Mechanism of Qili Qiangxin Capsule for Heart Failure Based on miR133a-Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress

Objective:To investigate the pharmacological mechanism of Qili Qiangxin Capsule(QLQX)improvement of heart failure(HF)based on miR133a-endoplasmic reticulum stress(ERS)pathway.Methods:A left coronary artery ligation-induced HF after myocardial infarction model was used in this study.Rats were randomly assigned to the sham group,the model group,the QLQX group[0.32 g/(kg·d)],and the captopril group[2.25 mg/(kg·d)],15 rats per group,followed by 4 weeks of medication.Cardiac function such as left ventricular ejection fraction(EF),fractional shortening(FS),left ventricular systolic pressure(LVSP),left ventricular end diastolic pressure(LVEDP),the maximal rate of increase of left ventricular pressure(+dp/dt max),and the maximal rate of decrease of left ventricular pressure(–dp/dt max)were monitored by echocardiography and hemodynamics.Hematoxylin and eosin(HE)and Masson stainings were used to visualize pathological changes in myocardial tissue.The m RNA expression of mi R133a,glucose-regulated protein78(GRP78),inositol-requiring enzyme 1(IRE1),activating transcription factor 6(ATF6),X-box binding protein1(XBP1),C/EBP homologous protein(CHOP)and Caspase 12 were detected by RT-PCR.The protein expression of GRP78,p-IRE1/IRE1ratio,cleaved-ATF6,XBP1-s(the spliced form of XBP1),CHOP and Caspase 12 were detected by Western blot.Td T-mediated d UTP nick-end labeling(TUNEL)staining was used to detect the rate of apoptosis.Results:QLQX significantly improved cardiac function as evidenced by increased EF,FS,LVSP,+dp/dt max,-dp/dt max,and decreased LVEDP(Pliorated cardiac pathologic damage to some extent.Masson staining indicated that QLQX significantly reduced collagen volume fraction in myocardial tissue(P<0.01).Results from RT-PCR and Western blot showed that QLQX significantly increased the expression of mi R133a and inhibited the m RNA expressions of GRP78,IRE1,ATF6 and XBP1,as well as decreased the protein expressions of GRP78,cleaved-ATF6 and XBP1-s and decreased p-IRE1/IRE1 rati

Investigation on occupant presence and appliance operation schedules for university campus in south China sub-tropical area

Building occupant presence during varying periods is crucial to the performance studies of buildings and city regions.However,the understanding of the building occupancies on the university campus remains limited.To address this gap,our study employs field measurements,payment records,course arrangements,and building access systems to depict the occupancy patterns of the canteen,dormitory,library,and teaching and lab buildings during weekdays and weekends.We found that the occupancy rates across different buildings are somehow interrelated,given that the total number of occupants on campus is generally constant.Notably,dormitory occupancy rates tend to be low during the morning and afternoon course hours,which inversely correlates with the high occupancy rates in the teaching and lab buildings during these periods.Similarly,canteens experience surges in occupancy during meal times,which coincide with a decrease in library usage.Moreover,we established appliance operation schedules for dormitories through surveys and on-site investigations.Water dispensers and electronic devices were identified as the primary energy consumers for both male and female occupants,with desk-top fans and hairdryers being significant energy users for male and female occupants,respectively.These findings are essential for energy studies within a campus setting,underlining the importance of considering occupant behaviors on a regional scale.

Time-varying parameters estimation with adaptive neural network EKF for missile-dual control system

In this paper, a filtering method is presented to estimate time-varying parameters of a missile dual control system with tail fins and reaction jets as control variables. In this method, the long-short-term memory(LSTM) neural network is nested into the extended Kalman filter(EKF) to modify the Kalman gain such that the filtering performance is improved in the presence of large model uncertainties. To avoid the unstable network output caused by the abrupt changes of system states,an adaptive correction factor is introduced to correct the network output online. In the process of training the network, a multi-gradient descent learning mode is proposed to better fit the internal state of the system, and a rolling training is used to implement an online prediction logic. Based on the Lyapunov second method, we discuss the stability of the system, the result shows that when the training error of neural network is sufficiently small, the system is asymptotically stable. With its application to the estimation of time-varying parameters of a missile dual control system, the LSTM-EKF shows better filtering performance than the EKF and adaptive EKF(AEKF) when there exist large uncertainties in the system model.

Microbiome changes in esophageal cancer:implications for pathogenesis and prognosis

Esophageal cancer(EC)is an aggressive malignancy with a poor prognosis.Various factors,including dietary habits,and antacid and antibiotic use,have been shown to influence the esophageal microbiome.Conversely,enrichment and diversity of the esophageal microbiome can also impact its function.Recent studies have revealed prevalent changes in the esophageal microbiome among patients with EC,thus suggesting the potential contribution of the esophageal microbiome to EC development.Additionally,distinct microbiome compositions have been observed in patients with different responses to radiotherapy and chemotherapy,indicating the role of the esophageal microbiome in modulating treatment outcomes.In this review,we have examined previous studies on the esophageal microbiome in healthy individuals and patients with EC or other esophageal diseases,with a focus on identifying microbial communities associated with EC pathogenesis and prognosis.Understanding the role of the microbiome in EC may aid in early detection and optimized treatment strategies,ultimately leading to better outcomes for patients.

Distributed Harmonic Power Sharing with Voltage Distortion Suppression in Islanded Microgrids Considering Non-linear Loads

In contemporary power grids or microgrids,harmonic distortion has emerged as one of the critical power quality issues for utility power grids,which has escalated especially due to the high penetration of power-electronic-converter-interfaced distributed generation(DG).This paper first illustrates the prevalent dispute revolving around the harmonic power sharing and distortion restraint,and subsequently proposes a consensusbased framework that facilitates an accurate sharing of harmonics among multi-DGs connected in parallel,with an effective suppression of the output voltage distortion.Compared with the majority of existing studies addressing the issue of voltage harmonics at the point of common coupling(PCC),our method primarily emphasizes on the output voltage distortion since the power quality requirement for certain local critical loads is often known to be high.With the help of adaptive regulation,the overall distortion produced at the output terminals of DGs can be retained within an acceptable range.The working principle of the proposed control method,which is not only easy to implement but also independent of model parameters,is further described in detail.Employing the small-signal dynamic model,the system stability and robustness are analyzed.The hardware-in-the-loop(HIL)simulations aid in determining the outcome of the proposed strategy in microgrid control.

A regularization algorithm of dynamic light scattering for estimating the particle size distribution of dual-substance mixture in water

Dynamic light scattering(DLS)is a nondestructive,well-established technique for the size characterization of proteins,nanoparticles,polymers,and colloidal dispersions.However,current DLS techniques are only applied to particle groups of single composition due to the limitation of their inversion algorithm.In this study,we propose a particle size distribution inversion algorithm based on the Tikhnonov regularization method that can be applied to the dual-substance particle mixture.The algorithm retrieves the particle size distributions of two substances,respectively,by taking advantage of their refractive index differences.The simulation results reveal that the algorithm has excellent accuracy and stability when the scattering angle is 30°.Instead of the original identity matrix,the first-order difference matrix and second-order difference matrix are used as the regular matrix when utilizing the Tikhnonov algorithm,which obviously improves the anti-interference,accuracy,and stability of the algorithm.Furthermore,the inversion of particle size distribution is carried out at a 0.01%–1%noise level,which shows that the algorithm has an available antinoise ability.Finally,experimental particle size measurements for a mixture of polystyrene beads and toner particles demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is superior to the traditional Tikhnonov algorithm in applicability and accuracy.

A new inorganic–organic hybrid 4-Ti-added polyoxometalate:[H_(2)N(CH_(3))_(2)]_(2)Na_(3)H_(5)[{Ti(C_(2)O_(4))(H_(2)O)}_(2){Ti(C_(2)O_(4))}_(2)(B-β-SbW_(9)O_(33))_(2)]·22H_(2)O(1)has been successfully made and further characterized by infrared spectroscopy,thermogravimetric analysis,powder X-ray diff raction and single-crystal X-ray diff raction.The polyoxoanion of 1 exhibits a Krebs-type structure that is constructed from two[B-β-SbW_(9)O_(33)]^(9)−fragments fused together by a belt of four additional Ti atoms decorated by oxalate ligands.Furthermore,1 as a heterogeneous catalyst exhibits high activity for Knoevenagel condensation under mild reaction conditions.

Effects of flue gas desulfurization gypsum and clover planting on qualities of soil and winter jujube in coastal saline-alkali orchard of north China

Flue gas desulfurization gypsum and clover planting alleviated the soil salinization stress.Soil pH and total phosphorus affected the bacterial communi-ties.Total phosphorus affected the fungal communities.Flue gas desulfurization gypsum and clover planting improved jujube quality.The coastal area of Shandong Province,characterized by coastal saline tidal soil,is one of the main production areas of winter jujube in China.However,the low soil fertility and poor soil structure in jujube orchard restricted the development of the jujube industry.The objectives of this study were to 1)evaluate the effect of application of flue gas desulfurization(FGD)gypsum and clover planting on soil quality improvement and soil microbial community structure of jujube orchard;2)investigate the effects of two measures on the nutrition and quality of winter jujube.The results showed that FGD gypsum reduced the soil total salt content by 65.6%,and clover planting increased the soil organic matter content by 30.7%,which effectively alleviated the soil salinization stress and improved the soil structure.Soil pH and total phosphorus(TP)were the main determinants influencing bacterial community composition,and TP was the dominant factor of the fungal community composition in the saline-alkali soils.Meanwhile,FGD gypsum addition and clover planting significantly increased the sugar degree and Vc content of winter jujube,thus improved jujube quality,and further contributed to the ecological sustainable development of winter jujube industry.

P-aminobenzoic acid promotes retinal regeneration through activation of Ascl1a in zebrafish

The retina of zebrafish can regenerate completely after injury.M ultiple studies have demonstrated that metabolic alte rations occur during retinal damage;however to date no study has identified a link between metabolites and retinal regeneration of zebrafish.Here,we performed an unbiased metabolome sequencing in the N-methyl-D-aspartic acid-damaged retinas of zebrafish to demonstrate the metabolomic mechanism of retinal regeneration.Among the differentially-ex pressed metabolites,we found a significant decrease in p-aminobenzoic acid in the N-methyl-D-aspartic acid-damaged retinas of zebrafish.Then,we investigated the role of p-aminobenzoic acid in retinal regeneration in adult zebrafish.Impo rtantly,p-aminobenzoic acid activated Achaetescute complex-like 1a expression,thereby promoting Müller glia reprogramming and division,as well as Müller glia-derived progenitor cell proliferation.Finally,we eliminated folic acid and inflammation as downstream effectors of PABA and demonstrated that PABA had little effect on Müller glia distribution.Taken together,these findings show that PABA contributes to retinal regeneration through activation of Achaetescute complex-like 1a expression in the N-methyl-Daspartic acid-damaged retinas of zebrafish.

BACKGROUND Lymph node(LN)staging in rectal cancer(RC)affects treatment decisions and patient prognosis.For radiologists,the traditional preoperative assessment of LN metastasis(LNM)using magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)poses a challenge.AIM To explore the value of a nomogram model that combines Conventional MRI and radiomics features from the LNs of RC in assessing the preoperative metastasis of evaluable LNs.METHODS In this retrospective study,270 LNs(158 nonmetastatic,112 metastatic)were randomly split into training(n=189)and validation sets(n=81).LNs were classified based on pathology-MRI matching.Conventional MRI features[size,shape,margin,T2-weighted imaging(T2WI)appearance,and CE-T1-weighted imaging(T1WI)enhancement]were evaluated.Three radiomics models used 3D features from T1WI and T2WI images.Additionally,a nomogram model combining conventional MRI and radiomics features was developed.The model used univariate analysis and multivariable logistic regression.Evaluation employed the receiver operating characteristic curve,with DeLong test for comparing diagnostic performance.Nomogram performance was assessed using calibration and decision curve analysis.RESULTS The nomogram model outperformed conventional MRI and single radiomics models in evaluating LNM.In the training set,the nomogram model achieved an area under the curve(AUC)of 0.92,which was significantly higher than the AUCs of 0.82(Plidation set,the nomogram model achieved an AUC of 0.91,significantly surpassing 0.80(P<0.001)and 0.86(P<0.001),respectively.CONCLUSION The nomogram model showed the best performance in predicting metastasis of evaluable LNs.
