In a circuit quantum electrodynamics(circuit QED) architecture, the microwave resonator could be used to couple and probe qubits. The long-range coupling and information transfer between nonlocal qubits can be performed via photons trapped in a microwave resonator, promising an effective approach for scaling up solid-state qubits. A series of important advances in the hybrid system composed of a microwave resonator and semiconductor qubits have been achieved in recent years. For instance,with applications of high-impedance microwave resonators, the strong coupling regime between charge/spin qubits and a microwave resonator has been reached. Simultaneously, resonator-based dispersive readout and single-shot readout to probe the qubit state have been further improved due to the increase of the coupling strength. Here, we briefly introduce this hybrid system related to the progress and fruits in achieving the strong coupling between charge/spin qubits in double quantum dots(DQDs)and the resonator, the long-range coupling between qubits, and also the applications of the resonator for qubit state readout.

Solar thermal interfacial water evaporation is proposed as a promising route to address freshwater scarcity,which can reduce energy consumption and have unlimited application *** large semiconductor family with controllable bandgap and good chemo-physical stability are considered as good candidates for ***,the evaporation rate is not satisfactory because the rational control of nano/micro structure and composition is still in its infancy ***,by systemically analyzing the photo-thermal evaporation processes,we applied the hollow multishelled structure(HoMS)into this *** from the multishelled and hierarchical porous structure,the light absorption,thermal regulation,and water transport are simultaneously optimized,resulting in a water evaporation rate of 3.2 kg·m^(-2)·h^(-1),which is among the best performance in solar-vapour *** collected water from different water resources meets the World Health Organization standard for drinkable ***,by using the CuO/Cu_(2)O system,reactive oxygen species were generated for water disinfection,showing a new route for efficient solar-vapour generation and a green way to obtain safe drinking water.

In this study, comparative heat flux measurements for a sharp cone model were conducted by utilizing a high enthalpy shock tunnel JF-10 and a large-scale shock tunnel JF-12, responsible for providing nonequilibrium and perfect gas flows, respectively. Experiments were performed at the Key Laboratory of High Temperature Gas Dynamics(LHD), Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Corresponding numerical simulations were also conducted in effort to better understand the phenomena accompanying in these experiments. By assessing the consistency and accuracy of all the data gathered during this study, a detailed comparison of sharp cone heat transfer under a totally different kind of freestream conditions was build and analyzed. One specific parameter, defined as the product of the Stanton number and the square root of the Reynold number, was found to be more characteristic for the aerodynamic heating phenomena encountered in hypersonic flight. Adequate use of said parameter practically eliminates the variability caused by the deferent flow conditions, regardless of whether the flow is in dissociation or the boundary condition is catalytic. Essentially, the parameter identified in this study reduces the amount of ground experimental data necessary and eases data extrapolation to flight.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic performance of multiparametric ultrasound(mpUS;grayscale US,color Doppler US,strain elastography,and contrast-enhanced US)in the assessment of testicular lesions with negative tumoral *** imaging data,patient age,serum tumor markers,scrotal pain,cryptorchidism,and related clinical information were retrospectively collected for patients who underwent mpUS examination between January 2013 and December *** results or follow-up examinations were used as the reference *** total,83 lesions from 79 patients were included in the ***-six patients were finally diagnosed with benign tumors,and 23 patients were ultimately diagnosed with malignant ***-square tests or Fisher's exact tests were used to assess the difference between the two *** multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that lesion diameter(odds ratio[OR]=1.072,P=0.005),vascularization on color Doppler US(OR=4.066,P=0.001),and hyperenhancement during the early phase(OR=6.465,P=0.047)were significant independent risk factors for malignancy;however,when compared with neoplastic lesions,pain(OR=0.136,P<0.001),absence of vascularization on color Doppler US(OR=1.680,P=0.042),and nonenhancement during the late phase(OR=3.461,P=0.031)were strongly associated with nonneoplastic *** features are useful for differentiating testicular lesions with negative tumoral markers and improving the preoperative diagnosis,which may avoid inappropriate radical orchiectomy.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) which is a leading cause of chronic liver diseases lacks effective treatment. Tamoxifen hasbeen proven to be the first-line chemotherapy for several solid tumors in clinics, however, its therapeutic role in NAFLD has neverbeen elucidated before. In vitro experiments, tamoxifen protected hepatocytes against sodium palmitate-induced lipotoxicity. Inmale and female mice fed with normal diets, continuous tamoxifen administration inhibited lipid accumulation in liver, andimproved glucose and insulin intolerance. Short-term tamoxifen administration largely improved hepatic steatosis and insulinresistance, however, the phenotypes manifesting inflammation and fibrosis remained unchanged in abovementioned models. Inaddition, mRNA expressions of genes related to lipogenesis, inflammation, and fibrosis were downregulated by tamoxifentreatment. Moreover, the therapeutic effect of tamoxifen on NAFLD was not gender or ER dependent, as male and female mice withmetabolic disorders shared no difference in response to tamoxifen and ER antagonist (fulvestrant) did not abolish its therapeuticeffect as well. Mechanistically, RNA sequence of hepatocytes isolated from fatty liver revealed that JNK/MAPK signaling pathwaywas inactivated by tamoxifen. Pharmacological JNK activator (anisomycin) partially deprived the therapeutic role of tamoxifen intreating hepatic steatosis, proving tamoxifen improved NAFLD in a JNK/MAPK signaling-dependent manner.

The Basset-Boussinesq-Oseen （BBO） equation can be used for most flows to trace the motion of a particle, but in a centrifugal pump, among the forces that act on the particles, one should also include those due to the impeller rotation, as additional effects. This paper firstly reviews various approximations of the BBO equation for the motion of dispersion particles in a viscous fluid. Then based on the motion equation for particles in low Reynolds number centrifugal pumps, a formula for calculating the tracking characteristics of tracer particles is deduced through the Fourier integral transformation. After that the deviations of the particle motion from the fluid motion, as predicted by the various approximations, are discussed and compared. At last, with an emphasis on the Particle Image Velocimetry （PIV） results, the tracking characteristics of particles are estimated. Also, advantages and disadvantages of different tracer particles are discussed and suitable tracer particles for application in PIV studies for flow fields in centrifugal pumps are suggested.

Potential application of ultrasound-guided thermal ablation in rare liver tumors

Background: With the advances of imaging techniques, the detection rate of rare liver tumor is increased. However, the therapeutic strategies of the rare liver tumors remain limited. Methods: We analyzed twelve pathologically confirmed rare liver tumors in 8 patients. All of the patients underwent ultrasound(US) guided biopsy and subsequent thermal ablation. The tumors were ablated according to the preoperative plans and monitored by real-time US. CT/MRI fused with contrast enhanced US(CEUS) or three-dimensional(3 D) US-CEUS images were used to guide and assess the ablation zone more accurately during thermal ablation. The rate of technical efficacy was assessed based on the contrast-enhance CT/MRI(CECT/MRI) results one month after ablation. Local tumor progression(LTP), recurrence and complications were followed up and recorded. Results: Among these twelve nodules, nine were subject to US-guided thermal ablation, whereas the other three inconspicuous nodules were subject to CEUS-guided thermal ablation. Intra-procedure CT/MRI-CEUS or 3 D US-CEUS fusion imaging assessments demonstrated that the ablation zone sufficiently covered the original tumor, and no immediate supplementary ablation was required. Additionally, no major complications were observed during the follow-up period. The postoperative CECT/MRI confirmed that the technique success rate was 100%. Within the surveillance period of 13 months, no LTP or recurrence was noted. Conclusions: US-guided thermal ablation was feasible and safe for rare liver tumors. The use of fusion imaging technique might make US-guided thermal ablation as effective as surgical resection, and this technique might serve as a potential therapeutic modality for rare liver tumors in the future.

Soil Organic Carbon Stocks as Afected by Tillage Systems in a Double-Cropped Rice Field

Tillage practices can potentially affect soil organic carbon （SOC） accumulation in agricultural soils. A 4-year experiment was conducted to identify the influence of tillage practices on SOC sequestration in a double-cropped rice （Oryza sativa L.） field in Hunan Province of China. Three tillage treatments, no-till （NT）, conventional plow tillage （PT）, and rotary tillage （RT）, were laid in a randomized complete block design. Concentrations of SOC and bulk density （BD） of the 0-80 cm soil layer were measured, and SOC stocks of the 0-20 and 0-80 cm soil layers were calculated on an equivalent soil mass （ESM） basis and fixed depth （FD） basis. Soil carbon budget （SCB） under different tillage systems were assessed on the basis of emissions of methane （CH4） and CO2 and the amount of carbon （C） removed by the rice harvest. After four years of experiment, the NT treatment sequestrated more SOC than the other treatments. The SOC stocks in the 0-80 cm layer under NT （on an ESM basis） was as high as 129.32 Mg C ha-1, significantly higher than those under PT and RT （P 〈 0.05）. The order of SOC stocks in the 0-80 cm soil layer was NT 〉 PT 〉 RT, and the same order was observed for SCB; however, in the 0-20 cm soil layer, the RT treatment had a higher SOC stock than the PT treatment. Therefore, when comparing SOC stocks, only considering the top 20 cm of soil would lead to an incomplete evaluation for the tillage-induced effects on SOC stocks and SOC sequestrated in the subsoil layers should also be taken into consideration. The estimation of SOC stocks using the ESM instead of FD method would better reflect the actual changes in SOC stocks in the paddy filed, as the FD method amplified the tillage effects on SOC stocks. This study also indicated that NT plus straw retention on the soil surface was a viable option to increase SOC stocks in paddy soils.
