High-performance blue organic light-emitting diodes （OLEDs） are developed. A concept of using multiple-emissive layer （EML） configuration is adopted. In this letter, bis（2-methyl-8-quinolinolate）-4- （phenylphenolato）A1 （BAlq） and 9,10-di（naphtha-2-yl）anthracene （ADN）, which serve n- and p-type EMLs, respectively, are used to evaluate and demonstrate the multi-EML concept for blue OLEDs. The thickness effect of individual EMLs and the number of EMLs, e.g., triple and quadruple EML components, on the power efficiency of blue OLEDs are systematically investigated. To illustrate the point, the total thickness of the emissive region in different blue OLEDs are kept contact at 30 nm for comparison. The power efficiency of blue OLEDs with a quadruple EML structure of BAlq/ADN/BAlq/ADN is about 40% higher than that of blue OLEDs having a single EML unit. The Commission Internationale deL＇eclairage color coordinates of multi-EML OLEDs have values that represent the average of blue emissions from individual EMLs of BAlq and ADN.

Clinical significance of CT-defined minimal ascites in patients with gastric cancer

AIM： To study the clinical significance of minimal ascites, which was only defined by the CT and whose nature was not determined preoperatively, in the relationship with the peritoneal carcinomatosis. METHODS： The medical records and the dynamic CT films of 118 patients with gastric cancer were reviewed. Factors associated with peritoneal carcinomatosis were analyzed in 40 patients who had CT-defined ascites of which the nature was surgically confirmed, RESULTS： Only 12.5-25% of the CT-defined minimal ascites, whose volume was estimated to be less than 50 mL, were associated with peritoneal carcinomatosis. When the estimated CT-defined ascitic volume was 50 mL or more, peritoneal carclnomatosis was identified in 75-100%. When CT-defined lymph node enlargements were not found beyond the regional gastric area, perigastric invasions were not suspected, and the size of tumor was less than 3 cm, peritoneal carcinomatosis seemed significantly less accompanied at the univariate analysis. However, except for the minimal volume of CT- defined ascites in comparison with the mild or more, other factors were not confirmed multivariately. CONCLUSION： In the patients with gastric cancer, CT- defined minimal ascites alone is rarely associated with peritoneal carcinomatosis, if it does not accompany other signs suggestive of malignant seeding. Therefore, consideration of active curative resection should not be hesitated, if CT-defined minimal ascites is the only delusive sign.

Development of an analytical method for multi-residue quantification of 18 anthelmintics in various animal-based food products using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry

Recent advance in imaging techniques,*** MRI and PET,allows us to understand the activation of various brain ***,due to the spatial limitation of these approaches,it is difficult to observe more fine structures,*** and synapses in *** photon excitation of fluorescent molecules enables us to observe the fine structures and neuronal activity in the various organs and ***,we introduce two evidences of dynamics of neuronal structures and glia in the brain of living *** time imaging with two photon microscopy revealed that resting microglia,the primary immune effector cells in the brain,dynamically extend and retract their processes as if actively surveying the *** directly monitors the local synaptic states. Resting microglial processes make brief(～5 min) and direct contacts with neuronal synapses at a frequency of about once per *** transient cerebral ischemia the microglia-synapse contact periods were markedly prolonged ( hour),frequently followed by the disappearance of presynaptic *** striking finding of the synapse disappearance driven by microglial contact could contribute to an increased turnover of synaptic connections and remodeling of neuronal circuits receiving ischemic *** observation of the same neuronal structures of the mouse cortex over several months reveals the dynamic change of dendritic spines of somatosensory cortex in case of neuropathic pain induced by peripheral ligation of sciatic *** turnover in the S1 area corresponding to the injured paw markedly increased during an early developing phase of neuropathic pain and was restored in a late phase of neuropathic *** stable spines survived less following injury than controls,and new generated spine after the injury tend to preferentially survive,which displayed long-term potentiation-like enlargement over weeks. In this study,we developed a simple screening procedure for the determination of 18 anthelmintics(including benzimidazoles,macrocyclic lactones,salicylanilides,substituted phenols,tetrahydropyrimidines,and imidazothiazoles)in five animal-derived food matrices(chicken muscle,pork,beef,milk,and egg)using liquid chromatography-tandem mass *** were extracted using acetonitrile/1% acetic acid(milk and egg)and acetonitrile/1% acetic acid with 0.5 mL of distilled water(chicken muscle,pork,and beef),and purified using saturated n-hexane/acetonitrile.A reversed-phase analytical column and a mobile phase consisting of(A)10 mM ammonium formate in distilled water and(B)methanol were used to achieve optimal chromatographic ***-matched standard calibration curves(R^(2)≥0.9752)were obtained for concentration equivalent to ×1/2,×1,×2,×3,×4,and×5 fold the maximum residue limit(MRL)stipulated by the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug *** of 61.2e118.4%,with relative standard deviations(RSDs)of ≤19.9%(intraday and interday),were obtained for each sample at three spiking concentrations(×1/2,×1,and ×2 the MRL values).Limits of detection,limits of quantification,and matrix effects were 0.02e5.5 mg/kg,0.06e10 mg/kg,and -98.8 to 13.9%(at 20 μg/kg),*** five samples of each food matrix(chicken muscle,pork,beef,milk,and egg)purchased from large retailers in Seoul that were tested,none of the target analytes were *** has therefore been shown that this protocol is adaptable,accurate,and precise for the quantification of anthelmintic residues in foods of animal origin.

Design of Korean Standard Modular Buoy Body Using Polyethylene Polymer Material for Ship Safety

Buoy is the structure which is floated on sea surface in order to indicate the presenting obstacle such as reef and shallow sea and to show the direction of sea route to ship during sailing. Generally, the conventional material of buoy is steel and it has some problems. Firstly this steel light buoy has safety risk in case of collision between ship and steel buoy. Secondly steel buoy revealed high corrosion environment of salted water and oxide and corrosion of steel can lead to marine pollution. Thirdly it needs too much maintain cost because of its heavy weight. In this study, in order to overcome these problems we changed the buoy material from conventional steel body to polyethylene body. Polymer buoy body was designed with module type part and it can reduce total weight up to 43.12%. To evaluate the strength of that part, the structure analysis simulation was carried out with respect to stress, displacement, and strain. Maximum stress was 1.667 × 107 N/m2 and it was 25% of yielding stress of base material. Maximum displacement and strain were 3.164 mm and 0.00433353 and they are too small value and in safe range with comparing to total length of body. The stability of polymer buoy body was compared with conventional buoy with respect to center of gravity, center of buoyancy, metacenter, oscillation period, and tilt angle by wind, tidal current, and wave. Every value was improved comparing conventional one and we can get more stable buoy. Therefore the new polymer buoy body could prove its safety and stability.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of orthodontic loading on the expression of interleukin-1α (IL-1α) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in compressed gingiva. Materials and Methods: Twenty-four male Wistar rats were used with four rats as controls at day 0. In ten rats, corticotomy was performed on either left or right side and the re-maining side was served as control, and killed at 7 and 14 days. In the remaining ten rats, maxillary right and left first molars were moved orthodontically with a constant force of 20 g;appliance and appliance in conjunction with cortictomy (appliance-corticotomy) were sequentially alternated between left and right sides and euthanized at 7 and 14 days. Real time polymerase chain reactions of compressed gingiva excised from the euthanized rats was performed to measure mRNA expressions of IL-1α and TNF-α. Results: There were no significant differences in the expression of IL-1α between all the groups. On the other hand, TNF-α from the pressure side in the ap- pliance group and the appliance in conjunction with corticotomy group showed significant increase on the 7th day compared to that of either control or corticotomy group.
