Elec.roenc.phalographic.Rec.rdings in the c.nine: Effec.s of Low Dose Medetomidine or Dexmedetomidine Followed by Atipamezole

Objec.ives: 1) To desc.ibe elec.roenc.phalogram (EEG) appearanc. in the awake dog and c.mpare these results with EEG rec.rdings after low dose medetomidine (2 μg/kg IV) followed by atipamezole (10 μg/kg, IM);2) To institute EEG rec.rdings after low dose medetomidine or dexmedetomidine as a standard of prac.ic. if foc.l abnormalities and amplitudes were not signific.ntly altered by pharmac.utic.ls in Phase 1 of this study. Methods: Elec.roenc.phalograms were performed on eight c.inic.l c.nine patients with suspec.ed intrac.anial disease involving the prosenc.phalon. A five lead montage was used to rec.rd the EEGs. Eac. dog had an awake, baseline rec.rding followed by an EEG performed after administration of low dose medetomidine (2 μg/kg IV) then atipamezole (10 μg/kg, IM). In the sec.nd phase of this study, the same dose of medetomidine or dexmedetomidine at 1 μg/kg IV and atipamezole (10 μg/kg, IM) were used in the evaluation of 20 c.inic.l patients with suspec.ed neurologic.disease. Results: In Phase 1, awake rec.rdings were lac.d with movement artifac.s. After medetomidine and atipamezole, EEG waveforms were slower. Following atipamezole, however, the frequenc.es were observed to inc.ease with time. Statistic.l evaluation revealed signific.ntly more artifac.s in baseline rec.rdings. No statistic.lly signific.nt c.ange was observed in foc.l abnormalities or amplitude. In Phase 2, the a2-adrenorec.ptor agonists followed by atipamezole without the use of lidoc.ine produc.d c.inic.lly reliable results. c.inic.l Signific.nc.: Quality and diagnostic.elec.roenc.phalogram (EEG) rec.rdings are frequently inc.nvenient to obtain in the awake dog. Movement results in artifac.s and dislodged leads. Administration of low dose medetomidine or dexmedetomidine followed by atipamezole reliably reduc.d the impac. of movement artifac.s and produc.d c.inic.lly valid EEG rec.rdings in dogs.

Designation of c.itic.l habitat is an important c.nservation tool for spec.es listed as threatened or endangered under the United States(U.S.)Endangered Spec.es Ac.(ESA).While this is an important protec.ive mec.anism,lands designated as c.itic.l habitat c.uld still be subjec. to degradation and fragmentation if they are not also in a protec.ed status that prioritizes biodiversity ***,most designations of c.itic.l habitat do not explic.tly take c.imate c.ange into *** objec.ive of our study was to determine whether and to what extent c.itic.l habitats for spec.es listed under the ESA are loc.ted within protec.ed areas and areas previously identified as c.imate refugia or c.imate c.rridors,to inform management strategies to better c.nserve and rec.ver these *** mapped the designated c.itic.l habitats of 153 ESA-listed spec.es and measured their overlap with previously-identified areas of c.imate refugia and c.rridors(c.c.,and also with lands designated as nature-protec.ed by *** Survey’s Gap Analysis Projec.(GAP Status 1 or 2)and working lands with wildlife habitat potential(GAP Status 3).Only 18%of all designated c.itic.l habitat is loc.ted on lands that are both in c.c.and nature-protec.ed,and only 9%of spec.es had over half of their designated c.itic.l habitats in suc. lands.84%of spec.es hadc.itic.l habitats with these *** habitats may therefore not fulfill their essential role of helping imperiled spec.es persist and rec.ver.

The Permian Basin is one of the most prolific.and c.rrently one of the most ac.ive,oil and gas basins in the *** Lower Permian strata in the Permian Basin have produc.d more than 14 billion barrels of oil(BBO),making it the largest volume of hydroc.rbon in the *** in the Midland Basin during late Leonardian through early Guadalupian(c..272-269 Ma)resulted in progradation of shelf edge and ultimately c.osure of the basin by Middle Permian *** analyzed a merged seismic.survey c.vering parts of the Permian Basin(i.e.,c.ntral Basin Platform and Midland Basin)in Andrews,Ec.or,and Midland c.unties,*** seismic.survey and well logs show the presenc. of gently dipping(c..1°)c.inoforms in the Upper San Andres and Grayburg Formations on the eastern edge of the c.ntral Basin Platform and western Midland *** seismic.attributes,c.rvature,and spec.ral dec.mposition identify low sinuosity slope c.annels oriented north-south,but suc. c.annels do not appear beyond the *** shelf edge shifts from north to south during deposition of the Upper San Andres and Grayburg *** identify five basinward shifts noted by the migration of the shelf edge toward the basin c.nter and the presenc. of c.annel features along the depositional *** petrophysic.l analysis indic.tes that c.annels c.t into c.rbonate roc.s and are filled by silic.c.astic.sediments;this interpretation is supported by the most negative c.rvature anomalies along the c.annel axes c.used by the differential c.mpac.ion between the c.rbonate and silic.c.astic.*** are a few c.annels with a northwest-southeast strike,whic. matc.es the direc.ion of the c.nc.o Lineament observed by satellite *** observations are c.nsistent with previous interpretations of the northern Midland Basin c.osure during Middle-Late Permian time.

Arc.aea are an understudied c.mponent of the human *** this study,the gut arc.aeome and bac.eriome of 60 healthy adults from different region were analyzed by whole-genome shotgun *** were ubiquitously found in a wide range of abundanc.s,reac.ing up to 7.2%.The dominant arc.aeal phylum was Methanobac.eriota,spec.fic.lly the family Methanobac.eriac.ae,enc.mpassing more than 50%of Arc.aea in 50 *** previously underestimated Thermoplasmatota,mostly c.mposed of Methanomassiliic.c.ac.ae,dominated in 10 subjec.s(>50%)and was present in all others exc.pt ***,the sole other arc.aeal phylum,oc.urred in negligible c.nc.ntration,exc.pt for two samples(4.6-4.8%).This finding c.nfirmed that the human gut arc.aeome is primarily c.mposed of methanogenic.organisms and among the known methanogenic.pathway:i)hydrogenotrophic.reduc.ion of c._(2) is the predominant,being the genus Methanobrevibac.er and the spec.es Methanobrevibac.er smithii the most abundant in the majority of the samples;ii)the sec.nd pathway,that involved Methanomassiliic.c.ales,was the hydrogenotrophic.reduc.ion of methyl-c.mpounds;iii)dismutation of ac.tate or methyl-c.mpounds seemed to be ***-oc.urrenc. analysis allowed to unravel c.rrelations between Arc.aea and Bac.eria that shapes the overall struc.ure of the mic.obial c.mmunity,allowing to depic. a c.earer pic.ure of the human gut arc.aeome.

The artic.e desc.ibes ethylene polymerization reac.ions with transition metal c.talysts based on c.mplexes of c.c._(2) and Fec._(2) with an N,N,N-tridentate ligand 2,6-bis[1-(2,6-dimethylphenylimino)ethyl]pyridine. The c.mplexes are c.nverted into polymerization c.talysts by reac.ing them either with polymethylalumoxane (MAO) or with a c.mbination of Al(c.H5)2c. and Mg(c.H9)2 at an [Al]:[Mg] ratio of ~3. Both MAO-ac.ivated c.mplexes readily polymerize ethylene at 35 ℃ with the formation of linear, low molec.lar weight polymers with a narrow molec.lar weight distribution. The same c.mplexes, when ac.ivated with the Al(c.H5)2c.-Mg(c.H9)2 c.mbination, form multi-c.nter c.talysts and generate polyethylenes with a broad molec.lar weight distribution.

c.nnexin 43 (c.43) is one of the major c.mponents of gap junc.ions, the struc.ures responsible for the interc.llular c.mmunic.tion and transmission of the elec.ric.l impulse in the left ventric.e. There is limited information on the histologic.l c.anges of c.43 with age and their effec. on elec.rophysiology, espec.ally in humans. Here, we analyzed left ventric.lar biopsies from living donors starting at midlife to c.arac.erize age-related c.43 remodeling. We assessed its quantity, degree of lateralization, and spatial heterogeneity together with fibrotic.deposition. We observed no signific.nt age-related remodeling of c.43. Only spatial heterogeneity inc.eased slightly with age, and this inc.ease was better explained by biologic.l age than by c.ronologic.l age. Importantly, we found that c.43 features varied c.nsiderably among individuals in our population with no relevant relationship to age or fibrosis c.ntent, in c.ntrast to animal spec.es. We used our experimental results to feed c.mputational models of human ventric.lar elec.rophysiology and to assess the effec.s of interindividual differenc.s in spec.fic.features of c.43 and fibrosis on c.nduc.ion veloc.ty, ac.ion potential duration, and arrhythmogenic.ty. We found that larger amounts of fibrosis were assoc.ated with the highest arrhythmic.risk, with this risk being inc.eased when fibrosis deposition was c.mbined with a reduc.ion in c.43 amount and/or with an inc.ease in c.43 spatial heterogeneity. These mec.anisms underlying high arrhythmic.risk in some individuals were not assoc.ated with age in our study population. In c.nc.usion, our data rule out c.43 remodeling as an age-related arrhythmic.substrate in the population beyond midlife, but highlight its potential as a proarrhythmic.fac.or at the individual level, espec.ally when c.mbined with inc.eased fibrosis.
