Pd cluster decorated free standing flexible cathode for high performance li-oxygen batteries

As a promising candidate for the next generation energy storage system,rechargeable lithium-oxygen batteries(LOBs)still face substantial challenges caused by insulating discharge products that preclude their practical *** highly efficient cathode catalysts capable of facilitating formation/decomposition of discharge products is considered as an essential approach towards high performance ***,Pd decorated Te nanowires(Pd@Te NWs)were synthesized as advanced catalyst in LOBs to maximize Pd utilization and achieve synergistic effect,in which Pd clusters were uniformly grown on Te substrate though regulating the Pd:Te ***,Pd@Te nanowires assembled into an interpenetrating network-like structure by vacuum filtration and employed as flexible cathode,enabling LOBs achieved an ultralong 190 cycles stability and a superior specific capacity of 3.35 mAh·cm^(-2).Experimental studies and density functional theory(DFT)calculations reveal the excellent catalytic ability of Pd@Te and synergistic catalytic mechanism of Pd and Te,in which uniform electron distribution,extensive electron exchange,and large adsorption distance between Pd cluster and discharge products promote homogeneous adsorption/desorption of discharge products,while the high adsorption energy of Te substrate for li species reduces the initial dynamical energy barrier during discharging *** current work provides viable strategy to design composite catalysts for flexible cathode of LOBs with synergistic catalytic effects.

Tomographic particle image velocimetry measurement on three-dimensional swirling flow in dual-stage counter-rotating swirler

Three-Dimensional(3D)swirling flow structures,generated by a counter-rotating dualstage swirler in a confined chamber with a confinement ratio of 1.53,were experimentally investigated at Re=2.3×10^(5)using Tomographic Particle Image Velocimetry(Tomo-PIV)and planar Particle Image Velocimetry(PIV).Based on the analysis of the 3D time-averaged swirling flow structures and 3D Proper Orthogonal Decomposition(POD)of the Tomo-PIV data,typical coherent flow structures,including the Corner Recirculation Zone(CRZ),Central Recirculation Zone(CTRZ),and lip Recirculation Zone(LRZ),were *** counter-rotating dual-stage swirler with a Venturi flare generates the independence process of vortex breakdown from the main stage and pilot stage,leading to the formation of an LRZ and a smaller CTRZ near the nozzle *** confinement squeezes the CRZ to the corner and causes a reverse rotation flow to limit the shape of the CTRZ.A large-scale flow structure caused by the main stage features an explosive breakup,flapping,and Precessing Vortex Core(PVC).The explosive breakup mode dominates the swirling flow structures owing to the expansion and construction of the main jet,whereas the flapping mode is related to the wake *** limits the expansion of PVC and causes it to contract after the impacting area.

Wettability-driven synergistic resistance of scale and oil on robust superamphiphobic coating

Disgusting deposits(e.g.,scale and crude oil)in daily life and industrial production are always serious problems,posing great threats to the safety and economic ***,most of developed coatings can only conquer one part of these deposits such as superhydrophobic coatings possess antiscaling capacity but would adhere crude *** integrate scale resistance with oil repellence,we herein report a robust superamphiphobic(SAB)coating simultaneously reducing pollution of scale and oil for extended period of time(two weeks with over 98%reduction).Compared with single role of superhydrophobic and amphiphilic surfaces,the SAB coating can not only inhibit interfacial nucleation of scale but also reduce the adhesion of formed scale and polluted *** durability of the SAB coating is evaluated via mechanical tests(sandpaper abrasion,tape stripping and sand falling)and chemical corrosion(corrosive liquid immersing),revealed by sustainable high contact angles and low contact angle hysteresis of water and *** universality of this strategy can be further confirmed by adding different particles like kaolin,Al_(2)O_(3),and SiO_(2),resisting multiple types of scale(i.e.,CaSO_(4),BaSO_(4)and MgCO_(3))and oil(i.e.,glycerol,glycol,and mineral oil).Therefore,this study provides an ideal avenue for resisting scale and oil,which may be used for conquering the complexity of application environments(e.g.,oil production and transportation).

The alloy-type material Sb is widely used in the anode materials of lithium-ion batteries(liBs)due to its high theoretical specific ***,its serious volume expansion problem during alloying/dealloying of li~+limits its practical *** this work,C-Sb composite was constructed as anode material of liBs by electrospinning route for the first time,Sb was introduced into the polyacrylonitrile-based hard carbon and coal tar pitch-based soft carbon composite amorphous carbon fiber with a diameter of 300-600 nm,which realized high cycling *** C-Sb-2(the mass ratio of polyacrylonitrile to Sb source is 1:2)electrode displayed charge capacities of 1098.5,930.3,841.7,753.5,643.9 and 545.8 mAh·g^(-1)at 0.1,0.2,0.3,0.5,1 and 2 A·g^(-1),*** when the current density returned to 0.1 A·g^(-1),the charge capacity was 939.3 mAh·g^(-1),revealing good stability and *** introduction of Sb into the amorphous carbon improved its conductivity and addressed the volume expansion issue of high specific capacity Sb during charge/***-situ XRD analysis confirmed the high reversibility of the C-Sb-2 during charging and *** functional theory(DFT)calculations revealed the gradual enhancement of the interface interaction between Sb_(x)li_(y) and amorphous carbon(AMC)with increasing lithium content,contributing to the anchoring of alloy nanoparticles on the AMC surface and buffering the volume change of the ***,the gradual lithiation of Sb facilitated the electron transfer from Sb_(x)li_(y) to *** findings hold promise for designing lithium storage materials with exceptional performance,highlighting the potential of C-Sb composites as anode materials for efficient next-generation lithium storage.

Metal-insulator-metal(MIM)cavity as a lithography-free structure to control light transmission and reflection has great potential in the field of optical ***,the dense top metal layer of the MIM prohibits any external medium from entering the dielectric insulation layer,which limits the application of the cavity in the sensing ***,we demonstrate a series of monolithic metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)based MIM cavities,which are treated by plasma etching to provide channels for chemical diffusion and to advance *** modulate the bandwidth of the MIM filters by controlling the MOF thickness as insulator *** plasma-etching is applied to build channels on the top metal layer without altering their saturation and brightness for chemical sensing *** etching time regulates the number and size of channels on the top metal *** behavior is demonstrated on the plasma-etched MOFs-based MIM cavity when external chemicals diffuse in the *** addition,we generate patterned structure of the MOFs-based MIM cavity via plasma-mask method,which can transfer to different substrates and produce a controllable structure color change for chemical *** MIM cavity may promote the advancement and applications of structural color in security imaging,color display,information anticounterfeiting,and color printing.

Dual-additives enable stable electrode-electrolyte interfaces for long life li-SPAN batteries

Sulfurized polyacrylonitrile(SPAN)is proposed as a promising cathode material for lithium sulfur ***,the continuous side reactions at the electrolyte-electrode interfaces as well as the slow redox kinetics of SPAN cathode deteriorate the electrochemical *** this study,an electrolyte with dual-additives comprising 2-fluoropyridine(2-FP)and lithium difluorobis(oxalato)phosphate(liDFBOP)was used to improve the performance of li||SPAN cells.2-FP has a lower lowest occupied molecular orbital energy than that of the solvents in the electrolyte,leading to its prior reduction.A liF-rich film can be formed on the electrode,effectively improving the stability of the electrolyte-electrode interfaces and prolonging the ***,liDFBOP could form an electrolyte-electrode interface film containing a large amount of li_(x)PO_(y)F_(z) species,compensating for the kinetic deterioration caused by the lower ionic conductive of liF formed at the electrolyte-electrode ***,an electrode-interface film with good chemical stability and high li^(+) transport was established by liF and li_(x)PO_(y)F_(z)-rich *** li||SPAN cell with the electrolyte containing dual-additives demonstrates an excellent capacity retention of 97.5%after 200 cycles at 1.0 C,25℃,comparing to 56.2%capacity retention without ***,the rate capacities of cells with dual-additives can reach 1128.1 mAh/g at 5 C,comparing to only 813.5 mAh/g using electrolyte without *** results shown that the dual-additives in electrolyte provide a promising strategy for practical application of lithium sulfur batteries with SPAN cathodes.

About 2 percent of red clump stars are found to be the lithium-rich and thus the surface lithium increases obviously in some red clump *** physical mechanism of the lithium enrichment in these stars has not yet been explained satisfactorily by the evolutionary models of single *** flash induced internal gravity wave mixing(i.e.,IGW)could play a primary role in explaining the red clump star with lithium enrichment and it has a very significant impact on the internal structure and surface compositions of a *** can significantly increase the mixing efficiency of the internal gravity wave because the timescale for the enrichment event has been *** mixing can explain the observed behavior of lithium on red giant stars that are more luminosity than the RGB ***,it has a very small effect on the diffusion of elements because its diffusion coefficient is much smaller than the one of IGW induced mixing after the core helium flash.

The Middle and Late Holocene climate change in Bohai Bay revealed by diatom proxy

A total of 98 samples from two boreholes in shallow sea area and two oyster reefs in adjacent coastal plain in the northwestern coast of Bohai Bay were collected for diatom analyses and species *** ratio of the marine species Thalassionema nitzschioides to the intertidal-coastal species complex Cyclotella striata/stylorum serves as a novel proxy for assessing the strength of marine *** data,corrected for the local residence time effect,facilitated the construction of a diatom proxy-based marine influence curve for the study *** curve delineates the dynamics of marine influence and their correlations with paleo-climate fluctuations and the East Asian monsoon variability,as well as their role in chenier *** include:(1)eight periods of intensified marine influence have been documented since 7000 a BP in the study *** peak of each period,as determined by the diatom proxy,corresponds closely to the warm climatic phases and stronger East Asian summer monsoons,suggesting that the peaks marine influence indicate typically the periods of climatic warmth and monsoon activity intensification in the region;(2)a strong correlation exists between the development of cheniers and marine influence,and chenier formation began with the increasing marine influence and terminated at the end of warm periods as marine influence *** climatic changes in the coastal area,as indicated by the diatom proxy,hold significant potential for future related research endeavors.

Data-driven evacuation and rescue traffic optimization with rescue contraflow control

In response to local sudden disasters,e.g.,high-rise office or residential building fire disasters,road occupation can cause conflicts,and traffic directions may be opposite between evacuation vehicles and rescue vehicles;moreover,lane contraflow can be adopted to meet these surge traffic ***,lane contraflow that provides more roads for rescue vehicles reduces the traffic supply in the evacuation *** is unclear how to control the number of contraflow roads used by rescue vehicles to coordinate evacuation and rescue traffic ***,we adjust the critical rescue traffic volume of reversing the normal road traffic direction to control rescue ***,we propose a multiobjective mixed integer linear programming formulation for evacuation and rescue traffic ***,considering that the upper limit of the critical rescue traffic volume is unknown and that the proposed formulation includes multiple objectives and multi-priority vehicle classes,a three-stage solving algorithm is ***,a large-scale evacuation and rescue traffic optimization result dataset is obtained for the Nguyen–Dupuis road network,and the impact of different rescue contraflow control plans on evacuation and rescue traffic is studied based on data-driven sta-tistical *** results show that by adjusting the optimal rescue traffic route,the critical rescue traffic volume for reversing the normal road traffic direction can reduce the interference of rescue traffic to evacuation traffic operation performance without reducing rescue traffic operation performance,and can be used to coor-dinate evacuation and rescue traffic operation under rescue contraflow.

In this paper,Let M_(n)denote the maximum of logarithmic general error distribution with parameter v≥***-order expansions for distributions of powered extremes M_(n)^(p)are derived under an optimal choice of normalizing *** is shown that M_(n)^(p),when v=1,converges to the Frechet extreme value distribution at the rate of 1/n,and if v>1 then M_(n)^(p)converges to the Gumbel extreme value distribution at the rate of(loglogn)^(2)=(log n)^(1-1/v).
