Morphology and photocatalytic performance of nano-sized TiO_2 prepared by simple hydrothermal method with different pH values

pH value is a key factor in the preparation of nano-sized TiO2 with hydrothermal method. Using Ti（SO4）2 as the titanium source, H2O2 as the complexing agent, NaOH and HCl as the pH value regulator, nano- sized TiO2 powder with various morphologies and sizes was synthesized. Changes in morphology, size and phase type with pH values of samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD） and transmission electron micro- scopy （TEM） measurements. Results show that under the present preparation conditions, TiO2 powder is an anatase phase with pH value less than 11, but is more likely to be a brookite phase with pH value more than 11. With the increase in pH value from 1 to 11 in hydrothermal envi- ronment, nano-sized anatase TiO2 gradually grows up in all directions. {001 }, { 101 } and { 100} groups of crystal plane are the exposed crystal planes of nano-sized anatase TiO2 for the （004）, （101） and （200） facets found in high-reso- lution TEM image. The photocatalytic performance of nano-sized TiO2 with different morphologies was com- pared by measuring their photocatalytic degradation rates for methylene blue under ultraviolet light. Results show that anatase TiO2 prepared under the alkalescenthydrothermal environment （pH = 9, 11） has a better pho- tocatalytic degrading performance. Different sizes and phases of nanoscaled TiO2 powders with different photo- catalytic performances can be prepared by the control of pH value of hydrothermal solutions.

AIM:To explore the susceptible association between the insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor(IGF1 R)single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)and age-related cataract(ARC),and investigate the underlying mechanisms in human lens epithelium(HLE)***:Totally 1190 unrelated participants,comprising 690 ARC patients and 500 healthy individuals in Han Chinese population were recruited and genotyped for target ***χ2-test was used to detect genotypic distribution between the patient and control groups and the logistic regression was performed to adjust the age and ***,different biological experimental methods,such as cell counting kit 8(CCK-8)assay,flow cytometry,quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction(Q-PCR)and Western blot,were used to detect cell viability,cell cycle progression and apoptosis in HLE cells or IGF1 R knockdown HLE ***:The rs1546713 in IGF1 R gene was identified(P=0.046,OR:1.606,95%CI:1.245-2.071),which shown a significant relevance with ARC risk under the dominant *** results demonstrated that IGF1 R knockdown inhibited cell proliferation by inducing cell cycle arrested at S phase and promoting ***,the cell cycle blocked at S phase was linked with the alterations of cyclin A,cyclin B,cyclin E and *** pro-apoptosis function of IGF1 R may related with stimulating the activation of Caspase-3 and altering the expression levels of apoptotic proteins,including Bcl-2,Bax and ***:This study first report that IGF1 R polymorphisms may affect susceptibility to ARCs in Han Chinese population and provide new clues to understand the pathogenic mechanism of ***,IGF1 R is likely a potential target for ARC prevention and treatment.

China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE) is currently constructing Beijing rare ion beam facility (BRIF) and is proposing China advanced rare ion beam facility (CARIF). This paper is aiming at introducing the progress of BRIF project and the con ceptual design CARIF. The ISOL type facility BRIF under construction is composed of a 100 MeV 300 ?A proton cyclotron, an ISOL with mass resolution of 20000, and a super-conducting liNAC of 2 MeV/q, and will be commissioned in 2013. CARIF facility proposed is planned to use both ISOL and PF techniques. It is based on a China advanced research reactor CARR that was critical, with ISOL separation of fission fragment, post acceleration to 150 MeV/u, and fragmentation of neu tron-rich fission fragment beam like 132Sn. Such unique combination will allow CARIF to deliver beam intensity better than the best world facilities by more than one order of magnitude.

Metastatic human HCC model is needed for the studies on mechanism and intervention of metastatic recurrence. By using orthotopic implantation of histologically intact tissues of 30 surgical specimens, a patient-like metastatic model of human HCC in nude mice (LCI-D20) and a low metastatic model of human HCC in nude mice (LCI-D35) have been established. All mice with transplanted LCI-D20 tumors exhibited extremely high metastatic ability including spontaneous metastasis to liver, lungs, lymph nodes and peritoneal seeding. Remarkable difference was also found in expression of some of the invasiveness related genes and growth factors between the LCI-D20 and LCI-D35 tumors. PAI-1 increased gradually following tumor progression in LCI-D20 model, and correlated with tumor size and AFP level. Phasic expression of tissue intercellular adhesion molecule-1 in this model was also observed. Using corneal micropocket model, it was demonstrated that the vascular response induced by LCI-D20 tumor was stronger than that induced by LCI-D35 tumor. Similar report on metastatic human HCC model in nude mice and human HCC cell line with metastatic potential was rarely found in the literature. This LCI-D20 model has been widely used for the studies on intervention of metastasis, including anti-angiogenesis,antisense approach, metalloproteinase inhibitor, differentiation inducer, etc. It is concluded that the establishment of metastatic human HCC model in nude mice and human HCC cell line with metastatic potential will provide important models for the in vitro and in vitro study of HCC invasiveness, angiogenesis as well as intervention of HCC recurrence.

Neutron resonance imaging(NRI)has recently emerged as an appealing technique for neutron *** complexity surpasses that of conventional transmission imaging,as it requires a high demand for both a neutron source and ***,the progression of NRI technology has been sluggish since its inception in the 1980s,particularly considering the limited studies analyzing the neutron energy range above *** white neutron source(Back-n)at the China Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS)provides favorable beam conditions for the development of the NRI technique over a wide neutron energy range from eV to ***-sensitive microchannel plates(MCP)have emerged as a cutting-edge tool in the field of neutron detection owing to their high temporal and spatial resolutions,high detection efficiency,and low *** this study,we report the development of a 10B-doped MCP detector,along with its associated electronics,data processing system,and NRI experiments at the *** heavy elements such as gold,silver,tungsten,and indium can be easily identified in the transmission images by their characteristic resonance peaks in the 1–100 eV energy range;the more difficult medium-weight elements such as iron,copper,and aluminum with resonance peaks in the 1–100 keV energy range can also be *** particular,results in the neutron energy range of dozens of keV(Aluminum)are reported here for the first time.

AIM： To find out potential serum hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC）-associated proteins with low molecular weight and low abundance 13y SELDI-based serum protein spectra analysis, that will have much application in the diagnosis or differentiated diagnosis of HCC, as well as giving a better understanding of the mechanism of hepato-card nogenesis.METHODS： Total serum samples were collected with informed consent from 81 HCC patients with HBV（＋）/ cirrhosis（＋）, 36 cirrhosis patients and 43 chronic hepatitis B patients. Serum protein fingerprint profiles were first generated by selected WCX2 protein chip capture integrating with SELDI-TOF-MS, then normalized and aligned by Ciphergen SELDI Software 3.1.1 with Biomarker Wizard..Comparative analysis of the intensity of corresponding protein fingerprint peaks in normalized protein spectra, some protein peaks with significant difference between *** and cirrhosis or chronic hepatitis B were found.RESULTS： One hundred and twenty-eight serum protein peaks betweeri.2000 and 30000Da were identified under the condition of signal-to-noise 〉 5 and minimum threshold for cluster 〉 20%. Eighty-seven of these proteins were showed significant differences in intensity between HCC and cirrhosis （P 〈 0.05）. Of the above differential proteins, 45 proteins had changes greater than two-fold, including 15 upregulated proteins and 30 downregulated proteins i.n HCC serum. Between HCC and chronic hepatitis B, 9 of 52 differential proteins （P 〈 0.05） had intensities of more than two-fold, including 2 upregulated proteins and 7 downregulated proteins in HCC serum. Between cirrhosis and chronic hepatitis B, 28 of 79 significant differential proteins （P 〈 0.05） changes greater than two-fold in intensity, including 17 upregulated proteins and 11 downregulated proteins in cirrhosis serum. The newly discovered ternary chalcogenide superconductor Bi_(2)Rh_(3)Se_(2) has attracted growing attention,which provides an opportunity to explore the interplay between charge density wave(CDW)order and ***,whether the phase transition around 240 K can be attributed to the formation of CDW remains *** help resolve the debate,we study the electronic structure of Bi_(2)Rh_(3)Se_(2) by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy,focusing on the nature of its high-temperature phase transition around 240 *** measurements demonstrate that the phase transition at 240 K is a second-order CDW phase *** results reveal(i)a 2×2 CDW order in Bi_(2)Rh_(3)Se_(2),accompanied by the reconstruction of electronic structure,such as band folding,band splitting,and opening of CDW gaps at and away from the Fermi level;(ii)the existence of electron-boson coupling,which is manifested as an apparent kink and peak-dip-hump structure in *** observations thus enable us to shed light on the nature of CDW order and superconductivity in Bi_(2)Rh_(3)Se_(2).

Somatic embryogenesis(SE) plays a vital role in genetic transformation and massive propagation of important agronomical and economical ***,we conducted a systematic assessment of the morphological,cytochemical,and cytogenetical characteristics of six culture strains with various embryogenic/regenerative potential during SE process in *** indicated that the six cell culture strains had stable ploidy levels,and did not reveal any relationship between the cytogenetic state and their morphogenetic ***,the six culture strains were compared via double staining with Evans blue and Acetocarmine to efficiently distinguish embryogenic and non-embryogenic cells and determine the embryogenic nature of the *** addition,the kind of auxins added in medium affected not only growth property,color,size of cell clumps but also ploidy level and regeneration *** combining analysis of morphological,cytochemical,and cytogenetical characteristics of the cell cultures,we are able to obtain and maintain homogeneous cell population with high morphogenic and regeneration ability and establish efficient somatic embryogenesis and regeneration system from short-term cell cultures in upland cotton,which highlight the application of biotechnological approaches in crop breeding,and above all,to better understand totipotency of cells in higher plants.
