This paper reports on a molecular dynamics study of structural rearrangements in a copper nanocrystal during nucleation of plastic deformation under uniaxial tension. The study shows that the resulting nucleation of partial dislocations on the free surface and their glide occurs through local fcc→bcc→hcp transformations v.a consistent atomic displacements. We propose an atomic model for the generation of dislocations and twins based on local rev.rsible fcc→bcc→fcc transformations, with the rev.rse one proceeding through an alternativ. system. The model giv.s an insight into possible causes and mechanisms of the generation of partial dislocations and mechanical twins in two and more adjacent planes of plastically deformed nanocrystals. The obtained data allow a better understanding of how plasticity is generated in nanostructured materials.

The measurement of circulating blood v.lume （CBv. is crucial in v.rious medical conditions including surgery, iatrogenic problems, rapid fluid administration, transfusion of red blood ceils, or trauma with extensiv. blood loss including battlefield injuries and other emergencies. Currently, av.ilable commercial techniques are inv.siv. and time-consuming for trauma situations. Recently, we hav. proposed high-speed multi-wav.length photoacoustic/photothermal （PA/PT） flow cytometry for in v.v. CBv.assessment with multiple dyes as PA contrast agents （labels）. As the first step, we hav. characterized the capability of this technique to monitor the clearance of three dyes （indocyanine green, methylene blue, and trypan blue） in an animal model. Howev.r, there are strong demands on improv.ments in PA/PT flow cytometry. As additional v.rification of our proof-of-concept of this technique, we performed optical photometric CBv.measurements in v.tro. Three label dyes--methylene blue, crystal v.olet simultaneous photometric determination of the and, partially, brilliant green--were selected for components of their two-dye mixtures in the circulating blood in v.tro without any extra data （like hemoglobin absorption） known a priori. The tests of single dyes and their mixtures in a flow system simulating a blood transfusion system showed a negligible difference between the sensitiv.ties of the determination of these dyes under batch and flow conditions. For indiv.dual dyes, the limits of detection of 3×10-6M-3×10-5M in blood were achiev.d, which prov.ded their continuous determination at a lev.l of 10-SM for the CBv.assessment without a priori data on the matrix. The CBv.assessment with errors no higher than 4% were obtained, and the possibility to apply the dev.loped procedure for optical photometric （flow cytometry） with laser sources was shown.

In this work we carried out an experimental inv.stigation into enhancement of the sorption capacity of carbon fabric using plasma treatment *** fabric is based on v.scose fiber and is hydrophobic by *** of the fabric sorption capacity is required for its application in *** this purpose,two plasma treatment methods were considered,*** nonequilibrium radiofrequency(RF)discharge and a v.cuum RF plasma source with an external magnetic *** treated by atmospheric discharge demonstrated aging effects during the first week after *** sorption capacity of samples treated by the RF plasma source was stable ov.r the same period and reached v.lues as high as *** of the beam created by the v.cuum RF plasma source were analyzed and dependences of the fabric sorption capacity and specific surface area on plasma treatment time were *** found that sorption capacity reached its maximum v.lue after 30 min of treatment and did not change significantly if processing was continued,while the specific surface area reached its maximum after 3 min of treatment and quickly decreased after *** was found that the micropore structure of the fabric remained almost the same during plasma *** v.lume of mesopores in a unit of the fabric mass(specific v.lume)doubled during the first 5 min of treatment and returned to initial v.lues after 30 min of *** sorption capacity continued to increase ev.n when the specific surface area decreased after reaching its peak *** indicates the important role of surface functional groups formed on carbon fibers during plasma *** is consistent with the results of x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis showing changes in surface oxidation during plasma treatment.

In this rev.ew,we introduce the current state of the art of the growth technology of pure,lightly doped,and heav.ly doped(solid solution)nonlinear gallium selenide(GaSe)crystals that are able to generate broadband emission from the near infrared(IR)(0.8 mm)through the mid-and far-IR(terahertz(THz))ranges and further into the millimeter wav.(5.64 mm)*** the first time,we show that appropriate doping is an efficient method controlling a range of the physical properties of GaSe crystals that are responsible for frequency conv.rsion efficiency and exploitation *** appropriate doping,uniform crystals grown by a modified technology with heat field rotation possess up to 3 times lower absorption coefficient in the main transparency window and THz ***,doping prov.des the following benefits:raises by up to 5 times the optical damage threshold;almost eliminates two-photon absorption;allows for dispersion control in the THz range independent of the mid-IR dispersion;and enables crystal processing in arbitrary directions due to the strengthened ***,doped GaSe demonstrated better usefulness for processing compared with GaSe grown by the conv.ntional technology and up to 15 times higher frequency conv.rsion efficiency.

The experimental results and numerical modeling of penetration process of fluoropolymer projectiles in aluminum-based targets are presented. Analysis of mathematical models for interaction of elastoplastic projectile and target without taking additional energy released during interaction of fluoropolymer and aluminum into consideration is carried out. Energy fraction which is spent effectiv.ly on the increase in cav.ty v.lume is determined. The experimental and calculated results of penetration by combined and inert projectiles are compared.

Introduction: Transmembrane sodium-independent glucose transporters (GLUTs) play an important role in both placental and fetal dev.lopment by the prov.ding transplacental glucose transport. Abnormal GLUT-1 and GLUT-3 placental expression could play a role in such late pregnancy complications dev.lopment as preeclampsia and intrauterine growth retardation. Materials and Methods: Immunohistochemistry was performed to rev.al patterns of GLUT-1 and GLUT-3 expression in the placental terminal v.lli compartments. Results: GLUT-1 syncytial expression in the terminal v.lli of sev.re PE cases (both with and without IUGR) was significantly lower in compare to control group. We also report about GLUT-3 both syncytial and endothelial expression in the near term and term placental terminal v.lli without significant difference between the study and control groups. Conclusion: other study should be performed to establish the nature of GLUT-1 downregulation in sev.re preeclampsia cases and whether GLUT-3 is expressed in the syncytiotrophoblast of near term and term placentas or not.

Nonlinear polarizability of erythrocytes in non-uniform alternating electric field (NUAEF) was prov.d theoretically and experimentally by dielectrophoresis method. The paper presents experimental ev.dence of the nonlinear polarizability of erythrocytes in the non-uniform alternating electric field. The rotation of erythrocyte around its own axis at more than one rev.lution per second in the non-uniform alternating electric field in the frequency range and the electric field intensity?is the ev.dence of its nonlinear polarizability. The theoretical analysis of the density of electric charges capable of ov.rcoming the membrane potential was carried out on the basis of statistical mechanics, the thermal equilibrium in which the particle stays. The nonlinear polarizability of the erythrocyte emerges if the v.ltage on the membrane exceeds?, which was theoretically prov.d. The alternating electric field from the donor erythrocyte with the amplitude exceeding forms the constant component of the current? in the cytoplasm of the recipient erythrocyte whose energy can be considered as a signal one. The nonlinear equiv.lent electric circuit of the cell was proposed.
