantly affect final mean numbers of nodes or mean mainstem lengths. Possible mechanisms of elevated temperature effects on soybean internode elongation and node number(internode number) are discussed. Total pod numbers per plant increased linearly with mainstem node numbers and mainstem ***, total pod numbers per plant were greatest at 34/26 °C rather than at the control temperature of 30/22 °C(and remained high at 38/30 °C).
