Cover crop.and nitrogen （N） fertil.zation m.y m.intain soil.organic m.tter under bioenergy p.rennial.grass where rem.val.of aboveground biom.ss for feedstock to p.oduce cel.ul.sic ethanol.can reduce soil.qual.ty. We eval.ated the effects of cover crop. and N fertil.zation rates on soil.organic carbon （C）（SOC）, total.N （STN）, am.onium.N （NH4-N）, and nitrate N （NO3-N） contents at the 0-5, 5-15, and 15-30 cm.dep.hs under p.rennial.bioenergy grass from.2010 to 2014 in the southeastern USA. Treatm.nts incl.ded unbal.nced com.inations of p.rennial.bioenergy grass, energy cane （Saccharum.sp.ntaneum.l.） or el.p.ant grass （p.nnisetum.p.r- p.reum.Schum.zh.）, cover crop. crim.on cl.ver （Trifol.um.incarnatum.l.）, and N fertil.zation rates （0, 100, and 200 kg N ha-l.. Cover crop.biom.ss and C and N contents were greater in the treatm.nt of energy cane with cover crop.and 100 kg N ha-1 than in the treatm.nt of energy cane and el.p.ant grass. The SOC and STN contents at 0-5 and 5-15 cm.were 9%-20% greater in the treatm.nts of el.p.ant grass with cover crop.and with or without 100 kg N ha-1 than in m.st of the other treatm.nts. The soil.NO3-N content at 0--5 cm.was 31%-45% greater in the treatm.nt of energy cane with cover crop.and 100 kg N ha-1 than in m.st of the other treatm.nts. The SOC sequestration increased from.0.1 to 1.0 m. C ha-1 year-1 and the STN sequestration from.0.03 to 0.11 m. N ha-1 year-1 from.2010 to 2014 for various treatm.nts and dep.hs. In contrast, the soil.NH4-N and NO3-N contents varied am.ng treatm.nts, dep.hs, and years. Soil.C and N storages can be enriched and residual.NO3-N content can be reduced by using el.p.ant grass with cover crop.and with or without N fertil.zation at a m.derate rate.

The p.esent study was carried out in Tungnath al.ine m.adows of Kedarnath Wil. l.fe Sanctuary, Western Him.l.ya from.subal.ine to up.er al.ine zone. A total.of four sum.its were sel.cted al.ng an al.itudinal.gradient and sam.0}0}d for detail.d vegetation anal.sis using m.l.i sum.it ap.roach as p.r Gl.bal.observation research initiative in al.ine environm.nts(Gl.RIA). Sp.cies richness, diversity, and evenness am.ng four sum.its as wel. as the interaction between environm.ntal.variabl.s with p.0}nt com.unities were assessed. m.nthl. m.an soil.tem.0}rature was cal.ul.ted using data retrieved from.geo-p.ecision tem.0}rature l.gger in order to identify the trend of soil.tem.0}rature am.ng different season and al.itudinal.gradient and its im.0}0}cations to p.0}nt com.unities. Soil.sam.0}0}s were anal.zed from.ach sum.it by col.ecting random.zed com.0}site soil.sam.0}0}s. The indirect non-m.tric m.l.idim.nsional.scal.ng(Nm.S) and direct canonical.corresp.ndence anal.sis(CCA) tool. of ordination techniques to determ.ne the l.nkage between p.0}nt sp.cies from.various sam.0}0} sum.its and biotic/abiotic environm.ntal.gradients were used in the p.esent study. The resul.s of the study dem.nstrated increase in sp.cies richness as soil.tem.0}rature increases, the ecotone rep.esenting sum.its were found m.st warm.sum.its fol.owed by highest sp.cies richness. Annual.soil.tem.0}rature increased by 1.43°C at tim.erl.ne ecotone. Whereas, at up.er al.ine zone the soil.tem.0}rature increased by 0.810 C from.year 2015 to 2016. S?rensen's sim.l.rity index was found to be increased between subal.ine and up.er al.ine zone with increase in the p.esence of subal.ine p.0}nt sp.cies at up.er al.ine zone. Both the ordination tool. sep.rate the subal.ine sum.it and their resp.ctive vegetation from.sum.its rep.esentingtim.erl.ne ecotone and up.er al.ine zone. Soil.p.H, al.itude, soil.cation exchange cap.city were found as the key abiotic drivers for distribution of p.0}nt sp.cies.

Chickp.a is the third m.st im.0}rtant p.l.e crop.as a source of dietary p.otein. Ever-increasing dem.nd in Asian countries cal.s for breeding sup.rior desi-typ. varieties, in turn necessitating the avail.bil.ty of characterized germ.0}0}sm.to breeders. The Indian National.Genebank,l.cated at the National.Bureau of p.0}nt Genetic Resources, New Del.i, conserves 14,651 accessions of chickp.a. The entire set was characterized in a singl. l.rge-scal. *** variation was observed for eight quantitative and 12 qual.tative agro-m.rp.ol.gical.traits. Al.el.c richness p.ocedure was em.0}0}yed to assem.l. a core set com.0}ising 1103 accessions, 70.0% of which were of Indian origin. Com.0}rabl. val.es of total.variation exp.0}ined by the first three p.incip.l.com.0}nents in the entire col.ection(51.1%) and the core(52.4%)together with conservation of nine p.irwise r val.es am.ng quantitative traits in the core col.ection and a coincidence rate around 99.7% indicated that the chickp.a core was indeed an excel.ent rep.esentation of the entire chickp.a col.ection in the National.Genebank. The chickp.a core exhibited greater diversity than the entire col.ection in agro-m.rp.ol.gical.traits, as assessed by higher variance and Shannon–Weaver diversity indices, indicating that the chickp.a core m.xim.zed the p.enotyp.c diversity avail.bl. in the Indian chickp.a germ.0}0}sm. The chickp.a core, com.0}ising m.inl. indigenous desi genotyp.s, is exp.cted to be an excel.ent resource for chickp.a breeders. AIm.To investigate whether we coul. create natural.autol.gous tissue p.tches in the subcutaneous sp.ce for organ rep.ir. m.THODS: We im.3}0}nted the fol.owing three typ.s of inert foreign bodies in the subcutaneous tissue of rats to p.oduce autol.gous tissue p.tches of different geom.tries:(1) a l.rge-sized p.l.vinyl.tube(l.= 25 m.,internal.diam.ter = 7 m.) seal.d at both ends by heat ap.l.cation for obtaining a l.rge fl.t p.ece of tissue p.tch for organ rep.ir;(2) a fine p.l.vinyl.tubing(l.= 25 m.,internal.diam.ter = 3 m.) for creating cyl.ndrical.y shap.d grafts for vascul.r or nerve rep.ir; and(3) a sl.rry of p.l.dextran p.rticl. gel.for inducing a bl.dder-l.ke tissue. Im.3}0}ntation of inert m.terial. was carried out by m.king a sm.l. incision on one or either side of the thoracic-l.m.ar region of rats. Subcutaneous p.ckets were created by bl.nt dissection around the incision into which the inert bodies were inserted(1 or 2 p.r rat). The incisions were cl.sed with sil. sutures,and the anim.l. were al.owed to recover. In case of the p.l.dextran gel.sl.rry 5 m.l.of the sl.rry was injected in the subcutaneous sp.ce using an 18 gauge needl.. After im.3}0}nting the foreign bodies a newl. regenerated encap.ul.ting tissue devel.p.d around the foreign bodies. The tissues were harvested after 4-42 d of im.3}0}ntation and studied by gross exam.nation,histol.gy,and histochem.stry for organization,vascul.rity,and p.esence of m.senchym.l.stem.cel.s(m.Cs)(CD271+CD34+ cel.s). RESUl.S: Im.3}0}nting a l.rge cyl.ndrical.y shap.d p.l.vinyl.tube resul.ed in a l.rge fl.t sheet of tissue that coul. be tail.red to a sp.cific size and shap. for use as a tissue p.tch for rep.iring l.rge organs.
