Cerebral ischemia is a major health risk that requires preventive approaches in addition to drug *** exercise enhances neurogenesis and synaptogenesis,and has been widely used for functional rehabilitation after *** this study,we determined whether exercise training before disease onset can alleviate the severity of cerebral *** also examined the role of exercise-induced circulating factors in these *** mice were subjected to 14 days of treadmill exercise training before surgery for middle cerebral artery *** found that this exercise pre-conditioning strategy effectively attenuated brain infarct area,inhibited gliogenesis,protected synaptic proteins,and improved novel object and spatial memory *** analysis showed that circulating adiponectin plays a critical role in these preventive effects of *** activation of adiponectin receptors by Adipo Ron mimicked the effects of exercise,while inhibiting receptor activation abolished the exercise *** summary,our results suggest a crucial role of circulating adiponectin in the effects of exercise pre-conditioning in protecting against cerebral ischemia and supporting the health benefits of exercise.

Decision making module based on stochastic magnetic tunnel junctions

In biological neural systems, noise is ubiquitous but does not affect the correct decisions made in the complex cognitive ***-making in biological neural system is typically achieved by accumulating input information over a period of *** by recent developments in neurosciences, we design a decision-making module based on spintronic devices, utilizing superparamagnetic tunnel junctions as artificial neurons. The feasibility of this decision-making module is verified through circuit simulations. Taking a multi-layer perceptron as an example, the module significantly improves the accuracy of the perceptron in the handwritten digit recognition task. Furthermore, the spintronic decision-making module offers advantages over the conventional pooling methods, such as adaptive decision time, high performance and the absence of analog-to-digital conversion. The decision-making module is flexible to be integrated into artificial neural networks and provides a general yet effective solution to enhance performance against device noise.

Defects-rich heterointerfaces integrated with adjustable crystalline phases and atom vacancies,as well as veiled dielectric-responsive character,are instrumental in electromagnetic *** methods,however,constrain their delicate ***,an innovative alternative is proposed:carrageenan-assistant cations-regulated(CACR)strategy,which induces a series of sulfides nanoparticles rooted in situ on the surface of carbon *** unique configuration originates from strategic vacancy formation energy of sulfides and strong sulfides-carbon support interaction,benefiting the delicate construction of defects-rich heterostructures in M_(x)S_(y)/carbon composites(M-CAs).Impressively,these generated sulfur vacancies are firstly found to strengthen electron accumulation/consumption ability at heterointerfaces and,simultaneously,induct local asymmetry of electronic structure to evoke large dipole moment,ultimately leading to polarization coupling,i.e.,defect-type interfacial ***“Janus effect”(Janus effect means versatility,as in the Greek two-headed Janus)of interfacial sulfur vacancies is intuitively confirmed by both theoretical and experimental investigations for the first ***,the sulfur vacancies-rich heterostructured Co/Ni-CAs displays broad absorption bandwidth of 6.76 GHz at only 1.8 mm,compared to sulfur vacancies-free CAs without any dielectric *** defects-rich heterostructures,this one-pot CACR strategy may steer the design and development of advanced nanomaterials,boosting functionality across diverse application domains beyond electromagnetic response.

Effect of Progressive Substitution of Cement and lime by Powdered Shells Used as a Curing Agent for Dredged Soil in a Port Area

This study aimed to address the challenges of solid waste utilization,cost reduction,and carbon reduction in the treatment of deep-dredged soil at Xuwei Port in liany.ngang city of *** research in this area was ***,a curing agent made from powdered shells was used to solidify the dredged soil in *** employed laboratory orthogonal tests to investigate the physical and mechanical properties of the powdered shell-based curing *** was collected by conducting experiments to assess the role of powdered shells in the curing process and to determine the optimal ratios of powdered shells to solidified soil for different *** development of strength in solidified soil was studied in both seawater and pure water *** study revealed that the strength of the solidified soil was influenced by the substitution rate of powdered shells and their interaction with *** cement content had a positive effect on *** high-strength solidified soil,the recommended ratio of wet soil:cement:lime:powdered shells were 100:16:4:4,while for low-strength solidified soil,the recommended ratio was 100:5.4:2.4:***,under appropriate conditions,improved short-term strength by promoting the formation of expansive ettringite minerals that contributed to cementation and *** findings suggest that the combination of cement and powdered shells is synergistic,positively affecting the strength of solidified *** recommended ratios provide practical guidance for achieving desired strength levels while considering factors such as cost and carbon *** role of seawater in enhancing short-term strength through crystal formation is noteworthy and can be advantageous for certain *** conclusion,this research demonstrates the potential of using a powdered shell-based curing agent for solidify.ng dredged soil in an environmentally friendly and cost-effective *** recommended ratios for different str

Compressive properties of a novel slurry-infiltrated fiber concrete reinforced with arc-shaped steel fibers

Slurry-infiltrated fiber concrete(SIFCON)is a sort of strain hardening cement-based composite material,typically made with 5%–20%steel *** study focused on a novel type of SIFCON in which hooked-end steel fibers were replaced by arc-shaped steel *** quasi-static compressive properties of the SIFCON were first *** results suggested that using arc-shaped steel fibers in lieu of hooked-end steel fibers increased the quasi-static compressive strength by 47.1%and the strain at peak stress by 56.3%.We attribute these improvements to new crack-resisting mechanisms,namely“fiber crosslock”,“dual bridging”,and“confinement loops”,when the arc-shaped steel fibers are introduced into *** high impact resistance is a special property of SIFCON that is of practical significance,the dynamic compressive properties of arc-shaped steel fiber SIFCON were studied by using an 80-mm-diameter split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB).The results showed that the dynamic compressive strength,dynamic increase factor(DIF),and dynamic toughness of SIFCON all increased with the strain *** SIFCON incorporating arc-shaped steel fibers proved to have significant advantages in structural applications requiring high impact resistance.

Dramatical enhancement of circular dichroism in chiral hybrid perovskites via carboxylic hydrogen bond engineering

Chiral hybrid perovskites （CHPs） have been regarded as promising candidates for developing chiroptoelectronics ***,circular dichroism （CD）,as one of the most important characteristics to evaluate the chiroptical activity,remains at a comparatively low level in CHPs compared to other chiral materials,which hinders the successful applications of CHPs in stateof-the-art ***,exploring new methods for enhancing CD in CHPs is urgently needed and remains ***,enhanced CD response has been successfully realized via constructing carboxylic hydrogen bonding in chiralachiral mixed cations perovskites （R/S-PPA）2（ABA）PbBr5（2R/2S）(PPA=1-phenylpropylamine,ABA=4-aminobutyric acid).Compared with the prototype （R/S-PPA）PbBr3（1R/1S）,2R/2S provide intimate connections between organic units and inorganic parts via carboxylic hydrogen bonding N–H···O bridge,contributing new chirality transfer paths.A larger inorganic skeletons’helicity in 2R/2S predicts a high degree of chirality ***,2R/2S exhibit significantly enhanced CD response with an anisotropy factor amplified by an order of ***,bright blue circularly polarized luminescence applications are achieved in 2R/*** work systematically investigates the correlation between CD and hydrogen bonding interaction in CHPs,meanwhile providing a new avenue to develop the application potential of chiral materials in chiroptoelectronics.

Introducing saturated carbon-carbon bonds into organic molecules significantly increases the three-dimensional configuration,thus altering the physical and chemical properties as well as the functions of molecules. Transition-metal-catalyzed carboncarbon cross-couplings represent one of the most straightforward, efficient and modular alternatives to build saturation in a single step. However, the efficient construction of alkyl-alkyl bonds remains a formidable challenge due to the precise manipulation of multiple alkyl metallic intermediates as well as associated competitive side reactions and selectivity control. Over the past years, Ni-catalyzed cross-coupling under reductive conditions has gained more and more attention for alkyl-alkyl crosscoupling partially attributing to the low-valent state of metal centers under reducing conditions, which suppresses the competitive β-hydride elimination process, thus facilitating the formation of alkyl-alkyl bonds. In this review, the initiative and progress of Ni-catalyzed cross-electrophile alkyl-alkyl cross-coupling, including the efforts in racemic and enantioselective formation of alkyl-alkyl bonds, have been summarized and discussed. Moreover, the challenges and further opportunities in this area have also been discussed.
