AIM:To measure the prognostic significance of absolute monocyte count/absolute lymphocyte count prognostic score(AMLPS) in patients with gastric cancer.METHODS:We retrospectively examined the combination of absolute monocyte count(AMC) and absolute lymphocyte count(ALC) as prognostic variables in a cohort of 299 gastric cancer patients who underwent surgical resection between 2006 and 2013 and were followed at a single institution.Both AMC and ALC were dichotomized into two groups using cut-off points determined by receiving operator characteristic curve analysis.An AMLPS was generated,which stratified patients into three risk groups:low risk(both low AMC and high ALC),intermediate risk(either high AMC or low ALC),and high risk(both high AMC and low ALC).The primary objective of the study was to validate the impact of AMLPS on both disease-free survival(DFS) and overall survival(OS),and the second objective was to assess the AMLPS as an independent prognostic factor for survival in comparison with known prognostic factors.RESULTS:Using data from the entire cohort,the most discriminative cut-off values of AMC and ALC selected on the receiver operating characteristic curve were 672.4/μL and 1734/μL for DFS and OS.AMLPS risk groups included 158(52.8%) patients in the lowrisk,128(42.8%) in the intermediate-risk,and 13(4.3%) in the high-risk group.With a median followup of 37.2 mo(range:1.7-91.4 mo),five-year DFS rates in the low-,intermediate-,and high-risk groups were 83.4%,78.7%,and 19.8%,respectively.And fiveyear OS rates in the low-,intermediate-,and high-risk groups were 89.3%,81.1%,and 14.4%,respectively.On multivariate analysis performed with patient- and tumor-related factors,we identified AMLPS,age,and pathologic tumor-node-metastasis stage as the most valuable prognostic factors impacting DFS and OS.CONCLUSION:AMLPS identified patients with a poor DFS and OS,and it was independent of age,pathologic stage,and various inflammatory markers.

Serum Gamma-glutamyl Transferase Concentration Within the Reference Range is Related to the Coronary Heart Disease Risk Prediction in Korean Men： Analysis of the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey （V-1, 2010 and V-2, 2011）

Background：Limited data exist on the association of serum gamma-glutamyl transferase （GGT） level within the reference range with the increased risk of coronary heart disease （CHD） prediction in men.The study examined the association between serum GGT concentration within the reference range and the CHD risk prediction in Korean men.Methods：The study employed data from Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey （V-1,2010 and V-2,2011） where a total of 1301 individuals were analyzed.A 10-year CHD risk prediction was computed using the Framingham Risk Score （FRS） modified by the National Cholesterol Education Program （NCEP） Adult Treatment Panel Ⅲ （ATP Ⅲ）.Results：Positive correlations were established between log-transformed GGT concentration and FRS （r =0.237,P 〈 0.001）.After adjustment of body mass index,the amount of alcohol intake and low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol,the odds ratio （95% confidence interval） for intermediate risk and beyond of 10-year CHD prediction （10-year risk ≥10%） with lowest quartile of participants was 1.21 （0.78-1.87） for second quartiles,1.39 （0.88-2.21） for third quartiles and 2.03 （1.23-3.34） for highest quartiles.Conclusions：Higher serum GGT within its reference range was significantly correlated with a 10-year CHD risk prediction estimation using NCEP ATP Ⅲ in Korean men.

Generation of Discrete Bicubic G^1 B-Spline Ship Hullform Surfaces from a Given Curve Notwork Using Virtual Iso-Parametric Curves

We propose a method that automatically generates discrete bicubic G^1 continuous B-spline surfaces that interpolate the curve network of a ship huliform.First,the curves in the network are classified into two types;boundary curves and ＂reference curves＂,The boundary curves correspond to a set of rectangular（or triangular）topological type that can be representes with tensot-product （or degenerate）B-spline surface patches.Next,in the interior of the patches,surface fitting points and cross boundary derivatives are estimated from the reference curves by constructing ＂virtual＂isoparametric curves.Finally,a discrete G^1 continuous B-spline surface is gencrated by a surface fitting algorithm.Several smooth ship hullform surfaces generated from curve networks corresponding to actual ship hullforms demonstrate the quality of the method.

Combination of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein and homocysteine may predict an increased risk of coronary artery disease in Korean population

Background The association of emerging biomarkers such as high-sensitivity C-reactive protein （hs-CRP）,homocysteine and fibrinogen with the risk of coronary artery disease （CAD） is still uncertain in Asian population including Koreans and little is known about the combined effect of biomarkers on the risk of CAD.Methods A total of 10 650 subjects （6538 men and 4112 women） were enrolled in this study.A 10-year CAD risk was calculated using Framingham risk score modified by the National Cholesterol Education Program （NCEP） Adult Treatment Panel Ⅲ （ATP Ⅲ ） and levels of circulating hs-CRP,homocysteine and fibrinogen were measured using validated assays.Results The 10-year CAD risk gradually augmented with increase in the circulating levels of hs-CRP,homocysteine and fibrinogen.For the highest quartile of hs-CRP,odds ratio （OR） of high-risk for CAD （10-year risk ≥20%） compared with the lowest quartile was 3.97 （95% C/：2.51-6.29）.For homocysteine and fibrinogen,ORs in the highest quartile compared to the lowest quartile were 5.10 （95% Cl：3.05-8.53,P 〈0.001） and 1.46 （95% Cl：0.69-3.11,P=0.325）,respectively.OR of high-risk for CAD in both the highest quartile of hs-CRP and homocysteine was 9.05 （95% CI：5.30-15.45） compared with the below median of hs-CRP and homocysteine.Conclusions The present study demonstrated that hs-CRP and homocysteine are well associated with the 10-year CAD risk estimated using NCEP ATP Ⅲ in Koreans and combination of hs-CRP and homocysteine can have strong synergyin predicting the development of CAD.

Relationship of plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 gene 4G/5G polymorphisms to hypertension in Korean women

Background Hypertension （HTN） is a major determinant of various cardiovascular events. Plasma levels of plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 （PAl-l） modulate this risk. A deletion/insertion polymorphism within the PAl-1 loci （4G/4G, 4G/5G, 5G/5G） affects the expression of this gene. The present study investigated the association between PAl-1 loci polymorphisms and HTN in Korean women. Methods Korean women （n=1312） were enrolled in this study to evaluate the association between PAl-1 4G/5G gene polymorphisms and HTN as well as other metabolic risk factors. PAl-1 loci polymorphisms were investigated using polymerase chain reaction amplification and single-strand conformation polymorphism analysis. Results The three genotype groups differed with respect to systolic blood pressure （P=0.043）, and diastolic blood pressure （P=0.009） but not with respect to age, body mass index, total cholesterol, low or high density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglycerides, or fasting blood glucose. Carriers of the PAl-1 4G allele had more hypertension significantly （PAl-1 4G/5G vs. PAl-1 5G/5G, P=0.032; PAl-1 4G/4G vs. PAl-1 5G/5G, P=0.034）. When stratified according to PAl-1 4G/5G polymorphism, there was no significant difference in all metabolic parameters among PAl-1 genotype groups in patients with HTN as well as subjects with normal blood pressure. The estimated odds ratio of the 4G/4G genotype and 4G/5G for HTN was 1.7 （P=0.005）, and 1.6 （P=0.015）, respectively. Conclusion These findings might indicate that PAl-1 loci polymorphisms independently contribute to HTN and that gene-environmental interaction may be not associated in Korean women.

本研究的重点是公众通过社交媒体参与柬埔寨议会。该研究计划旨在确定参议院的社交媒体对公民的影响,研究社交媒体对参议院的贡献和影响程度,并强调议会在社交媒体与公众互动方面面临的挑战。本研究在金边首都进行,作为三个Khan(地区)的案例研究,随机选择其样本。目前,柬埔寨王国政府推出了柬埔寨数字政府政策(CDGP)2022-2035,重点是“建设数字政府,通过更好的公共服务提高人民的生活质量和信心”的愿景。参议院柬埔寨还制定了《参议院能力建设战略框架和十年行动计划》(2021-2030),参议院制定了一个愿景,即根据代表性、透明度、可及性标准,将其作为现代议会制度开展工作和建立民主价值观的问责制。本研究采用定性和定量研究方法的混合方法,向金边的Chroy Changvar、Khan Chamkar Mon和Khan Chbar Ampov三个Khan(地区)的180人发送问卷调查Penh city.除了通过问卷调查获得的数据外,本研究还从与柬埔寨参议院四名官员的访谈中获得了明确的数据。这些信息清楚地表明了挑战者、参议院对社交媒体运作的看法以及双方的局限性;议会和公众。因此,需要加强和改进参议院参与的数字化转型,提高数字技术知识和技术技能,并扩大地方官员与公民分享参议院社交媒体平台的能力,引导他们与议会互动,以在未来实现电子议会以与各国议会联盟保持一致。

Efficacy and Safety of ＂URSA Complex＂ in Subjects with Physical Fatigue： A Multicenter, Randomized, Double-blind, Placebo-controlled Trial

Background： Fatigue is a common symptom both in diseases status and in healthy subjects. Various supplements and nutraceuticals for relieving of fatigue have been used. However, there are a few studies to evaluate the efficacy and the safety of the drug tbr fatigue alleviation, we conducted using URSA Complex to evaluate the efficacy on physical fatigue via score changes in the checklist individual strength （CIS）. Methods： The study was designed as a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, with subjects randomized to one of the two arms, receiving either placebo or URSA Complex administered as identical capsules. The primary efficacy endpoints of this clinical trials are the ratio of improving CIS scores 〈 76 points in patients at the end （4 weeks）. Secondary efficacy variables are as follows one is an improvement of fatigue and the other is an improvement of the liver enzyme. Results： The fatigue recovery rate in who had improved CIS scores of 〈 76 points were 70.0%, 50.9% in the therapy group and placebo group, respectively （P = 0.0l 9）. The fatigue recovery rate in CIS score was higher in URSA Complex therapy group than placebo group. The difference between therapy group and placebo group was statistically significant at 4 weeks later, but not 2 weeks. Conclusions： Our results provided that the URSA Complex was effective in alleviating physical fatigue. The adverse event frequency in the therapy groups was similar to that in the placebo group.

The effect of sunblock against oxidative stress in farmers：a pilot study

Farmers are frequently exposed to ultraviolet（UV） radiation which causes various diseases by inducing oxidative stress.This study aimed to assess the effects of sunblock on oxidative stress in the body.Eighty-seven farmers were divided into two groups：those who wore sunblock for five days and those who did not.The total antioxidant capacity（TAC） in urine,which is an antioxidant indicator,and 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine（8-OHdG） levels in urine,an oxidative stress indicator,were measured.The urinary TAC of sunblock users was significantly higher than that of non-users,but urinary 8-OHdG levels were not significantly different.Even after adjustment for potential confounders,urinary TAC was found to be markedly increased with sunblock usage.These results suggest that sunblock is effective in preventing oxidative stress among farmers.In addition,they show that urinary TAC can be used as a good effect marker of oxidative stress caused by UV exposure.

Inhibition of Proliferation of Prostate Cancer Cell Line DU-145 in vitro and in vivo Using Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge

Objective:To investigate the antiproliferative activity of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge.(SM)on the castration-resistant prostate cancer(CRPC)cell line DU-145 in vitro and in vivo.Methods:Prostate cancer cell line(DU-145)and normal prostate cell line(RWPE-1)were treated with SM at different concentrations(3.125,12.5,25 and 50μg/mL)to investigate the antiproliferative effects.DNA laddering analysis was performed to investigate the apoptosis of DU-145 cells.Molecular mechanism was investigated by Western blot analysis of p53,Bcl-2,prostate specific antigen(PSA),and androgen receptor(AR).Six-week-old male BALB/c nude mice were randomly divided into normal control group(n=101)and treated group(n=101)which administered 500 mg/kg SM for 2 weeks.Tumor volumes were measured.Results:Treatment with SM resulted in a dose-dependent decrease in cell number of DU-145 cells in comparison with RWPE-1.DNA laddering analysis indicated the apoptosis of DU-145 cells.Treatment with SM increased the expression of p53 and reduced the expression of Bcl-2 proteins.The levels of PSA were considerably reduced in SM-treated group compared to the controls,and a decrease in AR expression was observed when cells were treated with SM in the same pattern as a reduction in PSA.In the tumour xenograft study,SM given once a day for 2 weeks significantly inhibited tumour growth.Conclusion:SM might contribute to the anticancer actions such as induction of apoptosis and inhibition of proliferation of prostate cancer cells.

Suppression of Oxidative Stress of Modified Gongjin-Dan (WSY^1075) in Detrusor Underactivity Rat Model Bladder Outlet Induced by Obstruction

Objective： To investigate the anti-oxidative stress and preventive effect of modified Gongjin-dan （WSY-1075） in a detrusor underactivity rat model. Methods： Rats were randomly allocated to three groups： sham- operated （control）, bladder outlet obstruction-induced detrusor underactivity （BOO-DU）, and BOO-DU with WSY-1075 （WSY） groups. WSY-1075 was orally administrated to rats 200 mg daily for 2 weeks pdor to the operation and 4 weeks after the operation. Bladder outlet obstruction was surgically induced in rats by ligation around the urethra avoiding total obstruction. Cystometrography was conducted on rats in each group for examination of bladders. Results： Compared with the control group, bladder outlet obstruction led to a significant increase in oxidative stress with consequent changes to molecular composition, and decrease in maximal detrusor pressure （P〈0.05）. WSY-1075 treatment significantly suppressed oxidative stress and prevented degenerative and dysfunctional changes in bladder, as compared with BOO-DU group （P〈0.05）. Conclusion： WSY-1075 had beneficial effect on prevention of BOO-DU.
