Quantifying source-sink relationships in leaf-color modified rice genotypes during grain filling

leaf-color modification can affect canopy photosynthesis,with potential effects on rice yield and yield *** source-sink relationships through crop management is often used to improve crop *** study investigated whether and how modifying leaf color alters source-sink relationships and whether current crop cultivation practices remain applicable for leaf-color modified *** collected data of total biomass and nitrogen(N)accumulation in rice genotypes of four genetic backgrounds and their leaf-color modified variants(greener or yellower)were analyzed,using a recently established modelling method to quantify the source-sink(im)balance during grain *** all.l.af-color variants,only one yellower-leaf variant showed a higher source capacity than its normal *** was associated with greater post-flowering N-uptake that prolonged the functional.l.af-N duration,and this greater post-flowering N-uptake was possible because of reduced pre-flowering N-uptake.A density experiment showed that current management practices(insufficient planting density accompanied by abundant N application)are unsuitable for the yellower-leaf genotype,ultimately limiting its yield ***-color modification affects source-sink relationships by regulating the N trade-off between pre-and post-flowering uptake,as well as N translocation between source and sink *** best exploit leaf-color modification for improving crop productivity,adjustments of crop management practices are required.

RNF26 up-regulates PD-l1 to regulate the cancer immune response in ccRCC

Background: Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) stands as the most prevalent form of kidney cancer, accounting for a significant proportion of malignancies affecting the kidneys. ccRCC is well known as a type of tumour with immunogenicity. Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) aim to enhance the anticancer immune response in ccRCC by blocking programmed cell death 1 ligand 1/programmed death 1 (PD-l1/PD-1) pathways. In a previous study, we showed that RING finger protein 26 (RNF26) degrades chromobox 7 (CBX7) to activate the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) in ccRCC. Methods: We analyzed The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database using the R package ESTIMATE and found that RNF26 was significantly associated with ccRCC immune infiltration. The relationship between RNF26 and the PD1 checkpoint signaling pathway was detected by enrichment analysis. In addition, the molecular mechanism of RNF26 up-regulation of PD-l1 was detected by transcriptome sequencing, RT-qPCR, and Western Blot in ccRCC cell.l.neages 786-O and A498 cells. The transplantation tumor experiments in C57Bl/6 mice were used to test the efficacy of anti-PD1 and knockdown of RNF26 in vivo. Results: We showed that RNF26 suppressed the immune response to ccRCC. Next, we revealed that RNF26 activated the PD-1 checkpoint pathway to suppress the immune response to ccRCC, possibly via the CBX7/PD-l1 axis. Conclusion: The suggestion derived from our results is that targeting RNF26 holds the potential to amplify the efficacy of anticancer immunotherapies in the treatment of ccRCC.

Quantum-confined CsPbBr_(3) perovskites are promising blue emitters for ultra-high-definition displays,but their soft lattice caused by highly ionic nature has a limited ***,we endow CsPbBr_(3) nanoplatelets(NPls)with atomic crystal.l.ke structural rigidity through proper surface engineering,by using strongly bound N-dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid(DBSA).A stable,rigid crystal structure,as well as uniform,orderly-arranged surface of these NPls is achieved by optimizing intermediate reaction stage,by switching from molecular clusters to mono-octahedra,while interaction with DBSA resulted in formation of a Cs_(x)O monolayer shell capping the NPl *** a result,both structural and optical stability of the CsPbBr3 NPls is enhanced by strong covalent bonding of DBSA,which inhibits undesired phase transitions and decomposition of the perovskite phase potentially caused by ligand ***,rather small amount of DBSA ligands at the NPl surface results in a short inter-NPl spacing in their closely-packed films,which facilitates efficient charge injection and *** photoluminescence of the produced CsPbBr_(3) NPls is bright(nearly unity emission quantum yield)and peaks at 457 nm with an extremely narrow bandwidth of 3.7 nm at 80 K,while the bandwidth of the electroluminescence(peaked at 460 nm)also reaches a record-narrow value of 15 nm at room *** value corresponds to the CIE coordinates of(0.141,0.062),which meets Rec.2020 standards for ultra-high-definition displays.

This paper first shows that for any p∈(1,2)there exists a continuously differentiable function f on l^(p)(and l^(p))such that the proximal subdifferential of f is empty everywhere,and hence it is not suitable to develop theory on proximal subdifferential in the classical Banach spaces l^(P)and l^(P) with p∈(1,2).On the other hand,this paper establishes variational analysis based on the proximal subdifferential in the framework of smooth Banach spaces of power type 2,which conclude all Hilbert spaces and all the classical spaces l^(P)and l^(P)with p∈(2,+∞).In particular,in such a smooth space,we provide the proximal subdifferential rules for sum functions,product functions,composite functions and supremum functions,which extend the basic results on the proximal subdifferential established in the framework of Hilbert *** of our main results are new even in the Hilbert space *** applications,we provide KKT-like conditions for nonsmooth optimization problems in terms of proximal subdifferential.

Nd^(3+)-doped tellurite glasses are promising materials for thermometers based on the fluorescence intensity ratio(FIR)***,at high Nd^(3+)concentrations,energy transfer(ET)processes such as optical reabsorption and cross-relaxation can affect the Nd^(3+)emission,which has been little explored in the ***,the present work investigated the use of Nd^(3+)-doped tellurite glass(samples doped with Nd^(3+)at 0.2 mol%,0.5 mol%,2.0 mol%,and 4.0 mol%)in fluorescence thermometers,in the temperature range from 299 to 371 *** results indicate a strong dependence of the FIR parameters on the Nd^(3+)concentration,due to changes in the emission band profiles caused by optical reabsorption of the Nd^(3+)emissions and cross-relaxation processes.A decrease of the relative sensitivity of the ratio^(4)F_(5/2)→^(4)I_(9/2)/^(4)F_(3/2)→^(4)I_(9/2)is observed for samples doped with higher amounts of Nd^(3+).The maximum relative sensitivity at 299 K is 3.00%/K,which is the highest value among the reported Nd^(3+)ions.

Roots and shells are two potential organs through which peanut plants absorb cadium(Cd)from soils;however,the relative contributions of the two uptake pathways(root uptake and shell absorption)to kernel Cd accumulation and their translocation characteristics are poorly *** this study,the relative contributions of the two pathways to Cd accumulation in two peanut cultivars,Xianghua2008(XH)and Yueyou43(YY),were accurately assessed by labeling rooting and podding zone soils with 113Cd and 111Cd isotopes(0.3 mg kg^(-1) dry soil),respectively,in a split-pot *** results showed that approximately 96%of the Cd accumulated in the peanut kernels was derived from root uptake,while only 4%originated from shell *** 1%of the Cd accumulated in whole peanut plants was attributed to shell absorption,of which 41%–44%was retained in shells and 56%–59%was translocated to *** contrast,the Cd absorbed by roots was efficiently translocated into all plant organs,of which 80%–84%was distributed in *** YY accumulated 1.3 times more Cd in whole plants than XH,the relative contributions of the two pathways to Cd accumulation in each plant organ were barely affected by peanut *** to the strong retention effect of shells,shell-derived Cd was approximately 2 times higher than root-derived Cd in *** results would improve the understanding of Cd accumulation processes in peanut plants,revealing that the root uptake pathway contributes predominantly to the Cd concentration in peanut kernels,based on which strategies and technology for the reduction of Cd in peanut plants could be designed and developed.

Background A deterioration in the meat quality of broilers has attracted much more attention in recent years.l-malic acid(MA)is evidenced to decrease meat drip loss in broilers,but the underlying molecular mechanisms are still ***’s also not sure whether the outputs obtained under experimental conditions can be obtained in a com-mercial ***,we investigated the effects and mechanisms of dietary MA supplementation on chicken meat drip loss at large-scale *** Results showed that the growth performance and drip loss were improved by MA *** metabolome revealed that l-2-aminoadipic acid,β-aminoisobutyric acid,eicosapentaenoic acid,and nicotinamide,as well as amino acid metabolism pathways connected to the improvements of meat quality by MA *** transcriptome analysis further indicated that the effect of MA on drip loss was also related to the proper immune response,evidenced by the enhanced B cell receptor signaling pathway,NF-κB signaling pathway,TNF signaling pathway,and Il-17 signaling *** We provided evidence that MA decreased chicken meat drip loss under commercial *** and transcriptome revealed a comprehensive understanding of the underlying ***,MA could be used as a promising dietary supplement for enhancing the water-holding capacity of chicken meat.
