In recent years, Galium aparine L. has not been controlled by tribenuron-methyl in major Chinese winter wheat fields. The objective of this study is to understand the molecular basis of the resistance mechanism to tribenuron-methyl in G. aparine and to find the specific mutation sites in amino acid sequence of acetolactate synthase （ALS） in the resistant biotype of G. aparine. Fragments that encode the ALS were amplified and cloned from susceptible （S） and resistant （R） biotypes of G. aparine to tribenuron-methyl and sequenced subsequently. The result showed that the nucleotide sequence of Rbiotype of G. aparine differed from that of the S biotype with three amino acid substitutions, of which, the amino acid substitution of Trp57-4 （TGG） to Gly （GGG） is located in the highly conserved region Domain B. The substitution of Trp574 might be responsible for the resistance to tribenuron-methyl in the R-biotype of G. aparine.

Epigenetic mechanisms are integral to plant growth, development, and adaptation to environmental stimuli. Over the past two decades,our comprehension of these complex regulatory processes has expanded remarkably, producing a substantial body of knowledge on both locus-specific mechanisms and genome-wide regulatory patterns. Studies initially grounded in the model plant Arabidopsis have been broadened to encompass a diverse array of crop species, revealing the multifaceted roles of epigenetics in physiological and agronomic traits. With recent technological advancements, epigenetic regulations at the single-cell level and at the large-scale population level are emerging as new focuses. This review offers an in-depth synthesis of the diverse epigenetic regulations, detailing the catalytic machinery and regulatory functions. It delves into the intricate interplay among various epigenetic elements and their collective influence on the modulation of crop traits. Furthermore, it examines recent breakthroughs in technologies for epigenetic modifications and their integration into strategies for crop improvement. The review underscores the transformative potential of epigenetic strategies in bolstering crop performance, advocating for the development of efficient tools to fully exploit the agricultural benefits of epigenetic insights.

We successfully fabricate high-entropy alloys and amorphous alloy composites by adopting the proposed ultrasonic vibration *** low-stress,low-temperature method enables us to create composites that combine both amorphous and crystalline *** observations and computed tomography measurements indicate good bonding quality without pores or cracks in the *** to the unique structure which mixes soft and rigid phases,the composite exhibits improved mechanical performance compared to that obtained from a pure single *** results are promising for the manual design and fabrication of smart materials containing multiple phases and compositions.

Turbulent flows past hill and curved ducts exist in many engineering applications. Simulations of the turbulent flow arc carried out based on a newly developed technique, the Partially-Averaged Navier-Stokes （PANS） model, including separation, recirculation, reattachment, turbulent vortex mechanism. The focus is on how to accurately predict typical separating, reattaching and secondary motion at a reasonable computational expense. The effect of the parameter, the unresolved-to-total ratio of kinetic energy （ fk ）, is examined with a given unresolved-to-total ratio of dissipation （ fE ） for the hill flow with a much coarser grid system than required by the LES. An optimal value of fk can be obtained to predict the separation and reattachment locations and for more accurate simulation of the resolved turbulence. In addition, the turbulent secondary motions are captured by a smaller fi as compared with the RANS method with the same grid.

Probing Intermittent Motion of Polymer Chains in Weakly Attractive Nanocomposites

In this study,we investigate the motion of polymer segments in polymer/nanoparticle composites by varying nanoparticle(NP)volume *** studying the probability distribution of segment displacement,segment trajectory,and the square displacement of segment,we find the intermittent motion of segments,accompanied with the coexistence of slow and fast segments in polymer nanocomposites(PNCs).The displacement distribution of segments exhibits an exponential tail,rather than a Gaussian *** intermittent dynamics of chain segments is comprised of a long-range jump motion and a short-range localized motion,which is mediated by the weakly attractive interaction between NP and chain segment and the strong confinement induced by ***,the intermittent motion of chain segments can be described by the adsorption-desorption transition at low particle loading and confinement effect at high particle *** findings may provide important information for understanding the anomalous motion of polymer chains in the presence of NPs.

Recyclable polymers offer a great opportunity to address the environmental issues of ***,functionalization of recyclable polymers,poly((R)-3,4-trans six-membered ring-fused GBL)(P((R)-M)),were reported via end-group modifications and block/random ***-n-butylmagnesium was selected to catalyze ring-opening polymerization(ROP)of(R)-M in the presence of a series of functional alcohols as the ***/random copolymerizations of(R)-M andε-caprolactone(ε-CL),L-lactide(L-LA)and trimethylene carbonate(TMC)were performed to control the onset decomposition temperature(T_(d)),melting temperature(T_(m))and glass transition temperature(T_(g)).These functionalized recyclable polymers would find broad applications as the sustainable plastics.

Cloning and functional analysis of a novel ascorbate peroxidase(APX) gene from Anthurium andraeanum

An 888-bp ful-length ascorbate peroxidase （APX） complementary DNA （cDNA） gene was cloned from Anthurium andraeanum, and designated as AnAPX. It contains a 110-bp 5′-noncoding region, a 28-bp 3′-noncoding region, and a 750-bp open reading frame （ORF）. This protein is hydrophilic with an aliphatic index of 81.64 and its structure consisting ofα-helixes,β-turns, and random coils. The AnAPX protein showed 93%, 87%, 87%, 87%, and 86% similarities to the APX homologs from Zantedeschia aethiopica, Vitis pseudoreticulata, Gossypium hirsutum, Elaeis guineensis, and Zea mays, respectively. AnAPX gene transcript was measured non-significantly in roots, stems, leaves, spathes, and spadices by real-time polymerase chain reaction （RT-PCR） analysis. Interestingly, this gene expression was remarkably up-regulated in response to a cold stress under 6 °C, implying that AnAPX might play an important role in A. andraeanum tolerance to cold stress. To confirm this function we overexpressed AnAPX in tobacco plants by transformation with an AnAPX expression construct driven by CaMV 35S promoter. The transformed tobacco seedlings under 4 °C showed less electrolyte leakage （EL） and malondialdehyde （MDA） content than the control. The content of MDA was correlated with chilling tolerance in these transgenic plants. These results show that AnAPX can prevent the chilling challenged plant from cellmembrane damage and ultimately enhance the plant cold tolerance.
