Insights from untargeted metabolomics: revealing potential marker compounds into the maturation of fermented chili

Chili fermentation is one of the most important processes in the production of Pixian Douban (PXDB)， which determines the flavor and product quality of PXDB. However， the maturity of fermented chili mainly depends on empirical judgment， which can not satisfy the need for standardized production of PXDB. Therefore， this study aimed to investigate volatile and non-volatile substances during the maturation process and to find markers related to the maturity of fermented chili. GC×GC-MS combined with multivariate statistical analysis revealed that 2-methoxy-3-isobutyl pyrazine， linalool， 3-(methylthio)propionaldehyde， myrcene， and decanal (ROAV ≥ 1， VIP > 1， P linalool， and decanal) along with fructose and adenosine could serve as markers for evaluating the maturity of chili. This study is expected to establish a standard for the determination of maturity the fermented chili and lay the foundation for intelligent production of PXDB.

The nonlinear forced vibrations of a cantilevered pipe conveying fluid under base excitations are explored by means of the full nonlinear equation of motion, and the fourth- order Runge-Kutta integration algorithm is used as a numerical tool to solve the discretized equations. The self-excited vibration is briefly discussed first, focusing on the effect of flow velocity on the stability and post-flutter dynamical behavior of the pipe system with parameters close to those in previous experiments. Then, the nonlinear forced vibrations are examined using several concrete examples by means of frequency response diagrams and phase-plane plots. It shows that, at low flow velocity, the resonant amplitude near the first-mode natural frequency is larger than its counterpart near the second-mode natural frequency. The second-mode frequency response curve clearly displays a softening-type behavior with hysteresis phenomenon, while the first-mode frequency response curve almost maintains its neutrality. At moderate flow velocity, interestingly, the first-mode resonance response diminishes and the hysteresis phenomenon of the second-mode response disappears. At high flow velocity beyond the flutter threshold, the frequency response curve would exhibit a quenching-like behavior. When the excitation frequency is increased through the quenching point, the response of the pipe may shift from quasiperiodic to periodic. The results obtained in the present work highlight the dramatic influence of internal fluid flow on the nonlinear forced vibrations of slender Pipes.

Acid mine drainage presents an important threat to cementitious *** study is aimed at investigating the effect of cellulose nanocrystals(CNCs)on the acid resistance of cementitious *** were added to mortar mixtures as additives at cement volume ratios of 0.2vol%,0.4vol%,1.0vol%,and 1.5vol%.After 28 d of standard curing,the samples were immersed in a sulfuric acid with a pH value of 2 for 75 *** unconfined compressive strength(UCS)test,the density,water absorption,void volume test,and thermogravimetric analysis were carried out to investigate the properties of CNC mixtures before sulfuric acid *** was found that the addition of CNC reduced the volume of permeable voids and increased the hydration degree and mechanical strength of the *** in mass and length were monitored during immersion to evaluate the acid resistance of *** mixture with 0.4vol%CNC showed a reduced mass change and length change indicating its improved acid resistance.

The arrangement of DNA-based nanostructures into the desired large-scale periodic pattern with the highest possible accuracy and control is essential for the DNA application in functional biomaterials;however, formation of a DNA nanostructure pattern without utilizing the molecular interactions in nanotechnology field remains difficult. In this article, we use the optimal concentration and adsorption time of origami to induce DNA origami in the form of a large-scale 2D pattern on mica without changing the origami itself. DNA origami structures can form a pattern by close packing of symmetric and electrostatic interactions between ions, which was confirmed by the atomic force microscopy images. Furthermore, we identified favorable conditions for the concentration of enable pattern formation with DNA origami. This work provides an insight to understand the adsorption of DNA on mica and guides researches on regular DNA nanostructure pattern, which can serve as templates for pattern formation of proteins or other biomolecules.

This study investigated the neuroprotective effect of Yiqi Bushen prescription （YQBS, supplementing qi and tonifying kidney） on neuronal cell apoptosis. Following YQBS treatment, the number of surviving hippocampal neurons increased, anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 expression increased and pro-apoptotic Bax expression decreased. In addition, diabetic rats exhibited improved learning and memory. YQBS treatment also increased Bcl-2 mRNA expression and the ratio of Bcl-2/Bax, but decreased levels of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α mRNA and Bax mRNA expression after high-glucose/hypoxia-induced injury. Results demonstrated that YQBS inhibited hippocampal neuronal apoptosis by decreasing hypoxia-inducible factor-1α expression and increasing Bcl-2 expression, thereby improving cognitive impairment in diabetic rats.

With the help of an improvement Monte Carlo method, the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless phase transition arising in two-dimensional planar rotator model with weak Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya （DM） interaction is investigated. The effects of the DM interaction on specific heat, susceptibility, and magnetization are simulated. The critical temperature of transitions is determined by the so-called Binder cumulant and the susceptibility of finite-size scaling. We find that the chiral Z2 symmetry reduced by the DM interactions plays an important role in a two-dimensional XY spin system, typically, the critical temperature is sensitive to weak DM spin couplings.

In order to develop a catalyst with high activity for catalytic wet oxidation （CWO） process at room temperature and atmospheric pressure, Fe2O3-CeO2-TiO2/γ-Al2O3 catalyst was prepared by consecutive impregnation method and the prepared parameters were optimized. The structure of the catalyst was characterized by BET, XRF, SEM and XPS technologies, and the actual wastewater was used to investigate the catalytic activity of Fe2O3-CeO2-TiO2/γ-Al2O3 in CWO process. The experimental results showed that the prepared catalyst exhibited good catalytic activity when the doping amount of Ti was 1.0 wt% （the weight ratio of Ti to carriers）, and the middle product, Fe2O3-CeO2-TiO2/γ-Al2O3, was calcined in 450℃ for 2 h. The CWO experiment for treating actual dye wastewater indicated that the COD, color and TOC of actual wastewater were decreased by 62.23%, 50.12% and 41.26% in 3 h, respectively, and the ratio of BOD5/COD was increased from 0.19 to 0.30.

Phytoplankton pigment pattern in the subsurface chlorophyll maximum in the South Java coastal upwelling system, Indonesia

Upwelling occurs on the coast of Java between June and October, forced by local alongshore winds associated with the southeasterly monsoon. This causes variations in phytoplankton community composition in the upwelling zone compared with the surrounding offshore area. Based on pigments analysis with subsequent calculations of group contributions to total chlorophyll a(Chl a) using CHEMTAX, we studied the distribution and composition of phytoplankton assemblages in the subsurface chlorophyll maximum along the south coast of Java and the influence of upwelling. Nineteen phytoplankton pigments were identified using high-performance liquid chromatography, and CHEMTAX analysis associated these to ten major phytoplankton groups. The phytoplankton community in the coastal area influenced by upwelling was characterized by high Chl a and fucoxanthin concentrations, indicating the dominance of diatoms. In contrast, in the offshore area, the Chl a and fucoxanthin concentrations declined to very low levels and the community was dominated by haptophytes represented by 19′-Hexanoyloxyfucoxanthin. Accordingly, microphytoplankton was found to be the major size class in the coastal area influenced by upwelling, while nanophytoplankton was most abundant in the offshore area. Low concentrations of other accessory pigments indicated less contribution from dinoflagellates,prasinophytes, chlorophytes and cryptophytes. Photo-pigment indices revealed that photosynthetic carotenoids(PSCs) were the largest component of the pigment pool, exceeding the proportion of Chl a, with the average PSCTP up to 0.62. These distribution trends can mainly be explained by phytoplankton adaption strategies to upwelling and subsurface conditions by changing species composition and adjusting the pigment pool.
