Following the recent report by Dasenbrock-Gammon et al.[nature 615,244–250(2023)]of near-ambient superconductivity in nitrogendoped lutetium trihydride(LuH_(3-δ)n_(ε)),significant debate has emerged surrounding the composition and interpretation of the observed sharp resistance ***,we meticulously revisit these claims through comprehensive characterization and *** definitively identify the reported material as lutetium dihydride(LuH_(2)),resolving the ambiguity surrounding its *** similar conditions(270–295 K and 1–2 GPa),we replicate the reported sharp decrease in electrical resistance with a 30%success rate,aligning with the observations by Dasenbrock-Gammon et ***,our extensive investigations reveal this phenomenon to be a novel pressure-induced metal-to-metal transition intrinsic to LuH_(2),distinct from ***,nitrogen doping exerts minimal impact on this *** work not only elucidates the fundamental properties of LuH_(2)andLuH_(3),but also critically challenges the notion of superconductivity in these lutetium hydride *** findings pave the way for future research on lutetium hydride systems,while emphasizing the crucial importance of rigorous verification in claims of ambient-temperature superconductivity.

Autophagy is an intracellular degradation mechanism involved in antiviral defense,but the strategies employed by plant viruses to counteract autophagy-related defense remain unknown for the majority of the ***,we describe how the Chinese wheat mosaic virus(CWMV,genus Furovirus)interferes with autophagy and enhances its infection in nicotiana *** two-hybrid screening and in vivo/in vitro assays revealed that the 19 k Da coat protein(CP19 K)of CWMV interacts with cytosolic glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenases(GAPCs),negative regulators of autophagy,which bind autophagy-related protein 3(ATG3),a key factor in ***19 K also directly interacts with ATG3,possibly leading to the formation of a CP19 K–GAPC–ATG3 ***19 K–GAPC interaction appeared to intensify CP19 K–ATG3 ***,CP19 K expression upregulated GAPC gene transcripts and reduced autophagic ***,the silencing of GAPC genes in transgenic *** reduced CWMV accumulation,whereas CP19 K overexpression enhanced ***,our results suggest that CWMV CP19 K interferes with autophagy through the promotion and utilization of the GAPC role as a negative regulator of autophagy.

Silicon nitride(Si_(3)n_(4))based ceramics are one of the most attractive advanced engineering materials,which have been widely used under high-speed rotational operation or for mechanical contacts across a curved *** the present study,rotationally symmetric texturing of Si_(3)n_(4),with radial grain align-ment,was obtained by centripetal sinter-forging(CSF)of a partially sintered *** average values of the included angles between the c-axis of the local Si_(3)n_(4)grain and radial direction were approxi-mately 16.4°and 11.0°,on the section plane perpendicular to the pressing direction,and parallel to both the pressing and radial directions,*** compressive strain in the pressing direction forced the ceramic body to flow towards the central axis,resulting in compressive strain in the tangential di-rection and tensile strain in the radial direction.A fundamental physical model was created to simulate the grain rotation during the 3-dimentional strain reorientation,which revealed the rod-like grain would preferentially rotate toward the center of the sample under the CSF *** addition,due to the fric-tion between the sample surface and the pressing punch,the increased shear strain could enhance the Si_(3)n_(4)grain ***,ceramics with rod-like grains perpendicular to the curved side sur-face could be anticipated by applying the centripetal forming concept in a controlled manner.

The current status and future prospects for diagnosis and treatment of lateral pelvic lymph node(LPLn)metastasis of rectal cancer are described in this *** resonance imaging(MRI)is recommended for the diagnosis of LPLn metastasis.A LPLn-positive status on MRI is a strong risk factor for metastasis,and evaluation by MRI is important for deciding treatment *** dissection(LPLD)has an advantage of reducing recurrence in the lateral pelvis but also has a disadvantage of complications;therefore,LPLD may not be appropriate for cases that are less likely to have LPLn *** therapy(RT)and chemoradiation therapy(CRT)have limited effects in cases with suspected LPLn metastasis,but a combination of preoperative CRT and LPLD may improve the treatment ***,RT and CRT plus selective LPLD may be a rational strategy to omit unnecessary LPLD and produce a favorable treatment outcome.

Assessment of disease progression in patients with transfusion-associated chronic hepatitis C using transient elastography

AIM:To evaluate the relationship between liver stiffness and duration of infection in blood transfusion-associated hepatitis C virus (HCV) patients with or without hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).METHODS:Between December 2006 and June 2008,a total of 524 transfusion-associated HCV-RnA positive patients with or without HCC were *** stiffness was obtained noninvasively by using Fibroscan (Echosens,Paris,France).The date of blood transfusion was obtained by *** of infection was derived from the interval between the date of bloodtransfusion and the date of liver stiffness measurement (LSM).Patients were stratified into four groups based on the duration of infection (17-29 years;30-39 years;40-49 years;and 50-70 years).The difference in liver stiffness between patients with and without HCC was assessed in each *** linear regression analysis was used to determine the factors associated with liver ***:A total of 524 patients underwent *** patients were excluded because of unsuccessful *** 516 patients were included in the current analysis (225 with HCC and 291 without).The patients were 244 men and 272 women,with a mean age of 67.8 ± 9.5 *** median liver stiffness was 14.3 kPa (25.8 in HCC group and 7.6 in nonHCC group).The patients who developed HCC in short duration of infection were male dominant,having lower platelet count,with a history of heavier alcohol consumption,showing higher liver stiffness,and receiving blood transfusion at an old *** stiffness was positively correlated with duration of infection in patients without HCC (r=0.132,P=0.024) but not in patients with HCC (r=-0.103,P=0.123).Liver stiffness was significantly higher in patients with HCC than in those without in each duration group (P nificantly associated with high liver stiffness in multiple regression were age at blood transfusion (P n of infection (P=0.0015),and heavy alcohol

A numerical analysis technique that incorporates Voronkov's model were examined and used to estimate the distribution of defects during crystal growth. By comparisons of the distribution of the density of LSTD and the position of R-OSF in non-nitrogen-doped (non-n-doped) and nitrogen-doped (n-doped) silicon crystals, it is found that the results of the numerical analyses agree with practically evaluated data. The observations suggest that the R-OSF nucleus is a VO2 complex that is formed by bonds between oxygen atoms and residual vacancies consumed during the formation of void defects. This suggests that Voronkov's model can be used to accurately predict the generation and growth of defects in silicon crystals. This numerical analysis technique was also found to be an effective method of estimating the distribution of defects in silicon crystals during crystal growth.

Congenital bile duct dilatation (CBD) that developed in a parent and son is presented. Familial occurrence of CBD is rare, with only a few male cases having been reported. Since the initial report of CBD occurring in siblings in 1981, a total of 20 cases (10 pairs) have been published as of 2007. Clinical and genetic features of CBD are discussed.
