In situ plasmonic & electrochemical fiber-optic sensor for multi-metal-ions detection

High precision and high throughput detection of heavy metal ions is essential for water quality monitoring and ***,we propose a plasmonic & electrochemical dual-mode fiber sensing probe for label-free and real-time detection of multiple ions(Pb2+and Cu2+as examples).This sensor comprises a multimode fiber-single mode fiber reflection probe,the outer surface of which is coated with a gold nanofilm to excite the surface plasmon resonance(SPR) optically and simultaneously serves as an electrochemical working *** traditional electrochemical detection,the enrichment of ions cannot be detected in ***,by utilizing the plasmonic & electrochemical dual-mode detection method,various kinds of metal ions can be deposited onto the gold nanofilm and selectively oxidized during forward potential scanning,and the entire electrochemical process can be monitored by SPR *** experimentally demonstrate that the sensor can simultaneously detect Pb2+and Cu2+in a mixed solution in real-time,providing a linear response over the ion concentration range from 10-12to 10-7M and offering an excellent detection limit(1.69×10-14–5.49×10-13M).The proposed dual-mode fiber sensor has the benefits of remote sensing,compact footprint,and cost-effectiveness and shows excellent potential for water quality risk management in difficult-to-reach environments.

Aspirin suppresses hepatocellular carcinoma progression by inhibiting platelet activity

China is among the top nitrous oxide（N2O）-emitting countries, but existing national inventories do not provide full-scale emissions including both natural and anthropogenic sources. We conducted a four-decade（1980–2020） of comprehensive quantification of Chinese N2O inventory using empirical emission factor method for anthropogenic sources and two up-to-date process-based models for natural sources. Total N2O emissions peaked at 2287.4（1774.8–2799.9） Gg N2O yr-1in 2018, and agriculture-developed regions, like the East, Northeast, and Central, were the top N2O-emitting regions. Agricultural N2O emissions have started to decrease after 2016 due to the decline of nitrogen fertilization applications, while, industrial and energetic sources have been dramatically increasing after 2005. N2O emissions from agriculture, industry,energy, and waste represented 49.3%, 26.4%, 17.5%, and 6.7% of the anthropogenic emissions in 2020,respectively, which revealed that it is imperative to prioritize N2O emission mitigation in agriculture,industry, and energy. Natural N2O sources, dominated by forests, have been steadily growing from 317.3（290.3–344.1） Gg N2O yr-1in 1980 to 376.2（335.5–407.2） Gg N2O yr-1in 2020. Our study produces a Full-scale Annual N2O dataset in China（FAN2020）, providing emergent counting to refine the current national N2O inventories.

Effect of Chinese Medicine in Patients with COVID-19: A Multi-center Retrospective Cohort Study

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Chinese medicine(CM) in the treatment of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) in China. Methods: A multi-center retrospective cohort study was carried out, with cumulative CM treatment period of 3 days during hospitalization as exposure. Data came from consecutive inpatients from December 19, 2019 to May 16, 2020 in 4 medical centers in Wuhan, China. After data extraction, verification and cleaning, confounding factors were adjusted by inverse probability of treatment weighting(IPTW), and the Cox proportional hazards regression model was used for statistical analysis. Results:A total of 2,272 COVID-19 patients were included. There were 1,684 patients in the CM group and 588 patients in the control group. Compared with the control group, the hazard ratio(HR) for the deterioration rate in the CM group was 0.52 [95% confidence interval(CI): 0.41 to 0.64, Plity in the CM group was 0.29(95% CI: 0.19 to 0.44, Pliver function or renal function in the CM group was smaller. Conclusion: This real-world study indicates that the combination of a full-course CM therapy on the basic conventional treatment, may safely reduce the deterioration rate and all-cause mortality of COVID-19patients. This result can provide the new evidence to support the current treatment of COVID-19. Additional prospective clinical trial is needed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of specific CM interventions.(Registration No. ChiCTR2200062917)

Lattice engineering and distortion have been considered one kind of effective strategies for discovering advanced *** instinct chemical flexibility of high-entropy oxides(HEOs)motivates/accelerates to tailor the target properties through phase transformations and lattice ***,a hybrid knowledge-assisted data-driven machine learning(ML)strategy is utilized to discover the A_(2)B_(2)O_(7)-type HEOs with low thermal conductivity(κ)through 17 rare-earth(RE=Sc,Y,La-Lu)solutes optimized A-site.A designing routine integrating the ML and high throughput first principles has been proposed to predict the key physical parameter(KPPs)correlated to the targetedκof advanced *** the smart-designed 6188(5RE_(0.2))_(2)Zr_(2)O_(7)HEOs,the best candidates are addressed and validated by the princi-ples of severe lattice distortion and local phase transformation,which effectively reduceκby the strong multi-phonon scattering and weak interatomic ***,(Sc_(0.2)Y_(0.2)La_(0.2)Ce_(0.2)Pr_(0.2))_(2)Zr_(2)O_(7)with predictedκbelow 1.59 Wm^(−1)K^(−1)is selected to be verified,which matches well with the ex-perimentalκ=1.69 Wm^(−1)K^(−1)at 300 K and could be further decreased to 0.14 Wm^(−1)K^(−1)at 1473 ***,the coupling effects of lattice vibrations and charges on heat transfer are revealed by the cross-validations of various models,indicating that the weak bonds with low electronegativity and few bond-ing charge density and the lattice distortion(r∗)identified by cation radius ratio(r A/r B)should be the KPPs to decreaseκ*** work supports an intelligent designing strategy with limited atomic and electronic KPPs to accelerate the development of advanced multi-component HEOs with proper-ties/performance at multi-scales.
