In this paper we study the asymptotic behavior of the maximal position of a supercritical multiple catalytic branching random walk(X_(n))on Z.If M_(n) is its maximal position at time n,we prove that there is a constantα>0 such that M_(n)/n converges toαalmost surely on the set of infinite number of visits to the set of catalysts.We also derive the asymptotic law of the centered process M_(n)-αn as n→∞.Our results are similar to those in[13].However,our results are proved under the assumption of finite L log L moment instead of finite second moment.We also study the limit of(X_(n))as a measure-valued Markov process.For any function f with compact support,we prove a strong law of large numbers for the process X_(n)(f).

Objective SET8 is a member of the SET domain-containing family and the only known lysine methyltransferase(KMT)that monomethylates lysine 20 of histone H4(H4 K20 me1).SET8 has been implicated in many essential cellular processes,including cell cycle regulation,DNA replication,DNA damage response,and carcinogenesis.There is no conclusive evidence,however,regarding the effect of SET8 on radiotherapy.In the current study we determined the efficacy of SET8 inhibition on radiotherapy of tumors and the underlying mechanism.Methods First,we explored the radiotherapy benefit of the SET8 expression signature by analyzing clinical data.Then,we measured a series of biological endpoints,including the xenograft tumor growth in mice and apoptosis,frequency of micronuclei,and foci of 53 BP1 andγ-H2 AX in cells to detect the SET8 effects on radiosensitivity.RNA sequencing and subsequent experiments were exploited to verify the mechanism underlying the SET8 effects on radiotherapy.Results Low expression of SET8 predicted a better benefit to radiotherapy in lung adenocarcinoma(LUAD)and invasive breast carcinoma(BRCA)patients.Furthermore,genetic deletion of SET8 significantly enhanced radiation treatment efficacy in a murine tumor model,and A549 and MCF7 cells;SET8 overexpression decreased the radiosensitivity.SET8 inhibition induced more apoptosis,the frequency of micronuclei,and blocked the kinetics process of DNA damage repair as 53 BP1 andγ-H2 AX foci remained in cells.Moreover,RNF8 was positively correlated with the SET8 impact on DNA damage repair.Conclusion Our results demonstrated that SET8 inhibition enhanced radiosensitivity by suppressing DNA damage repair,thus suggesting that SET8 potentiated radiotherapy of carcinomas.As new inhibitors of SET8 are synthesized and tested in preclinical and clinical settings,combining SET8 inhibitors with radiation warrants consideration for precise radiotherapy.

Global climate changes have created intense naturaldisasters such as typhoons, which may cause serious damage topower systems. As an emerging renewable energy resource, offshore wind power has great potential in power systems resilienceenhancement with its rapid start-up capability and developmentof anti-typhoon technology. In this paper, a restoration strategyby offshore wind power considering risk is proposed to speedup the restoration process and enhance system resilience. Specifically, a failure risk model of an individual wind turbine andthen the whole wind farm is built for predicting severe weather’simpact, with focus on failure probability. Further, a quantificationmodel of resilience enhancement and risk cost, based on customerinterruption cost assessment method, is introduced. Then, a twostage optimized decision-making model is proposed to solve thescheme of offshore wind power and conventional power unitsin load restoration process. Case studies are undertaken on amodified IEEE RTS-79 system and results indicate the proposedrestoration strategy can shorten duration of restoration andreduce customers’ economic losses meanwhile ensuring systemsafety.

The species composition of plant communities is determined by a number of factors,including current environmental conditions as well as biogeographical and evolutionary history.Despite evidence that plant diversity decreases and species relatedness increases along latitudinal and environmental gradients(e.g.,low temperatures),it remains unclear whether these same patterns occur along elevational gradients,especially in the subtropical mountainous areas harboring rich biodiversity.In this study,we explored the pattern of phylogenetic relatedness of woody angiosperm assemblages and examined the effects of temperature variables on the phylogenetic relatedness among angiosperm woody plants using generalized linear model in subtropical forest communities along a broad elevational gradient in the Dulong Valley of Yunnan Province,China.Our results showed that woody angiosperm species in local forest plots tend to be more phylogenetically related at higher elevations and in areas with lower temperatures.Additionally,winter average temperature,rather than mean annual temperature,is a major predictor of the pattern of increasing phylogenetic relatedness with increasing elevation.This finding is consistent with the prediction of‘Tropical Niche Conservatism’hypothesis,which highlights the role of niche constraints in driving phylogenetic community assembly along an elevational gradient.

Under the context of carbon neutrality of China,it is urgent to shift our energy supply towards cleaner fuels as well as to reduce the greenhouse gas emission.Currently,coal is the main fossil fuel energy source of China.The country is striving hard to replace it with methane,a cleaner fossil fuel.Although China has rich geological resources of methane as coal bed methane(CBM)reserves,it is quite challenging to utilize them due to low concentration.The CBM is however mainly emitted directly to atmosphere during coal mining,causing waste of the resource and huge contribution to greenhouse effect.The recent work by Yang et al.demonstrated a potential solution to extract low concentration methane selectively from CBM through using MOF materials as sorbents.Such kind of materials and associated separation technology are promising to reduce greenhouse gas emission and promote the methane production capability,which would contribute to carbon neutrality in dual pathways.

Objective This study explains the application number and funding rate of oncology projects undertaken by the National Natural Science Foundation of China(NSFC),with focus on tumor radiotherapy-related research over the past 11 years.Methods A stratified analysis was carried out on the application and funding status of tumor radiotherapy studies in different NSFC project categories,different research areas,and different tumor types.Research areas that required specific focus,such as immunology-related radiotherapy,multimodality imaging and radiomics,and post-radiotherapy organ injury,were separately analyzed.Results The status and development trends of various related research fields were studied,and the research results were presented with the support of the NSFC,in order to provide reference for future applications and funding allocations.Conclusion The number of applications for funding increases every year.Although the total number of funded projects has also increased every year,the funding rate has decreased year by year.Projects on radiotherapy and immunization have been at the forefront in recent years,and the funding rate for these projects increases yearly.
