In order to improve the visibility for outside use of organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), the polarized film and black matrix pattern have been used in the small and medium sized OLEDs;however, these cause problem of reducing the emission efficiency of OLED. Changing the color of pixel define layer (PDL) from brown to black is an important point for improving the efficiency and visibility of OLEDs. In this work we studied the photoresist material containing black pigment and the photolithographic process for patterning of black PDL on OLEDs. The black PDL patterns made with our synthesized polyimides as thermal stabilizer were found to give high thermal stability over 300°C.

Polyimides are well-known for their high chemical inertness and thermal stability. However, it is usually challenging to synthesize UV-curable polyimides since the imidization reaction requires such harsh conditions that acrylate type double bonds cannot withstand. In this work, synthetic methods are developed to obtain polyester-imide type binder polymers with high thermal stability, high compatibility with the other components of the black photoresist, and fine photolithographic patterning property for the negative-tone black photoresist. The syntheses of diimide-diacid or diimide-diol intermediates for the polyesterification with dianhydride gave polyester imides which meets this requirement. The photolithographic tests have shown that the patterning of the micron-sized PDL of the organic light emitting diode (OLED) panel could be obtained. This work will interest the researchers working on the design and optimization of thermally stable binder polymers.

Polyimides are well known for their high chemical and thermal stability. However, a few polyimide samples have been reported which are completely soluble in such environmentally friendly and common organic solvent as propyleneglycol monomethyl ether acetate (PGMEA). In this work thermally stable, organosoluble and photocurable acidic polyimides were synthesized by simple and cost effective one-pot solution method. They polyimides obtained by this method showed much higher thermal stability (1 wt% loss temperature 345°C) than melt polymerized polyimides owing to the photocrosslinking reactions by the terminal double bonds.

Epoxy acrylate (EA) resin, which originates from epoxides, has long been served as a photocurable coating and adhesive material owing to its double bonds. Specifically, alkaline-developable EA resins can be used as a binder polymer in negative-tone photoresists. In this work, we synthesized a series of acidic polyester-type epoxy methacrylate resins, characterized the intermediates and products, and tested their performance as a binder polymer for the photolithographic micro-patterning of the pixel-defining layer on organic light-emitting diodes in comparison to a widely used commercial binder polymer. Copolymer-type binder polymer BP-2-2 was produced excellent patterning with no residue due to its high compatibility with the black mill base.

The fabrication of black pixel define layer (PDL) on the organic light emitting diode (OLED) panel has been developed actively by using negative-tone black photoresist which contain photoinitiator, photosensitizer, binder polymer, multifunctional monomer and black mill base in order to improve the outdoor visibility of OLEDs. Cardo type binder polymer containing bulky and rigid fluorene group has been widely used in the black photoresist formulation. However, the commercial cardo binder polymer has high cost and requires high UV dose for the fine patterning of PDL in the photolithographic process. In this study we designed and synthesized various non-cardo type binder polymers and evaluated the new binder polymers in comparison with the cardo binder polymer for the improved patterning of PDL on the OLED panel.

Stretchable Strain Sensors Fabricated by Screen Printing of Silver Paste on the Surface Modified Transparent Elastomeric Polyurethane Films

Strain sensors for human-motion detection must offer high stretchability, high sensitivity, fast response, and high recovery speed. In this study, we choose silver paste as a sensing material and use a screen printing method to fabricate the strain sensor based upon an electrical-resistance mechanism. After curing elastomeric polyurethane film with a thickness of 150 μm on PET film, the polyester resin mixed with blocked isocyanate curing agent was coated as a masking layer to reduce the film’s stickiness. The effect of the polyester masking layer upon the silver paste screen printing process was examined using a rolling-ball-tack test, TGA analysis of polyester resins, and cured silver-electrode films. The cost-effective strain sensor fabricated by using silver paste and screen printing processes on the stretchable-polyurethane-substrate film showed high sensitivity and fast response in a strain range of up to 100%.

Smart phones have become one of major electronic devices for human being. The easy and rapid exchange of information between man and machine is carried out by the touch screen panel (TSP) installed in the smart phones. Currently the smart phones are widely spread out while displays for automobiles are in the initial stage of developments. Since the automobile displays should fit the curved area of indoor space of the vehicle, the TSPs for automobiles need to be fabricated on the flexible and stretchable substrate film. In this study, we selected the thermo-plastic polyurethane film as the substrate film and examined the materials and process for fabrication of metal mesh type transparent conducting electrode films suitable for TSPs of automobile displays. The optimum UV resin system was established by the evaluation of various UV resin formulations in the UV imprinting process to make 3 × 3.5 μm trench patterns on the metal mesh type electrode film utilizing the embossed metal mask plate. The Ag paste has also been prepared by synthesis of Ag nanoparticles and formulation with the binder polymers. The inlay (filling) of Ag paste in the trench layer of transparent electrode film showed that the variation of electrical resistance was within 10% upon bending up to 100,000 times to radius of 3 mm.

High-dose hepatitis B immunoglobulin therapy in hepatocellular carcinoma with hepatitis B virus-DNA/hepatitis B e antigen-positive patients after living donor liver transplantation

AIM: To investigate the impact of high-dose hepatitis B immunoglobulin(HBIG) on hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and hepatitis B virus(HBV) recurrence and overall survival after living donor liver transplantation(LDLT).METHODS: We investigated 168 patients who underwent LDLT due to HCC, and who were HBV-DNA/hepatitis B e antigen(HBe Ag)-positive, from January 2008 to December 2013. After assessing whether the patients met the Milan criteria, they were assigned to the low-dose HBIG group and high-dose HBIG group. Using the propensity score 1:1 matching method, 38 and 18 pairs were defined as adhering to and not adhering to the Milan criteria. For each pair, HCC recurrence, HBV recurrence and overall survival were analyzed by the Kaplan-Meier method and the log rank test according to the HBIG dose. RESULTS: Among those who met the Milan criteria, the 6-mo, 1-year, and 3-year HCC recurrence-free survival rates were 88.9%, 83.2%, and 83.2% in the low-dose HBIG group and 97.2%, 97.2%, and 97.2% in the high-dose HBIG group, respectively(P = 0.042).In contrast, among those who did not meet the Milan criteria, HCC recurrence did not differ according to the HBIG dose(P = 0.937). Moreover, HBV recurrence and overall survival did not differ according to the HBIG dose among those who met(P = 0.317 and 0.190, respectively) and did not meet(P = 0.350 and 0.987, respectively) the Milan criteria. CONCLUSION: High-dose HBIG therapy can reduce HCC recurrence in HBV-DNA/HBe Ag-positive patients after LDLT.

Herein,incremental capacity-differential voltage (IC-DV) at a high C-rate (HC) is used as a non-invasive diagnostic tool in lithium-ion batteries,which inevitably exhibit capacity fading caused by multiple mechanisms during charge/discharge *** battery degradation modes are complex,the simple output of capacity fading does not yield any useful data in that *** IC and DV curves obtained under restricted conditions (<0.1C,25℃) were applied in non-invasive analysis for accurate observation of degradation symptoms,a facile,rapid diagnostic approach without intricate,complex calculations is critical in on-board ***,Li Ni_(0.5)Mn_(0.3)Co_(0.2)O_(2)(NMC532)/graphite pouch cells were cycled at 4 and 6C and the degradation characteristics,i.e.,loss of active materials (LAM) and loss of lithium inventory (LLI),were parameterized using the IC-DV *** the incremental current cycling,the initial steep LAM and LLI slopes underwent gradual transitions to gentle states and revealed the gap between low-and high-current measurements.A quantitative comparison of LAM at high and low C-rate showed that a IC;revealed the relative amount of available reaction region limited by cell ***,this did not provide a direct relationship for estimating the LAM at a low ***,the limiting LLI,which is calculated at a C-rate approaching 0,was obtained by extrapolating the LLI through more than two points measured at high C-rate,and therefore,the LLI at 0.1C was accurately determined using rapid cycling.

The removal of As（III） and As（V） from aqueous solution was investigated using waste cast iron, which is a byproduct of the iron casting process in foundries. Two types of waste cast iron were used in the experiment： grind precipitate dust （GPD） and cast iron shot （CIS）. The X-ray diffraction analysis indicated the presence of Fe~ on GPD and CIS. Batch experiments were performed under different concentrations of As（III） and As（V） and at various initial pH levels. Results showed that waste cast iron was effective in the removal of arsenic. The adsorption isotherm study indicated that the Langmuir isotherm was better than the Freundlich isotherm at describing the experimental result. In the adsorption of both As（III） and As（V）, the adsorption capacity of GPD was greater than CIS, mainly due to the fact that GPD had higher surface area and weight percent of Fe than CIS. Results also indicated the removal of As（III） and As（V） by GPD and CIS was influenced by the initial solution pH, generally decreasing with increasing pH from 3.0 to 10.5. In addition, both GPD and CIS were more effective at the removal of As（III） than As（V） under given experimental conditions. This study demonstrates that waste cast iron has potential as a reactive material to treat wastewater and groundwater containing arsenic.
