Objective:To characterize complex multimorbidity among cancer survivors and evaluate the association between cancer survivorship,time since cancer diagnosis,and self-reported fair/poor health,self-rated worse health in 2 years,and 2-year ***:We used the 2010-2012 Health and Retirement *** survivors were indi-viduals who reported a(nonskin)cancer diagnosis 2 years or more before the *** defined complex multimorbidity as the co-occurrence of chronic conditions,functional limitations,and/or geriatric *** addition to descriptive analyses,we used logistic regression to evaluate the independent association between cancer survivor status and health *** also examined whether cancer survivorship differed by the number of years since ***:Among 15,808 older adults(age≥50 years),11.8%were cancer *** with cancer-free individuals,a greater percentage of cancer survivors had complex multimorbidity:co-occurring chronic conditions,functional limitations,and geriatric *** survivor-ship was significantly associated with self-reported fair/poor health,self-rated worse health in 2 years,and 2-year *** effects declined with the number of years since diagnosis for fair/poor health and mortality but not for self-rated worse ***:cancer survivor status is independently associated with more complex multi-morbidity,and with worse health *** effects attenuate with time,except for patient perception of being in worse health.

Multicellular organization and tissue construction has evolved along essentially different lines in plants and animals. Since plants do not run away, but are anchored in the soil, their tissues are more or less firm and stiff. This strength stems from the cell walls, which encase the fragile cytoplasm, and protect it. Properties of plant cell walls translate into properties of plant tissue. For instance, the cellulose microfibril angle in the different layers of walls of individual cells is a determinant of mechanical functions, which are useful to the plant itself. It also determines material properties of tissues and their potential industrial use. Indeed, plant cell walls determine the industrial value of a range of plant products including paper, timber, foodstuff, fodder, spun fibers, coatings, renewable polymers and future nanocomposites. cell walls and their biosynthesis is a very active field of plant research.

Role of carbon Substrates Added in the Transformation of Surplus Nitrate to Organic Nitrogen in a calcareous Soil

Excessive amounts of nitrate have accumulated in many soils on the North china Plain due to the large amounts of chemical N fertilizers or manures used in combination with low carbon inputs. We investigated the potential of different carbon substrates added to transform soil nitrate into soil organic N （SON）. A 56-d laboratory incubation experiment using the 15N tracer （K15NO3） technique was carried out to elucidate the proportion of SON derived from accumulated soil nitrate following amendment with glucose or maize straw at controlled soil temperature and moisture. The dynamics and isotopic abundance of mineral N （NO3 and NH4＋） and SON and greenhouse gas （N20 and cO2） emissions during the incubation were investigated. Although carbon amendments markedly stimulated transformation of nitrate to newly formed SON, this was only a substitution effect of the newly formed SON with native SON because SON at the end of the incubation period was not significantly different （P 〉 0.05） from that in control soil without added c. At the end of the incubation period, amendment with glucose, a readily available c source, increased nitrate immobilization by 2.65 times and total N20-N emission by 33.7 times, as compared with maize straw amendment. Moreover, the differences in SON and total N20-N emission between the treatments with glucose and maize straw were significant （P 〈 0.05）. However, the total N20-N emission in the straw treatment was not significantly （P ~ 0.05） greater than that in the control. Straw amendment may be a potential option in agricultural practice for transformation of nitrate N to SON and minimization of N20 emitted as well as restriction of NO3-N leaching.

Effects of daily telephone-based re-education before taking medicine on Helicobacter pylori eradication

We read the article "Effects of daily telephone-based re-education before taking medicine on Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) eradication: A prospective singlecenter study from china" written by Wang et al with great interest. It is reported in American and European guidelines that there is no sufficient test for the diagnosis of H. pylori except culture and that using at least two different tests for diagnosis of H. pylori is recommended. Patients who used antibiotics or bismuth salts in the previous 2 wk were excluded from study. But patients who used probiotics and antioxidant vitamins such as vitamins c and E were not excluded.

Numerous scientific fields are facing a replication crisis,where the results of a study often cannot be replicated when a new study uses independent *** issue has been particularly emphasized in psychology,health,and medicine,as incorrect results in these fields could have serious consequences,where lives might be at *** other fields have also highlighted significant replication problems,the Earth Sciences seem to be an *** paucity of Earth Science research aimed at understanding the replication crisis prompted this ***,this work aims to fill that gap by seeking to replicate geological results involving various types of *** identify and discuss 11 key variables for replicating U-Pb age distributions:independent data,global sampling,proxy data,data quality,disproportionate non-random sampling,stratigraphic bias,potential filtering bias,accuracy and precision,correlating time-series segments,testing assumptions and divergent analytical methods,and analytical *** while this work primarily focuses on U-Pb age distributions,most of these factors(or variations of them)also apply to other geoscience ***,some of the discussions involve time-series consisting ofεHf,δ18O-zircon,14c,10Be,marineδ13c,and marineδ*** then provide specific recommendations for minimizing adverse effects related to these factors,and in the process enhancing prospects for replicating geological results.

The growth characteristics of Aspergillus parasitic us incubated on two culture media were ex-amined using shortwave infrared(SWIR,1000-2500 nm)hyperspectral imaging(HSI)in this *** images of the *** colonies growing on rose bengal medium(RBM)and maize agar medium(MAM)were recorded daily for 6 *** growth phases of *** were indicated through the pixel number and average spectra of *** score plot of the first principal component(Pc1)and Pc2,four growth zones with varying mycelium densities were *** characteristic wavelengths(1095,1145,1195,1279,1442,1655,1834 and 1929 nm)were selected from Pc1 loading,average spectra of each colony as well as each growth zone.F urthermore,support vector machine(S VM)classifier based on the eight wavelengths was built,and the classification accuracies for the four zones(from outer to inner zones)on the colonies on RBM were 99.77%,9935%,99.75%and 99.60%and 99.77%,9939%,99.31%and 98.22%for colonies on *** addition,a new score plot of Pc2 and Pc3 was used to differ-entiate the colonies incubated on RBM and MAM for 6 *** characteristic wavelengths of 1067,1195,1279,1369,1459,1694,1834 and 1929 nm were selected from the loading of Pc2 and *** on them,a new SVM model was developed to diferentiate colonies on RBM and MAM with accuracy of 100.00%and 9999%,*** conclusion,SWIR hyperspectral image is a powerful tool for evaluation of growth characteristics of *** incubated in diferent culture media.
