Objective To investigate the correlation between the serum resistin level and carotid artery atherosclerosis in elderly Chinese males. Methods The study enrolled 235 elderly Chinese males [median age 76 （range 60-97） years] scheduled for ultrasound examination of carotid artery plaque and determination of carotid artery intima-media thickness （CIMT）. They were divided into carotid atherosclerotic plaque （CAP） and carotid atherosclerotic plaque-free （CAP-free） groups according to the ultrasound results. Their clinical profiles were col-lected, and the serum resistin and other blood biochemistry levels were *** The CAP group was older and had a thicker mean CIMT than the CAP-free group. However, there was no difference in the serum resistin level between the groups. CIMT was positively correlated with age （r = 0.299,P〈 0.001）. The serum resistin level was not correlated with CIMT, even after controlling for age. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that age （β = 0.001,P〈 0.001） and body mass index （β = 0.002,P= 0.015） were significantly and posi-tively correlated with the mean CIMT. Only age [odds ratio （OR）： 1.159; 95% confidence interval （CI）： 1.078-1.183,P〈 0.001] was associ-ated with the presence of carotid artery atherosclerotic plaque. The serum resistin level was not correlated with the mean CIMT or associated with the presence of carotid artery atherosclerotic *** The results suggest that resistin might not be a risk factor for atherosclerosis in elderly Chinese males.

The adsorption of zinc and cyanide from cyanide effluents onto strong and weak basic anion exchange re sins was studied in a batch adsorption system. Factors influencing the adsorption rates such as resin selection, resin amounts, contact time and temperature were studied and scanning electron microscopyenergy disperse spectrosco py（SEMEDS） was used in the analysis. The present study shows that the adsorption capacity of resin 201 x7 is better than that of resin 301. The adsorption process was relatively fast and came to equilibrium after 60 min. The kinetic data were analyzed with three models and the pseudosecondorder kinetic model was found to agree with the expe rimental data well. The equilibrium data could also be described well by Langmuir isotherm model. Thermodynamic parameters such as enthalpy change（AH0）, free energy change（AG0） and entropy change（AS0） were calculated and the adsorption process was spontaneous and endothermic.

Nitrate uptake characteristics and ammonium effects on nitrate uptake were compared between upland rice （Brazilian upland rice） and paddy rice （Wuyujing 3 and Yangdao 6） through the glass microelectrode technique and the concentration gradient method of uptake *** indicated that nitrate uptake by rice seedlings and ammonium effects were depending on membrane potential of root *** upland rice and paddy rice presented obviously different *** all cultivars,the nitrate treatments induced rapid depolarization and then slow repolarization of membrane potential in root epidermal cells,and even hyperpolarization was observed when nitrate concentration was *** membrane potential of epidermal cells in Brazilian upland rice roots was larger and its response to NO3- was bigger than those of two paddy rice *** of membrane potential was amplified when ammonium was simultaneously added with nitrate into the measure medium,but repolarization was reduced,even *** upland rice seedlings had high Vmax of nitrate uptake and low Km,furthermore,Vmax and Km were little affected by ammonium,but Vmax of Wuyujing 3 was reduced ***,inhibition of NH4＋ differed obviously between upland rice and paddy rice.

目的采用等离子喷涂工艺(APS)在C_f/SiC复合材料表面制备金属涂层。方法在对比等离子喷涂Mo粉、NiCrBSi粉以及自制的Ti70Ni20Cu10复合粉末三种涂层的组织形貌和界面结合的基础上,制备了Mo-10%Ti复合涂层,喷涂用粉为通过低速球磨方法在大颗粒的Mo粉表面包覆TiH_2粉末而得,喷涂时将基体预热至700℃,在氩气保护气氛下进行喷涂。结果 APS制备的Mo-10Ti涂层,组织致密均匀,孔隙率较低,无明显裂纹。涂层与基体结合紧密,没有发生剥离现象,结合强度超过6.3 MPa,断裂发生于基体侧。结论材料的热膨胀系数和润湿性是影响等离子喷涂金属涂层与C_f/SiC复合材料结合的关键因素,所设计的Mo-Ti复合涂层较好地兼顾了这两点。

Rheumatic heart disease is still highly prevalent in .developing countries where the incidence of coronaryartery disease （CAD） is also arising. Consequently the occurrence of coexistent CAD and mitral stenosis （MS） dominantly caused by rheumatic fever is more frequent in these countries. Comorbidities such as pulmonary and renal dysfunction occur frequently in these aging populations. Off-pump surgery is widely applied in patients with concomitant CAD and severe comorbidities due to lower incidence of postoperative morbidity. Closed mitral commissurotomy （CMC） is a well established treatment for patients with mitral stenosis. We report here a case of moderate stenosis combined with seriously diffuse 3-vessel CAD and severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease （COPD） in an elder male treated with off-pump coronary artery bypass （OPCAB） plus CMC.

以SO_(4)^(2-),Cl^(-)与Mg^(2+)作为主要离子模拟工厂中实际恶劣化学腐蚀环境,开展现场暴露试验及室内模拟试验.研究了不同浸泡方式、水胶质量比、腐蚀溶液质量分数及干湿周期对混凝土劣化影响,采用超声波检测分析混凝土劣化程度.结果表明:在多盐耦合作用下,混凝土的损伤层厚度随腐蚀时间持续增加且速度逐渐减小.腐蚀前期Cl^(-)与SO_(4)^(2-)先进行反应,混凝土内外浓度差较大,腐蚀速度快;腐蚀中期镁盐参与腐蚀,导致缺陷再发展,但浓度差减小,腐蚀速度放缓.基于试验结果提出损伤发展模型,得出室内模拟试验腐蚀1.37 d相当于现场半浸泡试验腐蚀1 d,结果较为准确.

Mammalian hair, as a key feature related to endothermy, physical protection, and camouflage, has a long geohistorical record that dates back even to the Mesozoic. However, the limited information on the taphonomy of hair hinders the understanding of its evolutionary significance in deep time. To address this, we conducted taphonomic experiments to simulate the transformation process of black hair. The changes in the morphological structure, microscopic characteristics, and chemical composition of hair during the simulated fossilization process were documented by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. Our results revealed that damage to the morphology of hair began at a mild temperature(150–175°C), and hair transformed into a fluid-like mass at a relatively high temperature(200°C). In addition, the morphological structure of melanosomes had relatively greater preservation potential than keratins did, and the microscopic features of melanosomes were persistently stable. The Raman and FTIR spectra indicated that the characteristic melanin and keratin peaks changed as the temperature increased. Although the chemical signals were not lost completely, the variations in the characteristic amide bands in the FTIR spectra indicate that the keratins severely degraded at high temperatures(>200°C), whereas the characteristic melanin bands in the Raman spectra suggested that melanin signals were still recognizable, even at high temperatures(>200°C). These results were confirmed by principal component analysis(PCA) and principal component analysis linear discriminant analysis(PCA–LDA). In addition, the Raman signals of all the samples in the simulated experiments were distinguished from the signals of common geological carbonaceous materials(humic acid), which suggested that Raman spectroscopy can be used to detect melanin in fossils.

OBJECTIVE The greatest challenge in chemotherapy of ischemic stroke is the construction a suitable delivery system to overcome the poor physicochemical properties of drug and its low permeability across the blood brain barrier(BBB).METHODS In the present study,dendrimer,polyamidoamine(PAMAM),was synthesized as the nano-drug ***-2,which has been proved excellent ability to cross the BBB,was exploited as the targeting ligand to conjugate PAMAM via bifunctional polyethylene glycol(PEG).Then scutellarin(STA)was encapsulated into the functionalized nanoparticles(NPs)to formulate Angiopep-2 modified STA-loaded PEG-PAMAM *** stroke model was established to evaluate the treatment efficacy and protective mechanism of Angiopep-2-STA-PEG-PAMAM *** The pharmacokinetics and biodistribu-tion demonstrated that Angiopep-2-STA-PEG-PAMAM NPs exhibited significantly higher plasma concentration from 1 h to 10 h after intravenous administration and improve accumulation in brain(4.7-fold)compared with STA ***,prolonged elimination half-life(4.8-fold)and lower clearance(3.4-fold)were *** brain uptake study of 6-coumarin confirmed that Angiopep-2-PEG-PAMAM NPs possessed better brain targeting efficacy(3.2-fold)than PEG-PAMAM ***-2-STA-PEG-PAMAM NPs obviously ameliorated infarct volume,neurological deficit,histopathological severity and neuronal *** addition,Angiopep-2-STA-PEG-PAMAM NPs markedly inhibited the calcium content and the levels of IL-12p40,IL-13,IL-17 and ***,Angiopep-2-STA-PEG-PAMAM NPs significantly decreased the m RNA and protein expressions of HMGB1,TLR2,TLR4,TLR5,My D88,TRIF,TRAM,IRAK-4,TRAF6,IкBα,IKKβand NF-к*** The results suggested that Angiopep-2modified scutellarin-loaded PEG-PAMAM nanocarriers possessed remarkable neuroprotective effects on ischemic stroke through modulation of inflammatory cascades and HMGB1/TLRs/MyD 88-induced NF-κB activation pathways.
