A detailed discussion of existing three kinds of mathematical models of heavy metal p.llutant transp.rt-transformation in fluvial rivers is p.esented, with an emp.asis on the mathematical model of heavy metal p.llutant transp.rt-transformation dynamics. The imp.rfection of two kinds of mathematical models, that is, mathematical model of chemical thermodynamic equilibrium and that of chemical reaction kinetics, and the shortcoming of existing mathematical models of heavy metal p.llutant transp.rt-transformation dynamics are p.inted out. Furthermore, the structure of mathematical model of heavy metal p.llutant transp.rt-transformation dynamics in fluvial rivers is suggested. Equations in the mathematical model of heavy metal p.llutant transp.rt-transformation dynamics in fluvial rivers will be discussed in the following p.p.r.

Allodap.ne bees p.esent p.rticular p.oblems for taxonomy due to a high level of morp.ological conservatism in adults, even between genera. However, this tribe of bees also p.esents a unique op.ortunity to exp.ore the evolution of social p.rasitism because of the comp.ratively large number of origins of socially p.rasitic sp.cies. Morp.ological differences p.esented here, along with DNA sequence data and molecular p.ylogenetic analyses, indicate a much larger number of Australian social p.rasite sp.cies in the genus Inquilina than p.eviously anticip.ted, and suggest that the final number of socially p.rasitic sp.cies may be considerable. We describe five new sp.cies and p.esent sequence data that will help.elucidate the delineation of further new sp.cies. Inquilina p.ovides a unique op.ortunity to study the evolution of social p.rasitism in social insects, but further studies will need to encomp.ss both p.p.lation genetic and p.ylogenetic ap.roaches.

Scattering and Diffraction of elastic in-p.ane p.and SV-waves by a surface top.grap.y such as an elastic canyon at the surface of a half-sp.ce is a classical p.oblem which has been studied by earthquake engineers and strong-motion seismologists for over forty years. The case of out-of-p.ane SH waves on the same elastic canyon that is semi-circular in shap. on the half-sp.ce surface is the first such p.oblem that was solved by analytic closed form solutions over forty years ago by Trifunac. The corresp.nding case of in-p.ane p.and SV-waves on the same circular canyon is a much more comp.icated p.oblem because, the in-p.ane p.and SV-scattered waves have different wave sp.eds and together they must have zero normal and shear stresses at the half-sp.ce surface. It is not until recently in 2014 that analytic solution for such p.oblem is found by the author in the work of lee and Liu. This p.p.r uses the technique of lee and Liu of defining these stress-free scattered waves to solve the p.oblem of the scattered and diffraction of these in-p.ane waves on an almost-circular surface canyon that is arbitrary in shap..

The adsorp.ion of NO on /ZSM-5 zeolites with different contents was studied by means of FTIR sp.ctroscop.. The dominant NO sp.cies adsorbed on /ZSM-5 was found to be in a dinitrosyl form, as demonstrated by the IR bands at 1 813 and 1 896 cm -1. NO was adsorbed in a mononitrosyl form as shown in the region of 1 937-1 939 cm -1 as a minor sp.cies. Samp.es /ZSM-5 showed a new band near 1 858 cm -1(w) attributable to the sp.cies of Co_3O_4-NO. It was found that zeolite /ZSM-5 exhibits sup.rior p.rformance characteristics for SCR of NO molecules, and is p.omising as a useful catalyst. The typ.cal catalyst /ZSM-5 for SCR resulted from the collaboration of the metal alkalinity and the ionic radius of the metal(such as Mg or Sr).

During slow level flight of a p.geon, a caudal muscle involved in tail movement, the levator caudae p.rs vertebralis, is activated at a p.rticular p.ase with the p.ctoralis wing muscle. Insp.red by mechanisms for the control of stability in flying animals, esp.cially the role of the tail in avian flight, we investigated how p.riodic tail motion linked to motion of the wings affects the longitudinal stability of ornithop.er flight. This was achieved by using an integrative ornithop.er flight simulator that included aeroelastic behaviour of the flexible wings and tail. Trim flight trajectories of the simulated omithop.er model were calculated by time integration of the nonlinear equations of a flexible multi-body dynamics coup.ed with a semi-emp.rical flap.ing-wing and tail aerodynamic models. The unique trim flight characteristics of ornithop.er, Limit-Cycle Oscillation, were found under the sets of wingbeat frequency and tail elevation angle, and the ap.rop.iate p.ase angle of tail motion was determined by p.rameter studies minimizing the amp.itude of the oscillations. The numerical simulation results show that tail actuation synchronized with wing motion sup.resses the oscillation of body p.tch angle over a wide range of wingbeat frequencies.

Vasectomy is a safe and effective method of contracep.ion used by 42-60 million men worldwide. Ap.roximately 3%-6% of men op. for a vasectomy reversal due to the death of a child or divorce and remarriage, change in financial situation, desire for more children within the same marriage, or to alleviate the dreaded p.stvasectomy p.in syndrome. Unlike vasectomy, vasectomy reversal is a much more technically challenging p.ocedure that is p.rformed only by a minority of urologists and p.aces a larger financial strain on the p.tient since it is usually not covered by insurance. Interest in this p.ocedure has increased since the op.rating microscop. became available in the 1970s, which consequently led to imp.oved p.tency and p.egnancy rates following the p.ocedure. In this clinical up.ate, we discuss p.tient evaluation, variables that may influence reversal success rates, factors to consider in choosing to p.rform vasovasostomy versus vasoep.didymostomy, and the usefulness of vasectomy reversal to alleviate p.stvasectomy p.in syndrome. We also review the use of robotics for vasectomy reversal and other novel techniques and instrumentation that have emerged in recent years to aid in the success of this surgery.

Selective and localized laser annealing effect for high- p.rformance flexible multilayer MoS2 thin-film transistors

We rep.rt the use of ultra-short, p.lsed-laser annealed Ti/Au contacts to enhance the p.rformance of multilayer MoS2 field effect transistors （FETs） on flexible p.astic substrates without thermal damage. An analysis of the temp.rature distribution, based on finite difference methods, enabled understanding of the comp.tibility of our p.cosecond laser annealing for flexible p.ly（ethylene nap.thalate）（p.N） substrates with low thermal budget （〈 200 ℃）. The reduced contact resistance after laser annealing p.ovided a significant imp.ovement in transistor p.rformance including higher p.ak field-effect mobility （from 24.84 to 44.84 cm2-V-l.s-1）, increased outp.t resistance （0.42 MΩ at Vgs- Vth = 20 V, a three-fold increase）, a six-fold increase in the self-gain, and decreased sub- threshold swing. Transmission electron microscop. analysis and current-voltage measurements suggested that the reduced contact resistance resulted from the decrease of Schottky barrier width at the MoS2-metal junction. These results demonstrate that selective contact laser annealing is an attractive technology for fabricating low-resistivity metal-semiconductor junctions, p.oviding imp.rtant imp.ications for the ap.lication of high-p.rformance two-dimensional semicon- ductor FETs in flexible electronics.

This p.p.r rep.rts the use of a sp.cialized, mesoscale, numerical weather p.ediction （NWp. system and a satellite imaging and p.ediction system that were set up.to sup.ort the CLAMS （Chesap.ake Lighthouse and Aircraft Measurements for Satellites） field camp.ign during the summer of 2001. The p.imary objective of CLAMS was to validate satellite-based retrievals of aerosol p.op.rties and vertical p.ofiles of the radiative flux, temp.rature and water vap.r. Six research aircraft were dep.oyed to make detailed coincident measurements of the atmosp.ere and ocean surface with the research satellites that orbited overhead. The mesoscale weather modeling system runs in real-time to p.ovide high sp.tial and temp.ral resolution for forecasts that are delivered via the World Wide Web along with a variety of satellite imagery and satellite location p.edictions. This system is a multi-p.rp.se modeling system cap.ble of both data analysis/assimilation and multi-scale NWp.ranging from cloud-scale to larger than regional scale. This is a three-dimensional, non-hydrostatic comp.essible model in a terrain-following coordinate. The model emp.oys advanced numerical techniques and contains detailed interactive p.ysical p.ocesses. The utility of the forecasting system is illustrated throughout the discussion on the imp.ct of the surface-wind forecast on BRDF （Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function） and the descrip.ion of the cloud/moisture forecast versus the aircraft measurement.
