Isolation of protein from Chlorella sorokiniana CY1 using liquid biphasic flotation assisted with sonication through sugaring-out effect

Microalgae,a sustainable source of multi beneficial components has been discovered and could be utilised in pharmaceutical,bioenergy and food *** study aims to investigate the sugaring-out effect on the recovery of protein from wet green microalga,Chlorella sorokiniana CY1 which was assisted with sonication.A comparison of monosaccharides and disaccharides as one of the phaseforming constituents shows that the monosaccharides,glucose was the most suitable sugar in forming the phases with acetonitrile to enhance the production of protein(52% of protein).The protein productivity of microalgae was found to be significantly influenced by the volume ratio of both phases,as the yield of protein increased to 77%.The interval time between the sonication as well as the sonication modes were influencing the protein productivity as *** optimum protein productivity was obtained with 10s of resting time in between *** mode of sonication was suitable to break down the cell wall of microalgae compared to continuous mode as a lower protein yield was obtained with the application of continuous *** optimum condition for protein extraction were found as followed:200g/L glucose as bottom phase with volume ratio of 1:1.25,10s of resting time for ultrasonication,5s of ultrasonication in pulse mode and 0.25g of biomass *** high yield of protein about 81% could be obtained from microalgae which demonstrates the potential of this source and expected to play an important role in the future.

Biochar-Bacillus consortium for a sustainable agriculture:physicochemical and soil stability analyses

Biochar has various agricultural applications,including the promising use as a carrier for beneficial ***,most recent research has demonstrated the possible attachment or immobilization of a single bacterial species onto biochar rather than a consortium of microbes for biotechnological ***,an assessment on the potential of oil palm kernel shell(OPKS)biochar as a biofilm-producing Bacillus consortium carrier through optimization study on the operating and environmental factors influencing the biofilm adhesion was conducted using response surface methodology(RSM)and the subsequent soil stability and storage potential of the *** highest Bacillus population was observed at temperature 33°C,agitation speed of 135 rpm,at a neutral pH of 7.5 with 10%(w/w)of sago starch as the co-carbon *** adhesion of Bacillus on OPKS biochar following the optimized conditions fitted pseudo-second order(PSO)of kinetic modelling(R^(2)=0.998).The optimized formulation was subjected to storage in different temperatures and in vitro soil incubation which revealed that the Bacillus biofilmadhered OPKS biochar may be stored up to 4 months with minimum range of live Bacillus viability reaching 107 CFU g^(-1) of biochar which is within the minimum range of acceptable biofertilizer viability(10^(6) CFU mL^(-1)).Formulation that is viable in room storage can be easily incorporated into current agricultural distribution networks that do not have *** work highlighted the physicochemical and soil stability qualities of optimized Bacillus consortium adhesion on biochar for agricultural usage.

Various prctreatments methods including sonication and grinding were perfonned on red seaweed Gelidium amansii for the subsequent extraction ofagarose. The agarose products are usually extracted from agar powder products from seaweeds. In this study, the agarose was extracted using a direct polyethylene glycol （PEG） method without the need to first process the agar from seaweed. The agar extract was frozen then thawed and mixed directly with PEG solution to precipitate the agarose. The quality of agarose obtained was evaluated through physico-chemical properties analysis which includes spectral technique （FTIR）, melting and boiling point, gel strength and sulfate content. These properties were compared with a non-pretreated sample and it was found that the addition of pretreatment steps improved the quality of agarosc but gave a slightly lower yield. The gel strength of pretreated samples was much higher and the sulfate content was lower compared to non-pretreated samples. The best pretreatment method was sonication which gave gel strength of 742 gcm - and sulfate content of 0.63%. The extraction of agarose can be further improved with the use of different neutralizing agents. Pretreating the seaweed shows potential in improving the quality of agarosc from seaweed and can be applied for thture extraction of the agarose.

Microstructural evolution of a steam-turbine rotor subjected to a water-quenching process: numerical simulation and experimental verification

Cr-Ni-Mo-V steam-turbine rotors have been widely used as key components in power plants. In this study, a coupled thermomechano-metallurgical model was proposed to simulate the phase transformation and transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) of a 30Cr2Ni4MoV steam-turbine rotor during a water-quenching process, which was solved using a user defined material mechanical behavior (UMAT) subroutine in ABAQUS. The thermal dilation, heat generation from plastic work, transformation latent heat, phase transformation kinetics, and TRIP were considered in the model. The thermomechanical portion of the model was used to predict the evolution of temperature, strain, and residual stress in the rotor. The phase transformation that occurred during the quenching process was considered. Constitutive models of phase transformations (austenite to pearlite, austenite to bainite, and austenite to martensite) and TRIP were developed. Experimental data were adopted and compared with the predicted results to verify the accuracy of the model. This demonstrates that the model is reliable and accurate. Then, the model was utilized to predict the temperature variation, dimensional change, minimum austenitization time, residual stress, TRIP, and volume fractions of each phase. It is concluded that this model can be a useful computational tool in the design of heat-treatment routines of steam-turbine rotors.

Interwrapping Distinct Metal-Organic Frameworks in DualMOFs for the Creation of Unique Composite Catalysts

Additive Maps Preserving Similarity of Operators on Banach Spaces

Let X be an infinite-dimensional complex Banach space and denote by B（X） the algebra of all bounded linear operators acting on X. It is shown that a surjective additive map Φ from B（X） onto itself preserves similarity in both directions if and only if there exist a scalar c, a bounded invertible linear or conjugate linear operator A and a similarity invariant additive functional ψ on B（X） such that either Φ（T） = cATA^-1 ＋ ψ（T）I for all T, or Φ（T） = cAT＊A^-1 ＋ ψ（T）I for all T. In the case where X has infinite multiplicity, in particular, when X is an infinite-dimensional Hilbert space, the above similarity invariant additive functional ψ is always zero.
