Although we live in an era of unprecedented quantities and access to data,deriving actionable information from raw data is a hard *** observation systems(EOS)have experienced rapid growth and uptake in recent decades,and the rate at which we obtain remotely sensed images is *** significant effort and attention has been devoted to designing systems that deliver analytics ready imagery faster,less attention has been devoted to developing analytical frameworks that enable EOS to be seamlessly integrated with other data for quantitative *** global grid systems(DGGS)have been proposed as one potential solution that addresses the challenge of geospatial data integration and ***,we propose the systematic extension of EASE-Grid in order to provide DGGS-like characteristics for EOS data *** describe the extensions as well as present implementation as an application programming interface(API),which forms part of the University of Minnesota’s GEMS(Genetic x Environment x Management x Socioeconomic)Informatics Center’s API portfolio.

With European laser Facilities such as the Extreme light Infrastructure(ElI) and the Helmholtz International Beamline for Extreme Fields(HIBEF) scheduled to come online within the next couple of years, General Atomics, as a major supplier of targets and target components for the High Energy Density Physics community in the United States, is gearing up to meet their demand for large numbers of low cost targets. Using the production of a subassembly for the National Ignition Facility's fusion targets as an example, we demonstrate that through automation of assembly tasks, the design of targets and their experimental setup can be fairly complex while keeping the assembly time and cost as a minimum.A six-axis Mitsubishi robot is used in combination with vision feedback and a force–torque sensor to assemble target subassemblies of different scales and designs with minimal change of tooling, allowing for design flexibility and short assembly setup times. Implementing automated measurement routines on a Nikon NEXIV microscope further reduces the effort required for target metrology, while electronic data collection and transfer complete a streamlined target production operation that can be adapted to a large variety of target designs.

Background:Unresectable disease is sometimes diagnosed during surgery in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC).This study aimed to identify preoperative risk factors for metastatic disease diagnosed at surgical exploration and to investigate and compare survival in resected and nonresected ***:Patients were identified from the Swedish National Pancreatic and Periampullary Cancer Registry *** of metastatic disease were evaluated with a multivariable logistic regression model,and survival was evaluated with Kaplan-Meier estimates and log-rank ***:In total,1938 patients with PDAC were scheduled for *** unresectable situation was diagnosed intraoperatively in 399 patients(20.6%),including 234(12.1%)with metastasized *** risk factors for metastasis were involuntary weight loss(OR=1.72;95%CI:1.27-2.33)and elevated carbohydrate antigen 19-9(CA19-9)(35-599 U/m l,OR=1.79,95%CI:1.11-2.89;≥600 U/m l,OR=3.24,95%CI:2.04-5.17).Overall survival was lower among patients with metastasized disease than that among patients with a resectable tumor(Plusions:Involuntary weight loss and an elevation of CA19-9 are preoperative risk factors for diagnosing metastasized disease during surgical exploration.

As femtosecond(fs)laser machining advances from micro/nanoscale to macroscale,approaches capable of machining macroscale geometries that sustain micro/nanoscale precisions are in great *** this research,an fs laser sharp shaping approach was developed to address two key challenges in macroscale machining(*** on edges and tapered sidewalls).The evolution of edge sharpness(edge transition width)and sidewall tapers were systematically investigated through which the dilemma of simultaneously achieving sharp edges and vertical sidewalls were *** decreasing the angle of incidence(AOI)from 0◦to−5◦,the edge transition width could be reduced to below 10µm but at the cost of increased sidewall ***,by analyzing lateral and vertical ablation behaviors,a parameter-compensation strategy was developed by gradually decreasing the scanning diameters along depth and using optimal laser powers to produce non-tapered *** fs laser ablation behaviors were precisely controlled and coordinated to optimize the parameter compensations in general manufacturing *** AOI control together with the parameter compensation provides a versatile solution to simultaneously achieve vertical sidewalls as well as sharp edges of entrances and exits for geometries of different shapes and *** mm-scale diameters and depths were realized with dimensional precisions below 10µm and surface roughness below 1µ*** research establishes a novel strategy to finely control the fs laser machining process,enabling the fs laser applications in macroscale machining with micro/nanoscale precisions.

用光学显微镜和电子显微镜对棉铃虫(Helicoverpa armigera)前胸腺的形态、超微结构、神经分布及末龄幼虫和早期蛹前胸腺的超微结构变化作了观察和研究。前胸腺呈T形,每对由76—116个大小不同的腺细胞组成;在末龄腺体中发现一种直径约6μ的微腺细胞;在28C,光周期l:D=15:9条件下,前胸腺在化蛹后第三天完全消失,前胸腺布满大量的气管或微气管,并有三根神经分布。腺细胞质膜内陷形成细胞间隙系统(ICS):ICS的宽度和深度在末龄幼虫蜕皮甾类分泌达到峰值时增至最大。在第4天末龄幼虫的前胸腺中观察到大量的多泡囊体(MVS)及其残片、粗面内质网、线粒体基质的电子透性增至最大。最后,对第十天末龄幼虫前胸腺细胞间边的冷冻复型膜进行了观察。前胸腺结构的变化与其分泌状态密切相关。

The 20-year (1976-1995) daily radinsonde data at 17 stations in the tropical western Pacific was ana- lyzed. The analysls shows that the atmosphere is more humid in a warmer climate on seasonal,inter-annual and long-term (20-year) time scales, implying a positive water vapor feedback The vertlcal structure of the long-term trends in relative humidity (RH) is distinct from that on short-term (seasonal and inter-annual) time scales, suggesting that observed water vapor changes on short time scales could not be considered as a surrogate of long-term climate change. The increasing trend of RH (3%-5% / decade) in the upper troposphere is stronger than that in the lower troposphere (1 %-2% / decade). Such verthal structure would amplify positive water vapor feedback in comparison to the common assumption of constant RH changes vertically. The empicical orthogonal function (EOF) analysis of vertical structure of RH varmtions shows distinct features of the vert1cal structure of the first three EOFs. The first three EOFs are optimal for repre- sentation of water vapor profiles and provide some hints on physical mechanisms respons1ble for observed humidity variability. Vaisala radiosondes were used at nine stations, and VIZ radiosondes used at other eight stations The Vaisala data are corrected for temperature-dependence error using the correction siheme developed by NCAR / ATD and Vaisala. The comparison of Vaisala and VIZ data shows that the VIZ-measured RHs after October 1993 have a moist bias of - 10% at RHs l changes in- cluding both instruments and reporting practice have been made at Vaisala stations and introduce errors to long-term RH variations.
