Clinical outcomes of early weight-bearing after arthroscopic microfracture during the treatment of osteochondral lesions of the talus

Background The time until weight-bearing after arthroscopic microfracture when treating osteochondral lesions of the talus （OLT） is very important to the clinical outcomes of the ***,there have been no consistent opinions regarding the optimal time to start weight-bearing *** opinions advocate that weight-bearing should begin not earlier than the sixth or eighth week postoperatively,whereas others point out that earlier weight-bearing could also obtain satisfactory *** purpose of our study was to evaluate the clinical outcomes of early weight-bearing after arthroscopic microfracture during the treatment of *** Fifty-eight ankles in 58 patients with a single OLT ＜2 cm2 were retrospectively *** lesions were treated with arthroscopic debridement and microfracture under local *** the operation,the patients were allowed to bear full weight under the protection of figure-8-shaped *** visual analog scale （VAS） for pain and the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society （AOFAS） ankle—hindfoot scale were evaluated preoperatively and at six postoperative timepoints （1st day,1st month,3rd month,6th month,12th month,and 24th month）.Patients were followed up for 24-52 months （mean （34.97±7.33） months）.Results All 58 patients achieved excellent recovery with significant relief of their *** VAS score decreased from 7.31±1.0 preoperatively to 0.95±0.76 at the 24th month follow-up （P=0.000）,whereas the AOFAS score improved from 53.53±8.57 preoperatively to 87.62±5.42 at the 24th month follow-up （P=0.000）.Conclusion The successful clinical outcomes of this study demonstrated that early weight-bearing after the treatment of OLT with arthroscopic microfracture can be allowed.

Background:The purpose of our study was to study the composition and content of the feline plasma metabolome revealing the critical metabolites and metabolic pathways associated with age during growth and ***:Blood samples were collected from juvenile and adult groups for blood routine tests and serum biochemistry ***-targeted metabolomics analyses of plasma were also performed to investigate changes in metabolites and metabolic ***:In this study,we found that the red blood cell counts,liver function indexes(albumin and gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase),and the concentration of triglyceride and glucose changed significant with growth and *** metabolomics results revealed that 1427 metabolites were identified in the plasma of young and adult *** of these metabolites belong to major classes of lipids and lipid-like *** most obvious age-related metabolites include reduced levels of chenodeoxycholate,taurocholate,cholate,and taurochenodeoxycholate but increased levels of L-cysteine and taurocyamine in the adult cat's *** metabolites are mainly involved in the primary bile acid biosynthesis pathway,the bile secretion pathway,and the taurine and hypotaurine metabolism ***:This study revealed many age-related metabolite alterations in the feline *** age-varying metabolites,especially in the bile acid biosynthesis and secretion metabolism pathways,indicate that the regulation of these pathways is involved in the growth and development of *** study promotes our understanding of the mechanism of feline growth and provides new insights into nutrition and medicine for cats of different ages.

MRF based construction of statistical operator and its application

Based on the Markov random field (MRF) theory, a new nonlinear operator isdefined according to the statistical information in the image, and the corresponding 2Dnonlinear wavelet transform is also provided. It is proved that many detail coefficientsbeing zero (or almost zero) in the smooth gray-level variation areas can be achievedunder the conditional probability density function in MRF model, which shows that thisoperator is suitable for the task of image compression, especially for lossless codingapplications. Experimental results using several test images indicate good performancesof the proposed method with the smaller entropy for the compound and smooth medicalimages with respect to the other nonlinear transform methods based on median andmorphological operator and some well-known linear lifting wavelet transform methods(5/3, 9/7, and S+P).

Vertical distribution of nutrient tracers in the western Arctic Ocean and its relationship to water structure and biogeochemical processes

During the 3rd Chinese National Arctic Research Expedition cruise in the summer of 2008,nutrients(NO3^-,NO2^-,SiO3^2-,and PO4^3-)and dissolved oxygen were measured in the western Arctic Ocean,to derive the vertical distribution of nutrient tracers and its relationship to water structure and biogeochemical *** nutrient data show that surface waters had the lowest NO3^-/PO4^3-(mean of 0.5)and SiO3^2-/PO3^-(mean of 2.8)values in the water column,suggesting an excess of *** Bering Shelf water(wBSW)had high Si^*(16.7μmol/L;Si^*=[Si(OH)4]–[NO3^-])with negative N^*(−11.7μmol/L;N^*=[PO4^3-]−16[PO4^3-]+3.5μmol/L)in the water column,indicating nitrate *** warm Atlantic layer had positive N^*(0.8μmol/L)and negative Si^*(−5.4μmol/L)compared with Pacific source *** vertical distribution of nutrients indicates that wBSW can be characterized by N^* minimum and Si^* *** contrast,minima of Si^* and SiO3^2-/PO4^3- below 200 m indicate the distribution of Atlantic warm water.

Inorganic Carbon Parameters Responding to Summer Hypoxia Outside the Changjiang Estuary and the Related Implications

The eutrophication, hypoxia and coastal acidification are attracting more and more attention. In this study, inorganic carbon parameters, including dissolved inorganic carbon （DIC）, total alkalinity （TA） and calculated partial pressure of CO2 （pCO2）, obtained from a summer cruise in August, 2009, were used to investigate their integrated response to biological processes accompanying the oxygen depletion in the areas off the Changjiang Estuary. According to the observations, the typical hypoxia occurred in the bottom water just outside the Changjiang Estuary with Dissolved Oxygen （DO） lower than 2.00 mg L^-1. The biological uptake in the surface water and the decomposition of organic matter in the bottom water were fully coupled with each other. The high concentration of Chl_a （Chl_a = 10.9μgL^-1） and DO （9.25 mgL^-1）, profoundly decreased DIC concentration 0828 μmolkg^-1） and elevated pH （8.42） was observed in the surface water. The correspondingly increased DIC and depletion of oxygen were observed in the bottom water. The semi-quantitative analysis proved that the locally-produced phytoplankton, determined by primary productivity, was deposited to the bottom and contributed about 76% of total amount of the organic carbon decomposition in the bottom. However, in the bottom hypoxia （DO = 2.05 mgL^-1） area observed in the Southern Zhejiang coastal water, the responding patterns of inorganic carbon parameters deviated from the previous one. The expanding of Changjiang Diluted Water （CDW）, the adding of Hangzhou Bay water （with high DIC concentration） and Coastal Current together modify the DIC background value in this area, and the local degeneration and upwelling process may also help to offset the local DIC removed by net biological uptake in surface water. Influence of herbal cake-partitioned moxibustion on lumbar functions and inflammatory factors in patients with lumbar disc herniation due to kidney deficiency and blood stasis

Distribution and Sources of Organic Matter in Surface Sediments of the Northern Bering and Chukchi Seas by Using Bulk and Tetraether Proxies

The organic matter (OM) preserved in Arctic Ocean sediments is of great importance to the global carbon budget. How-ever, works that apply multiple proxies to determine the distribution and concentration of organic carbon (OC) in the surface sedi-ments of the northern Bering and Chukchi Seas remain limited. Here a multiproxy approach based on bulk OM parameters and the branched vs. isoprenoid tetraether (BIT) index was used to investigate the distribution and sources of OM in the surface sediments of the northern Bering and Chukchi Seas. Binary and ternary mixing models were applied to trace the contribution of different OC sources to the total OC in the study area. The δ13C values of the sediments provided by the binary model showed that the proportion of terrestrial OC fell in the range of 27.4%–79.8% (46.2% on average). The BIT index returned the lowest fraction (4.8%–27.3%, 12.0% on average). The ternary mixing model was employed to determine the plant-, soil-, and marine-derived fractions of the total OM. The ternary model showed that 11.5%±6.3%, 31.4%±9.5%, and 57.1%±12.4% of OM in the sediment of the study area was derived from soil, plants, and marine sources, respectively. The differences in OM composition between the west and east sides of the Chukchi Sea were controlled by OM inputs from key water masses (i.e., Anadyr Water and Alaska Coastal Water), river discharge, and the nutrient supply from the Pacific inflow that supports marine productivity.
