Elevated CO2 and high N promote the yield of vegetables interactively, whilst their interactive effects on fruit quality of cucumber （Cucumis sativus l.） are unclear. We studied the effects of three CO2 concentrations （400 IJmOl mol^-1 （ambient）, 625 pmol mol^-1 （moderate） and 1 200 pmol mol^-1（high）） and nitrate levels （2 mmol l^-1 （low）, 7 mmol l^-1 （moderate） and 14 mmol l^-1 （high）） on fruit quality of cucumber in open top chambers. Compared with ambient CO2, high CO2 increased the concentrations of fructose and glucose in fruits and maintained the titratable acidity, resulting in the greater ratio of sugar to acid in moderate N, whilst it had no significant effects on these parameters in high N. Moderate and high CO2 had no significant effect on starch concentration and decreased dietary fiber concentration by 13 and 18%, nitrate by 31 and 84% and crude protein by 19 and 20% averagely, without interactions with N levels. the decreases in amino acids under high CO2 were similar, ranging from 10-18%, except for tyrosine （50%）. High CO2 also increased the concentrations of P, K, Ca and Mg but decreased the concentrations of Fe and Zn in low N, whilst high CO2 maintained the concentrations of P, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, Cu and Zn in moderate and high N. In conclusion, high CO2 and moderate N availability can be the best combination for improving the fruit quality of cucumber. the fruit enlargement, carbon transformation and N assimilation are probably the main processes affecting fruit quality under CO2 enrichment.

Wastewater discharged from chemical oxygen demand（COD） testing instrument was generally difficult to treat due to its high content of heavy metals and very low pH. In this study, a kind of cysteine-functionalized magnetic nanoparticles（MNPs-Cys） was synthesized and used to treat the wastewater. the synthesized MNPs-Cys as the adsorbent for heavy metal removal from aqueous solutions were systematically investigated. the adsorption dynamic process fit the langmuir isotherms well with a maximum adsorption capacity of 76.92 mg/g for Cu（Ⅱ）. the adsorbent could be easily regenerated by 0.1 mol/l HNO3, which exhibited a high adsorption performance within 10 cycles. this adsorbent, combined with a developed pretreatment approach, could make Cr（Ⅲ）, Hg（Ⅱ） and Ag（Ⅰ） in the wastewater discharged from COD testing instrument effectively removed and the removal efficiency is more than 99%. this work gave a new insight into the design and synthesis of high-performance materials for treating wastewater with heavy metals.

BACKGROUND Gastric cancer(GC)is a heavy burden in *** support for GC patients is closely related to postoperative ***,the role of early oral feeding after laparoscopic radical total gastrectomy in GC patients is unclear and high-quality research evidence is *** To prospectively explore the safety,feasibility and short-term clinical outcomes of early oral feeding after laparoscopic radical total gastrectomy for GC *** this study was a prospective cohort study conducted between January 2018 and December 2019 based in a high-volume tertiary hospital in China.A total of 206 patients who underwent laparoscopic radical total gastrectomy for GC were *** which,105 patients were given early oral feeding(EOF group)after surgery,and the other 101 patients were given the traditional feeding strategy(control group)after *** clinical data were recorded and *** primary endpoints were gastrointestinal function recovery time and postoperative complications,and the secondary endpoints were postoperative nutritional status,length of hospital stay and expenses,*** Compared with the control group,patients in the EOF group had a significantly shorter postoperative first exhaust time(2.48±1.17 d vs 3.37±1.42 d,P=0.001)and first defecation time(3.83±2.41 d vs 5.32±2.70 d,P=0.004).In addition,the EOF group had a significant shorter postoperative hospitalization duration(5.85±1.53 d vs 7.71±1.56 d,Plower postoperative hospitalization expenses(16.60±5.10 K¥vs 21.00±7.50 K¥,P=0.014).On the 5th day after surgery,serum prealbumin level(214.52±22.47 mg/l vs 204.17±20.62 mg/l,P=0.018),serum gastrin level(246.30±57.10 ng/l vs 223.60±55.70 ng/l,P=0.001)and serum motilin level(424.60±68.30 ng/l vs 409.30±61.70 ng/l,P=0.002)were higher in the EOF ***,there was no significant difference in the incidence of total postoperative complications between the two groups(P=0.507).CONClUSION Early

Background Parathyroid hormone deficiency or resistance may cause hypocalcemia with related symptoms and signs. lifelong treatment of calcium combined with vitamin D or its metabolites is always necessary for these patients. Here we reported a prospective and open-label trial to investigate the efficacy and safety of domestic-made calcitriol in treatment of hypocalcemia caused by hypoparathyroidism or pseudohypoparathyroidism. Methods Twenty-four patients with confirmed hypoparathyroidism or pseudohypoparathyroidism aged （36.5±11.0） years old were studied. Among them, 16 patients had idiopathic hypoparathyroidism, 2 had pseudohypoparathyroidism and 6 had hypoparathyroidism secondary to cervical surgery. Serum calcium levels were lower than 1.88 mmol/l. Oral calcitriol was administered twice or three times with elemental calcium 1.2 g per day. All patients were followed every 4 weeks throughout the 12-week period. Dose adjustments of calcitriol were based on serum and urinary calcium levels and symptoms of hypocalcemia. Results Twenty patients were included by the end of this study. Muscular weakness, cramps, extremity paresthesia, Chovestek＇s sign and Trousseau＇s sign were relieved in 76.9%, 100%, 94.4%, 93.3% and 78.9% of patients, respectively. Serum calcium, plasma ionized calcium and serum phosphorus levels were （1.54±0.25） mmol/l, （0.64±0.10） mmol/l and （2.00±0,46） mmol/l at baseline, and reached （2.20±0.20） mmol/l, （0.95±0.06） mmol/l and （1.68±0.25） mmol/l （P 〈0.01） at the 12th week of treatment, respectively. Eighty percent of patients were assessed as effective and 20% as partly effective. three, four and eight patients had hypercalciuria at the 4th, 8th and 12th week of treatment, respectively, which were reduced by thiazide diuretics. the final dose of calcitriol was （1.09±0.50） ug/d. Conclusions Calcitriol combined with calcium can be used in treatment of hypocalcemia caused by hypoparathyroidism or pseudohypoparathyroidism effectively and safely. Serum a
