Objective:This cross-sectional study aimed to determine the epidemiology of olfactory and gustatory dysfunctions related to COVID-19 in ***:This study was conducted by 45 tertiary Grade-A hospitals in *** and offline questionnaire data were obtained from patients infected with COVID-19 between December 2.,2.2.,and February 2.,*** collected information included basic demographics,medical history,smoking and drinking history,vaccination history,changes in olfactory and gustatory functions before and after infection,and other postinfection symptoms,as well as the duration and improvement status of olfactory and gustatory ***:Complete questionnaires were obtained from 35,566 *** overall incidence of olfactory and taste dysfunction was 67.75%.Being female or being a cigarette smoker increased the likelihood of developing olfactory and taste *** received four doses of the vaccine or having good oral health or being a alcohol drinker decreased the risk of such *** infection,the average olfactory and taste VAS scores were 8.41 and 8.51,respectively;after infection,they decreased to 3.69 and 4.2. and recovered to 5.83 and 6.55 by the time of the *** median duration of dysosmia and dysgeusia was 15 and 12.days,respectively,with 0.5%of patients having symptoms lasting for more than 2. *** overall self-reported improvement rate was 59.16%.Recovery was higher in males,never smokers,those who received two or three vaccine doses,and those that had never experienced dental health issues,or chronic accompanying ***:The incidence of dysosmia and dysgeusia following infection with the SARS-CoV-2.virus is high in *** and prognosis are influenced by several factors,including sex,SARS-CoV-2.vaccination,history of head-facial trauma,nasal and oral health status,smoking and drinking history,and the persistence of accompanying symptoms.

In situ synthesis of graphitic-C3N4 nanosheet hybridized N-doped TiO2.nanofibers for efficient photocatalytic H2.production and degradation

Graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets （g-C3N4 NSs） hybridized nitrogen doped titanium dioxide （N-TiO2. nanofibers （GCN/NT NFs） have been synthesized in situ via a simple electrospinning process combined with a modified heat-etching method. The prepared GCN/NT NFs were characterized by a variety of methods and their photocatalytic activities were evaluated by hydrogen （H2. production from water splitting and degradation of rhodamine B in aqueous solution. It was found that the GCN/NT NFs have a mesoporous structure, composed of g-C3N4 NSs and N-doped TiO2.crystallites. The g-C3N4 NSs synthesized after heat-etching were found to be embedded in, and covered, the hybrid NFs to form stable interfaces. The partial decomposition of g-C3N4 releases its nitrogen content which eventually gets doped into the nearby TiO2.skeleton. The GCN/NT NFs give a high photocatalytic H2.production rate of 8,931.3 μmol·h^-1·g^-1 in aqueous methanol solution under simulated solar light. Such a highly efficient photocatalytic perfor- mance can be ascribed to the combined effects of g-C3N4 NSs and N-doped TiO2.with enhanced light absorption intensity and improved electron transport ability. Also, the large surface area of the mesoporous NFs minimizes light reflection on the surface and provides more surface-active sites. This work highlights the potential of quasi-one dimensional hybrid materials in the field of solar energy conversion.

A transition edge sensor(TES)is extremely sensitive to changes in temperature,and combined with a high-Z metal of a certain thickness,it can realize high-energy resolution measurements of particles such as X-rays.X-rays with energies below 10 keV have a weak penetrating ability,hence,only gold or bismuth of a few micrometers in thickness can guarantee a quantum efficiency higher than 70%.Therefore,the entire structure of the TES X-ray detector in this energy range can be realized using a microfabrication ***,for X-rays or γ-rays from 10 keV to 2.0 keV,submillimeter absorber layers are required,which cannot be realized using the microfabrication *** paper first briefly introduces a set of TES X-ray detectors and their auxiliary systems,and then focuses on the introduction of the TES γ-ray detector with an absorber based on a submillimeter lead-tin alloy *** detector achieved a quantum efficiency above 70% near 100 keV and an energy resolution of approximately 161.5 eV at 59.5 keV.

Rational design and precise regulation over the morphology, structure, and pore size of functional conducting mesoporous polymers with enriched active sites and shorten electron–ion transport pathway are extremely important for developing high-performance micro-supercapacitors (MSCs), but still remain a great challenge. Herein, a general dual-colloid interface co-assembly strategy is proposed to fabricate hollow mesoporous polypyrrole nano-bowls (mPPy-nbs) for high-energy-density solid-state planar MSCs. By simply adjusting the size of block copolymer micelles, the diameter of polystyrene nanospheres and the amount of pyrrole monomer, mesopore size of the shell, void and shell thickness of mPPy-nbs can be simultaneously controlled. Importantly, this strategy can be further utilized to synthesize other hollow mesoporous polymers, including poly(tris(4-aminophenyl)amine), poly(1,3,5-triaminobenzene) and their copolymers, demonstrative of excellent universality. The structurally optimized mPPy-nb exhibits high specific surface area of 12. m^(2. g^(−1)and large capacitance of 2.5 F g^(−1) at 1 mV s^(−1). Furthermore, the MSCs assembled by mPPy-nbs deliver impressive volumetric capacitance of 90 F cm^(−3) and energy density of 2.0 mWh cm^(−3), superior to the most reported polymers-based MSCs. Also, the fabricated MSCs present excellent flexibility with almost no capacitance decay under varying bending states, and robust serial/parallel self-integration for boosting voltage and capacitance output. Therefore, this work will inspire the new design of mesoporous conducting polymer materials toward high-performance microscale supercapacitive devices.

An enrichment model using regular health examination data for early detection of colorectal cancer

Objective: Challenges remain in current practices of colorectal cancer(CRC) screening, such as low compliance,low specificities and expensive cost. This study aimed to identify high-risk groups for CRC from the general population using regular health examination ***: The study population consist of more than 7,000 CRC cases and more than 140,000 controls. Using regular health examination data, a model detecting CRC cases was derived by the classification and regression trees(CART) algorithm. Receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve was applied to evaluate the performance of models. The robustness and generalization of the CART model were validated by independent datasets. In addition, the effectiveness of CART-based screening was compared with stool-based ***: After data quality control, 4,647 CRC cases and 133,898 controls free of colorectal neoplasms were used for downstream analysis. The final CART model based on four biomarkers(age, albumin, hematocrit and percent lymphocytes) was constructed. In the test set, the area under ROC curve(AUC) of the CART model was 0.88 [95%confidence interval(95% CI), 0.87-0.90] for detecting CRC. At the cutoff yielding 99.0% specificity, this model’s sensitivity was 62.2.(95% CI, 58.1%-66.2.), thereby achieving a 63-fold enrichment of CRC cases. We validated the robustness of the method across subsets of test set with diverse CRC incidences, aging rates, genders ratio, distributions of tumor stages and locations, and data sources. Importantly, CART-based screening had the higher positive predictive value(1.6%) than fecal immunochemical test(0.3%).Conclusions: As an alternative approach for the early detection of CRC, this study provides a low-cost method using regular health examination data to identify high-risk individuals for CRC for further examinations. The global spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2.SARS-CoV-2.requires an urgent need to find effective therapeutics for the treatment of coronavirus disease 2.19(COVID-19).In this study,we developed an integrative drug repositioning framework,which fully takes advantage of machine learning and statistical analysis approaches to systematically integrate and mine large-scale knowledge graph,literature and transcriptome data to discover the potential drug candidates against *** in silico screening followed by wet-lab validation indicated that a poly-ADP-ribose polymerase 1(PARP1)inhibitor,CVL2.8,currently in Phase I clinical trial,may be repurposed to treat *** in vitro assays revealed that CVL2.8 can exhibit effective inhibitory activity against SARS-CoV-2.replication without obvious cytopathic *** addition,we showed that CVL2.8 can interact with the nucleocapsid(N)protein of SARS-CoV-2.and is able to suppress the LPS-induced production of several inflammatory cytokines that are highly relevant to the prevention of immunopathology induced by SARS-CoV-2.infection.
