A r.tio contr.l.str.tegy has been used to demonstr.te the feasibil.ty of this automatic contr.l.pr.cedur. for.the achievement of stabl. ful. and par.ial.nitr.tation. The contr.l.str.tegy assur.d constant r.tio between the dissol.ed oxygen （DO） and the total.ammonia nitr.gen （TAN） concentr.tions in the bul. l.quid of aer.bic gr.nul.r.sl.dge r.actor. oper.ting in continuous mode. Thr.e differ.nt set-ups with differ.nt r.actor.capacities wer. used （3, 110, and 150l.. High str.ngth synthetic wastewater. and r.ject water.wer. tested with simil.r.per.or.ance. Achieved nitr.gen l.ading r.tes r.nged between 0.4 and 6.1 kgN· m^-3·d^-1, at temper.tur.s between 20℃ and 30℃. 1Gr.nul.r.sl.dge and nitr.tation wer. stabl. in the l.ng ter. continuous oper.tion of the r.actor.. Suitabl. stabl. effl.ent for.Anammox has been obtained using the desir.d TAN setpoint （i.e. 50% of infl.ent ammonium oxidation）. An existing biofil. model.devel. oped incor.or.ting the impl.mented contr.l.l.ops and val.dated in a pr.vious publ.cation was used to investigate the effects of the ammonium concentr.tion of the infl.ent and the biofil. density on the achievement of ful. nitr.tation. The model.demonstr.ted how sl.dge r.cir.ul.tion events l.d to a stabl. and significant incr.ase of the biomass concentr.tion in the r.actor. which in tur. r.sul.ed in the achievement of high nitr.gen l.ading r.tes, due to the action of the contr.l.str.tegy. The model.pr.dicted an enhancement of stabl. ful. nitr.tation at higher.ammonium concentr.tions in the infl.ent. Poor.infl.ence of the biofil. density in the achievement of ful. nitr.tation was pr.dicted with the model.

The per.pher.l.r.per.oir. of CD4＋ T l.mphocytes contains autor.active cel.s that r.main tol.r.nt thr.ugh sever.l.mechanisms. However. nonspecific CD4＋ T cel.s can be activated in physiol.gical.conditions as in the cour.e of an ongoing immune r.sponse, and their.outcome is not yet ful.y under.tood. Her., we investigate the fate of human naive CD4＋ l.mphocytes activated by dendr.tic cel.s （DCs） pr.senting endogenous sel.-peptides in compar.son with l.mphocytes invol.ed in al.or.sponses. We gener.ted memor. cel.s （Tmem） fr.m pr.mar. effector. activated with matur. autol.gous DCs pl.s inter.0}ukin （Il.-2 （Tmauto）, simul.ting the cir.umstances of an active immune r.sponse, or.al.ogeneic DCs （Tmal.o）. Tmem wer. gener.ted fr.m effector.cel.s that wer. r.sted in the absence of antigenic stimul., with or.without Il.7. Tmem wer. l.ss activated than effector. （demonstr.ted by CD25 downr.gul.tion） par.icul.r.0} with Il.7, suggesting that this cytokine may favour.the tr.nsition to quiescence. Tmauto and TmaHo showed an effector.memor. phenotype, and r.sponded simil.r.0} to pol.cl.nal.and antigen-specific stimul.. Biochemical.y, Il.7-tr.ated Tma^o wer. cl.sel. r.l.ted to conventional.memor. l.mphocytes based on Er.-l.2 activation, wher.as Tmauto wer. mor. simil.r.to effector.. Objective: To deter.ine if ther. is a r.l.tionship between the administr.tion of the dietar. suppl.ment containing 5-Aminol.vul.nic Acid (5-Al.) and sl.ep. Methods: A doubl.-bl.nd, r.ndomized par.l.el.gr.up study was conducted. It was a 4-month study of 40 par.icipants between the ages of 40 and 70. Mal.s and femal.s wer. r.cr.ited equal.y. Ther. wer. 20 in each gr.up who had existing sl.ep disor.er.. The tool.used to measur. par.icipant sl.ep impr.vement incl.ded the Pittsbur.h Insomnia r.ting Scal.-20 Question (PIr.-20). Impr.ved sl.ep is r.fl.cted when the total.PIr.-20 scor. is l.wer. r.sul.s: Impr.vement in sl.ep in the gr.up taking 50 mg 5-Al., compar.d to contr.l., was significant. The mean change, fr.m basel.ne thr.ugh week 6, was -5.67 units l.ss on the sl.ep scal. than the contr.l.gr.up with a p val.e of 0.001. The mean change fr.m week 6 to week 10 when the par.icipant was no l.nger.taking the suppl.ment was 4.55 units higher.than the contr.l.gr.up with a p val.e of 0.062, which is of bor.er.0}ne significance. Concl.sions: Ther. is a r.l.tionship between the administr.tion of dietar. suppl.ments containing 5-Al. and sl.ep. The r.sul.s of this study suggest that 5-Al. is associated with impr.ved sl.ep. The mechanism for.sl.ep impr.vement needs to be expl.r.d. Fur.her.r.sear.h is war.anted.

Moor.） l. G. l.hmann, Fr.der.cia chica （Bonpl.） l. G. l.hmann and Tanaecium sel.oi （Spr.ng.） l. G. l.hmann. Methods： The antioxidant activity was eval.ated using thr.e methods, 2,2＇-azino-bis（3-ethyl.enzothiazo l.ne-6-sul.onic acid）（ABTS）, 2,2-diphenyl.l.picr.l.ydr.zyl.（DPPH）, and fer.ic r.ducing antioxidant power. l.poxygenase-inhibiting activity was assayed spectr.photometr.cal.y; the r.sul. was expr.ssed as per.ent inhibition. The antimicr.bial.activity was assessed using the agar.disk diffusion method. Minimal.inhibitor. concentr.tion （MIC） and minimal.bacter.cidal.fungicidal.concentr.tion wer. al.o deter.ined for.each extr.ct against 12 pathogenic bacter.al.str.ins of Staphyl.coccus aur.us and seven fungal.str.ins of the Candida genus. The identification of the major.compounds pr.sent in the most pr.mising extr.ct was establ.shed by high-per.or.ance l.quid chr.matogr.phy-tandem mass spectr.metr.. r.sul.s： C convol.ta, F. caudiger., and F. chica exhibited the best antioxidant activity by scavenging DPPH and ABTS~ r.dical. and r.ducing Fe3＋ ion. These extr.cts showed a notabl. inhibition of l.pnxygenase. F. caudiger. was found to have the l.wer.MIC val.e against S. aur.us str.ins and six Candida species. The extr.cts of F. caudiger. and C. convol.ta wer. active even against methicil.in-r.sistant S. aur.us. C convol.ta had higher.total.phenol.content, better.antioxidant activity and super.or.anti- infl.mmator. and antimicr.bial.activity. The main phenol.c compounds found in this extr.ct

An exper.mental.study was car.ied out to estimate the effect of the l.ad impur.ties on the sil.er.distr.bution in the phases for.ed in the l.ad bl.st fur.ace. Sampl.s of sinter.with differ.nt contents of Cu, S, As and Sb wer. equil.br.ted under.r.ducing atmospher. （p（CO）/p（CO2）=2.45） at 1573 K in a tube fur.ace and sl.wl. cool.d. The sampl.s wer. char.cter.zed by scanning el.ctr.n micr.scopy and micr.anal.sis （SEM-EDS）. Ther. wer. five immiscibl. phases：sl.g （CaO, FeO and SiO2）, matte （S, Cu and Fe）, speiss （As, Fe and Cu）, Cu-Sb phase and l.ad bul.ion （Pb, Ag, Sb, Cu, etc）. The r.sul.s showed that Cu and Sb pr.mote sil.er.l.sses dur.ng the pr.cess since they for. a l.quid sol.tion with higher.sil.er.sol.bil.ty than l.quid bul.ion. Sul.ur.and ar.enic r.act with copper.to for. the matte and speiss phases, r.spectivel.. The effect of S and As is to r.duce the amount of Cu-Sb al.oy and then the sil.er.l.sses fr.m the bul.ion.
