The main purpose of this study patients undergoing a single bundle anterior was to compare the clinical outcomes of cruciate ligament reconstruction (Acl-R) of using quadrupled hamstring (4HT)autografts and two-strand tibialis anterior (2TA) aUografts,and to find out the rate of graft failure and possible *** hypothesized that there would be no difference in the clinical outcome,and graft failure would be associated with the use of small sized allograft in young active males with high demand of sports *** retrospectively evaluated 222 patients (male,n=167,female,n=55) undergoing Acl-R between January 2010 and July *** 222 patients,115 were included in the 4HT autograft group and 107 patients in the 2TA allograft *** criteria were primary unilateral Acl-R with a minor Mcl (cus tear and had at least 2.5 years of *** evaluation was performed using Tegner-lysholm score,modified cincinnati knee score,and IKDc knee *** laxity was assessed using ADT and lachman test whereas rotational laxity was assessed using pivot shift ***,functional assessment was performed using range of motion (ROM),Daniel's one-leg hop test,and overall IKDc *** outcomes were satisfactory and comparable in both groups with no statistically significant difference in all the respective *** statistically significant difference was observed in graft re-rupture ***,most graft failures occurred in young active males with high demand of sports activities,graft size smaller than 8 mm,and use of *** autograft with at least 8 mm diameter should be considered in a young active male with high demand of sports activities to avoid graft failure.

Glaciological mass balance(MB)is considered the most direct,undelayed and unfiltered response of the glaciers to climatic ***,it may inherit errors associated with stake underrepresentation,averaging over the entire glacier and human ***,proper validation of glaciological MB with geodetic MB is highly recommended by the World Glacier Monitoring Service(WGMS).The present study focuses on the Dokriani Glacier,central Himalaya which is one of the bench-mark glaciers in the region and has glaciological MB records from 1993 to 2013 with intermittent *** the present study,firstly the glaciological MB series is extended to 2014 i.e.,field-based MB for one more year is computed and,to compare with it,the geodetic MB is computed for the 1999–2014 period using high resolution cartosat-1 digital elevation model(DEM)and SRTM ***,the study assesses the regional representation of the Dokriani Glacier in terms of MB and evaluates the influence of the MB regime on its morphological *** show that the average glaciological MB(-0.34±0.2 m water equivalent(w.e.)y-1)is more negative than the geodetic MB(-0.23±0.1 m w.e.y-1)for the 1999–2014 *** is likely because of the partial representation of glacier margins in the glaciological MB,where melting is strikingly low owing to thick debris cover(>30 cm).In contrast,geodetic MB considers all marginal pixels leading to a comparatively low MB.A comparative assessment shows that the MB of Dokriani Glacier is less negative(possibly due to its huge accumulation area)than most other glacier-specific and regional MBs,restricting it to be a representative glacier in the ***,continuous negative MB has brought a peculiar change in the epiglacial morphology in the lower tongue of the glacier as differential debris thickness-induced differential melting has turned the glacier surface into a concave *** concavity has led to development of a large(10–20 m deep)supraglacial ch

Holmium doped GaN diluted magnetic semiconductor thin films have been prepared by thermal evaporation technique and subsequent ammonia annealing. X-ray diffraction mea- surements reveal all peaks belong to the purely hexagonal wurtzite structure. Surface mor- phology and composition analysis were carried out by scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy respectively. The room temperature ferromagnetic proper- ties of Gal-xHoxN （x=0.0, 0.05） films were analyzed using vibrating sample magnetometer at room temperature. Magnetic measurements showed that the undoped films （i.e. GaN） exhibited diamagnetic behavior, while the Ho-doped （Gao.95Hoo.05N） film exhibited a ferro- magnetic behavior.

The radiant systems consume less energy and provide better thermal comfort as compared to the conventional system,but the main drawback of radiant technology is inability to cater the latent load and *** problem has engaged researchers to push their emphasis on Personalized conditioning System(PcS).It forms a micro-climate region near the *** study is aimed at PcS combined with a radiant conditioning system,which evaluates the performance of the PcS and compares it with different radiant cooling systems.A radiant cubicle was used to investigate the performance of the PcS for both heating&cooling *** heating mode,the Standard Effective Temperature(SET)was calculated with the help of thermal comfort surveys which were in a range of 23.4℃ to 27.3℃.For cooling mode,four different cases compared the performance of the system which are:conventional Air conditioning System(cAcS),Radiant cooled ceiling System(RccS),Personalized Radiant conditioning System(PRcS),and both PRcS-RccS *** was observed that PRcS alone reaches the thermal comfort criteria with low energy *** energy-saving of RccS-PRcS was achieved 38%when compared with *** can be concluded that PRcS is a new step in the field of thermal comfort.

Objective: To study the protective effect of ascorbic acid and curcumin against the abnormal estrous cycle and morphological changes in cells induced by repeated ultraviolet B(UVB)radiation in female Wistar ***: Sixteen female sexually mature Wistar rats weighing 130-150 g and aged 12-16 weeks were randomly divided into four *** control group received normal food and water ad *** UVB group was exposed to a dose of 280 nm of UVB radiation for 2 h *** UVB+curcumin group received a dose of 280 nm of UVB radiation for 2 h daily and also an oral dose of curcumin(25 mg/kg body weight)*** UVB+ascorbic acid group received a dose of 280 nm of UVB radiation for 2 h daily and also an oral dose of ascorbic acid(250 mg/kg body weight)*** the treatments last for 15 consecutive *** and ovary weight and gonadosomatic index were *** stages(proestrus,estrus,metaestrus and diestrus)of the estrous cycle were determined by the cell types observed in the vaginal ***: UVB radiation caused irregular alterations on the estrous cycle and morphological changes of the female Wistar rat as compared with the control *** acid and curcumin protected UVB-induced estrous phases and their *** curcumin showed greater protection than ascorbic ***: Ascorbic acid and curcumin at low doses can alleviate abnormal estrous cycle and morphological changes in cells induced by UVB radiations in female Wistar rats.

The effects of chromium and tin on survival, growth, carbon fixation, nitrate reduction, ammonia assimilation, and nitrogenase activity of a N_2-fixing cyanobacterium, Anabaena doliolum, and their amelioration by synthetic and natural complexans, viz., EDTA, nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA), pyridine dicarboxylic acid (PDA), and citrate, have been studied. chromium proved to be much more toxic than tin, as it inhibited growth yield (49%), carbon fixation (53%), and nitrate reductase (79%), glutamine synthetase (30%), and nitrogenase activities (77%) at its sublethal concentration, whereas tin induced less inhibition of growth yield (42%), carbon fixation (50%). and nitrate reductase (66%), glutamine synthetase (32.4%), and nitrogenase activities (70%). Despite its inhibitory effects at 10μml^(-1), EDTA supplementation in metal-spiked medium counteracted the toxicity of chromium and tin more significantly than NTA, PDA, and citrate. When supplemented with lD_(50) of cr, EDTA protected growth, carbon fixation, NR, GS. and Noase, respectively, by 32.6, 50.0, 33.3. 17.7. and 65.4%. However, EDTA-induced restoration of the above parameters at a sublethal concentration of tin was only 30.2, 50.0,28.1, 27.7, and 61.5%, respectively. Although NTA and citrate at 10/μgml^(-1) each were stimulatory to various processes of test cyanobacterium, they were comparatively less effective than EDTA in the amelioration of metal toxicity. On the basis of these observations, a generalized hierarchical sequence of protective efficiency of synthetic and natural cornplexing ligands may be given as EDTA > NTA > citrate > PDA. It seems plausible that the toxicity of various heavy metals may be regulated by a large array of organic complexing agents of the aquatic environment because they possess various metal binding sites. Densely populated region of Ganga Plain is facing aquifer vulnerability through waterborne pollutants and groundwater stress due to indiscriminate abstraction,causing environmental and socio-economic *** address long-term groundwater resilience,it is crucial to understand aquifer heterogeneity and connectivity,groundwater recharge sources,effects of groundwater abstraction *** this con-text,present study aims to understand factors responsible for vertical and spatial variability of groundwater chemistry and to identify groundwater recharge sources in an intensively exploited agrarian region of the Ganga *** of chemometric,statistical,and isotopic analysis categorises the alluvial aquifer into zone 1(G1;ground surface to 100 m)and zone 2(G2;>100 m-210 m).The group G1 samples are characterized by a wide variation in hydrochemical species,noted with pockets of F-and NO3-rich groundwater,and fresh to more evolved water types,while group G2 groundwater is characterized by a sharp increase in freshwater types and limited variation in their isotopic and hydrochemical *** G1 groundwater chemistry is governed by soil mineralogy,local anthropogenic inputs(SO42-,cl-,and NO3-),and manifested by multiple recharge sources(local precipitation,river,canal water,pond).The G2 group is dominated by geogenic processes and mainly recharged by the local *** signatures confirm more evolved water type for group G1 in northwestern region,while fresh-water type covers the rest of the study *** rich groundwater is attributed to sodic water under alkaline conditions and enrichedδ18O values emphasizing role of evaporation in F-mobilization from micas and amphiboles abundant in the *** findings provide insight into potential groundwater vulnerability towards inorganic contaminants,and ground water recharge *** outcome of this study will help to develop aquifer resilience towards indiscriminate groundwater extrac
