Rationale:Candida auris is a potential emerging pathogen among Candida and causes serious health threats *** concerns:We reported a case of vulvovaginal candidiasis caused by Candida auris.A 26-year-old female presented with complaints of vaginal discharge,itching and low back ***:High vaginal swab culture yielded *** strain was confirmed as Candida auris by amplification and sequencing the internal transcribed spacer *** susceptibility testing revealed that the isolate was resistant to fluconazole,amphotericin B and clotrimazole and susceptible to ketoconazole and *** isolate also exhibited biofilm forming ***:Her symptoms did not subside with initial management with fluconazole and ***,she was started on ketoconazole *** patient responded well to *** and lessons:To the best of our knowledge,this is the first report about the presence of a drug resistant biofilm forming Candida auris strain isolated from a vaginal swab sample from Chennai *** forming ability might contribute to its drug *** acid analysis helps in rapid and accurate identification of such rare species.

In this paper, a new numerical method for solving fractional differential equations(FDEs) is presented. The method is based upon the fractional Taylor basis approximations. The operational matrix of the fractional integration for the fractional Taylor basis is introduced. This matrix is then utilized to reduce the solution of the fractional differential equations to a system of algebraic equations. Illustrative examples are included to demonstrate the validity and applicability of this technique.

Background and Aims:Although hypovitaminosis D is common among patients with chronic liver disease(CLD),the data are inconsistent on its prevalence and its relationship with *** study aimed to estimate the prevalence of hypovitaminosis D among patients with CLD and to determine the relationship between hypovitaminosis D and severity of liver dysfunction,and calcium(Ca),phosphate(PO4)and parathyroid hormone(PTH)levels in ***:The study included 236 CLD patients attending the Department of Hepatology,Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital(Chennai,India).Serum levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D(25(OH)D),PTH,Ca,and PO4 were *** of liver dysfunction was graded using the Child-Turcotte-Pugh(CTP)***:The first report from our population showed that 162 of 236(68.6%)CLD patients had hypovitaminosis D(25(OH)D levels of<30 ng/mL),with higher frequency(124/162)76.5%among CTP B,C *** negative correlation(r=-0.288,p=0.0001)between 25(OH)D and CTP scores was noted in hypovitaminosis D *** of 25(OH)D was correlated negatively with PTH(r=-0.537,p=0.0001),positively with Ca(r=0.657,p=0.0001),and positively with PO4(r=0.477,p=0.0001)in sufficient vitamin D ***:Hypovitaminosis D is associated with higher CTP scores and is strongly associated with dysregulation of the Ca-PTH-vitamin D axis in *** measurement of vitamin D levels is essential,along with levels of PTH,Ca and PO4,to manage CLD patients.

In the recent years,error recovery circuits in optimized data path units are adopted with approximate computing *** this paper the novel multipliers have effective utilization in the newly proposed two different 4:2 approximate compressors that generate Error free Sum(ES)and Error free Carry(EC).Proposed ES and Proposed EC in 4:2 compressors are used for performing Partial Product(PP)*** structural arrangement utilizes Dadda structure based *** to the regularity of PP arrangement Dadda multiplier is chosen for compressor implementation that favors easy standard cell ASIC *** this,the proposed compression idealogy are more effective in the smallest n columns,and the accurate compressor in the remaining most significant *** limits the error in the multiplier output to be not more than 2n for an n X n *** choice among the proposed compressors is decided based on the significance of the sum and carry signals on the multiplier *** an enhancement to the proposed multiplier,we introduce two Area Efficient(AE)variants viz.,Proposed-AE(P-AE),and P-AE with Error Recovery(P-AEER).The proposed basic P-AE,and P-AEER designs exhibit 46.7%,52.9%,and 52.7%PDP reduction respectively when compared to an approximate multiplier of minimal error type and are designed with 90nm ASIC *** proposed design and their performance validation are done by using Cadence *** performance evaluations are carried out using cadence encounter with 90nm ASIC *** proposed-basic P-AEA and P-AEER designs demonstrate 46.7%,52.9%and 52.7%PDP reduction compared to the minimal error approximate *** proposed multiplier is implemented in digital image processing which revealed 0.9810 Structural SIMilarity Index(SSIM),to the least,and less than 3%deviation in ECG signal processing application.

In Wireless Body Area Networks(WBANs)with respect to health care,sensors are positioned inside the body of an individual to transfer sensed data to a central station *** great challenges posed to healthcare WBANs are the black hole and sink hole *** from deployed sensor nodes are attracted by sink hole or black hole nodes while grabbing the shortest *** this issue is quite a challenging task as a small variation in medicine intake may result in a severe *** work proposes a hybrid detection framework for attacks by applying a Proportional Coinciding Score(PCS)and an MK-Means algorithm,which is a well-known machine learning technique used to raise attack detection accuracy and decrease computational difficulties while giving treatments for heartache and respiratory ***,the gathered training data feature count is reduced through data pre-processing in the ***,the pre-processed features are sent to the MK-Means algorithm for training the data and promoting ***,certain attack detection measures given by the intrusion detection system,such as the number of data packages trans-received,are identified by the MK-Means *** study demonstrates that the MK-Means framework yields a high detection accuracy with a low packet loss rate,low communication overhead,and reduced end-to-end delay in the network and improves the accuracy of biomedical data.

Background and Aims:Liver enzyme abnormalities in coronavirus 2019(COVID-19)are being addressed in the *** predictive risk of elevated liver enzymes has not been established for COVID-19 *** this study,we hypothesized that elevated liver enzymes at ad-mission can predict the outcome of COVID-19 disease with other known indicators,such as ***:This retrospective study included all the consecutive hos-pitalized patients with confirmed COVID-19 disease from March 4th to May 31st,*** study was conducted in Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital,Chennai,Ta-mil Nadu,*** assessed demography,clinical vari-ables,COVID-19 severity,laboratory parameters,and ***:We included 1,512 patients,and median age was 47 years(interquartile range:34-60)with 36.9%being *** enzyme level(aspartate aminotrans-ferase and/or alanine aminotransferase)was elevated in 450/1,512(29.76%)*** was present in 713/1,512(47.16%)*** with liver enzymes’elevation and presence of comorbidity were older,more frequently hospitalized in ICU and had more severe symp-toms of COVID-19 at the time of *** of liver enzymes’elevation with comorbidity was a high risk factor for death(OR:5.314,95%CI:2.278-12.393),as compared to patients with presence of comorbidity(OR:4.096,95%CI:1.833-9.157).Conclusions:Comorbid-ity combined with liver enzymes’elevation at presentation independently increased the risk of death in COVID-19 by at least 5-fold.

Low Pressure DC Glow Discharge Air Plasma Surface Treatment of Polyethylene (PE) Film for Improvement of Adhesive Properties

The present work deals with the change in surface properties of polyethylene （PE） film using DC low pressure glow discharge air plasma and makes it useful for technical applications. The change in hydrophilicity of the modified PE film surface was investigated by measuring contact angle and surface energy as a function of exposure time. Changes in the morphological and chemical composition of PE films were analyzed by atomic force microscopy （AFM） and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS）. The improvement in adhesion was studied by measuring T-peel and lap-shear strength. The results show that the wettability and surface energy of the PE film has been improved due to the introduction of oxygen-containing polar groups and an increase in surface roughness. The XPS result clearly shows the increase in concentration of oxygen content and the formation of polar groups on the polymer surface. The AFM observation on PE film shows that the roughness of the surface increased due to plasma treatment. The above morphological and chemical changes enhanced the adhesive properties of the PE＇film surfaces, which was confirmed by T-peel and lap-shear tests.
