Sisyphus effects in hydrogen electrochemistry on metal silicides enabled by silicene subunit edge

Nonmetal elements strictly govern the electrochemical performance of molybdenum ***,the exact role played by nonmetals during electrocatalysis remains largely *** intermetallic MoSi_2comprising silicene subunits,we present an unprecedented hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)behavior in aqueous alkaline *** continuous operation,the HER activity of MoSi_2shows a more than one order of magnitude improvement in current density from 1.1 to 21.5 mA cm^(à2)at 0.4 V ***,this activation behavior is highly reversible,such that voltage withdrawal leads to catalyst inactivation but another operation causes ***,the system shows dynamics strikingly analogous to the legendary Sisyphus’labor,which drops and recovers in a stepwise manner repeatedly,but never succeeds in reaching the top of the *** WSi_2behaves almost the same as MoSi_2,whereas other metal silicides with silicyne subunits,including CrSi_2and TaSi_2,do not exhibit any anomalous behavior.A thin amorphous shell of MoSi_2is observed after reaction,within which the Si remains partially oxidized while the oxidation state of Mo is basically ***-principles calculations further reveal that the adsorption of hydroxide ions on silicene subunit edges and the subsequent Si vacancy formation in MoSi_2jointly lead to the anomalous HER kinetics of the adjacent Mo active *** work demonstrates that the role of nonmetal varies dramatically with the electronic and crystallographic structures of silicides and that silicene structural subunit may serve as a promoter for boosting HER in alkaline media.

Modeling of Deformation Processes in Semicrystalline Polymers with Allowance for the Glass Transition in the Amorphous Phase

The thermomechanical behavior of semicrystalline polymers is explored. A system of constitutive equations is constructed to describe the interrelation between the stress-strain state and the crystallization and glass transition processes in polymers. The developed equations take into account the influence of relaxation transitions (of glass transition-type) on the stress-strain state of a two-component system at the stage of crystallization and upon its completion. New kinetic equations are derived to interpret the behavior of the amorphous component of the polymer from a macroscopic view point without incorporating details of the molecular interactions. It is shown that the developed constitutive equations can give an adequate description of thermo-mechanical effects observed in materials during phase transformations and relaxation transitions. The validity of the model which is verified by numerical experiments aimed at providing a uniform stress-strain state under different types of loading.

The petrography and mineral composition of a mantle-derived garnet peridotite xenolith from the *** kimberlite pipe（Arkhangelsk Diamond Province,Russia） was *** on petrographic characteristics,the peridotite xenolith reflects a sheared *** sheared peridotite experienced a complex evolution with formation of three main mineral assemblages：（1） a relict harzburgite assemblage consist of olivine and orthopyroxene porphyroclasts and cores of garnet grains（Gar1） with sinusoidal rare earth elements（REE） chondrite C1 normalized patterns;（2） a neoblastic olivine and orthopyroxene assemblage;（3） the last assemblage associated with the formation of clinopyroxene and garnet marginal zones（Gar2）.Major and trace element compositions of olivine,orthopyroxene,clinopyroxene and garnet indicate that both the neoblast and clinopyroxene-Gar2 mineral assemblages were in equilibrium with a high Fe-Ti carbonate-silicate metasomatic *** nature of the metasomatic agent was estimated based on high field strength elements（HFSE） composition of olivine neoblasts,the garnet-clinopyroxene equilibrium condition and calculated by REE-composition of Gar2 and *** these evidences indicate that the agent was a high temperature carbonate-silicate melt that is geochemically linked to the formation of the protokimberlite melt.

Four-hour evaluation of a medical food in subjects with type 2 diabetes receiving oral hypoglycemic medication

Background: Postprandial hyperglycemia is an independent risk factor for diabetes-associated complications in individuals with type 2 diabetes. Dietary modification plays an important role in glycemic control. This study was to examine the efficacy of a diabetes specific formula (DSF) during a 4-hour postprandial meal tolerance test (MTT) in Russian subjects with type 2 diabetes receiving oral hypoglycemic medication. Methods: In a randomized, cross-over design, 168 eligible subjects from 11 study centers consumed, in a random order, the DSF (230 mL) or a common light hospital breakfast (i.e. standard meal) on two different occasions. The amounts of macronutrients were similar between the two meals providing ~200 kcal, 11 g protein, 26 g carbohydrate and 8 g fat. Capillary glucose levels were measured at baseline (before meal consumption), and post-meal consumption at 30, 60, 90, 120, 180 and 240 min. Results: The DSF was well tolerated in all subjects. There were 111 subjects completed the study per protocol (mean ± SEM: age: 58.6 ± 0.8 yr, BMI: 31.8 ± 0.42 kg/m2, waist circumference: 101 ± 1.3 cm, HbA1c: 8.0% ± 0.1%). Glucose levels reached peak values at 60 min (median) and the lowest levels at the end of the 240-min MTT test. The mean positive area under the curve (PAUC), the primary outcome, was significantly smaller after DSF consumption (mean ± SEM: 183.02 ± 18.74, median: 132.55) than the PAUC after consumption of the standard meal (mean ± SEM: 239.95 ± 23.11, median: 166.89;p = 0.027). The actual and adjusted peak glucose concentrations were similar between the two treatments. Conclusions: In patients with type 2 diabetes receiving oral hypoglycemic agents, compared to a hospital meal, the DSF improves postprandial glucose control. Combining results from earlier studies, long-term use of DSF may be beneficial to improve glucose management and decrease diabetes-associated complications.

新兴的量子点(QD)发光场效应晶体管(QLEFET)能够以较低成本产生高颜色纯度的发光,并且其光电特性易于调节.研究人员在设计器件结构和理解深层物理机制等方面已作了大量尝试,但由于界面处的电荷/激子损耗和QD层与相邻载流子传输层之间存在着较大的能量势垒,目前QLEFET的整体性能仍然偏低.鉴于此,本文采用一个介电层-QD-介电层的(DQD)的三明治夹层结构设计买现了外量子效率(EQE)超过20%的QLEFET.该DQD结构可以通过调节能带排列进一步调控器件中载流子行为,从而使激子复合区移动进入QD发光层.此外,通过抑制表面陷阱和界面电荷转移诱导的荧光碎灭引起的激子损耗,有效提高了激子的辐射复合.本研究提出的DQD夹层结构设计是一种改善QLEFET电致发光胜能的全新概念,也可以将其应用到其他材料体系中,促进QD在新型光电器件中的开发应用.

Yoko-Dovyren层状纯橄岩-橄长岩-辉长岩地块位于西伯利亚克拉通南部的一处褶皱构造框架中(俄罗斯贝加尔湖地区北部)。该地块的结构在其厚度最大的中部得到了着重研究。剖面底部主体成分为斜长橄榄岩,并依据内部的堆晶成分变化从下往上可分为五个主要的地层序列:纯橄岩→橄长岩→橄榄辉长岩→橄榄辉长苏长岩→石英辉长苏长岩以及含易变辉石的辉长岩。该地块的矿化包括铜-镍矿化、低硫型富铂族元素(PGE)矿化以及铬铁矿化等。另外,该地块也含多种非金属矿物原材料,如硼矿化、透辉石、各种镁质硅酸盐岩等。它们也包括纯橄岩、异剥橄榄岩和橄长岩,并以较高的品质产出,有望采掘加工成为建筑材料(水泥、混凝土、沥青混凝土和建筑陶瓷)。综合利用矿物原材料可增加矿床价值,并有助于建设环保型采矿工作体系。
