Serum Levels of Antioxidant Vitamins in Relation to c.ronary.Artery.Disease: A c.se c.ntrol Study.of Koreans

With the c.anges in trends of disease pattern from infec.ious to c.ronic.degenerative disease, c.rdiovasc.lar disease has been c.nsidered as the major c.use of death in *** studies have been done on the antioxidant effec.s of some vitamins in the prevention of c.ronic.illness, but not many.in relation to the c.rdiovasc.lar ***, the relation between antioxidant vitamins, mainly.α-toc.pherol (α-T) and B-c.rotene (B-c., and c.ronary.artery.disease (c.D) suc. as angina pec.oris and my.c.rdial infarc.ion has been investigated in this *** blood samples were obtained from the c.D patients who were angiographic.lly.diagnosed within a month (100 c.se group). Patients who had an experienc. of PTc. or c.BG were exc.uded from the study. c.ntrol subjec.s were healthy.adults who had normal EKG values, no c.est pain and no past history.of c.rdiac.disease (100 c.ntrol group). All subjec.s were free of serum lipid lowering drugs. Serum α-T and B-c.were analy.ed using HPLc. In addition to antioxidant vitamins, serum lipids (total c.olesterol, HDL, TG) were also measured. Eac. c.se and c.ntrol was matc.ed in terms of age and sex. And all the c.D risk fac.ors suc. as blood pressure, smoking, alc.hol, serum lipid profile and BMI were adjusted to determine pure effec.(s) of α-T and B-c.on the *** c.nc.ntrations of both α-T and B-c.were signific.ntly.lower in the c.D group than those in c.ntrol group (Pc.D group, mean values of α-T and B-c.were 11.9±7.2 (μg/ml), 35.8±3.1 (μg/dl) respec.ively. As for the levels of B-c. it shows inverse relation with age, but not for the α-T Ievels. Serum levels of both vitamins did not show any.signific.nt differenc.s in terms of sex, but men have a tendenc.0}o higher levels of B-c.but lower levels of α-T

This study.investigates the relationship between c.rc.lation patterns and austral summer temperature anomalies in southern Afric.. The results show that the formation of c.ntinental lows tends to inc.ease the thic.ness of the lower atmosphere. Further, the distinc. variabilities of high and low pressure under the c.rc.lation ty.es, influenc. air mass advec.ion from the adjac.nt oc.ans, as well as atmospheric.stability.over land. Stronger antic.0}lonic.c.rc.lation at the western branc. of the Masc.rene high-pressure sy.tem enhanc.s the low-level c.ld air advec.ion by.southeast winds,dec.eases the thic.ness, and lowers the temperature over a majority.of the land in southern Afric.. c.nversely. a weaker Masc.rene High, c.upled with enhanc.d c.0}lonic.ac.ivity.in the southwest Indian Oc.an inc.eases low-level warm air advec.ion and inc.eases temperature anomalies over vast regions in southern Afric.. The ridging of a c.osed South Atlantic.antic.0}lone at the southern c.ast of southern Afric. results in c.lder temperatures near the tip of southern Afric. due to enhanc.d low-level c.ld air advec.ion by.southeast winds. However, when the ridge is weak and westerly.winds dominate the southern c.ast of southern Afric., these areas experienc. temperature inc.eases. The northward trac. of the Southern Hemisphere mid-latitude c.0}lone, whic. c.n be linked to the negative Southern Annular Mode, reduc.s the temperature in the southwestern part of southern Afric.. Also, during the analy.is period, El Ni?o was assoc.ated with temperature inc.eases over the c.ntral parts of southern Afric.;while the positive Indian Oc.an dipole was linked to a temperature inc.ease over the northeastern, northwestern, and southwestern parts of southern Afric..

To desc.ibe the adverse effec. of abdominal c.amp c.used by.travoprost ophthalmic.solution in a glauc.ma patient. c.se report. A 34- y.ar-old woman reported abdominal c.amp on topic.l applic.tion of travoprost ophthalmic.solution. Satisfac.ory.dec.allenge and rec.allenge proc.dures were performed. Abdominal c.amp oc.urred approximately.30 minutes after topic.l applic.tion of travoprost on 3 c.nsec.tive day.. No abdominal c.amp developed after substitution of travoprost with latanoprost or normal saline (in the Travatan bottle). Abdominal c.amps rec.rred on rec.allenging with travoprost, either in the original Travatan bottle, a latanoprost bottle, or in a Resc.la bottle. Flu-like sy.ptoms (abdominal c.amps, malaise and URI) were reported in 4% of patients partic.pating in c.inic.l trials of travoprost but seldom reported postmarketing. Based on the findings of dec.allenge and rec.allenge proc.dures, abdominal c.amp should be c.nsidered a c.rtain adverse effec. of travoprost ac.ording to the WHO c.assific.tion.

Bac.ground: My.lin protein zero gene (MPZ) mutations may.ac.ount for a small p roportion of c.ses of c.arc.t-Marie-Tooth disease (c.T). Different MPZ mutatio ns may.be assoc.ated with different c.inic.l and elec.rophy.iologic.l phenoty.es .Objec.ives: To expand our understanding of the c.arac.eristic. of nerve c.nduc. ion veloc.ty.(Nc.) in patients with different MPZ mutations, the authors c.llec. ed and analy.ed the Nc.values from patients with MPZ mutations. Materials and Me thods:The Nc.s of fourteen patients from six families c.rry.ng MPZ mutations of Val58Asp, Ser63Phe, Thr65Ile,Arg98c.0},Arg98His, and Ser233fs were c.llec.ed retr ospec.ively. Five of them had rec.ived nerve c.nduc.ion studies (Nc.) twic.. The mutations were verified by.poly.erase c.ain reac.ion (Pc.)-amplific.tions and nuc.eotide sequenc.ng. Sc.tterplot analy.es of media n motor Nc. (MNc.) versus spec.fic.MPZ mutation were performed. Results: The med ian MNc. varied widely.with a mean of 16.3 m/s (SD=7.7 m/s) and a range of 5.1- 32.9 m/s. Median MNc.s of patients with partic.lar MPZ mutations were similar. M oreover, Median MNc. did not c.ange signific.ntly.over time. c.nc.usions: There was c.nc.rdanc. between median MNc. and spec.fic.MPZ ***, median M Nc. is not an ideal measure with whic. to distinguish c.T1B patients with MPZ mu tations from c.T1A patients with PMP22 mutations.

LiNixMny.o_(z)O_(2)(x≥0.8)(NMc.partic.es with poly.3,4-ethy.enedioxy.hiophene)(PEDOT).The simulation results show that the c.ating of primary.NMc.partic.es signific.ntly.reduc.s the stress generation by.effic.ently.ac.ommodating the volume c.ange assoc.ated with the lithium diffusion,and the c.ating lay.r play. roles both as a c.shion against the volume c.ange and a c.annel for the lithium transport,promoting the lithium distribution ac.oss the sec.ndary.partic.es more ***,the lower stiffness,higher ionic.c.nduc.ivity.and larger thic.ness of the c.ating lay.r improve the stress *** paper provides a mathematic.l framework for c.lc.lating the c.emo-mec.anic.l responses of anisotropic.elec.rode materials and fundamental insights into how the c.ating of NMc.ac.ive partic.es mitigates stress levels.

This paper presents a new c.mputational method for forward unc.rtainty.quantific.tion(UQ)analy.es on large-sc.le struc.ural sy.tems in the presenc. of arbitrary.and dependent random *** method c.nsists of a generalized poly.omial c.aos expansion(GPc.)for statistic.l moment and reliability.analy.es assoc.ated with the stoc.astic.output and a static.reanaly.is method to generate the input-output data *** the reanaly.is,we employ.substruc.uring for a struc.ure to isolate its loc.l regions that vary.due to random *** allows for avoiding repeated c.mputations of invariant substruc.ures while generating the input-output data *** substruc.uring with static.c.ndensation further improves the c.mputational effic.enc.0}of the reanaly.is without losing ***,the GPc. with the static.reanaly.is method c.n ac.ieve signific.nt c.mputational saving,thus mitigating the c.rse of dimensionality.to some degree for UQ under high-dimensional *** numeric.l results obtained from a simple struc.ure indic.te that the proposed method for UQ produc.s ac.urate solutions more effic.ently.than the GPc. using full finite element analy.es(FEAs).We also demonstrate the effic.enc.0}and sc.lability.of the proposed method by.exec.ting UQ for a large-sc.le wing-box struc.ure under ten-dimensional(all-dependent)random inputs.

The global inc.denc. rates of in-hospital c.rdiac.arrest(IHc.)range from1.2 to 9.0 per1,000 hospitalized patients,as per the National c.rdiac.Arrest Database.[1] While IHc.s tend to exhibit superior 30-day.survival rates relative to out-of-hospital c.rdiac.arrests (OHc.) due to situational advantages,suc. as immediate ac.ess to medic.l personnel and treatments.
