Neighborhood predictors of short sleep duration and bedtime irregularity among children in the United States: results from the 2019-2020 National Surveyof Children's Health

Background Environmental factors may contribute to short sleep duration and irregular bedtime in *** factors and children's sleep duration and bedtime regularity remain a less investigated *** aim of this study was to investigate the national and state-level proportions of children with short sleep duration and irregular bedtime and their neighborhood *** A total of 67,598 children whose parents completed the National Survey of Children's Health in 2019-2020 were included in the ***-weighted Poisson regression was used to explore the neighborhood predictors of children's short sleep duration and irregular *** The prevalence of short sleep duration and irregular bedtime among children in the United States(US)was 34.6%[95%confidence interval(CI)=33.8%-35.4%]and 16.4%(95%CI=15.6%-17.2%)in 2019-2020,*** neighborhoods,supportive neighborhoods,and neighborhoods with amenities were found to be protective factors against children's short sleep duration,with risk ratios ranging between 0.92 and 0.94,P<*** with detracting elements were associated with an increased risk of short sleep duration[risk ratio(RR)=1.06,95%CI=1.00-1.12]and irregular bedtime(RR=1.15,95%CI=1.03-1.28).Child race/ethnicity moderated the relationship between neighborhood with amenities and short *** Insufficient sleep duration and irregular bedtime were highly prevalent among US children.A favorable neighborhood environment can decrease children's risk of short sleep duration and irregular *** the neighborhood environment has implications for children's sleep health,especially for children from minority racial/ethnic groups.

New meroterpenoid compounds from the culture of mushroom Panus lecomtei

Two new meroterpenoid compounds(1 and 2) together with five known meroterpenoid derivatives(3–7) were isolated from solid culture of mushroom Panus lecomtei. The structures of new compounds were confirmed by the analysis of NMR and HRESI-MS spectroscopic data. The biosynthetic pathway of 1–7 was postulated. All isolated compounds were evaluated for antibacterial activities against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Bacillus Calmette–Gué*** 3 exhibited weak antibacterial activity against Bacillus Calmette–Guérin with the inhibition rate of 83.6% at 100 μmol·*** compounds showed no antibacterial activities against all tested pathogens at 100 μmol·L-1.

The deliberate engineering of the d-band center of metal site represents an effective strategy to boost the intrinsic electrocatalytic performance toward the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR).Herein,following a heterointerfaceinduced orbital coupling rationale,we report a judicious design of an efficient ORR electrocatalyst consisting of Fe_(3)O_(4)/CeO_(2)hetero-nanoparticles in-situ encased into N-doped carbon nanofibers(abbreviated as Fe_(3)O_(4)/CeO_(2)@N-CNFs hereafter).The theoretic calculations uncover that the Fe_(3)O_(4)/CeO_(2)heterointerface-triggered orbital coupling can cause the down shift of the d-band center positions of Fe sites,which leads to the weakened chemisorption of oxygenated groups and lowered energy barrier for the potential-determining step,ultimately dramatically boosting the ORR intrinsic *** a consequence,the well-designed Fe_(3)O_(4)/CeO_(2)@N-CNFs display admirable ORR activity with a half-wave potential of 0.84 V and outstanding structural/electrochemical stability in an alkaline electrolyte,surpassing the commercial Pt/C benchmark and a majority of recently reported Fe_(3)O_(4)-based *** encouragingly,the Fe_(3)O_(4)/CeO_(2)@N-CNFsincorporated Zn-air battery outperforms the Pt/C-assembled counterpart with higher power density,larger energy density,and excellent cycling stability,serving as a competent candidate for ORR-involved renewable energy *** study offers an innovative approach for the rational manipulation of the d-band center and interfacial electron behavior of active sites toward the optimization of electrocatalytic performance.

Molecular identification and enzymatic properties of laccase2 from the diamondback moth Plutella xylostella (Lepidoptera:Plutellidae)

Laccase（EC 1.***.3.2）is known to oxidize various aromatic and nonaromatic compounds via a radical-catalyzed reaction,which generally includes two types of laccase,Lac1 and ***1 oxidizes toxic compounds in the diet,and Lac2 is known to play an important role in melanizing the insect *** this study,we cloned and sequenced the cDNA of the diamondback moth,Plutella xylostella Lac2（PxLac2）,from the third instar larvae using polymerase chain reaction（PCR）and rapid amplification of cDNA ends *** results showed that the full-length PxLac2 cDNA was 1 944 bp long and had an open reading frame of 1 794 ***2 encoded a protein with 597 amino acids and had a molecular weight of 66.09 ***,we determined the expression levels of PxLac2 in different stages by quantitative PCR（qPCR）.The results indicated that PxLac2 was expressed differently in different *** observed the highest expression level in pupae and the lowest expression level in fourth instar *** also investigated the enzymatic properties of laccase,which had optimal activity at pH 3.0 and at 35°*** these optimal conditions,laccase had a Michaelis constant（Km）of 0.97 mmol L-1,maximal reaction speed（Vm）of 56.82 U mL-1,and activation energy（Ea）of 17.36 kJ mol-1 to oxidize2,2＇-azino-bis（3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid ammonium salt）.Type II copper enhanced laccase activity below 0.8mmol L-1 and reduced enzyme activity above 0.8 mmol L-1 with an IC50 concentration of 1.26 mmol *** study provides insights into the biological function of laccase.

Microstructure and texture evolution of the β-Mg17A12 phase in a Mg alloy with an ultra-high Al content

We report the discovery of a peculiar X-ray transient,EP240408a,by Einstein Probe （EP） and follow-up studies made with EP,Swift,NICER,GROND,ATCA and other ground-based multiwavelength *** new transient was first detected with Wide-field X-ray Telescope （WXT） on board EP on April 8th,2024,manifested in an intense yet brief X-ray flare lasting for *** flare reached a peak flux of 3.9×10-9erg cm-2s-1in 0.5-4 ke V,～300 times brighter than the underlying X-ray emission detected throughout the *** and more precise follow-up observations by EP/FXT,Swift and NICER confirmed the finding of this new *** X-ray spectrum is non-thermal in 0.5-10 ke V,with a power-law photon index varying *** X-ray light curve shows a plateau lasting for ～4 d,followed by a steep decay till becoming undetectable ～10 d after the initial *** on its temporal property and constraints from previous EP observations,an unusual timescale in the range of 7-23 d is found for EP240408a,which is intermediate between the commonly found fast and long-term *** counterparts have been found in optical and near-infrared,with the earliest observation at 17 h after the initial X-ray detection,suggestive of intrinsically weak emission in these *** demonstrate that the remarkable properties of EP240408a are inconsistent with any of the transient types known so far,by comparison with,in particular,jetted tidal disruption events,gamma-ray bursts,X-ray binaries and fast blue optical *** nature of EP240408a thus remains an *** suggest that EP240408a may represent a new type of transients with intermediate timescales of the order of～10 *** detection and follow-ups of more of such objects are essential for revealing their origin.

About 30%of the world's primary energy consumption is in *** economic losses caused by friction energy dissipation and wear account for about 2%-7%of its gross domestic product(GDP)for different countries every *** key to reducing energy consumption is to control the way of energy dissipation in the friction ***,due to many various factors affecting friction and the lack of efficient detection methods,the energy dissipation mechanism in friction is still a challenging ***,we firstly introduce the classical microscopic mechanism of friction energy dissipation,including phonon dissipation,electron dissipation,and non-contact friction energy ***,we attempt to summarize the ultrafast friction energy dissipation and introduce the high-resolution friction energy dissipation detection system,since the origin of friction energy dissipation is essentially related to the ultrafast dynamics of excited electrons and ***,the application of friction energy dissipation in representative high-end equipment is discussed,and the potential economic saving is predicted.

A Bayesian Game Approach for Demand Response Management Considering Incomplete Information

Residential flexible resource is attracting much attention in demand response(DR)for peak load *** paper proposes a scenario for multi-stage DR project to schedule energy consumption of residential communities considering the incomplete *** in the scenario can decide whether to participate in DR in each stage,but the decision is the private information that is unknown to other *** optimize the energy consumption,a Bayesian game approach is formulated,in which the probability characteristic of the decision-making of residential communities is described with Markov chain considering human behavior of bounded *** results show that the proposed approach can benefit all residential communities and power grid,but the optimization effect is slightly inferior to that in complete information game approach.
