Improvement of mechanical properties and investigation of strengthening mechanisms on the Ti_(3)AlC_(2) ceramic with nanosized WC addition

Ti_(3)AlC_(2) (TAC) has great potential for use as an ablation material in aerospace applications due to its great oxidation/ablation resistance, but its high-temperature strength and thermal shock resistance still have much room for simultaneous improvement under fast temperature variation conditions. Herein, we used Ti_(3)AlC_(2) and WC powders as raw materials and successfully fabricated textured (Ti,W)_(3)AlC_(2) ceramic with small amounts of TiC and Al_(2)O_(3), and room temperature mechanical properties such as flexural strength (1146±46.9 MPa), fracture toughness (11.78±0.44 MPa·m^(1/2)), and hardness (5.81±0.11 GPa) at 5 wt% WC addition were achieved. The high-temperature strength of the ceramic was significantly improved, and better thermal shock resistance from 298 to 1173 K was simultaneously acquired together with the regulation of the elastic modulus, thermal conductivity, and thermal expansion coefficient, providing (Ti,W)_(3)AlC_(2) with more possibilities for fast-temperature variation applications. Strengthening and toughening mechanisms were proposed. Scanning transmission electron microscopy high-angle annular dark-field imaging (STEM-HADDF) showed that W randomly replaced the Ti1 and Ti2 sites of Ti_(3)AlC_(2), providing a good reference for establishing crystal models, and further density functional theory (DFT) calculations based on these models indicated a higher fracture energy of (Ti,W)_(3)AlC_(2) along different crystal planes, providing superior resistance to transgranular fracture;a lower mismatch degree of (Ti,W)_(3)AlC_(2)/Al_(2)O_(3) resulted in stronger interface bonding, resulting in greater resistance to intergranular fracture as well as more balanced stress distributions at different interfaces.

Surfactants are widely used in the fracturing fluid to enhance the imbibition and thus the oil recovery rate. However, current numerical models cannot capture the physics behind capillary imbibition during the wettability alteration by surfactants. Although the interacting capillary bundle(ICB) model shows potential in characterizing imbibition rates in different pores during wettability alteration, the existing ICB models neglect the influence of wettability and viscosity ratio on the imbibition behavior, making it difficult to accurately describe the oil-water imbibition behavior within the porous media. In this work,a new ICB mathematical model is established by introducing pressure balance without assuming the position of the leading front to comprehensively describe the imbibition behavior in a porous medium under different conditions, including gas-liquid spontaneous imbibition and oil-water *** the pore size distribution of a tight rock is known, this new model can predict the changes of water saturation during the displacement process in the tight rock, and also determine the imbibition rate in pores of different sizes. The water saturation profiles obtained from the new model are validated against the waterflooding simulation results from the CMG, while the imbibition rates calculated by the model are validated against the experimental observations of gas-liquid spontaneous imbibition. The good match above indicates the newly proposed model can show the water saturation profile at a macroscopic scale while capture the underlying physics of the multiphase flow in a porous medium at a microscopic scale. Simulation results obtained from this model indicate that both wettability and viscosity ratio can affect the sequence of fluid imbibition into pores of different sizes during the multiphase flow, where less-viscous wetting fluid is preferentially imbibed into larger pores while more-viscous wetting fluid tends to be imbibed into smaller pores. Perovskite solar cells(PSCs)emerge as the most promising photovoltaics(PV)for their high performance and potential convenient cost-effective production routes comparing to the sophomore PV *** printed PSCs with simplified device architecture and fabrication procedures could further enhance the competitive strength of PSC *** this work,we present an in-situ defect passivation(ISDP)assisted full-printing of high performance formamidine-lead bromide(FAPbBr_(3))*** three rapid printing steps are involved for electron transporting layer(ETL),perovskite and carbon to form a complete solar cell on the low-cost fluorine-doped tin oxide(FTO)***-chain polymer monomethyl ether polyethylene glycol is particularly utilized as the ISDP passivator,leading to conformal coating on the rough FTO and defect passivation for both ETL and perovskite during printing.A high efficiency of 10.85%(certified 10.14%)and a high V_(oc)up to 1.57 V are achieved for the printed *** unencapsulated PSCs maintain above 90%of the initial efficiency after continuously heating at 85℃for 1000 h and over 80%of the efficiency after the maximum power point tracking for 3500 *** fully printed semitransparent PSCs with carbon grids(CGs)show average visible light transmittance over 33%and an efficiency of 8.81%.

In this work,we report observations of three comets:38P/Stephan-Oterma,64P/Swift-Gehrels,and C/2017 M4(ATLAS),conducted with the Nanshan one-meter wide-field telescope in 2018 August and November,and *** extracted morphological features through image enhancement techniques and calculated the dust activity parameter,Afρ,along with dust mass loss rates and coma color indices using broadband photometric *** morphological analysis uncovered a spectrum of dust characteristics among the observed comets,ranging from a significant twisted structure in comet 38P/Stephan-Oterma’s coma to the regular coma envelope surrounding comet 64P/*** Afρvalues varied between 148.8±0.3 cm for 64P/Swift-Gehrels and1118.5±6.2 cm for C/2017 M4(ATLAS)(measured within a reference aperture radius ofρ=6″),indicating a range from moderate to high activity *** mass loss rates were estimated from 328.1 kg s^(-1)for comet 64P/Swift-Gehrels to 1395.5 kg s^(-1)for comet C/2017 M4(ATLAS).The color indices of comets 38P/Stephan-Oterma and C/2017 M4(ATLAS)closely resemble the average colors of active short-period comets and active longperiod comets,*** contrast,64P/Swift-Gehrels exhibits a significantly bluer hue than typical Jupiter family comets.

Seed development is critical for plant reproduction and crop yield,with panicle seed-setting rate,grain-filling,and grain weight being key seed characteristics for yield ***,few genes are known to regulate grain ***,we identify two adenosine triphosphate(ATP)-binding cassette(ABC)I-type transporter genes,OsABCI15 and OsABCI16,involved in rice *** genes are highly expressed in developing seeds,and their proteins are localized to the plasma membrane and ***,knockout of OsABCI15 and OsABCI16 results in a significant reduction in seed-setting rate,caused predominantly by the severe empty pericarp phenotype,which differs from the previously reported low seed-setting phenotype resulting from failed *** analysis indicates that OsABCI15 and OsABCI16 participate in ion homeostasis and likely export ions between filial tissues and maternal tissues during grain ***,overexpression of OsABCI15 and OsABCI16 enhances the seed-setting rate and grain yield in transgenic plants and decreases ion accumulation in brown ***,the OsABCI15/16 orthologues in maize exhibit a similar role in kernel development,as demonstrated by their disruption in transgenic ***,ourﬁndings reveal the important roles of two ABC transporters in cereal grain filling,highlighting their value in crop yield improvement.

Multi-resonance thermally activated delayed fluorescence(MR-TADF)materials are promising candidates for organic light-emitting diodes(OleDs)with narrow electroluminescence(EL)*** researches focus on fabricating hyperfluorescence OleDs to improve EL efficiencies of MR-TADF emitters by co-doping them with TADF sensitizers in a single host ***,in many cases,the polarity of the single host could be not suitable for both blue MRTADF emitters and blue TADF sensitizers,resulting in broadened EL spectra in high-polar hosts or decreased EL efficiencies in low-polar ***,we wish to report an efficient sensitization strategy for blue MR-TADF emitters by constructing an interlayer-sensitizing configuration,in which the blue TADF sensitizers and blue MR-TADF emitters are separated into two closely aligned host layers with high polarity and low polarity,*** on this strategy,efficient blue hyperfluorescence OleDs are realized and verified by employing various TADF sensitizers and different MR-TADF emitters,furnishing outstanding external quantum efficiencies of up to 38.8%and narrow EL *** results validate the feasibility and universality of this interlayer sensitization strategy,which provides an effective alternative to high-performance blue hyperfluorescence OleDs.

Ferritic/martensitic(F/M)steel is widely used as a structural material in thermal and nuclear power ***,it is susceptible to intergranular damage,which is a critical issue,under service *** this study,to improve the resistance to intergranular damage of F/M steel,a thermomechanical process(TMP)was employed to achieve a grain boundary engineering(GBE)microstructure in F/M steel *** TMP,including cold-rolling thickness reduction of 6%,9%,and 12%,followed by austenitization at 1323 K for 40 min and tempering at 1053 K for 45 min,was applied to the as-received(AR)P92 *** prior austenite grain(PAG)size,prior austenite grain boundary character distribution(GBCD),and connectivity of prior austenite grain boundaries(PAGBs)were *** to the AR specimen,the PAG size did not change *** fraction of coincident site lattice boundaries(CSLBs,3≤Σ≤29)and Σ3^(n) boundaries along PAGBs decreased with increasing reduction ratio because the recrystallization fraction increased with increasing reduction *** PAGB connectivity of the 6%deformed specimen slightly deteriorated compared with that of the AR ***,potentiodynamic polarization studies revealed that the intergranular damage resistance of the studied steel could be improved by increasing the fraction of CSLBs along the PAGBs,indicating that the TMP,which involves low deformation,could enhance the intergranular damage resistance.
