Background:massively parallel sequencing of environmental DNA allows microbiological studies to be performed in greater detail than was possible with first-generation *** example,it facilitates the use of approaches hitherto largely applied to flora and fauna,such as rank abundance distribution(RAD)***:Here,we set out to advance the knowledge on ***(SAR11)communities from southern South America using environmental sequences from the open ocean in the Argentine sea,the uncharted Engaño Bay,as well as a river and an oligohaline shallow lake from the Patagonian Steppe *** structures of the SAR11 assemblages present in these ecosystems were dissected by direct and rarefaction-based estimates of species richness,and evaluations of the corresponding abundance distributions(ADs),which was addressed by RAD ***:microbial community composition analyses revealed that the studied SAR11 assemblages coexist with 27 bacterial ***11 richness was in general very high,but ADs turned out to be highly *** results were compatible with prior knowledge,and similar to that derived from point estimates of ***,our comprehensive dissection allowed for more detailed quantitative comparisons to be m.de between the environments surveyed,and revealed differences regarding both richness and the underlying ***:despite SAR11 assemblages being extremely rich,their ADs are very *** and ADs can vary,not only between fresh and salt water,but also between oceanic and coastal marine *** obtained results provide insights on general topics such as adaptation and the contrast between marine and freshwater radiations.

This study aims at investigating the effects of foliar application of aqueous solutions of La3+and Ce3+nitrates on soybean plants(Glycine max).First,we observe that Triton HW 1000 surfactant at 0.01 vol%reduces droplets contact angle and increases their drying *** greenhouse conditions,the foliar treatments do not affect chlorophyll content,plant height,number of leaves,number of pods,number of seeds per pod,and average seed ***,the treatments induce phytotoxicity since foliar injuries appear after the *** X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy combined to scanning electron microscopy shows that the leaf lesions are positively correlated to accumulation of Ce and La on the leaf surface and also promote structural alteration to the epidermal cells.X-ray absorption near edge structure shows that the La and Ce nitrates are partially bio transformed into oxides by the leaves which might explain the harmful effects.

In mediterranean regions drought is the major factor limiting spring barley and durum wheat grain yields. This study aimed to compare spring barley and durum wheat root and shoot responses to drought and quantify relationships between root traits and water uptake under terminal *** spring barley（Hordeum vulgare L. cv. Rum） and two durum wheat mediterranean cultivars（Triticum turgidum L. var durum cvs Hourani and Karim） were examined in soil‐column experiments under well watered and drought conditions. Root system architecture traits, water uptake, and plant growth were measured. Barley aerial biomass and grain yields were higher than for durum wheat cultivars in well watered conditions. Drought decreased grain yield more for barley（47%） than durum wheat（30%, Hourani）. Root‐to‐shoot dry matter ratio increased for durum wheat under drought but not for barley, and root weight increased for wheat in response todrought but decreased for barley. The critical root length density（RLD） and root volume density（RVD） for 90% available water capture for wheat were similar to（cv. Hourani） or lower than（cv. Karim） for barley depending on wheat cultivar. For both species, RVD accounted for a slightly higher proportion of phenotypic variation in water uptake under drought than RLD.

A Cu-1.5 wt.%Ti/Diamond(55 vol.%)composite was fabricated by hot forging from powder mixture of copper,titanium and diamond powders at 1050?C.A nano-thick TiC interfacial layer was formed between the diamond particle and copper matrix during forging,and it has an orientation relationship of(111)TiC//(002)Cu&[110]TiC//[110]Cuwith the copper *** analysis suggests that TiC is semicoherently bond with copper matrix,which helps reduce phonon scattering at the TiC/Cu interface and facilitates the heat transfer,further leading to the hot-forged copper/diamond composite(referred as to Cu-Ti/Dia-0)has a thermal conductivity of 410 W/m K,and this is about 74%of theoretical thermal conductivity of hot-forged copper/composite(552 W/m K).However,the formation of thin amorphous carbon layer in diamond particle(next to the interfacial TiC layer)and deformed structure in the copper matrix have adverse effect on the thermal conductivity of Cu-Ti/Dia-0 composite.800℃-annealing eliminates the discrepancy in TiC interface morphology between the diamond-{100}and-{111}facets of Cu-Ti/Dia-0 composite,but causes TiC particles coarsening and agglomerating for the Cu-Ti/Dia-2 composite and interfacial layer cracking and spallation for the Cu-Ti/Dia-1 *** addition,a large amount of graphite was formed by titanium-induced diamond graphitization in the Cu-Ti/Dia-2 *** these factors deteriorate the heat transfer behavior for the annealed Cu-Ti/Dia *** heat treatment needs to be continually investigated to improve the thermal conductivity of hot-forged CuTi/Dia composite by eliminating deformed structure in the copper matrix with limit/without impacts on the formed TiC interfacial layer.

Rainfall simulators have been used for many years contributing to the understanding of soil and water conservation ***,rainfall simulators’design and operation might be rather demanding for achieving specific rainfall intensity distributions and drop characteristics and are still open for *** study explores the potential of combining spray nozzle simulators with meshes to change rainfall characteristics,namely drop properties(drop diameters and fall speeds).A rainfall simulator laboratory set-up was prepared that enabled the incorporation of different wire meshes beneath the spray *** tests conducted in this exploratory work included different types of spray nozzles,mesh materials(plastic and steel),square apertures and wire thicknesses,and positions of the meshes in relation to the *** intensity and drop size distribution and fall speed were *** showed that the meshes combined with nozzles increased the mean rainfall intensity on the 1 m^(2) control plot below the nozzle and altered the rain drops’properties,by increasing the mass-weighted mean drop diameter,for example.
