DNA-directed assembly of copper nanoblocks with inbuilt fluorescent and electrochemical properties： Application in simultaneous amplification-free analysis of multiple RNA species

The intrinsic affinity of DNA molecules toward metallic ions can drive the specific formation of copper nanostructures within the nucleic acid helix structure in a sequence-dependent manner. The resultant nanostructures have interesting.fluorescent and electrochemical properties, which are attractive for novel biosensing.applications. However, the potential of using.DNA-templated nano- structures for precision disease diag.osis remains unexplored. Particularly, DNA- templated nanostructures show hig. potential for the universal amplification-free detection of different RNA biomarker species. Because of their low cellular levels and differing.species-dependent leng.h and sequence features, simultaneous detection of different messeng.r RNAs, microRNAs, and long.non-coding.RNAs species with a sing.e technique is challeng.ng. Here, we report a contemporary technique for facile in situ assembly of DNA-templated copper nanoblocks （CuNBs） on various RNA species targ.ts after hybridization-based mag.etic isolation. Our approach circumvents the typical limitations associated with amplification and labeling.procedures of current RNA assays. The synthesized CuNBs enabled amplification-free fM-level RNA detection with flexible fluorescence or electrochemical readouts. Furthermore, our nanosensing.technique displays potential for clinical application, as demonstrated by non-invasive analysis of three diag.ostic RNA biomarkers from a cohort of 10 prostate cancer patient urinary samples with 100%-concordance （quantitative reverse transcription- polymerase chain reaction （PCR） validation）. The g.od analytical performance and versatility of our method may be useful in both diag.ostics and research fields.

During.the 20th century,there has been an ong.ing.ag.icultural expansion and g.obal warming.two of the main determinants influencing.biodiversity chang.s in Arg.ntina.The red hocicudo mouse(Oxymycterus rufus)inhabits subtropical g.asslands and riparian habitats and has increased its abundance in recent years in central Arg.ntina ag.oecosystems.This paper describes the long.term temporal chang.s in O.rufus abundance in Exaltación de la Cruz department,Buenos Aires province,Arg.ntina,in relation to weatherfluctuations and landscape features,as well as analyzes the spatio-temporal structure of captures of animals.We used g.neralized liner models,semi-variog.ams,the Mantel test,and autocorrelation functions for the analysis of rodent data obtained from trapping. conducted between 1984 and 2014.O.rufus showed an increase in abundance across the years of study,with its distribution depending.on landscape features,such as habitat types and the distance tofloodplains.Capture rates showed a spatio-temporal ag.reg.tion,sug.esting.expansion from previously occupied sites.O.rufus was more abundant at lower minimum temperatures in summer,hig.er precipitation in spring.and summer,and lower precip-itations in winter.Weather conditions affected O.rufus abundance,but there was local variation that differed from g.obal patterns of climate chang..

Dysfunction in circadian rhythms is a common occurrence in patients with Alzheimer’s disease.A predominant function of the retina is circadian synchronization,carrying.information to the brain throug. the retinohypothalamic tract,which projects to the suprachiasmatic nucleus.Notably,Alzheimer’s disease hallmarks,including.amyloid-β,are present in the retinas of Alzheimer’s disease patients,followed/associated by structural and functional disturbances.However,the mechanistic link between circadian dysfunction and the patholog.cal chang.s affecting.the retina in Alzheimer’s disease is not fully understood,althoug. some studies point to the possibility that retinal dysfunction could be considered an early patholog.cal process that directly modulates the circadian rhythm.

Backg.ound In beef cattle, more than 50% of the energ. input to produce a unit of beef is consumed by the female that produced the calf. Development of g.nomic tools to identify females with hig. g.netic merit for reproductive function could increase the profitability and sustainability of beef production.Results g.nome-wide association studies(g.AS) were performed using.a sing.e-step g.nomic best linear unbiased prediction approach on preg.ancy outcome traits from a population of Ang.s–Brahman crossbred heifers. Furthermore, a validation g.AS was performed using.data from another farm. Heifers were g.notyped with the Bovine g.P F250 array that contains 221,077 SNPs. In the discovery population, heifers were bred in winter breeding.seasons involving.a sing.e round of timed artificial insemination(AI) followed by natural mating.for 3 months. Two phenotypes were analyzed: preg.ancy outcome to first-service AI(PAI;n = 1,481) and preg.ancy status at the end of the breeding.season(PEBS;n = 1,725). The heritability was estimated as 0.149 and 0.122 for PAI and PEBS, respectively. In the PAI model, one quantitative trait locus(QTL), located between 52.3 and 52.5 Mb on BTA7, explained about 3% of the g.netic variation, in a reg.on containing.a cluster of γ-protocadherin g.nes and SLC25A2. Other QTLs explaining.between 0.5% and 1% of the g.netic variation were found on BTA12 and 25. In the PEBS model, a larg. QTL on BTA7 was synonymous with the QTL for PAI, with minor QTLs located on BTA5, 9, 10, 11, 19, and 20. The validation population for preg.ancy status at the end of the breeding.season were Ang.s–Brahman crossbred heifers bred by natural mating. In concordance with the discovery population, the larg. QTL on BTA7 and QTLs on BTA10 and 12 were identified.Conclusions In summary, QTLs and candidate SNPs identified were associated with preg.ancy outcomes in beef heifers, including.a larg. The article describes ethylene polymerization reactions with transition metal catalysts based on complexes of CoCl_(2) and FeCl_(2) with an N,N,N-tridentate lig.nd 2,6-bis[1-(2,6-dimethylphenylimino)ethyl]pyridine. The complexes are converted into polymerization catalysts by reacting.them either with polymethylalumoxane (MAO) or with a combination of Al(C2H5)2Cl and Mg.C4H9)2 at an [Al]:[Mg. ratio of ~3. Both MAO-activated complexes readily polymerize ethylene at 35 ℃ with the formation of linear, low molecular weig.t polymers with a narrow molecular weig.t distribution. The same complexes, when activated with the Al(C2H5)2Cl-Mg.C4H9)2 combination, form multi-center catalysts and g.nerate polyethylenes with a broad molecular weig.t distribution.

The increasing.anthropog.nic emissions of g.eenhouse g.ses(g.g.is encourag.ng.extensive research in CO_(2)utilisation.Dry reforming.of methane(DRM)depicts a viable strateg. to convert both CO_(2)and CH4into syng.s,a worthwhile chemical intermediate.Among.the different active phases for DRM,the use of nickel as catalyst is economically favourable,but typically deactivates due to sintering.and carbon deposition.The stabilisation of Ni at different loading. in cerium zirconate inorg.nic complex structures is investig.ted in this work as strateg. to develop robust Ni-based DRM catalysts.XRD and TPR-H2analyses confirmed the existence of different phases according.to the Ni loading.in these materials.Besides,superficial Ni is observed as well as the existence of a CeNiO_(3)perovskite structure.The catalytic activity was tested,proving.that 10 wt.%Ni loading.is the optimum which maximises conversion.This catalyst was also tested in long.term stability experiments at 600and 800℃in order to study the potential deactivation issues at two different temperatures.At 600℃,carbon formation is the main cause of catalytic deactivation,whereas a robust stability is shown at 800℃,observing.no sintering.of the active phase evidencing.the success of this strateg. rendering.a new family of economically appealing.CO_(2)and biog.s mixtures upg.ading.catalysts.

Inflammatory reflex and cholinerg.c anti-inflammatory pathway:Innate immune system trig.ers a local inflammatory response following.an injury or a pathog.n invasion.Likewise,this inflammatory response is limited by rapid,localized,and adaptive anti-inflammatory responses which are crucial for maintaining.homeostasis.Hence,the loss of these responses converts a limited and protective inflammatory response into an excessive and harmful response.Anti-inflammatory responses are integ.ated into the central nervous system,since the central nervous system accumulates information about harmful events,activates defenses,and builds memory for survival.At the same time,it has been demonstrated that hypothalamic neuronal sig.aling.can be altered by inflammation in peripheral tissues.Additionally,immune cells release neuropeptides and neurotransmitters such as acetylcholine(ACh),the main neurotransmitter of the parasympathetic autonomic nervous system,evidencing.the communication between the immune and nervous systems(Tracey,2002).

Nowadays building. contain innovative materials,materials from local resources,production surpluses and rapidly renewable natural resources.Phase Chang. Materials(PCM)are one such g.oup of novel materials which reduce building.energ. consumption.With the wider availability of microencapsulated PCM,there is an opportunity to develop a new type of insulating.materials,combinate PCM with traditional insulation materials for latent heat energ. storag..These materials are typically flammable and are located on the interior wall finishing.yet there has been no detailed assessment of their fire performance.In this research work prototypes of low-density insulating.boards for indoor spaces from hemp shives using.carbamide resin binder and cold pressing.were studied.Bench-scale cone calorimeter tests were conducted to evaluate fire risk,with a focus on assessing.material flammability properties and the influence of PCM on the results.In this research,the amount of smoke,heat release rate,effective heat of combustion,specific extinction coefficient,mass loss,carbon dioxide yield,specific loss factor,ig.ition time of hemp straws samples and samples of hemp straws with 10%and without PCM admixture were compared.There is a risk of flammability for PCM and their fire reaction has not been evaluated when incorporating.PCM into interior wall finishing.boards.The obtained results can be used by desig.ers to balance the potential energ. saving. of using.PCM with a more complete understanding.and predictability of the associated fire risk when using.the proposed boards.It also allows for appropriate risk mitig.tion strateg.es.
