Effects of inorganic nutrients and environmental factors on the removal of n-propylbenzene and isopropylbenzene in seawater by cryptophytes Rhinomonas reticulata S6A

To effectively remove n-propylbenzene(n-PBZ)and isopropylbenzene(i-PBZ)leaked into seawater using Rhinomonas reticulata S6A(a newly isolated marine microalga),the effects of three inorganic nutrients and four environmental factors on their degradation were determined after 7 d of *** show that nanO_(3) at 300 mg/L caused a higher removal efficiency of both n-PBZ and i-PBZ(44.79%and 39.26%),while for naH_(2) PO_(4)·H_(2) O,greater removal rates of two PBZs(47.30%and 42.23%)were achieved at 30 and 20 mg/L,***_(3) supplementation(500-750 mg/L)resulted in a large reduction(43.67%-45.04%)in i-PBZ *** ch.nge in seawater pH(from 6 to 9)did not affect the elimination of n-PBZ and *** most suitable salinity and temperature were 30 and 25-30℃,respectively,leading to the PBZs removal of~40%.light intensity exhibited significant influence on elimination of PBZs,and the maximum removal efficiencies of 56.07%(n-PBZ)and 55.00%(i-PBZ)were recorded under 200 and 600μmol/(m^(2)·s),*** addition,the microalga could still remove PBZs when it failed to grow well due to darkness,strong light,low temperature,or low salinity,which might mean that good growth of alga is not always a necessary condition for PBZs ***,attention should be paid to the suitability of nutrient levels and environmental conditions(excluding pH)in seawater when using microalgae for bioremediating PBZs-contaminated seawater.

Effi cacy of partial and complete resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta in the hemorrhagic shock model of liver injury

BACKGROUnD:Resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta(REBOA)can temporarily control traumatic ***,its prolonged use potentially leads to ischemia-reperfusion injury(IRI).Partial REBOA(pREBOA)can alleviate ischemic burden;however,its security and eff ectiveness prior to operative hemorrhage control remains ***,we aimed to estimate the effi cacy of pREBOA in a swine model of liver injury using an experimental sliding-chamber ballistic ***:Twenty Landrace pigs were randomized into control(no aortic occlusion)(n=5),intervention with complete REBOA(cREBOA)(n=5),continuous pREBOA(C-pREBOA)(n=5),and sequential pREBOA(S-pREBOA)(n=5)*** the cREBOA and C-pREBOA groups,the balloon was inflated for 60 *** hemodynamic and laboratory values were compared at various observation time *** samples immediately after animal euthanasia from the myocardium,liver,kidneys,and duodenum were collected for histological assessment using hematoxylin and eosin ***:Compared with the control group,the survival rate of the REBOA groups was prominently improved(all Pn the cREBOA group(493.14±127.31 mL)compared with other groups(Pnificantly lower at 180 min in the cREBOA and S-pREBOA groups(Pn,the S-pREBOA group showed higher alanine aminotransferase(Pnitrogen compared with the cREBOA group(PnCLUSIOn:In this trauma model with liver injury,a 60-minute pREBOA resulted in improved survival rate and was effective in maintaining reliable aortic pressure,despite persistent *** tolerance time for aortic occlusion in Zone I for non-compressible torso hemorrhage was feasible with both continuous partial and sequential partial measures,and the significant improvement in the severity of acidosis and distal organ injury was observed in the sequential pREBOA.

Herein,we report a condition-controlled divergent synthesis of spiro indene-2,1'-isoindolinones and spiro isochroman-3,1'-isoindolinones through cobalt-catalyzed formal[4+1]and[4+1+1]spirocyclization of aromatic amides with 2-diazo-1H-indene-1,3(2H)-*** the reaction is carried out under air in ethyl acetate,spiro indene-2,1'-isoindolinones are formed through Co(II)-catalyzed C—H/n—H[4+1]*** the reaction is run under O2 in ch3Cn,on the other hand,spiro isochroman-3,1'-isoindolinones are generated through Baeyer-Villiger oxidation of the in situ formed spiro indene-2,1'-isoindolinones with O2 as a cheaper and environmental-friendly oxygen *** general,these protocols have advantages such as using non-precious and earth-abundant metal catalyst,no extra additive,high efficiency and regioselectivity.A gram-scale synthesis and the removal of the directing group further highlight its utility.

The biosecurity hazards caused by pathogenic fungus have been widely *** the long-term coexistence of eukaryotic pathogens and quorum sensing bacteria in different habitats in environments,we hypothesized that they have social interactions via signal *** this work,we firstly discovered the well-known bacterial signal molecules play an adverse role in the cell morphology and metabolism in a model pathogen Trichosporon asahii.n-Tetradecanoyl-L-homoserine lactone(C14-HSL)was discovered to increase pathogen hazards of ***,which limited mycelium by 52%,but enhanced cell aggregation by 93%.Higher fluorescence intensity of tryptophan(59%)and aromatic protein(2-fold)contents after the treatment of C14-HSL,indicating that aromatic proteins helped aggregate Trichosporon and showed *** analysis revealed that C14-HSL upregulated the shikimate pathway(above1-fold)located in downstream of tricarboxylic acid cycle,which contributed to the synthesis of more aromatic proteins and the formation of larger *** limited mycelial growth of *** attributed to the up-regulated expressions of cell cycle *** fungal transboundary response to bacterial C14-HSL was controlled by signal transduction *** study provides new insights into the co-evolution of bacterial and pathogenic fungi in microecosystems.

High-throughput screening of single-atom catalysts confined in monolayer black phosphorus for efficient nitrogen reduction reaction

The discovery of metal-nitrogen centers as the active sites for electrolysis has aroused significant interest in utilizing single-atom catalysts for nitrogen reduction reaction(nRR).Properly designed nanostructured catalysts that strongly interact with nitrogen molecules(n_(2))can promote adsorption and activation,thereby resulting in efficient catalysts with high stability,activity,and *** this study,using density functional theory calculations,we selected monolayer black phosphorus(BP)as the substrate and screened a series of single-atom transition metals confined in tri-coordinated and tetra-coordinated active centers(without and with n dopants)to electro-catalyze *** a result,we have identified two promising candidates(Hf_(1)-n_(1)P_(2)-1 and Tc_(1)-n_(4)),which exhibit not only low overpotentials of 0.56 and 0.49 V but also high thermodynamic and electrochemical stability,as well as good selectivity towards nRR over the competing hydrogen evolution *** also demonstrate the ability of Hf_(1)-n_(1)P_(2)-1 and Tc_(1)-n_(4) to activate and hydrogenate n_(2) by donating electrons and regulating charge *** study not only predicts new BP-based promising catalysts but also provides guidance for the rational design of high-performance nRR electrocatalysts under ambient conditions.

For solving two-dimensional incompressible flow in the vorticity form by the fourth-order compact finite difference scheme and explicit strong stability preserving temporal discretizations,we show that the simple bound-preserving limiter in li et al.(SIAM J numer Anal 56:3308–3345,2018)can enforce the strict bounds of the vorticity,if the velocity field satisfies a discrete divergence free *** reducing oscillations,a modified TVB limiter adapted from Cockburn and Shu(SIAM J numer Anal 31:607–627,1994)is constructed without affecting the bound-preserving *** bound-preserving finite difference method can be used for any passive convection equation with a divergence free velocity field.

Vanadyl Sulfate Based Hole-Transporting Layer Enables Efficient Organic Solar Cells

It remains an urgent task to develop alternative hole-transporting layer(HTL)materials beyond commonly used PEDOT:PSS to increase the shelf-life of organic solar cells(OSCs).Inorganic metal oxide type materials,such as niO_(x),CoO_(x)and VO_(x),with suitable work functions have attracted numerous research attention *** this work,more abundant and easily accessible oxygenated salt,vanadyl sulfate(VOSO_(4))has been demonstrated to be excellent choice as HTL for *** VOSO_(4)-based HTL can be readily processed by spin-coating from the precursor solution with subsequent thermal annealing and UVO *** a consequence,a high power conversion efficiency(PCE)of 18.72%can be achieved for PM8:L8-BO based OSCs with the VOSO_(4)-based *** transmittance,smooth film surface,suitable energy level and high conductivity were revealed to contribute to the high OSC *** importantly,compared to device with PEDOT:PSS,VOSO_(4)-based OSCs exhibit improved stability when stored in the n_(2)filled glove *** being stored for 600 h,VOSO_(4)-based device can retain 89%of its initial ***,VOSO_(4)can be used as general HTL in PM6:BTP-BO-4Cl and PM6:IT-4F based OSCs,yielding high PCEs of 17.87%and 13.85%,respectively.
