Peripheral nerve injuries induce a severe motor and sensory deficit. Since the availability of autologous nerve transplants for nerve repair is very limited, alternative treatment strategies are sought, including the use of tubular nerve guidance conduits(tNGCs). however, the use of tNGCs results in poor functional recovery and central necrosis of the regenerating tissue, which limits their application to short nerve lesion defects(typically shorter than 3 cm). Given the importance of vascularization in nerve regeneration, we hypothesized that enabling the growth of blood vessels from the surrounding tissue into the regenerating nerve within the tNGC would help eliminate necrotic processes and lead to improved regeneration. In this study, we reported the application of macroscopic holes into the tubular walls of silk-based tNGCs and compared the various features of these improved silk^(+) tNGCs with the tubes without holes(silk^(–) tNGCs) and autologous nerve transplants in an 8-mm sciatic nerve defect in rats. Using a combination of micro-computed tomography and histological analyses, we were able to prove that the use of silk^(+) tNGCs induced the growth of blood vessels from the adjacent tissue to the intraluminal neovascular formation. A significantly higher number of blood vessels in the silk^(+) group was found compared with autologous nerve transplants and silk^(–), accompanied by improved axon regeneration at the distal coaptation point compared with the silk^(–) tNGCs at 7 weeks postoperatively. In the 15-mm(critical size) sciatic nerve defect model, we again observed a distinct ingrowth of blood vessels through the tubular walls of silk^(+) tNGCs, but without improved functional recovery at 12 weeks postoperatively. Our data proves that macroporous tNGCs increase the vascular supply of regenerating nerves and facilitate improved axonal regeneration in a short-defect model but not in a critical-size defect model. A cloud clustering and classification algorithm is developed for a ground-based Ka-band radar system in the vertically pointing mode. Cloud profiles are grouped based on the combination of a time–height clustering method and the k-means clustering method. The cloud classification algorithm, developed using a fuzzy logic method, uses nine physical parameters to classify clouds into nine types: cirrostratus, cirrocumulus, altocumulus, altostratus, stratus, stratocumulus, nimbostratus,cumulus or cumulonimbus. The performance of the clustering and classification algorithm is presented by comparison with all-sky images taken from January to June 2014. Overall, 92% of the cloud profiles are clustered successfully and the agreement in classification between the radar system and the all-sky imager is 87%. The distribution of cloud types in Beijing from January 2014 to December 2017 is studied based on the clustering and classification algorithm. The statistics show that cirrostratus clouds have the highest occurrence frequency(24%) among the nine cloud types. high-level clouds have the maximum occurrence frequency and low-level clouds the minimum occurrence frequency.

Effect of Annealing Temperature on Recrystallization Behavior of Cold Rolled Ti-Microalloyed Steel

In order to develop cold rolled Ti-microalloyed steel strips, the effects of annealing temperature on recrys-tallization behavior of experimental steel were researched by optical microscopy （OM）, transmission electron micros-copy （TEM） and Vickers hardness test. The annealing treatment could be divided into three distinct stages： recovery, recrystallization and grain growth. Reerystallization took place from 933 to 1033 K, during which a large number of recrystallized grains appear and hardness drops sharply. The morphology and size of TiN particles nearly remained unchanged at different stages of processing. With increasing annealing temperature, nanometer precipitates coarsened and the dislocation density was significantly reduced. In comparison with annealing time, annealing temperature was more crucial for recrystallization of cold rolled Ti microalloyed steel. It could be concluded that the pinning force of nanometer particles on dislocations increased the recrystallization temperature. At higher annealing temperature, re crystallization took place because of precipitates coarsening caused by Ostwald ripening.

The adverse effects of electronic waste （e-waste） on the human body have stirred up concern in recent years. China is one of the countries that confront serious pollution and human exposure of e-waste, and the majority of the population is exposed to potentially hazardous substances that are derived from informal e-waste recycling processes. This study reviews recent reports on human exposure to e-waste in China, with particular focus on exposure routes （e.g., inhalation and ingestion） and several toxicities of human （e.g., endocrine system, respiratory system, reproductive system, developmental toxicity, neurotoxicity, and genetic toxicity）. Pieces of evidence that associate e-waste exposure with human health effects in China are assessed. The role of toxic heavy metals （e.g., lead, cadmium, chromium, mercury, and nickel） and organic pollutants （e.g., polybrominated diphenyl ethers （PBDEs）, polychlorinated biphenyl （PCBs）, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons （PAhs）, polybrominated biphenyls （PBBs）, polyhalogenated aromatic hydrocarbons （PhAhs）, bisphenol A （BPA）） on human health is also briefly discussed.

This study investigated the occurrence,species,infectivity and removal efficiency of Cryptosporidium *** typical wastewater treatment *** from different process units were collected seasonally and synchronously from four wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs)in Northeastern *** Cryptosporidium oocysts were identified in most samples from both influent(97.50%)and effluent(90.00%)wastewaters of the four WWTPs,at an average density of 26.34 and 4.15 oocysts/l,*** overall removal efficiency was 84.25%,and oocysts were mainly removed(62.01%)by the modified secondary sedimentation *** Cryptosporidium species were identified in the effluent ***,***,and *** were the three most prevalent *** viability assays indicated no reduction of excystation rate during the primary and secondary wastewater treatments(varied in the range of 63.08%–68.50%),but the excystation rate declined to 52.21%in the effluent after ***,the Cryptosporidium oocysts showed higher infection intensity in the cold season(winter and spring)than that in summer and *** influences of environmental temperature on virulence factors of Cryptosporidium were further *** was observed that more extracellular secretory proteins were bound on the oocyst surface and several virulence genes were expressed relatively strongly at low temperatures,both of which could facilitate oocyst adhesion,invasion,and host immune *** research is of considerable interest since it serves as an important step towards more accurate panoramic recognition of Cryptosporidium risk reduction in WWTPs,and especially highlights the potential health risk associated with Cryptosporidium in cold regions/seasons.

The fracture behavior for welded joint of new generation fine grained steel SS400 was investigated and assessed on the basis of fitness for purpose philosophy. The actual critical defect sizes for the SS400 base metal and its weld hAZ (heat affected zone) defined by the gross yielding criterium have been determined directly by means of wide plate tests. It has been shown that although the hAZ grain growth occurs due to the welding heat, the resistance to fracture is not deteriorated. The deformation behavior of wide plate specimen was also studied by finite, element (FE) analysis. The deformation of weld hAZ is protected by the high strength weld metal, so it is easier to get the general yielding for the welded joint specimen.

Defining abnormal transmittance as the case where the magnitude of the shortwave flux transmittance is greater than 1.0,the authors used surface solar irradiance and all-sky images obtained at the Yangbajing site in Tibet to analyze the reasons for the occurrence of abnormal shortwave flux *** on the International Intercomparision of Three-Dimensional Radiation Code(I3RC) Monte Carlo community model of three-dimensional radiative transfer,the authors also performed simulations at a nonabsorbing wavelength and an absorbing wavelength through a stratocumulus and a cumulus *** results showed the detection of abnormal transmittance on more than half the days,and the maximum transmittance was *** probability of the occurrence of abnormal transmittance appeared to be largest in summer,and on a daily basis was mainly at about noon local *** transmittance mainly appeared when clear sky and clouds co-existed,especially at the edges of broken clouds and nearby regions with clear-sky *** flux transmittance decreased as the solar zenith angle increased.

In recent years,China's dry ports have entered into a period of rapid development,especially driven by the Belt and Road initiative(BRI).This initiative not only provides valuable opportunities,but also intensifies fierce competition between *** order to earn more profits and maintain an advantageous position,dry ports generally tend to rely on seaports to increase competitiveness and attract more goods,and seaports are also willing to cooperate with dry ports to expand their *** a large coastal province in China,Shandong Province has good maritime *** of the fierce competition among seaports inside and outside Shandong Province,port operators should make good use of the opportunity offered by BRI to make connections with the inland cities through the dry port-seaport logistics network and enhance the *** order to take an active part in the process of the BRI,forming a dry port-seaport logistics network is a win-win strategy for Shandong *** research first analyzes the impact of the Belt and Road initiative on ports of Shandong and its development,then uses complex network theory and TOPSIS method to select dry port candidate cities from BRI's important transportation *** considering economic benefits,carbon emissions and construction costs,a multi-objective optimization model is established with a construction cost preference *** the NSGA-II algorithm is used to solve the realistic *** study finds that when the construction cost increases,the transportation cost and carbon emission cost will decrease,which indicates that the dry port-seaport logistics network established under the BRI can reduce the cost of logistics transportation and environmental pollution.
