nanomaterials as lubricating oil additives have attracted significant attention because of their designable composition and structure,suitable mech.nical property,and tunable surface ***,the poor compatibility between nanomaterials and base oil limits their further *** this work,we demonstrated oil-soluble poly(lauryl methacrylate)(PLMA)brushes-grafted metal-organic frameworks nanoparticles(nanoMOFs)as lubricating oil additives that can achieve efficient friction reduction and anti-wear *** were synthesized by free-radical polymerization,which was coordinatively grafted onto the surface of the UiO-67 ***,PLMA brushes were grown on the macroinitiator-modified UiO-67 by surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization,which greatly improved the lipophilic property of the UiO-67 nanoparticles and significantly enhanced the colloidal stability and long-term dispersity in both non-polar solvent and base *** adding UiO-67@PLMA nanoparticles into the 500 Sn base oil,coefficient of friction and wear volume reductions of 45.3%and 75.5%were achieved due to their excellent mech.nical properties and oil ***,the load-carrying capacity of 500 Sn was greatly increased from 100 to 500 n by the UiO-67@PLMA additives,and their excellent tribological performance was demonstrated even at a high friction frequency of 65 Hz and high temperature of 120℃.Our work highlights oil-soluble polymer brushes-functionalized nanoMOFs for highly efficient lubricating additives.

Visible light-Induced Photocatalysis:Self-Fenton Degradation of p-CIPhOH Over Graphitic Carbon nitride by a Polyethylenimine Bifunctional Catalyst

Deep degradation of organic pollutants by sunlight-induced coupled photocatalytic and Fenton (photo-Fenton) reactions is of immense importance for water purification. In this work, we report a novel bifunctional catalyst (Fe-PEI-Cn) by codoping graphitic carbon nitride (Cn) with polyethyleneimine ethoxylated (PEI) and Fe species, which demonstrated high activity during p-chlorophenol (p-ClPhOH) degradation via H_(2)O_(2) from the photocatalytic process. The relationship between the catalytic efficiency and the structure was explored using diff erent characterization methods. The Fe modification of Cn was achieved through Fe-n coordination, which ensured high dispersion of Fe species and strong stability against leach.ng during liquid- phase reactions. The Fe modification initiated the Fenton reaction by activating H_(2)O_(2) into ·OH radicals for deep degradation of p-ClPhOH. In addition, it eff ectively promoted light absorption and photoelectron-hole (e-h ^(+) ) separation, corresponding to improved photocatalytic activity. On the other hand, PEI could significantly improve the ability of Cn to generate H_(2)O_(2) through visible light photocatalysis. The maximum H_(2)O_(2) yield reached up to 102.6 μmol/L, which was 22 times higher than that of primitive Cn. The cooperation of photocatalysis and the self-Fenton reaction has led to high-activity mineralizing organic pollutants with strong durability, indicating good potential for practical application in wastewater treatment.

Academic Stress Assessment Using Virtual Reality as an Educational Tool in Spine Surgery

Introduction: The evaluation of academic stress in medical students and residents is a topic of significant interest, given the considerable challenges they face during their learning process with traditional teach.ng methods. The use of technologies like virtual reality presents an opportunity to enhance their skills through simulations and training. The main objective of this study is to qualitatively assess the stress levels experienced by medical students and residents by integrating virtual reality into their current learning methods, aiming to improve their ability to manage stressors in their practice. Material and Methods: A questionnaire was conducted with 12 medical students and 12 Traumatology and orthopedics residents. The purpose of the questionnaire was to evaluate the levels of academic stress using the SISCO inventory. The stress levels were calculated by transforming average values into percentages, and the following criteria were assigned: 0 to 33% for Mild Stress, 34 to 66% for Moderate Stress, and 67 to 100% for Deep Stress. Then, a virtual reality class focused on spine surgery was provided. Both medical students and residents were trained using the non nocere SharpSurgeon software platform and Oculus Quest 2 virtual reality glasses. At the end of the session, a second questionnaire related to the practice with virtual reality was conducted with the same evaluation criteria and a comparative analysis was carried out. Results: 12 undergraduate students from Hospital Angeles Mexico, CDMX and 12 traumatology and orthopedics residents at Hospital Santa Fe, Bogota were evaluated. The students in CDMX reported an average qualitative stress of 28.50% during habitual practices, which decreased to an average of 14.67% after virtual reality practice. Residents in Bogotá experienced an average qualitative stress of 30.50% with their current learning methods but this reduced to an average of 13.92% after using virtual reality. Identi?cation and Analysis of the Intermediates from Photodegradation of 3,3′-diamino-4,4′-azoxyfurazan (DAAF)by SERS and HPLC–MS/MS

Understanding the structural ch.nges and degradation mech.nisms of organic pollutants is critical in environmental *** this work, a xenon lamp was used as an analog light source to simulate the eff ect of sunlight on 3,3′-diamino-4,4′-azoxyfurazan (DAAF) in aqueous solution. Combining high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC–MS/MS), surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) with density functional theory (DFT), the degradation intermediates and mech.nisms of DAAF were investigated. The sequential breakdown of the–nH 2and–O–n=bonds, followed by the removal of atomic O from–n=n(O)–, was emphasized and investigated using two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy (2D-COS) and SERS spectra. Three intermediates with mass-to-charge ratios (m/z) 181, 251 and180 were identifi ed and characterized by integrating experimental SERS data with DFT-calculated Raman spectra based on structures hypothesized from MS spectra. The fi ndings from HPLC–MS and SERS not only corroborate each other but also provide a foundation for a detailed examination of the DAAF degradation process.
