The mechanism of viscous heating of a Newtonian fluid filled inside a cavity under the effect of an external applied force on the top lid is evaluated numerically in this *** investigation is carried out by assuming a two-dimensional laminar in-compressible fluid flow subject to Neumann boundary conditions throughout the numerical iterations in a transient *** the walls of the square cavity are perfectly insulated and the top moving lid produces a constant finite heat flux even though the fluid flow attains the steady-state *** objective is to examine the effects of viscous heating in the fully insulated lid-driven cavity under no-slip and free-slip Neumann boundary conditions coupled with variations in Reynolds and Prandtl *** partial differential equations of time-dependent vorticity-stream function and thermal energy are discretized and solved using a self-developed finite difference code in MATlAB®*** dependence of fluid thermodynamics is envisaged through contour and image plots.A commercial simulation software,Ansys Fluent®utilizing a finite element code is employed to verify the finite difference results *** the effect of viscous heating is very minimal,Neumann no-slip and free-slip boundary conditions are able to trap the heat inside the fully insulated cavity as the heat flux is constantly supplied at the top lid.A lower Reynolds number and a greater Prandtl number with free-slip effects reduce temperature distribution in the cavity with a faster velocity than in the no-slip condition as the free-slip behaves as a lubricant.

In order to support advanced vehicular Internet-of-Things(IoT)applications,information exchanges among different vehicles are required to find efficient solutions for catering to different application requirements in complex and dynamic vehicular *** learning(Fl),which is a type of distributed learning technology,has been attracting great interest in recent years as it performs knowledge exchange among different network entities without a violation of user ***,client selection and networking scheme for enabling Fl in dynamic vehicular environments,which determines the communication delay between Fl clients and the central server that aggregates the models received from the clients,is still *** this paper,we propose an edge computing-based joint client selection and networking scheme for vehicular *** proposed scheme assigns some vehicles as edge vehicles by employing a distributed approach,and uses the edge vehicles as Fl clients to conduct the training of local models,which learns optimal behaviors based on the interaction with *** clients also work as forwarder nodes in information sharing among network *** client selection takes into account the vehicle velocity,vehicle distribution,and the wireless link connectivity between vehicles using a fuzzy logic algorithm,resulting in an efficient learning and networking *** use computer simulations to evaluate the proposed scheme in terms of the communication overhead and the information covered in learning.

Objective To evaluate immediate transcatheter aortic valve implantation （TAVI） results and medium-term follow-up in very elderly pa- tients with severe and symptomatic aortic stenosis （AS）. Methods This multicenter, observational and prospective study was carried out in three hospitals. We included consecutive very elderly （〉 85 years） patients with severe AS treated by TAVI. The primary endpoint was to evaluate death rotes from any cause at two years. Results The study included 160 consecutive patients with a mean age of 87 ± 2.1 years （range from 85 to 94 years） and a mean logistic EuroSCORE of 18.8% ± 11.2% with 57 （35.6%） patients scoring 〉 20%. Procedural success rate was 97.5%, with 25 （15.6%） patients experiencing acute complications with major bleeding （the most frequent）. Global mortality rate during hospitalization was 8.8% （n = 14） and 30-day mortality rate was 10% （n = 16）. Median follow up period was 252.24± 232.17 days. During the follow-up period, 28 （17.5%） patients died （17 of them due to cardiac causes）. The estimated two year overall and cardiac survival rates using the Kaplan-Meier method were 71% and 86.4%, respectively. Cox proportional hazard regression showed that the variable EuroSCORE ≥ 20 was the unique vari- able associated with overall mortality. Conclusions TAVI is safe and effective in a selected population of very elderly patients. Our findings support the adoption of this new procedure in this complex group of patients.

A series of bimetallic Pd-Pb catalysts with a constant Pd content of 1 wt%and Pb/Pd atomic ratio from 0 to 1.6 supported on γ-Al2O3 were prepared and used for glycerol oxidation with h2O2 as the oxidizing agent at atmospheric pressure,45℃ and ph =*** morphology and dispersion of the catalysts were characterized by scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy（SEM-EDX） and transmission electron microscopy（TEM）.The presence of an alloy phase in the bimetallic catalyst was detected by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS）.Glycerol conversion obtained with the monometallic Pd catalyst was 19%,which was increased to 100%with the addition of *** four bimetallic PdPb catalysts were able to oxidize glycerol to dihydroxyacetone（DIhA） and the selectivity to DIhA reached 59%,58%,34%and 25%for PdPb0.25,PdPb0.50,PdPb1.00 and PdPbl.60 catalysts,respectively.

The catalytic hydrogenation of D-glucose over a 3 wt% Ru/C catalyst was studied varying the operating conditions in mild conditions range to optimize the obtention of D-sorbitol. The stirring speed, temperature, pressure, and initial glucose concentration were varied between 250 - 700 rpm, 343 - 383 K, 0.5 - 2 MPa, and 0.033 - 0.133 M, respectively. To verify the absence of mass transport limitations, the diffusion of reagents in the gas-liquid interface, the liquid-solid interface, and the internal diffusion in the particles were evaluated. Under the operating conditions studied, the reaction rate showed an order with respect to h2 of 0.586 and with respect to glucose of 0.406. The kinetic data were adjusted using 3 general models and 19 different sub-models based on langmuir-hinshelwood-hougen-Watson (lhhW) kinetics. Model 3a was the best one interpreting the aqueous phase hydrogenation of glucose (both reagents competitively adsorbed on the catalyst). The h2 adsorption is dissociative and the rate-limiting step is the surface chemical reaction.

More than 60% human infectious diseases have zoonotic origin. Cross species transmission of pathogens is a continuous, dynamic process that occurs throughout the world, giving rise to epizootic (temporary, limited infection), endemic (on-going infection limited to a defined geographic region) and pandemic viral infections (infection spreading to every part of the world) like the current COVID-19 pandemic, which depends on the existing conditions on the ground. In Nov 2021, sudden mortality of numerous migrating demoiselle cranes was reported from their resting site near Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The symptomatic cranes became gradually weak and were unable to fly. They eventually fell dead which caused concern locally, given the current prevailing SARS-CoV-2 pandemic situation the world over. By the end of Dec 2021, the number of cranes with mortality and morbidity reduced, making it a temporary “epizootic infection”. Molecular diagnosis carried out at a specialized laboratory identified the etiological agent to be the highly pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus h5N1 (hPAIV), which has been responsible for morbidity of avian species from different parts of the world. There was no report of spreading the h5N1 AIV infection from the infected migratory cranes to nearby chicken farms or pig farms for now. In the absence of vaccines against the highly pathogenic h5N1 AIVs, and the inherent ability of influenza viruses, both avian AIV and human IAVs to constantly mutate its envelope gene or the surface antigens, resulting from the error-prone nature of the viral RNA Polymerase enzyme are the roadblocks for development of a universal, broad-spectrum influenza vaccine. Even when such a universal vaccine against h5N1 is available, vaccinating a large number of wild migratory cranes would be difficult. however, it is possible and indeed necessary to vaccinate chickens in poultry farms and pigs in farms that raise pigs for human consumption.

The superplasticity of AINp/6061Al composite, fabricated by powder metallurgy method and hot-rolled after extrusion, was investigated. The AINp/6061Al composite exhibits an m-value of 0.49 and a maximum elongation of 438% in the strain rates ranging hem 10-2-100s-1 and at temperatures from 823K to 893K. Diffirential scanning calorimeter was used to ascertain the possibility of any partial melting in the vicinity of optimum superplastic temperature. These results suggested that liquid phase existed where maximum elongation was obtained.

Adsorption isotherms of N2 and 02 on dealuminated clinoptilolite zeolites were measured by the inverse gas chromatography method at zero-coverage. This type of microporous solids such as natural （ClINA） and dealuminated clinoptilolite zeolites （ClIDA1-ClIDA5） were conditioned by means of acid treatment of the natural zeolitic precursor （ClINA） with hCI at different concentration. Adsorption of selected gases （N2 and 02） on clinoptilolite zeolites were studied in the temperature range from 398 K to 498 K. The langmuir adsorption model was found to approximately fit the gases adsorption data, within the selected temperature range. The uptake amount of these gases by the diverse adsorbents was temperature dependent. Additionally, the energies of interaction between of these gases with clinoptilolite microporous walls were realized from the evaluation of the isosteric heats of adsorption （qst）. These isosteric heats were found to obey in the following decreasing order： qst （N2）： ClIDA1 〉 ClIDA3 〉 ClIDA2 〉 ClIDA4 〉 ClIDA5 〉 ClINA; while qst （02）： ClIDA3 〉 ClIDA2 〉 Cl1DA1 〉 ClIDA5 〉 ClIDA4 〉 ClINA.
